I remember being a bit fed up the last few weeks when pg with DS.

This time around I have about 10 weeks work left and really can't be bothered Blush it's awful!

Am I the only lazy fed up one? :(

I just can't catch DS when he's away to do something he shouldn't! Way to quick for me especially if I have sat on the floor and am beached.

I can empathise, the number of times I've found myself begging cajoling DD to co-operate whilst she's literally running rings around me. I could (and have) cry.
By chance I was given this as one of my Mothers' Day presents. bib, strangely topical for this thread (I hope he's not stalking me) and all off his own back. You can take the girl out of Scotland and all that... I've just spotted the Cremola Foam things, that takes me right back.

BlueCrane · 22/03/2012 12:48

Hello all...I fell off the thread again Blush sorry...but it was partly due to having a week off last week...but our spare room now actually resembles a nursery Smile Last big work deadline to finish for next Wednesday and then I can (sort of/hopefully) start to wind down...only 23 more working days to go as well Grin Grin

joannita · 22/03/2012 13:46

yes, what do you think I'm doing on mumsnet! I should be working. I'm self employed too so lack of motivation is even more worrying!

jaggythistle · 26/03/2012 12:25

Ok, last week! Get me out of here.....

How are team lazy arse doing this week? :)

Congrats Balkan Hope you're enjoying your maternity leave freedom Smile

Last week Jaggy ?? The fact that you started this thread when you had 10 weeks to go, and are now down to the last few days, is really motivating me ..... to procrastinate even more Grin Grin

Another amazing day on the West Coast of Scotland today Smile It was my birthday on Saturday, so around 25 friends and family came round for afternoon tea with a mountain of cakes. Pimms cocktails out of teapots too - well, non-alcholic pear cider for me anyway. Was a great day... until my nephew fell and split his eye lid open! Sad It looked way worse that it was. When my Dad brought him round the corner, his face was literally covered in blood! My SILs a nurse though, so didn't panic (unlike me and my BF who screamed in unison "Oh My God!" at the top of our voices, which set him off crying even though he was actually fairly calm about the whole thing - ooops). Trip to A&E and 4 steri-strips later, he was back to fleeing round the garden at warp speed. Then we had a powercut! It was a birthday to remember.

12 days and counting Smile Smile Smile My boss agreed last week that I can be desk bound from now on. I was starting to feel the pressure of the meetings, especially travelling to them. Wasn't doing my pelvic/hip pain any good. So feel I have reached a milestone already. As I work from home, I can sit in the back garden (on my half-finished decking) at lunchtime. Along with DD, who is off school after throwing up for 7 hours straight last night! She may be almost 16, but she's still my baby, especially when she's sick (just hope I don't catch her bug!)

One of my friends is in labour. Her waters broke in M&S on Sat afternoon (apparently they send you a hamper if that happens!) but still no baby. Am impatiently eagerly awaiting some news!

balkanscot · 26/03/2012 14:02

Missgiraffe1, it's pure bliss, entering second week of annual leave now (maternity leave doesn't kick in until 16 April). I am so relieved not having to be at work anymore and so far, I don't miss it at all (I feel I would be perfectly happy not ever having to set foot in the office; alas, the bills and such like practicalities tell me this won't be possible).

Finally spring/summer have arrived on the east coast, too (had to pull the shutters as the living room is south facing and it is too hot) - I've just been to the local swimming pool for a relaxing swim. No more looking at the clock, rushing to finish off swimming before getting to work for 9am. Luxury!

Glad to hear your nephew is OK, I am such a panicker, not sure how I will cope with the baby ever being ill/stuff happening to him which is normal part of growing up (MW said that every single one of us in the ante-natal class will visit Royal Sick Kids' Hospital in Edinburgh at least once before the baby is 5). Part and parcel of life, I guess.

Hope DD is OK now.

Everyone who still has to work - hang on in there, with each day you are closer to being off. Brew

balkanscot · 26/03/2012 14:05

Good luck to your friend, Missgiraffe1, hope you hear some good news soon!

BlueCrane · 26/03/2012 14:17

Afternoon all...21 days left in the office to go!!! Will be busy busy until this weds and then I can start to wind down...which is good as I'm back to fairly sleepless nights what with pelvic pain, toilet trips and generally/randomly being awake rather than asleep!!

Happy birthday missg Smile

jaggy yeah for it being your last week Grin

balkans I am SO looking forward to exactly what you describe when I finish...bliss...

Ho hum...back to work I go, need to get this project finished and not fall asleep even though I am soooo tired

Missgiraffe1 · 26/03/2012 14:31

Sounds like bliss Balkan Enjoy! What's your due date?
DD getting back to her usual self, thanks.

Hello Blue!! Thinking back to earlier days, and current symptons/ailments/general groans, it sounds like you and I are having very similar experiences of pregnancy! I am the same during the night and am so tired during the day as result. And have been so busy at work this past few weeks, I've barely been on MN Angry Deskbound now though, and am not taking on any new cases as of today, so finally feeling like I'm on the wind down Smile Roll on Wednesday for you!

jaggythistle · 27/03/2012 14:12

Sorry, just on to whine. I thought I'd be quite happy this week, counting the days.

instead i am tired and emotional and my heart is just not in it at all. I am procrastination like mad and making my own life difficult. :(

I went home and greeted last night - DH was laughing cos he asked me if I wanted pizza for tea and I started crying again as I said yes. Darn hormones.

Virtual kick up the bum please!

I am also an illness panicker - DS had a high temp and was poorly at the weekend and I was worrying my wee butt off and checking him in the night when I was up for a wee. Blush What will I be like with 2 Shock

Channelling happy, positive, tear-free thoughts Jaggy's way....

Hope DS is better now. I have picked up my DDs sickness bug, feel grim (although not as grim as I thought I would. I have had worse stomach bugs to be honest)

4 days! You can do it!! PMA PMA PMA!!

BlueCrane · 27/03/2012 19:25

Go jaggy not long now Grin

missg really hope you haven't got the lurgy...

I'm still at work...waiting for my boss to finish something BUT...so so nearly there with my last project deadline before I finish...means I need to be in the office by 8am tomorrow though [groan] but think I might try and sneak out early...then only 20 working days to go Grin

jaggythistle · 27/03/2012 20:25

DS seems to be all better and full of beans, although he apparently treated daddy to spectacular nappies yesterday! touch wood i am the only one in the house not to have had a lurgy of some sort in the last week.

hope you're all better soon. work was a bit better today, I'm still a disorganised mess though. had to stay late a bit to finish off today.

my boss looks a bit stressed when i mention it's my last week, i must obviously be indispensable when not being useless. Hmm

OP posts:
BlueCrane · 28/03/2012 11:10

project deadline done...not without last minute stresses though when the Client rang at 10:10am to ask where our bid was (it was due in at 12noon, or so we thought) apparently when they gave everyone an extra couple of weeks on the deadline they changed it from 12 to 10am but all other documentation (other than that email still said 12 Hmm) so...slight panic emailing the summary over but thankfully they've still accepted it and even apologised for not making it clearer

BUT...now just (as I write this) had a call to say they need more of a cost breakdown so looks as though my long lunch in town might not be happenning Angry and having been here til 8pm and back in at 8am this morning I'm feeling veeeryyy sleepy so a bit fed up with it all now!

Hope everyone else is having a better day!

vanimal · 28/03/2012 12:00

I am only 20 weeks today and can't wait to finish working - only another 16 weeks or so until I can Hmm

I work from home full time, but I really can't be arsed, especially with the weather being so lovely. I have 2 DDs in daycare whilst I am working, I would much rather be enjoying the time with them before DC3 pops out.

But as I am self-employed I can't be lazy and need to stay on tops of things.

I already had a client mention that my work this week was not as good as usual, and asked if I had too much work on! I have been freelancing with them for over 2 years, and that's the first time they have ever commented on my work being below par, so I need to pull my socks up and beat the apathy!

Good to know I am not the only one feeling this way though :)

balkanscot · 28/03/2012 12:56

Missgiraffe1, due date is 17 April.

BlueCrane, yikes, these are long hours that you are doing! I hope it eases off after today, with the bid in and everything else.

BlueCrane · 28/03/2012 18:54

I hope so too! I am exhausted and have stuff happening this evening that I can't get out of which is a pain. Midwife app tomorrow morning so I will be late into work, so a short day...hopefully the client won't have filled my inbox with queries by the time iget into the office! I would dearly love to win this project as a sort of parting shot since its my last one before i go n mat leave but I am really lacking on the energy front which makes my enthusiasm wane rather!

Take care all!

TheBreadstick · 29/03/2012 12:07

Hey! Been lurking on this thread for a while now - I'm 37+5 and finish work tomorrow! Hoorah! I've definitely hit the wall this week - so tired, feeling heavy and uncomfortably hot!

I've pretty much completed my handover, and now I'm just sat babysitting my mat. cover - boss is on leave, sun is shining, and the second hand is ticking at slow, slow pace ... hurry up tomorrow at 5pm!

Bread x

oltob · 29/03/2012 13:25

congratulations breadstick you've done brilliantly. I'm 34+4 and will finish next week, with a couple of days sometime in April from home. I can't quite tear myself away...
blue congats to you on reaching your deadline, I don't know how you've managed those hours. I am permanently shattered now with next to no sleep at night and mainlining gaviscon - I really should have gone for some tablets.
jaggy the end is most definitely in sight - wishing for lurgy free ML for us all. vanimal I feel for you at 20wks, but at least you're over half way there now. When people say 'oh not long to go now' yes finishing work has come round all of a sudden, and all been a bit manic, but struggling around with a humungus lump on the front of you, huffing and puffing, with no sleep and frankly very ill humour for another 5.5wks still seems like a long sentence.

There 'poor me' post done. Wishing happy and positive thoughts to you all. I hope to be able to regain some at some point in the future.

Missgiraffe1 · 29/03/2012 13:28

zero energy + zero motivation = zero work getting done!

Blue hope your client has been nice to you.

Hey there Vanimal and Bread
Vanimal, I think I was around 25 weeks when I joined this thread, and here I am almost 35weeks with the finish line in sight. Despite all my moans and groans, thinking back, it has actually gone in quite quickly!

My boss is also on leave this week - it is bliss.

Well, I had the madwife yesterday and was discussing my birth plan. I couldn't remember the correct name for the self-administered pain relief I might opt for if I need it, so just told her what I had been calling it: Rentafemidom.
Clearly didn't share my sense of humour, as she just looked at me and said "remifentanil?" and I was like, "yeah, that must be it". Blush

Oh, and my friend had a little girl! All doing well, I can't wait to get my hands on their little bundle of gorgeousness! She's adorable Smile

Missgiraffe1 · 29/03/2012 13:31

X posts Oltob I strongly recommend Omeprazole, it was a magic cure for me. Wish I hadn't suffered for so long without it!

BlueCrane · 29/03/2012 13:43

oltob not sure how I managed to do those hours either - still exhausted today!! Tried to have a bit of a lie in before my MW app this morning but DH had set his alarm(s) fairly early and then on 'waking' put them on dose for about half an hour so they went off every five mins during that time...he of course fell back fast asleep in between each alarm buzz but I was wide awake after the very first one Envy I wasn't v pleased!

Thankfully on reaching work I haven't got any queries (yet!) so can sort my desk and inbox out surf MN and catch up on some home admin with a glazed sleepy look on my face Found out this morning at 31wk MW check that I may have a UTI which would explain the ever increasing need to pee only for nothing to really happen (sorry TMI!) and the shooting pains I've had down there...both of which I'd just put down to increasing bump size Blush no antibiotics yet, got to wait for test results on Tuesday! So need to keep up my fluid intake (though not sure gaviscon counts Hmm ) and might need to go and buy some cranberry juice too!

bread well done on reaching the 'end of work' milestone Smile

missg how many more days have you got at work now...I finish 4 weeks today and bank hols and a day's AL I have just 18 working days left Grin

oltob · 29/03/2012 13:43

thanks missg I won't be seeing the Dr until 38 wks at the moment. I've already had 2 ante natal appts this week, and a DAU one tomorrow. Bloody BP and white coat syndrome, thought I'd managed to dodge it so far this time, hey ho. I might try and get an emergency appt when I'm off on Monday, it is silly to suffer if avoidable, it's just been so full-on with everything else.
LOL at rentafemidom, isn't that a case of horse and bolted (can't even think of the cliche am that brain dead). I must get the cellophane off my effective birthing CD and get down to some heavy breathing.

Are you still on for the 6th? When do you finish? Currently my pip is transverse so will be having another scan at 36 wks to see if he's moved, fingers crossed, I don't really want to go CS if I can avoid it.
