I remember being a bit fed up the last few weeks when pg with DS.

This time around I have about 10 weeks work left and really can't be bothered Blush it's awful!

Am I the only lazy fed up one? :(

Missgiraffe1 · 13/04/2012 15:09

Awe, thanks Blue

oltob · 13/04/2012 18:35

hello ladies, I couldn't resist the call of cake. Congrats on your last day missg and hang on in there blue

my ML hasn't really gone to plan this week with me doing a little bit too much work in it! I have drawn the line this afternoon, the 'out of office' is on and pending one or two last things early next week, fingers crossed possibly even tonight, that will be it.

Today I did manage to fit in a lot of sleeping too though, just in time as am now fighting the cold that's laid low DD all week. Still the weekend is here Smile and wishing a lovely time to all.

oltob · 13/04/2012 18:39

ps. blue I remember having to wait until after DD was born to have a crown fitted (to my tooth Grin). Weirdly it was quite a day out for us all as had to travel back to old dentist which was two moves before and a bit of a trek. The bonus is you get it for free though, well heavily discounted, the temporary filling lasted fine btw.

BlueCrane · 18/04/2012 16:50

The countdown continues...40mins left today, half day tomorrow, half day on Friday (both due to appointments), then a full 5 days next week...it is slowly slowly getting closer Grin but now I have a stinking cold and am definitely in keeping with the title of the thread as have a big bag of cotton wool for a brain and am utterly useless! I had the day off (annual leave) on Monday and then stayed home sick yesterday but have my 'farewell' meal with work tonight so dragged myself in but at the moment rather fancy crawling home to bed than chatting to everyone and attempting to eat a nice Italian meal whilst wondering what hideousness of heartburn will follow at 1am Grin

missg I hope you have your feet up and are resting and enjoying your first week of mat leave!!! I can't remember when you're due but have a feeling it's a couple of weeks before me - mid May??

oltob hope you've managed not to do any work this week and are relaxing!! Tooth not feeling too bad though I have had a bit of a dull ache there so hoping nothing untoward is going on underneath the temporary filling! Hope your cold has lifted?

Really hoping I feel a bit more with it tomorrow as I do have some work to do but have somehow managed to 'look' busy today without actually acheiving anything at all Blush suspect someone might notice if I do the same again tomorrow afternoon!!

jaggythistle · 18/04/2012 18:35

just popping in to tell you that my wee DS2 arrived this morning a week early! clearly not as lazy as his mummy. :)

hope the countdown passes quick blue!

Ooh jaggy fantastic news!! Thanks for letting us know!

I'm just home from a v frustrating 'farewell' meal with the guys from work. Feel quite upset tbh as i was quite shocked when they actually arranged something and try as I might not to be hopeful that they might do something a little special I really should've stuck to my original instincts of not expecting anything. I only dragged myself into work today with this silly cold, feeling pretty rough, as we were going out tonight and really feel as though I wish I hadn't bothered. Evening was passable as a department evening out but useless as any sort of farewell as not even a mention of the fact that I'm going was made and I certainly wasn't made to feel special in the slightest! I have another week left and have now decided that I just need resign myself to the fact that they probably won't even manage to get a card sorted let alone a gift or anything...since its me that normally organises this for everyone else and the rest of them are just plain useless. I have been there for 6 years though and worked v v hard during that time so find it quite upsetting if I'm honest. Sorry about the rant, not even sure if anyone's still really viewing the thread but just needed to vent as feeling very tearful about the whole thing! DH v frustrated on my behalf too but nothing that he can do about it either really though he quite fancies giving my boss a good talking to Pregnancy hormones and emotions not really helping either. Must take a deep breathe and try to calm down. Mw appointment in the morning so at least I only have a half day...right, let's try and get some sleep...

oltob · 19/04/2012 08:40

Congratulations jaggy - a real baby already wow, the realisation is slowly dawning. I have half packed my hospital bag and found DD's non-pink baby clothes and washed and put away. I love my new storage thingymajig for the spare room wardrobe, basket per age bracket. Serious nesting OCD
blue sorry to hear that work are being rubbish, they may still surprise you but I think the best thing is to expect nothing and then you can't be disappointed. The end is in sight, hang in there chicken or should I say crane.

Missgiraffe1 · 19/04/2012 15:21

Yeah! Congrats Jaggy!! Thanks for letting us know! Welcome to the world babyjaggy. Hope you are both well and DS1 is loving his wee brother! This gives me hope, am sooooo desperate to go early! 2 weeks 3 days......

"Blue* I totally understand why you feel let down by your meal. It would've been nice if someone had at least taken a minute to announce the purpose of the meal and to wish you well etc. I had a lunch with my immediate team the week before I left but one of them didn't show - the one who happened to have my present (?? I was left wondering if there was actually a present Hmm) and I felt a bit deflated afterwards. On my last day, I met my boss for lunch and he gave me the present. It was a Sanctuary Mum-to-be gift set. Felt like very little thought had been put into it. They know I'm having a boy, and I've seen what other people have been given in the past (lovely baskets with cute baby stuff AND mum-to-be stuff) so mine seemed a little inadequate in comparison (been here over 7.5 years).
As I work from home, I logged off (at 5.30pm, 1.5 hours later than I should have) and was like "is this it?" Then had a go at my DH for not bringing me flowers to celebrate my last day of work Blush (apologised straight away of course). It just all felt like a bit of a anti-climax and a non-event.
But this week .... I NO LONGER CARE!
And neither will you blue . I don't think it's any reflection on you, I'd put it down to the environment you work in, and the lack of appreciation/understanding your colleagues have of the significance of this to you. 5 1/2 days.... you can do it!!! Grin

Hi Oltob still hanging in there? I have been mopping floors and cleaning bathrooms today. Am sore now though. Will have to do absolutely nothing tomorrow to compensate Smile

BlueCrane · 19/04/2012 15:47

Thanks oltob and missg I've calmed down a little but was still a teary mess this morning as I hardly slept last night due to having got so worked up and having this silly cold! Burst into tears on my MW this morning Blush and she suggested that I take some time out to rest and try and kick this cold so I rang work and said I won't be in today, came home and got back into bed which was bliss!! It really is a sign I'm not feeling well if I just resign to going back to bed and do nothing, I normally get so frustrated when I'm not well but today I just couldn't care less and just need to do nothing! I have another NCT class in the morning so will see how I feel after that as to whether I go into work tomorrow or just wait until Monday now! I do have stuff to do but most of it is tidying/sorting so I think next week will be adequate in terms of time to get it done and TBH I got so little done yesterday with my cotton wool brain that I'm better off getting rid of this cold first!

missg I would've been v annoyed with the gift you got too, especially when you know others have been made much more of a fuss of! But, so glad that you are now just able to relax and enjoy your mat leave! Sounds as though there's some serious nesting going on between you and oltob Grin which is a great sign!!

jaggy really hope you're doing well and little mini jaggy is settling well into life in the big wide world!!

I have graduated from bed to sofa for the afternoon but intend doing very little for the rest of the day except maybe reading my book, a bit of MN and eating the large bar of Galaxy chocolate DH popped home with earlier when he came to check on me!

Missgiraffe1 · 19/04/2012 16:20

And there are only 4 things in the gift set, it's not as if it's a massive, fancy one Grin Grin

Glad you've taken the day off though, sounds like it's well needed. Apparently, colds take longer to lift when you're exhausted and not well rested. My cousin just dropped in with her 6 month old (who stayed sleeping for the whole time Sad) and some lemon muffins, so have one on me - Dr Giraffe's orders Smile

I've been paying DD to clean the bathrooms these past few months, but she hasn't been doing them to my ocd standards as well as I would like them to be done. You know what they say: "If you want a job done right....."

Am now planning to sit on the sofa and watch last night's Apprentice. And, since DH is working from home today, he says he'll make the dinner. Joy!

BlueCrane · 19/04/2012 16:37

yummy Grin thanks missg I know exactly which set you've got...the body butter stuff is fab by the way and I swear it's what's kept my bump free of stretch marks, but that aside it's not really what you'd have expected for a leaving gift!! Glad to hear you're resting after your bathroom cleaning!!

oltob · 19/04/2012 23:00

hi missg still hanging in, a frustrating visit to DAU this evening, the white coat hypertension has reared it's head again, aside. Toooo annoying to go into, but I have a feeling I'm going to be accepting induction a lot earlier (40wks) so will be doing everything possible to get this pip out early. Budge up so I can get scrubbing, although just one day of complete leisure before the big day would be lovely Confused

jaggy congrats again, any more details to remind us that this is all worthwhile. I really hope DS2 is settling in well and family thistle are bedding down nicely.

BlueCrane · 20/04/2012 15:06

Decided to hunker down at home again this afternoon after my NCT class this morning Blush I did sleep a lot better last night but just can't face the warmth of the office this afternoon (it's like a sauna in there!), though I did get a colleague to leave my laptop in reception for me to pick up so will have a look at emails shortly! Well...on the work front there is at least some good news though as it looks as though we have reached preferred bidder stage on the project I submitted the other week so looks as though all the hard work and stress was worth it Grin and so nice to finish on a good note providing they don't discover I had any major baby-brain moments and made any mistakes in it that is!! soooo, after my slacking today that means I just have 5 days next week to contend with and then that is it Shock what a crazy thought!

oltob sorry to hear about the possible induction, how many weeks are you now? Are you starting on the walking, pineapple, hot curry and raspberry leaf tea yet?

missg hope you had a rest after all that cleaning and aren't working yourself too hard with nesting today! Make sure you put your feet up at least a little bit!

jaggy hope all is going well at chez-Jaggy with your LO! I haven't fully got my head around having an actual newborn in the house but I am starting to imagine life post-bump as best I can!

Right...anyone for a Brew ?

Missgiraffe1 · 01/05/2012 18:22

Everyone working hard then??
Blue, you'll have finished now?! How does it feel? I have been floored by a horrible cold for a week so have gone from doing everything in my power to bring on labour to hoping the wee guy stays put for a few days longer. Sunday is due date, seriously thought I'd have had baby by now as DD was 10days early.
Hope everyone is surviving at work, and counting down the days to freedom.

missingmymarbles · 01/05/2012 19:15

only 2 more shifts and then i'm finished and it can't come soon enough Grin

jaggythistle · 02/05/2012 11:10

hi all, spotted you on my threads I'm on and remembered to come back for updates!

DS2 is 2 weeks old today and so far is quite a laid back wee chap. he's actually having a big sleep in his crib right now Shock DS1 did not do this letting himself be put down thing so i am a bit lost! when he wakes up it will be all go as he will no doubt be ravenous but do a poo as well, so he'll scream through a nappy change till i can sit down and feed him.

feeding has gone great, he's now over 8lb having put on nearly a pound in a week. must take after mummy, likes his food and sleep!

DS1 coping ok, seems happy being a big brother and will say good morning to DS2 and give him a wee kiss goodnight if we bring him through at bedtime.

not missing work really, just my friends and a bit of gossip!

good luck everyone, look forward to hearing about your newborn snuggles!

Lovely to hear from you jaggy. And even more lovely to hear how well & contented baby thistle is Smile Sounds like a dream baby. I've ordered one of those Grin
Sounds like ds1 is enjoying being a big brother. My DD is in the middle of her standard grades just now, so this baby's arrival is bound to be a bit disruptive for her. But she can always escape to my dads to study.
My due date is Sunday. Am sooo fed up waiting!

BlueCrane · 08/05/2012 13:12

Just spotted this on my 'watched threads' I'm now over a week into mat leave and am not really missing work at all Grin in fact am sooo sleepy most of the time that there's no way I could still manage a day in the office! Only 37 weeks today too!

missg how are you doing? I was wondering when your edd was!

jaggy so glad all is going well!

marbles you must be finished with work now - well done!

My DM arrives on Saturday so will be nice to have some company during the day when DH is at work and to help keep me occupied in the moments when I do start to feel bored...have a feeling there will be more of those as I get closer to, and probably past edd!

OTTMummA · 08/05/2012 15:57

Hi, new to this thread, but just want to say,, 13 days to go!!!!! I am so sore and tired, can't wait :-)

Missgiraffe1 · 08/05/2012 19:33

Hello everyone, just letting you know my LO, Ruairidh, made his way into the world on Friday 4th May, 2 days before edd.
Had bloody show from thur morning, waters broke 12.30am fri morning, had period-type pain from around 5am, then contractions (recognisable as such anyway) started just after 8am, was 6cm by time I got to hospital. Straight in pool, and delivered at 1.37pm.
Was a really relaxed labour & birth, and ruairidh is just amazing. He weighed 7lb 14oz, and is doing great. Not much sleep going on at the mo, milk came in yest & have sore nipples, but MW has checked positioning & I can hear him gulping etc. Apart from that, things are great!

blue hope you are keeping well? I watched so many random movies during my early mat leave (Julius caeser on movies 4men (?), some teen chick flix, and a a few classics (goodfellas, dirty dancing etc) Have never felt so lazy in all my life!! You should definitely make the most of it, post-baby is a sea of changing apparatus, clothes, cards/pressies/balloons etc etc
Bet you'll be glad of your DMs company & support though.
Hope everyone else is doing ok & bosses are being kind to you..

jaggythistle · 08/05/2012 20:43

congrats missgiraffe and Ruaridh! lovely name and sounds like all went well.

think we are having a 3 weekish growth spurt here as my wee dude is v hungry. he's feeding away just now and somehow dribbling milk everywhere. glad we have a lot of bibs... can't believe he's 3 weeks tomorrow. Shock

DS1 seems to really be taking to his wee brother. he's really sweet and rocks him in his rocking chair. he was just up talking to and holding DS2's hand while he screamed through a nappy change. :) he's quite hyper with all the visitors and presents he's got but we're trying to keep everything as normal as possible for him.

hope you're all enjoying your freedom or those last few days are flying past!

missingmymarbles · 08/05/2012 21:30

Aaww congratulations Jaggy and Missgiraffe Smile Hope they continue to thrive like little mushrooms!

Blue I finished at the weekend and I'm loving it Grin Not missing it one jot, and can't imagine that I will, (probably partly because I want to change departments on my return) Grin

My DM came down to help me gut spring clean my house and DH has also taken the week off, so I am nesting big style, getting lots of little jobs ticked off before Bonzo arrives Grin DD is loving me being off as well Smile

Enjoy your run ups, girls Smile

BlueCrane · 08/05/2012 21:58

Grin Grin huge congrats missg fab news!! Glad all's going well!

After a v sleepy morning I have just had a productive couple of hours so another item is ticked off my list and I'm off to get my hair cut and have a pedicure in the morning as a treat!!

marbles glad you're off now and enjoying the rest super nesting bonanza

Right, now to enjoy some of probably all of the large bar of galaxy caramel with DH bought for me earlier!

oltob · 17/05/2012 19:58

Congratulations missg, I'd lost the thread (literally) so searched back for an update. You beat me by a day. Our boy Toby was born 7.28pm Saturday 5th May, 8lb 4oz. After much faffing with tablets and induction from the Wednesday I was allowed home on Friday night for a decent nights sleep, back in bright & early Saturday morning for ARM, then epidural and the dreaded drip. The epidural only took on my left side but I did my relaxation and breathing for an hour after watching a DVD and coped alright with the pain. Then after an hour or so they chk'd me and fully dilated, more yoga breathing and a wee while later told to push, he was out within 20mins. It was under two hours start to finish and incredibly relaxed and chilled the whole way - with an induction!!! I couldn't believe there wasn't going to be any further intervention until the midwife announced that his head was out. So lovely.
Currently day 12, he had a 50% tongue tie which was treated yesterday, HV today said he's 7oz above birth weight so it hasn't stopped him feeding, although my left nip is a bit of a mess. Hopefully it'll get easier now. Better get back to it. Hope everyone else is doing well, blue enjoy the rest of maternity leave. I never did finish my Pacific box set...
