Hi All

Had my 20 scan all fine thank goodness, was wriggling about but couldn't feel a thing not feeling baby every day yet even when do not a definite kick!! Got my consultant apt tomorrow as classed high risk as have crohns not sure what apt will involve. They confirmed its a boy had private scan but was good to have double checked!!

PoppyS34wantsminieggs · 27/03/2012 20:09

Good luck for your scan tomorrow marmite, fingers crossed it's all fine, and please try not to Google. Easier said than done I know!!

Congrats 3Bears, another boy! :o

Lovemarmite · 27/03/2012 20:18

Thanks for your thoughts x
We're off at 3.30pm to Hastings Conquest Hospital tomorrow. Will let you know how it goes...

Lovemarmite · 27/03/2012 20:20

Hope your appointment goes well too tomorrow eighties!

eightieshopaholic · 27/03/2012 20:27

Good luck Marmite not read your update before x

Angel786 · 27/03/2012 20:42

Congrats 3bears

lovemarmite hope all goes well tomorrow, easier said than done but try not to worry as you can't control this. I second a previous poster in that there are plenty of ways the dr's can help. Am no expert but one born every minute had a little boy born with a cleft lip who had surgery and was ok. Thoughts and prayers x

hamncheese · 27/03/2012 20:50

Marmite sending best wishes for tomorrow to you and your baby, hopefully everything will be fine.

Alison I'm first time and up until week 19 felt basically zilch then all of a sudden I could feel it when lying very still. Now 20+2 and often feel it, and baby is very responsive to sugar, eat something sweet then 10 mins later it's bouncing like a madman! Still feel it more when still though and it did go from nothing to all suddenly so hopefully soon you will feel the movements too!

picturethis sorry to hear about your poor DD on crutches! My cat was worryingly sick over the weekend and had to take to out of hours vet and I was beside myself, can only imagine it's far far worse with your child being in pain. Glad she is no longer unable to sleep, wee soul!

Congrats on the boy 3bears ... another for team boy Grin and glad your scan went well eighties!

Busy times... trying to fit 1 years worth of PhD work into 6 months; working part time as a mentor; applying for college lecturing PT work too for experience; AND attempting to volunteer at a museum, all in aid of the elusive job at the end of the tunnel and having to do everything before august. There's no way I want to feel in anyway guilty about taking several months off devoted to baby and baby alone because I didn't get enough done now! Anyone else not working and having to make their own maternity leave, so to speak?? Any other student mums on here??

And also just want to say I HATE YOU HEARTBURN, YOU AND ALL YOUR ACIDY/REFLUXY FRIENDS. Bahhhhh! Rennie time...

PoppyS34wantsminieggs · 27/03/2012 20:54

hamncheese that is an impressive list.. :) good on you! You must be knackered though..!

Has anyone thought of any names, now some of us know flavours? or is that too soon?

WelshLadyCDF · 27/03/2012 21:23

poppy I am thinking of the name Molly, I may need a plan b in case she doesn't look like a Molly though!

The3Bears · 27/03/2012 21:43

Hope everything goes okay tomorrow Marmite try not to worry to much sending lots of hugs to you x

eighties glad your scan went well and a boy aswell :)

hamncheese that list has made me tired just looking at it Grin dont feel guilty about having a break for baby you deserve it after all that, make sure you take it easy though and dont take on too much. Hope the heartburn improves aswell.

poppy Ive already decided on my name, Noah I have always liked it and really pleased babys a boy as all my friends were trying to pinch it and use it first Grin
What names are you thinking?

capecath · 27/03/2012 22:31

3Bears hey, Noah is at the top of our list too! DS1 is Joshua. Going to keep the sex a surprise though.. Prob Anna if a girl.

hamncheese wow, hope you get all that done! Please work in some time to rest a little as well :)

Gingerelle · 27/03/2012 22:43

Good luck for tomorrow marmite xxx

faintpinkline · 27/03/2012 22:45

Hello all not been posting much on here.

I'm 21 weeks tomorrow and finally starting to show so celebrated by splashing out on some maternity clothes today. Nothing seems quite right though and couldn't really afford to go to the more expensive places.

We went to the scan on Monday and luckily all seemed to be well - the baby was playing with its toes and opening and closing its mouth. We didn't ask sex as we'd like to keep it a surprise. Only hopefully minor problem is that the placenta is anteterior (to the front) which at least explains why I've not been able to feel baby kicking. The doctor said I may get some bleeding later on as a result and to come strait in if I do which is obviously a bit of a worry.

Got a midwife appointment at 24 weeks and a growth scan at 28 weeks then probably more growth scans every 2-3 weeks after that. will probably be induced at 38 weeks because of my rubbish obstetric history so maybe I should move to the due July thread!!

Westcountrylovescheese · 27/03/2012 22:51

Hamncheese, I'm nearing the end of a postgraduate diploma. Been three years studying whilst working full time. I have my final dissertation to complete and some other bits. Desperately need to complete by August but have pushed my own deadline again and again...!

We had decided on Claira for a girl (my grandmas name) but we have a boy so we need to get thinking caps on... Possibly Aran, or Leo... Not sure, may be a wait and see what he looks like!

susiegrapevine · 27/03/2012 22:55

glitter the only thing you have to worry about witb grobags is that your baby is big enough we could not use one from birth for our ds as the minimum weight is about 7lbs don't quote me always read the label and our ds was 5lb 12oz at birth so did not use until he was about 3 months which we were greatful for as he is such a wriggler. Good luck marmite but clef pallet is very fixable they had a baby on obem with one last week and they fixed it fine.

Have been have a roller coaster of a week/weekend so far. Went up to see mil and sil plus sils new baby on sat got there late as can do it in one with no traffic. My mum phones me on sun to say my grandad is going into hospital with suspected pneumonia! Then I hear its not that and they don't know what it is but he is in intensive care with a tube down his throat on 70% oxygen! Get very worried and wonder if I should rush home but feel very torn as only just got to mils and we are supposed to be going out for family dinner that night. My sisters and dad were there for my mum so decide not to go as no way of getting back on sunday trains and don't wanna leave dh and ds without car and have to come back to get them. Anyway yest morn my mum texts and says he is stable. Then she phones later that night to say he is awake. Thank god for that. So decide is ok to stay here till the planned friday. Turns out he had a heart attack about a week ago but did not realise as is diabetic! He just thought he was struggling to recover from the flu he had the week before because of his age. Now is on 40% oxygen still has tube but they are just waiting for him to get a bit better before they fix the blocked arturey.(Sp). Anway was feeling very emotional but am feeling much better about it now.

PoppyS34wantsminieggs · 27/03/2012 22:58

faintpintline my scan showed up an anterior placenta as well, and it's currently blocking the exit, so booked in for an extra scan, and may also be prone to bleeding.... Confused

Nice names, everyone. Gotta get our thinking caps on now, so difficult!

NeedlesCuties · 28/03/2012 08:48

Hope all goes well marmite I know it's hard to not panic though. You seem to have professionals taking it seriously though, which is great and you have us lot to stress out to.

hamandcheese you are a busy lady! When I had DS I was a student and took a year off. Other option was coming back after 2 weeks Hmm which I didn't agree with. In the end I took a year off, came back and did 6 months and then dropped out altogether.

Now I'm a SAHM and my 'maternity leave' this time will be: the minute I walk into hospital without DS to the minute I arrive back on the ward with DC2. Confused

DS (aged 2) awoke this morning with chickenpox. He's in good form and not itchy, so will keep an eye on him. They'd been spreading round toddler groups recently so I was just waiting for him to get them. To be honest I didn't really notice, just saw that he had a bunch of spots on his face, back and chest until DH told me they were chickenpox. Oops! Glad DH was there when DS woke up, although he's away to work now. I had them as a child, so I've been told by DH that myself and unborn DC2 will be okay.... have been trying not to Google anything, but like what Marmite was saying earlier, is hard to not be nosey.

Anyway, hope you all have a good day in the sunshine, sorry for such a long post Blush

(19+5)

hamncheese · 28/03/2012 09:50

Thanks all... west good luck with getting the diploma done before August... I'll be trying to match you as have to have produced a first chapter by then eek!

My university was similarly accomodating needles saying you go in to voluntary suspension or you don't thats it. I'm on a bursary so if I took time out I'd end up with no income so no option! Just going to push on and save up so if I do go over at the end of the PhD I can afford to. Luckily though being a research student means I never need to attend anything, just work on my own so getting archival stuff done now and saving up things I can do in the house for next year when it'll be me and baby studying hard haha!

Liking all your names, currently Charlotte seems to be our girl name but not decided on a boy one yet, like Jacob but seems quite popular, what do you think?

susie your poor grandad hope he recovers quickly!

Also my SIL sent me this link to do with calorie and sugar intake at conception perhaps more likely to make a boy... if this is true then I'll have a boy as I was (pre-pregnancy) a sugar fiend!!

hamncheese · 28/03/2012 09:50

helps when you actually post the link www.nature.com/news/2008/080422/full/news.2008.769.html

Vinolover · 28/03/2012 11:49

Good luck for today marmite!

I'm so nervous about my scan tomorrow :(. It looks although my DH can't come with me because of work and I'm so scared they're going to find something horribly wrong. I know he seems happy in there at the moment because he's leaping and jumping all over the place but I keep thinking about awful things that could be wrong with him. Must try and stay positive!! I think I'm more worried because I won't have my DH there to share it with me.

On the name front, we have decided to call him William :). Not sure yet if we will shorten it to Will or Billy, will see what he looks like first.

Time to sit in the garden and absorb some vit d :) and NOT FRET about tomorrow!

PoppyS34wantsminieggs · 28/03/2012 12:51

Good luck today marmite and eighties... Brew

Vino hope things go ok tomorrow, enjoy the sunshine and try not to worry.

susie sorry, missed your post yesterday, really very sorry to hear about your grandad, I hope he is on the mend very soon. Thanks

alisonmcg · 28/03/2012 14:54

It's good hearing everyone's stories about feeling the baby moving! Hope it happens for me soon Smile

Good luck today marmite It's easy for me to say try not to worry as haven't gone through anything like that yet but hope you're managing to stay positive.

panpipe · 28/03/2012 17:28

Hope all went ok at the scan today marmite and that they were able to be more conclusive. I haven't got any experience of cleft lip/palate but I gather it's reasonably straightforward to treat so if you do go down this route hope it all works out for you.

How's your grandad by now susie?

eighties hope all went well with the consultant today.

Not much more to report from me; DH finally got to feel baby wriggling this morning which was lovely :)

Also is anyone else wondering where on earth BabyCentre get their vegetables from? I'm at carrot stage this week which is 27cms apparently - I'd have said that's enough to feed a small family!

eightieshopaholic · 28/03/2012 19:30

Consultant went well, will be having scans at 28,32 & 36 weeks to keep eye on. Had to have more blood test as thyroid is under active on last test in Feb its worrying when I have seen 2 doctors and midwife neither off them picked this up!!! anyone know if under active is the one that makes up put on or loose weight ( thinking it must be the gain on due to my expanding body lol!!)

Vinolover · 28/03/2012 19:47

Under active means gain I'm afraid. Hope they manage to control it for you eighties.

How did you get on today marmite?
