MrsMigginslovespies · 07/04/2012 14:23

Bleeding has stopped for now thank god. Still rather stiff and sore/achy, but suspect it's going to be on and off from now on. Just need to take it easy when I can and not do too much clearing out all at once...!

geekette · 07/04/2012 16:11

I think we are supposed to lie in our left sides? you might need loads of pillows...

Glad both your bleeds have stopped!

good luck to your grandad susie

PoppyS34wantsminieggs · 07/04/2012 16:15

I always start on my left, but by morning I've always moved to my right hand side, or on my back Confused might try a different pillow...!

WelshLadyCDF · 07/04/2012 17:01

I always start on my left too, then end up on my back, wake up and go back to the left.

Also, does anyone else do this...I totally think of me and the bump as 'we' already, on Friday took 'her' to see a band play and we have just baked a cake to take to an Easter lunch tomorrow...is it only me who does this?

Am having such fun buying little clothes too [busmile]

hamncheese · 07/04/2012 17:53

HAPPY EASTER (almost; just had 'easter' dinner with my side of the family at my flat as my bro is working tomorrow) [bubiscuit]

Sorry to hear about your car susie I know people always say it's just a hunk of metal but I always get attached to things like that. Had a terrible time throwing away a sewing machine a few years ago [bublush]. Hopefully you will find another car that is a affordable though... do you have any family who are looking to get a new car which you could get a good deal to buy theirs for? That always seems to happen with my family.

Poppy ....

As for sleeping positions my gran (for some reason) had a V shaped pillow which I have now stolen hehe and it's quite useful. It's a lot sturdier and fatter than the ones you see, for example on mothercare etc, so I tried it under bump/between legs but wasn't great as then it encouraged me to flop back to my back. BUT if you get it and put one arm of the V down your back and the other under your neck it is really comfy and keeps you on your side. So I try and flop between sides doing that. I also am finding I can still sleep a little on my front (like side but with one leg bent and on front slightly) with this blue squishee pillow I have wedged under bump. It's one of those bean bag type, tube pillows you can get (google squishee pillow) but it's really useful as it morphs to your shape yet unlike memory foam isn't all solid and rigid. Don't know if that helps but I'm getting really good sleep at the moment from this :)

And also DH (aka best husband ever) bought me this:

www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4433532/Trail/searchtext%3EHOMEDICS.htm

Really good deep back massager which I am using as I type. Getting awful back aches at the moment and only anticipate them worsening.

Also yesterday something exciting happened.. was in the bath minding my own business when felt some big kicks and then looked down and my bump was moving! I could see the kicks on the outside hehe it was actually even more exciting than feeling the kicks on the inside. Such a shame for DH as he hasn't felt them despite trying and now the baby has been dead quiet today. I think I could see them as the kicks were high up like in line with belly button but usually it kicks lower and the anterior placenta blocks any outside movement.

Going to go clean up the inevitable mess of having people over then guzzle easter eggs to try and get some visible kicks for DH again Grin

MrsMigginslovespies · 07/04/2012 18:51

Oooh, Ham am [buenvy] at your bump moving. I've not felt anything like that, and don't think I will coz of placenta being in the way.

Re sleeping: I asked the doctor the other day about it as also thought I needed to sleep on left and he said in all honesty, it didn't make a massive difference! SOME women could feel a bit light headed as the baby MIGHT lie funny, but it can depend. He said being comfy was important for good sleep. But don't take his word as gospel as do what you think it right for you and baby! There's so much conflicting advice, it's all a bit confusing for a little brain like mine [buconfused]. FWIW, I've been sleeping on left, right and back! Mum is buying me a squishy beanbag maternity pillow thing soon that I think will really help my pelvic pain etc. Hurrah.

pintofmilk · 07/04/2012 20:28

Poppy and MrsM glad your bleeding stopped now, excellent news.

I had my scan last week and I am having a GIRL!! [busmile] Thought it would be a boy as everyone else seems to be, maybe I will start a new trend for anyone else to find out? Only had boy names picked out, so new list started already....

I started to feel some movements yesterday too which was very exciting as my placenta is Anterior and not felt anything up till now. Nothing today, but hopefully movements will increase from now on.

Sleeping- I am starting off on left side, have a pillow between my knees as got SPD, helps a bit. Also put a pillow behind by back to try and stop me from rolling over. To be honest I am soo knackered when I get to bed I usually stay in the same place, If I move in my sleep the pain in my pelvis wakes me up! Hay ho...

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

hamncheese · 07/04/2012 20:33

migs my placenta is anterior too but it seems that despite that I can see movements but only when the baby kicks high up... if it kicks lower (as it most often does) I can't see anything and DH can't feel. However JUST THERE it was kicking higher and he did feel it, though only a little as it wasn't going quite so hard as when I saw it moving!! You've probably got a very peaceful, well behaved baby while mine is rocking about like a nutter ha! Maybe your placenta is higher than mine on the front then I guess.

I'm with you on that sleep advice too btw, it feels good on my right so I'm sleeping on it... trusting the body! [bugrin]

(22 weeks!!)

hamncheese · 07/04/2012 20:34

Oh congrats on your girl pint!! Brilliant news

PoppyS34wantsminieggs · 07/04/2012 21:18

congrats pint [busmile]

Welsh I've not got to the 'we' stage yet, but I do say hello to bump when he wakes up and I feel the first move of the day., but baking a cake together is just too cute [bugrin]

ham that massage thing looks great! I can also see my belly move now, which is a bit weird, but also very sweet. DP can also feel some kicks as well, as I've had a few goes on the fetal doppler thing I got off ebay, which is reassuring.

Thanks for all the tips on sleeping, just going to go with what's comfy and use a few pillows for support.

(23wks today)

susiegrapevine · 07/04/2012 22:11

Hey everyone. My grandad is doing loads better and maybe moved off the high dependancy unit to the normal cardiac ward tonight or tmw! Yay! Looking good.
He also offered to give me money for a new car but he is a bit hospital crazy at the moment I told him he only has to loan it and we will pay him back.

I was told I have placenta anterior but have been feeling loads of movements right from the begining kinda glad it is tho otherwise this baby would be kicking me to death.

tashaw28 · 07/04/2012 22:55

Wow such a lot of lovely good news tonight, so relieved about the bleeds both of you , and your grandpa susie, I treated myself to a Theraline pillow (google it) after scan as have been using a similar one for 8 years off and on and it's a bit dead now!! It's expensive £45 but beanbag filled and huge and I sleep with it during, sleep on it after holding bubs for 6 weeks (whilst sitting up in it!) and breast feed for a year using it, so I know I'll get my money's worth (buwink)

Happy Easter everyone [bugrin] hope you're all enjoying some Easter eggs.

Vinolover · 08/04/2012 13:51

Congrats pint

Ham my placenta is anterior too and I was stunned when the sonographer told me that. I have felt movement since 11-12 wks and have certainly had belly movement since about 18 weeks. She said it's probably because he is a very active baby which is good but when he's having a sleepy day it puts the frightners on me!

Great news about your grandad Susie. Must be such a relief for you and your family!

I'm glad your bleeds have eased up Poppy and MrsM.

I'm now off to my brothers house for what was supposed to be a bbq but seeing as today is a some what wash out, we're having mexican instead :) YUMMY! I'm actually secretly hapy about this as I get to feed my nacho craving again.

Hope everybody is having a lovely weekend :)

susiegrapevine · 08/04/2012 16:05

vino glad I am not the only one who has anterior placenta but is feeling loads I was shocked when told also.

Grandad has defo been moved to a normal cardio ward now! So is looking very positive. Still has to have life or death operation tho but hold out much more hope he will survive.

Cooking mega easter feast for my mum and dad and sister. Mums been suffering most at the month cos its her dad that's ill so I thought I would give her a treat. Cooking homemade soup and bread then roast pork will all trimmings! Plus strawberries and cream to finish. Yum!

NeedlesCuties · 08/04/2012 19:57

Happy Easter everyone!

Got a bit of (potentially bad) news today so could do with some support or empathy.

Dr rang to say that she found Group B Strep (GBS) from an examination she'd done last week so I had to come to the hospital to get anti-biotics and take 40 of them over the next 5 days :(

She also gave me a leaflet about GBS with the words, "I don't want to alarm you..." Well, after reading the leaflet I am alarmed, but trying to be calm. DH is being a sweetie about it all which is good.

Just reeling a bit, because with DS's pregnancy I glided through it, glowed with health and all was lovely and great. This pregnancy has been hospital visit after clinic visit with hyperemesis, a UTI, and now the GBS. Just feeling down about it all and feel bad for saying that I can't wait for August to come so it's all over with.

Meh.

Hey Needles. Don't know what to say as I do not know strep B very well but I am giving you a virtual all night hand holding!

woopsidaisy · 08/04/2012 21:00

Oh Needles. That is a bummer! But a good thing that it has been picked up too? At least they will be aware of it.
Hopefully this will be the last of these worries, and all will go swimmingly from now on.

I have had heartburn yesterday and today. Had forgotten how yuk it is, as I never get it except when pregnant and for a while after.

I haven't been able to get full chocolate enjoyment today because of it! [bugrin]

PoppyS34wantsminieggs · 08/04/2012 21:12

Oh Needles, sorry to hear that :( but second what whoops says - at least it's been picked up and they can deal with it. I have to say, I'm with you on the can't wait for August bit. Before last Sunday I was happy for the time to go slowly, but now I just want to get bump to the finish line safely.
Sending you a hug [bugrin]

Hope the heartburn goes away whoops and you get to enjoy Easter chocolate soon.

flyingleo · 08/04/2012 23:24

Hey Needles, some GBS empathy from me - had it last pregnancy (so they're assuming this one too). I actually got tested for it by my GP as an extra, and there's a petition somewhere to make testing routine - it's only dangerous if it's not picked up as far as I can tell, and once we have the antibiotics we'll be in the clear as it were! Hope you feel better about it soon anyhow.

sc0ttishlass · 09/04/2012 08:46

hi All - happy easter - great to have the monday off too :) needles sorry to hear about your trip to the hospital - but like the others say, good that they have found it early enough... these 9 months are stress after stress aren't they!

Miggins - I have an anterior placenta too - was pleased in a way to hear as I had not really been feeling anything - apart from the odd tiny flutter. she said I should probably feel it around 22 weeks which is a week today. I also have to go back for another scan at 32 wees (I guess to check if it has moved into position?) I actually had the scan earlier this week and for the first time, didnt like the person that did it - she snapped at me a few times and was just very un-pleasant - all other staff at my hospital have been so kind. She told me nothing other than all ok which I guess is the main thing (ie - did everyone get told size of baby? -I have a stupid question - I am sure previously friends have known rough size of bump along the way - if we are not meant to get any more scans how do they find that out??ie - do we buy tiny baby grows or 0-3 for the first few months! I didnt find out if blue or pink so its a surprise :)

other news is started buying things - got lovely curtains in John lewis (they have blue/pink/green trees on them so are neutral adn are black out which a few friends have recommended. Bough a groswaddle which is to swaddle before the gro-bag, adn then some sheets and stuff - and bought some lovely wool to knit a blanket (mum going to remind how to do it - havent done so since in primary school!!!!) Figured should try and get sorted now as not sure how I'll feel in the last few weeks. please feel free to send on any compulsory things we need to buy - im a novice at this (oh, got a bath in ikea for £5 something!)

xx
