Scottish I know how much bump weighs, they told me following scan, and all the indicatoris suggested that bump was spot on with all the growth so should be an average size at birth, so I'm told. I think this means around 7lb mark-ish.

Great to hear about all the buying stuff, and preparations. I think we're going to wait until the very end, because at the moment things are just a bit too uncertain to plan, but love hearing about everyone's good work [bugrin]

Happy bank hols everyone!

Robsbaby77 · 09/04/2012 17:55

Hi there everyone i'm due on 10th august and am 22+3 can't wait for my littleman to arrive just had to find out lol :-)

MrsMigginslovespies · 09/04/2012 18:05

Hello everyone, been away for a couple of days, and hope you've all had a good Easter. Mine has been very chilled, and DH and I actually felt proper kicks last night! Was v exciting! So, either he's moved about a bit, or getting stronger, but it is cool!

Lovely to hear about the shopping too! Loving it all and we've chosen our nursery paint to go with the cath kidston airplanes fabric which will look lovely.

Needles, how are you feeling today? Any better? Really sorry to hear your news, but am sure everything will be ok, especially if the hospital have got a grip on it all.

Tash, my Mum has just bought me that beanbag theraline pillow too! Can't wait to get it, as sleeping is uncomfy now, especially with my pelvic pain etc. My sister also has one from previous baby and says it's still brilliant, epecially for feeding etc.

Off to help DM make supper and generally potter about. It's nice being at home with parents! xx

eightieshopaholic · 09/04/2012 19:45

Sorry not posted for a while, so much for this blooming stage not happened yet seem more tiered than ever. I have the lurgy feel sick, sore throat, head ache been up most of last night. I was looking forward to a nice rest Sunday/Monday.
Felt more more movements Sat&Sun not much today but been on the go.

Choose and pre ordered pushchair and car seat the Mothercare movenpick having delivered 3 weeks before due to mother in laws. Bought baby clothes in the sale but not sure what else should be looking at first baby all seems a bit daunting still.

Love reading all your posts on what you have bought gives me ideas lol!!

22+3

miaboo · 09/04/2012 20:05

Hi all, I've been busy and bought a moses basket, bouncer, playmat, bedding, bottles, towels, steriliser and some clothes - all in a week!
Baby boy 3, is moving all the time and I can see him kicking away when I lay down - still find it fascinating to watch! :)

PoppyS34wantsminieggs · 09/04/2012 22:13

Hello Robsbaby77 congrats and welcome :) eighties sorry to read you're feeling rubbish, are you managing to get some rest?

How does everyone's bumps feel? Do they feel weird or normal, tight? How is a bump meant to feel at 23wks? I'm not sure what's normal feelings and what's not!

tashaw28 · 09/04/2012 22:50

eighties in my experience buy small!!!! Even if they are average size at birth they are soooo tiny, both mine fitted into premmie nappies best of all for the first few weeks, (think they were Tesco own brand?) and the tiny baby babygro's from mothercare.

Westcountrylovescheese · 10/04/2012 08:15

Morning all, I've been quiet as I've been staying with family all weekend.

We had a baby day where DSis and DSil bought over ALL their baby gear and I got to choose things to have for my LO. I have literally hundreds of babygros in all different colours and styles. I will never have to buy clothes. Also my mum has started knitting and gave me a beautiful shawl and cardigan, she also has found a woollen blanket that my grandma knitted for us as babies which is so sweet.

Looks like the only things I'll have to buy are the pram and cot, but Pils have already offered to buy these! I think LO is going to be spoilt a bit by his family...

We're off home today (takes 5/6 hours on the train) and I plan on wearing my 'hands off the bump' t-shirt so that I son't have to worry about getting a seat and being jostled about while crossing London!

PictureThis · 10/04/2012 09:37

Gosh it's ages since I've posted. Glad to hear everyone is back on track and no more bleeding. DD is recovering well from her broken leg. It's still in the cast but she is starting to weight bear on it now which is good, in fact trying to stop her doing too much is proving to be the problem. Hey ho only another fortnight in it and then normality will resume...hopefully.
Feeling lots of movements now, breech seems to be it's favourite position at the moment which is fine but when I'm having to run up a corridor to delivery suite to attend a birth it becomes a little bit uncomfortable! Have my 20 week scan tomorrow. I think it's a girl so we will see.

Needles please don't worry about GBS. You should be given IV antibiotic cover in labour to protect your baby and your baby should be observed on the ward afterwards. That's what we do on our unit which I'm sure is fairly standard practice across the board. Just have a chat with your midwife who will happily address any concerns. Don't worry yourself too much.

Lovemarmite · 10/04/2012 10:29

Hope everyone had a good easter and I think I missed the bunny smileys - ooo they look fun!

Hope you're feeling better soon eighties and your mw can reassure you needles - you've had a few rough patches and so hope it gets better from now on. I know how you feel about wanting to get to August too, although mine is for worry about the LO rather than pregnancy symptoms but this feeling was there last week as I was so low but have now started to pick myself up a wee bit and starting to enjoy pregnancy a little bit more.

Tossed out some of DH's clothes to make room for a few new purchases for the LO! Quite funny as his unused clothes for years sat in a bag on the side, cleaned out the drawer and placed the new tiny clothes in there :o hee hee, well he did say that he'll be the last in the pecking order in this house and so I wanted to make sure he felt like he was right!

We have the specialist nurse coming this afternoon to talk over all the procedures about cleft lip/palate. I am amazed that there's a lot of support.
We're seeing MIL tomorrow though and I am dreading it as she is very hands on caring and I wonder if she'll say something to make me cry and I just want to get on with things and not talk about serious stuff. I am really hoping she'll not say anything as I find it so difficult with her at the best of times. She seems to always say either very cutting remarks or come across a bit too serious and then accuse me on not being maternal... I think we're just from two different pods... ahhh help me get through tomorrow.

Hope everyone has some sun today!

Lovemarmite · 10/04/2012 10:34

Oo yes, thanks tash about recommending the Theraline pillow - I had ordered the dreamgenii and then after reading your post, am sending it back as I've not used it and have ordered the Theraline from J Lewis.
I contacted Theraline too about extra covers and they sell them on their website for £15 and so I might get an extra cover.
For the original Theraline pillow, the email said: All covers with Art.-No. 5100xxxx will fit on your pillow.
Hope this helps if you're looking for an extra one too.

ffscatmove · 10/04/2012 11:26

Hello all,
I signed in at the start but then haven't been back..... Blush Am 22 + 5 today.
Stuck at home with the lurgy - anyone have any advice on what I can have for a nasty raw viral throat? (usual treatment of night nurse plus brandy not really an option!) Can't sleep with it Sad

ffscatmove · 10/04/2012 11:31

Ooh - v jel of your shopping exploits Lovemarmite - I haven't bought anything yet except nursery wall stickers.

Good luck with the MIL tomorrrow, is it worth your DH having a word with her beforehand or will that make her worse?

PoppyS34wantsminieggs · 10/04/2012 11:35

Hey ffscatmove sorry you've got the lurgy! Hot homemade honey, lemon and ginger worked for my sore throat, and my GP said the odd strepsil in an emergency really wouldn't do much harm. Gargling with soluble paracetamol might help too... oh, and I think chocolate helps loads Grin, I'm sure it coats the throat, or something like that... Wink

Good luck with specialist nurse marmite, so glad you're getting the support you need (good luck with MIL, too Confused)

I've been watching one of those pillows on ebay, can't really afford to buy it brand new.

ffscatmove · 10/04/2012 12:12

Thanks Poppy. Am just summoning the energy to head to Boots for paracetamol & then onwards for lemons & honey .... gutted to be poorly I was feeling really well and almost 'blooming' before this - hope that feeling comes back!
Ditto with the pillows, keep putting it in the basket then taking it out again!

NeedlesCuties · 10/04/2012 12:18

ffscat what are your stats so I can add you to the August list of awesomeness?

eg. my stats are NeedlesCuties (27) DC2 due 17/8/12

some ppl are also including the name of hospital they'll be using.

Hope your lurgy goes away soon.

Lovemarmite · 10/04/2012 12:53

Hope your throat eases up ffscat - how about a warm salt gargle too? Lemon, honey and ginger definitely worth a go!

I might try and get DH to stay close to me tomorrow with MIL and then he circumnavigate any conversations that might come.

Just walked into town and my bump was really starting to feel heavy and achy - I am finding that I'm getting this quite often with walking. Is anyone else feeling like this or is it me being unfit? I only walked less than a mile there and back and felt like I was bit more pregnant than I am!
22+3

PoppyS34wantsminieggs · 10/04/2012 13:18

That makes me feel a bit more reassured Marmite, I was wondering how a bump should feel. Mine is feeling a bit heavy, and achy, and pulling a bit. I didn't know if this was normal or not.. :) n

panpipe · 10/04/2012 16:02

ffscat I second the homemade lemon & honey - I had a stinking cold all weekend so mum made me a saucepanfull!

We had a lovely long weekend back at my parents'; I haven't been back since Christmas but they've been up to ours in between. DH and my dad had a lads' day out at the rugby on Sat so I took mum pram shopping - she's been feeling pretty left out of things like that since we live quite far apart so she really appreciated it and we had a great time! I think we've decided on the iCandy Strawberry, having changed our minds from the Cherry. DH is surprisingly interested in the pram - he says it's a mode of transport so almost like buying a car hehe!

My bump seems to change size, shape and weight on a daily basis! I felt really big and bloated on Friday but seem to have shrunk since then! I'm also having trouble staying on my left hand side to sleep; I bought a Dream Genii pillow at the NCT sale so might give that a go soon to try and prop myself up!

geekette · 10/04/2012 18:40

20+6

It looks like i have entered a napping phase. Third day in a row that i just had to have a little shut eye mid day.

But yay, had my 20-21 week scan today. we didn't find out the gender and all the organs are present, accounted for and working.
I thought it had a large head... I guess they all look that way, the sonographer said it was normal sized.

To top it up, the consultant was nice and actually listened to me. He did not jot until i was done complaining. :) I could not believe it. I noted his name in case I get a choice closer to term Wink

I have booked an NCT antenatal course for june... wondering what to expect.

Not much more money being spent here... yet.

sc0ttishlass · 10/04/2012 20:47

oh think i need to purchase one of the pillows you are all mentioning - i am worried about the way i sleep! i never end up on the left hand side like I read you are supposed to.

was going to ask you all about antenatal classes - I havent signed up yet - but was thinking must have to do that soon - who is doing the NCT one? and if you do that - do you do the NHS one also?

hope everyone having a nice evening.. i am sorting stuff out alll the time and unpacking etc - i think it must be the nesting instinct ;)

xx

geekette · 11/04/2012 00:38

A colleague advised me to book the nct class. no one has spoken to me about any NHS classes...

hamncheese · 11/04/2012 08:17

So much going on for you lovely people... here goes...

Thinking of you needles hope you are doing okay.

miggins you are making me so jealous with your nursery plans... we might not even be in our new place before baby comes and all I want to do is work on a wee nursery, have our colours and materials all ready but no room to do it in!! The airplanes sound great though :) I always liked those Cath prints like the cowboy one too!

Yes like poppy I want to know what is normal bump tension wise.... mine is just like a big fat stomach sometimes and then others all solid and pregnancy like.

Glad to hear your DD is recovering well picture has she been having her cast decorated and signed?

Hope all goes well with MW today marmite and good idea to keep DH near. I've found I've lost my ability to be angry or aggressive sometimes since I got pregnant. Before if it came to some sort of poor service issue or something I'd be all over it now I find I can't stomach it so have been getting DH to be on the offensive.

Hi ffscatmove LOVE the name haha Grin in relation to sore throat stuff I had a bad one and honey and glycerin cough bottle was allowed and lockets or halls are pretty good and allowed throat numbing sweets. I've been getting weird tonsil aches recently which is a bit odd... thinking it's an immunity thing or something...

panpipe that made me laugh about your DH and the pram my Dad was the same when I pointed out our pram (when in john lewis shopping for a mattress) and he "took her for a spin" commenting on how she corners and such haha :)

scottish I booked NCT on the advice of a friend and my mum... they start in May, geekette my MW offered the NHS classes at my last appointment (22wk) guess you could call her about it if yours didn't as I think they are similar times to the NCT ones and may start before you see her again??

PHEW. As for us (me and my wee buddy) we are doing great, sleeping well thanks to the v-pillow/beanbag combo and having lots of movements. Feels now like the baby knows what I'm feeling like as was worrying about things yesterday am and baby then started giving little kicks... very companionable. Also unless it was all coincidence baby was kicking in response to DH's voice last night... Grin

Anyone else feeling like they are nesting? All I want to do is sort out house stuff and arrange baby items. May start washing all the clothes ready for August (how organised!)

(22+4)

PoppyS34wantsminieggs · 11/04/2012 09:26

Ahhh I just got the name ffscatmove Blush, hahahaha - cool name :o

Ham My DP was shouting at the tv (watching footie) the other day and made bump jump - made me chuckle!

I do feel like I want to nest, but we have no where to nest yet. Really hope we can get something sorted before August, loving reading about all the plans and preparations.. :)

Scottish Not even thought about NCT classes yet, will have to look into them.

Needles how are you feeling today?

Signed off sick this week so I can rest up, still don't feel 100% and am worried about a repeat of last week, so don't want to rush back to work and set things off again. Just want to make it to consultant appt on Friday and 24wks on Sat, and then I can relax a little bit. Confused

ffscatmove · 11/04/2012 09:31

Thanks everyone - feeling much better this morning although am now v snotty (sorry, TMI!) Gave the glycerin & honey a go yesterday (well Tixylix actually, it was all they had!) and it burned! Ditto homemade honey/lemon/ginger! Still, seems to have done the trick.
Like Poppy & hamncheese my bump varies in tension & achiness - kind've assumed this was ligament stretching as it seems to be for a couple of days, keeps me awake etc then I wake up & the pain has gone & my bump is suddenly a bit bigger! I do notice shape changes as sprog shifts about as well - sometimes it's really wonky and peculiar looking!
I've booked NCT classes - midwife said the NHS ones were 'for people we can't get to anything else' but that may just be round here. DH is viewing them much the same as a forthcoming rectal exam but sure he'll be alright when the time comes.... Hmm

Needles my stats are:
ffscatmove (35) DC1 due 10/8/12 (allegedly - 'my' dates are a bit earlier!)

Have a friend visiting with her 7/8 month DS1 today - v excited! (she says her DH has a stinking cold so is prepared to brave it!) Good luck with the MIL marmite, cmfort yourself that at least she has to leave eventually Wink
