I remember being a bit fed up the last few weeks when pg with DS.

This time around I have about 10 weeks work left and really can't be bothered Blush it's awful!

Am I the only lazy fed up one? :(

Jaggy, ditto! Counting the days.. :)

Work sucks Sad
I spent Thur afternoon in the Maternity Unit. My legs are black & blue from scratching so much, have been so itchy for almost 3 weeks, mentioned to GP (when I went about heartburn - got Omeprazole, it's a miracle cure!!), he gave me Calamine aqueous cream. But then came on here and read a post about intense itching and women suggested getting checked out. Blood all came back fine, so prescribed some antihistamines and more cream.
And, I think I am developing SPD. Have had pain in the pubic and groin area for around 2 weeks, gets worse as day goes on. Had my 22 month old nephew at the park on Sat afternoon and was almost crying with the pain once I got to bed on Sat night - in my lower back (like sciatic pain) my right hip and general undercarriage area Sad. And it hurts to try to move in bed, or get up to go to the loo. I hobble like an old lady!
Have now realised that the pain has been bad on the days I've been to the gym (had been struggling on crosstrainer despite putting resistance down really low), so am thinking that's my gym routine out for the time being.
Have been reading the SPD thread so have found some good advice.
Phew, this turned into a major moan!! Sorry!
On the plus side, my heartburn is cured Smile
And I have sent yet another of my "here's one I prepared earlier" hand over e-mails yesterday, which takes me one step closer to the finish line!

13th April is my las day. 5 weeks on Friday, 23 working days Grin Grin

And, have some fairy cakes (never too early for fairy cakes, although I may have to ration mine to 3/day 1/day now that I can't exercise much) for listening to my woes! BiscuitBiscuit Smile

CGall · 06/03/2012 10:15

Thanks oltob,
I know I need to be here to do things, but just knowing that there is exactly 1 week left is really making the count down hard, its like that Friday feeling every day now!
I should be at a staff planning residential today and tomorrow but stayed in office to get work done. I have been here an hour and haven't done anything yet!
Justwant and everyone else, it must be really hard with spd, the hip problems I have are making it hard enough to sit still long enough to get work done!

justwantcheese · 06/03/2012 12:52

i hate work ,my boss hates me for being pregnant. can't wait to finish Smile

BlueCrane · 06/03/2012 15:51

I fell off the thread as have actually been getting some work done Smile but have been in meetings all day today and my brain is officially mush as a result so not sure I'm going to get much more done today (1hr45 still to go Blush )

BUT...the great thing is that I am 29 weeks today and only have 28 more working days left...finish 27th April Grin woohoo!! I also have the week off next week and then out of the remaining weeks only 2 of them are full weeks due to all the bank holidays and the odd extra day of AL I'm taking!

missg so glad the heartburn seems to be cured but booo for the spd like pain! I am also in agony trying to get up off the sofa if I've sat down there in the evening and rolling over in bed is ridiculous too! I was in lots more pain Sunday night and couldn't work out why but then remembered carrying my friend's 3 yr old for a while during the day Blush so that probably hadn't helped - in the same way your gym routine not helping.

Right...ought to try and at least look as if I'm doing some work...catch up again soon!

balkanscot · 06/03/2012 18:01

16 March is coming up - yay! I can then collapse in a heap on the couch and not move until the baby is due. I am slowly stopping to get bothered about emails, reports, projects, office politics and just thinking about the baby for a change.

Zay04 · 06/03/2012 19:11

I remeber posting on here when I had 5 weeks left, not only 3 days...eeekkk!! Can't understand where time has gone, really looking forward to putting my feet up but also a bit nervous about it all, imagine this weekend it will be Sunday night and for the first time in years, I will have no work to get up for in the morning....bliss

Missgiraffe1 · 07/03/2012 11:24

cheese when do you finish?

CGall hope you aren't too stressed in your last week. You can only do so much.

Blue have also been busy at work, annoyingly so, although it has made the last week fly by. Sorry to hear you're also having the pelvic pain issues. Running after and picking up toddlers does not help. Can't imagine how women with SPD and little ones manage!

Zay congrats on almost reaching the finish line! I am not one bit Envy.... honest Hmm

You too Balkan not long at all!

Had my first parenting class last night. The rest were all first time parents. Left feeling smug as a couple said they couldn't believe I had an almost 16 year old Grin Make up is a wonderful invention.

justwantcheese · 07/03/2012 12:30

missgiraffe1 hi i finish on the 17th may, working full time til ensd of march and then 4 days. have bad spd and boss piling the work on! grrr. can't wait to leave after working here 15 years! whats the age didd between yours, mine is 9 years and then this one Smile

Missgiraffe1 · 07/03/2012 17:05

Cheese there will be 15 years and 11 months between my 2! Starting all over again - can't wait Smile. I bet your 9 year old will love having a baby around.
Sorry your boss is being a dick. At least having 3 days off/week should make it a bit more bearable - just hope you get the appropriate reduction in workload too though! My boss said he'd try to arrange work so that I could wind down a bit before stopping, but I can't see that happening.

heartmoonshadow · 08/03/2012 09:10

Although I am a SAHM now (embarrassed to say that on this thread) I understand what you are all going through with first pregnancy I worked up until I was forced to go into hospital so I had no maternity leave to myself prior to baby being born. This time I am 32 weeks and although I am fatter than before (did not lose baby weight very well or the flab from 35 years prior :) I am finding this pregnancy slightly less stressful. At least touch wood I have not got swollen ankles, hands and fingers like last time yet, although it did start about 32/33 weeks before.

My "maternity leave" this time consists of each SIL taking my DS for 1/2 a day a week each to give me two free mornings to get stuff done for the new baby from week 35. They both offered more but I don't like to take advantage and I think that this is a lovely gesture from them both. DH is being really good and letting my have lie ins at the weekend dependent on DS mood (sometimes only mummy will do!)

But good luck to all who are still beavering away at work I hope it all goes well and that you get your rest before you little ones arrive.

justwantcheese · 08/03/2012 12:54

thanks missgiraffe i think its nice to have an age gap as we have our own helper/baby sitter on hand! hope you are well.

balkanscot · 09/03/2012 16:09

Hello ladies,

One more week to go, in terms of working days it stands at 4 (half day on Wednesday due to MW appt., half day on Friday due to Ante-Natal classes). I am not accepting any more new work tasks from my boss even though he is itching to give them to me (i.e., he is desperate as he doesn't have a clue and there will be a month between me leaving and my cover starting).

And I am really running out of energy, i.e., working for 8 hours 5 days a week - it is just not happening anymore (I tend to switch off as soon as I have eaten my weight in lunch, at around 12:30) - my feet have started swelling up (no preeclamsia, thankfully, have just asked to be examined after the ante-natal class this afternoon) and am just generally soooo much slower getting ready in the mornings.

Rooting for all of you still at work! Brew

missingmymarbles · 09/03/2012 16:21

Have 17 shifts left.

justwantcheese · 10/03/2012 15:08

at work today saturday and could so fall asleep at my desk, really cannot be arsed!

Zay04 · 10/03/2012 16:34

Finished work yesterday, finally. Now only 2 weeks left till due date. Am so glad, but now really bored waiting for baby to come and its only been one day, goodness knows what I am going to do for the rest of the week.

Yummymummyyobe1 · 11/03/2012 20:34

14 working days left until leave starts and then only a month until baby is due. xx

missingmymarbles · 11/03/2012 21:36

miscounted - 15 left woop!! Grin

Badgerina · 11/03/2012 21:53

Yes. That is my answer. YES.

CGall · 12/03/2012 12:35

Hope everyone is still doing ok.

I think it doesnt matter what job you do or how much time you have left, when your heads goes you just need a break, so even if people have a month left at work, its hard to keep the head together when you can see the end.

At the weekend I thought, ok two days to go, but I think that was a bad idea, it sent my head loopy last night as then the whole 'baby coming' thoughts kicked in.

good luck with crappy bosses, work stress and spd and all the other pains at work, as I didnt realise how the tolerance levels would decrease at this stage!

Today and tomoro.... I shold get back to work!!!

jaggythistle · 13/03/2012 20:34

my head is totally away. had scheduled hospital appointment for chat about previous emcs and plans for vbac etc and just want to think about birth/baby things now, not work drivel.

zero interest in work, in fact I'd quite like to hide somewhere and not think about anything. i might let DS and DH hide too though.

2 and a bit weeks to go. next week won't be too bad as i like what I'm doing, but the last week will be a bit rubbish.

had a very tired wee boy to try and wrestle to bed tonight, he didn't get all his usual nap due to building work in the garden, so was a tad overtired and mental even though we got him ready early. (he's 2.6)I stayed and gave him some extra cuddles to try and keep him from bouncing off the walls.

don't want to think about garden work either. DH wants to get MIL and FIL through to help watch DS while he works. this does not fit in with my hiding plans. they mean well but would drive me nuts and/or let DS play in traffic.

Ladies, maternity leave starts from today!! Strictly speaking I am on annual leave from today until 16 April, when maternity leave proper starts, but hey, I am not at work! So far, I am loving every second being off. And my feet have stopped swelling as much.

Hang on in there, there is nothing sweeter than going out of the office through that door, knowing that you won't be back for a while. Can finally start concentrating on packing the hospital bag, getting the pram delivered, finally buying baby clothes, etc.

jaggythistle · 20/03/2012 06:18

yay Balkan! enjoy your freedom. Grin

10 working days left and it's going to be a struggle.

even wrestling a 2.6 year old all day will be more fun.

hoping that DS doesn't drop his 2 hour afternoon nap in the next 2 weeks! DH is a SAHD, but the wee man is always looking for me to see what I'm up to, i guess it's a bit of a novelty when I'm at home.
if i try and get a 45 min lie in, there's a wee voice shouting 'where's mummy? i go and see her!' Ach well, he's cute so he gets away with it.

who else is still at work? and grumpy like me

oltob · 20/03/2012 13:18

me - and will be until Easter. I agree jaggy it's getting very hard, although at times still easier than my day off with DD. Still she'll be in nursery 3 days a week and has a daddy daycare day one day too so there's going to be plenty of time for my telly box sets - I hope, oh & packing of aformentioned hospital bag & getting baby clothes out & sorted, keep forgetting there'll be a new baby at the end of this.
Well done Balkan, relax, feet up and enjoy. I look forward to joining you.

jaggythistle · 20/03/2012 16:58

I have actually achieved washing a drawer full of tiny person clothes.

The car seat is looked out.

Need to pin DH down on whether we are getting a new pram or not, DS's one was good but had annoying features which he swore at quite a lot!

There is a backpack stuffed with some nighties, big pants and maternity pads which counts as my hospital bag effort so far....

Still feel v unready for new baby!
