Hope the headaches clear up Poppy and MrsMiggins*!
My sister swears by a bath and then afterwards, a cool flannel with a couple of drops of lavender on it placed over the eyes.

I think I felt proper movements yesterday, they were quite sharp and constant in certain places. When I was in car the LO was seemingly kicking me in the cervix and then the bladder and I was having to go to the loo all afternoon! Today movements have started mid morning and are a bit erratic. 18+6

Definitely having weird dreams too, although some of mine are perhaps about our pussycat and some are a little bit odd, ghostly etc and then I get a paw in my face at 4am!

Happy Friday everyone Flowers

Tusa · 16/03/2012 14:15

Hey angel I had that for the first time this morning. I've just started feeling movements for sure (had a few wiggles before but now more definite). This morning my OH felt my belly and said it felt really pregnant today, he was feeling on the opposite side to where I could feel the baby, I said nah, this feels pregnant and moved his hand over the real baby lump and he found it hysterical.

Clarabell78 · 16/03/2012 14:39

Hello all - Can I join this thread please? :-)

Am due on the 31/08 at the Southern General in Glasgow so 16+1 :-)

tubtoes · 16/03/2012 16:25

Hello

I was also getting terrible headaches and having Cranial Sacral therapy has helped loads, seriously, if you can try it then do as it is such a relief having a headache free week, I cant tell you!

All good this end, baby kicking and wriggling around, eating like a horse and my tummy popped out last weekend when i was back in uk for a visit, very wierd. Bought some Gap maternity skinny jeans which I have lived in since, so comfy!

Best to all

TT

hamncheese · 16/03/2012 17:05

Re: headaches, the not drinking enough water thing is a pile of crap if you ask me. Had the 2day-nothing helps ones for about 3 weeks (weeks 14,15,16) but since been fine. However, getting rid of them did coincide with that chest infection and taking amoxicillin for it so that does corroborate with mcbaby... something to ask midwife about??

Really cannot recommend highly enough those cool forehead strips though to take the edge off they are really soothing. I would put them on before bed, some last up to 8 hours and helped with sleep. It's no cure but worth the money for a bit of comfort. I hope all of your horrible headaches depart soon people!

God I think I've popped too tubtoes DH been off today so went for a walk to Glasgow Green and he brought the camera, took some pictures of me and man alive I think my belly is about to swallow up the whole world Blush Feel a bit like a beached whale today all achey and uncomfy. Plus now after finally getting past that hormone bladder irritation era I'm now finding bump is causing me to go all the time unless I'm totally reclined... only 18+5, what's this going to be like at 40 weeks!?!?!

Hope you all have a brilliant weekend x

hamncheese · 16/03/2012 17:07

Oh and welcome clarabell Grin !

MrsMigginslovespies · 16/03/2012 18:07

Thanks for headache tips ladies. Every little tip is helpful and I think I might get some cooling strips. Still lingering, though less bad now but want to have a nice evening now and not feel like crap. My mum did al my ironing today when she came to visit, bless her. x

therumoursaretrue · 16/03/2012 19:55

Welcome to the August thread clarabell :)

I am taking note of all the headache tips too! Have been plagued with them, also having little lights/spots floating infront of my eyes which I think must be connected!? Did read somewhere they can be a sign of pre-eclampsia but usually not till 3rd trimester, but may ring GP or midwife just to be on the safe side.

I have been having lots of lectures on developmental disorders associated with pregnancy and child-birth and risk factors of such problems. It is doing nothing for my learning, but has successfully managed to put my stress levels up significantly! The joy of studying!

Angel786 · 16/03/2012 21:28

rumours think you should call the gp as I used to be adked that question at every appointment re spots floating? Best to be safe.

Welcome Clara

Here's to the weekend all, couldn't have come soon enough!

tashaw28 · 16/03/2012 21:32

Hi clarabelle,
I've also been waking up every morning with headaches, some of which last a couple of days too :( but I also suffer from vision migranes when I'm pregnant which means I get a bright light in my eye/eyes which gets bigger and bigger turning into a circle eventually then goes, leaving me with a huge headache. They are awful and scary and I'm always wary of getting one during the day as then I can't drive etc, have checked many times with dr's optitions etc and there's nothing I can do about them :(

dragonleo · 16/03/2012 23:12

Sorry to hear about all these headaches- sounds horrific. Thank goodness the weekend is here...
I went to have a little peek at buggies in John Lewis the other day- my Dad wants to get us one and keeps asking me about it (surely a bit soon to be bugging me). Want something easy to fold, not too bulky and light (I live in central London and don't have a car). Liked the look of the Bugaboo Bee (and they have fun colours too). Does anyone have any experience of this one? Or any other suggestions that fit the things I'm after? Anyway- prob too soon to be thinking about such things!

cupoftea123 · 17/03/2012 08:42

Hi dragonlea, go for it with the buggies, i've been given one off my cousin from mama's and papa's which is 6 years old, not seen it yet but am hoping it folds up easily. It's lovely going shopping for baby especially with someone else's money :)
I'm so sorry to hear about the horrid headaches, am afraid I don't have any advice as haven't had to cope with them myself.
Rumours I'm interested to know what you're studying? Sounds a bit full on to be learning about all the possible difficulties that can happen. I would def go see your gp about the white spots you are seeing.
I've been up since half six this morning, no one woke me just my bloody body clock has decided that this is what it wants to do on a daily basis, and I was knackered by lunchtime yesterday! Perhaps my body is getting me used to early mornings in preparation...?
Happy saturday everyone

WelshLadyCDF · 17/03/2012 10:27

dragon I think if John Lewis is like mothercare you can buy baby stuff (prams etc) now and they will keep them for you til nearer the time. My mil-to beis buying us one, my fav so far is mamas and papas sola, mainly for the colours and the reviews are ok.

Lovemarmite · 17/03/2012 11:01

Hi Clarabelle, good to meet you!

I've been studying biochemistry, nutrition and medicine in a degree for the past 4 years and meant to be in my final year (made to take a year out as my uni advised against a busy August in the clinic and a little babe Wink!)
In the course I've come across lots of conditions and I quite understand that it makes you more stressed as I was quite convinced that I had most of them, yeap the joys of studying! I think this is normal, though I did manage to find out that I have gluten and dairy issues and my adrenal system was in need of some revitalisation. I went to the GP and got a full body test, with bloods, urine etc and came out being told I was really really healthy but it put my mind at rest big time.
Your learning might be telling you to see your GP too. I think it's hard to diagnose yourself but if you see some of the signs, then best to go asap.

Lovemarmite · 17/03/2012 11:03

Sorry - baby brain again!
rumours - what are you studying? I forgot to add that in my post above!

Happy weekend everyone x

geekette · 17/03/2012 13:46

I got some constipation advice from a friend who got it from her midwidfe all those years ago.

"An orange, every night just before bed"

Doesn't seem to work so well if the orange is taken in the morning instead... can't figure out why.

Done this for four weeks now. Works a treat so thought I would share.

MrsMigginslovespies · 17/03/2012 16:41

Hello all,

Headache free today such a relief (until the next one). Am also going to talk to my MW on Tuesday about them, as last night, also felt like I was on a swing/ocean when I closed my eyes. Horrid.

Had a lovely day at point to point in the spring sunshine with DH. The only horse I bet on came last but it was a great day.

Hope everyone else has a nice headache-free weekend x

PictureThis · 17/03/2012 22:35

I've had a week off work and have not stopped. Spent the earlier part of the week sorting out the house, and I mean a proper sort out, drawers, cupboards, 6 hours of ironing (which has to be THE worst job) all in aid of getting the house ready for the estate agent who came on Thursday to value the house to help us make our minds up if we should move or not. The valuation was good but we've still not decided.

In addition to that, DD is 5 tomorrow and we had her Birthday party today. I was up at the crack of dawn this mornng making cupcakes and fairy cakes, not to mention party bags etc. Anyway all the hard work was worth it as they all had a lovely time but I am bloody exhausted. My back is killing me and I feel like I could do with another week off just to get over this one.Grin

Vinolover · 18/03/2012 07:39

Happy mothers day to you all :)

picture your week off sounds very exhausting! I hope you manage to ease your way back into work!
I have a week of the week after next and cannot wait! I have a hair appt booked and my anomaly scan :). It will be great to see the little fella again.

With regards to the headaches - when I spoke to my MW about them she said they were hormonal but they have eased since I cut back on cakes, chocolate and sweets and White bread. It could be coincidence but I'm just grateful they've gone. I do feel for you because they were just awful :(

I hope everyone has a lovely day today :). I have all the family round for dinner but am just waiting for my breakfast in bed Grin

farmerswifey · 18/03/2012 08:42

Happy Mothers Day Everyone!

Received a card from bump this morning saying 'See you soon' Bless my wonderful loopy husband :) Only 135 days to go! :o

Westcountrylovescheese · 18/03/2012 09:06

Farmerswifey, that is so cute! A little mad, but cute. Did you cry? I think I would have if DH did this to me as I'm all hormonal. He did include 'Bump' in our card to his mum though....

MrsMigginslovespies · 18/03/2012 10:00

Ahh, that's lovely Farmerswifey! I've not had anothing as DH thinks I'm not a mummy yet...but have made it plain I'd like something next year.

Interesting re cutting out cakes/bread etc. That might finish me off as I've eaten a lot of wheat etc but might give it a go once I've seen my MW on Tuesday as STILL feel a bit achey today too.

Lovely and sunny again here so going to make the most of it. Happy Mother's Day everyone Thanks Brew Biscuit

farmerswifey · 18/03/2012 10:03

Ooh yes, I most definitely cried. I cry about just everything at the moment; adverts, songs, books you name it. I cried yesterday because I saw a duck and "it was just too beautiful" Blush

dragonleo · 18/03/2012 12:24

haha i'm hearing you all on the emotional front! Happy Mothers Day all. DP is in New York visiting family at the moment but I did get some flowers from the postman yesterday from 'pip'- our fetal name! Obvs I cried!

I think the bump is ready to have a piccy uploaded now!

Also thanks all for the buggy advice- I like the idea of ordering and having it held in the shop.

Have a fab day

PoppyS34wantsgoatscheese · 18/03/2012 17:30

Welcome Clara & congrats...

Thanks for all the tips about the headaches, all gratefully received. :)

For all those with moving bumps, how often should you feel the baby move at this early stage? Should it be every day, or will it just be flutters every once in a while?
