Glad the scans are going well :) Mine is this Saturday and we are not finding out, so the sonographer better not ruin the surprise!!

Angel Oh okay I didn't know that? Its a HTC(?) date (tag) so not sure??

I hope its the Friday before, DD was 5 days over. I just hope this one is a little late, (Not too much though!!)

hippieshake · 05/01/2012 20:24

Lovely news on the scans everyone!! Dozey I'm glad things are starting to work out for you :)

I've got the dreaded C word today (constipation). Has anyone else had this? Remedies please xx

Dozeyland · 05/01/2012 20:51

Thanks guys :)

Oh yes, Peppermint tea helps me, and drinking plenty of fluid.

alwaysanauntie · 06/01/2012 07:56

hippieshake I'm with you on that one. My current plan is branflakes for breakfast, fruit & dried apricots for snacks, lots of veggies at mealtimes & as dozey said drink plenty of liquid. Going for a reasonably long walk also helps me (a couple of miles at lunchtime to the local Tesco & back!).

angelyaz glad my name makes sense, on my side there's 8 nephews & nieces, on DH's there's 5 from his full siblings & at least 10 from the half siblings that we know of (complicated family!).

AlexTasha · 06/01/2012 10:51

hippie try eating prunes, canned or dried. I eat like 10 of them waiting outside the bathroom door as they work almost instantly for me (tmi?) haha.

So nice hearing about all the scans. I have mine on Monday, but we already know he is a boy (yay!) cos of the gender scan we did so it will be interesting to see how much he has grown and also a make sure that he is developing properly.

I posted this as a seperate thread, but do you guys to pelvic floor excersizes? It seems like some people so and some don't and birth affects everyone differently. I am going to try and learn as I don't want to be peeing myself...

Wommer · 06/01/2012 15:21

Hi Alex I do them when I remember. Have never heard anyone say not to do them so figure "why not?"

Xx

AlexTasha · 06/01/2012 15:24

wommer yeah good call, I will stop being lazy and start doing them, don't want to regret not trying later Blush hahaha

VeronicaSpeedwell · 06/01/2012 16:03

Thanks to Alex, Dozey and Rugby for suggesting solutions to my boob issues! I am going to track something down at the weekend.

And great news, Dozey, about your DP! As we're in the year of the babies now, and the days are getting longer little by little, hopefully things will feel brighter.

I had my scan yesterday, it was great Grin. It's such a relief to know our baby is on good form in there, I really feel like I can enjoy being pregnant now and start making some proper plans. Thanks to everyone who listened to my nerves about it, and good luck to all those still waiting.

I've started thinking about prams now, and so far the Mamas and Papas Sola is the top runner (with carrycot for the early months). Do you like yours Dozey? Unfortunately there's no M&P shop near us so it will be a bit of a mission to check it out.

VeronicaSpeedwell · 06/01/2012 16:04

Oh, and thanks for the pelvic floor reminder! I mean to do them, honest...

Wommer · 06/01/2012 19:55

Had a midwife app yesterday. She'd had my bloods back and pleased to say do not have HIV or syphilis! Smile unfortunately I don't have much iron either so have been told to up that in order to avoid iron tablets (which apparently will make my already dodgy digestion even worse!).

I think that could be why I've been SOooooooo totally knackered this past week. Looked in the mirror this afternoon and was literally the colour of milk!

Anyone else got this? Am normally pretty close to the border for anaemia, bur guess pregnancy has properly pushed me over the boundary.

Ah well... Fun fun fun! Grin

Xxxzzzxzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Wink

Dozeyland · 06/01/2012 20:04

Veronica I Love my sola! I've got it in Truffle, and it is really good, I loved the fact that it could go parent-facing (very rarely use the forward facing as DD & I have so much fun chatting away!) easy to put in & out of boot, nice size generally too :)

Scan is tomorrow (i'll be 20+5) Dad is coming with me, to hold onto DD :)

Is anybody else's bump rock hard? Mine was with DD at this stage too... I do feel bloated from day to day, think this is due to not being able to go to the loo as often as i need...... Blush so need to do some of the tips above also.

Everyone thinks im small, but where i'm very slim - I notice the belly more, and it just seems like its getting big quick, and so hard. baby is moving lots now which is lovely, and I got 136bpm on my doppler the other night.

I REALLY hope the sonographer doesn;t ruin the surprise....... :s
What if it is a boy and you can't help but notice a winky?!?!
The last time I just said its a surprise, so when you do the "area" can you please tell me not to look" which is fine, but what if on the full body shot or when they first start it is just there!

We obviously don't mind what we're having but we want another surprise!

BlueCrane · 06/01/2012 21:40

Evening all! So glad scan all ok veronica Grin we have gone for the M&P Zoom since it's so similar to the Sola but comes with the carrycot in the main package, and I've bought the truffle footmuff in the sale to go with it! It folded well and I also liked that it could be parent facing with the carrycot, car seat and the main seat!

dozey I think if you say to the sonographer that you want a suprise they are normally pretty good to avoid you seeing/finding out. Glad you're getting better news re. DP!

wommer if your bowels are quite congested then I guess any natural iron you can get can only be better than having to have tablets...hope it sorts soon!

This being DC1 for me I have no idea about pelvic floor exercise of what to do but feel that I should probably be doing some - can any of you advise any good info sources on this?

Enfyshedd · 07/01/2012 04:39

Re: findng out the sex, DP said that he & the ex had agreed not to find out with DC2, but that when they scanned he was lying legs open and was hanging on to "it" - not much chance to avoid it then! DSS2 is still a litte exhibitionist and will fling his clothes all over the place when being told to change into his PJs for bed.

Been a bit of a stressful week culminating in last night. I've posted before about DP's issues since he was attacked 3 years ago (is nearly the anniversary), and he had a "moment" last night for 30 mins. He'd been asked by his psychiatrist to keep a diary for the next few months to help evaluate his case but hadn't started it yet, then his appointment this week was cancelled and he hasn't been able to rebook it yet over the past few days. Along with post-Xmas stress and other things, last night after dropping off the DSSs with their mother was the time he could finally relax which seemed to tip him over. Cue 30 mins of him being ready for a fight with anyone who would have looked at him the wrong way, elbowing the bank door, bending the wire fences around the roadworks in town and raging that he could pick the fences up & throw them in the road if he wanted to, etc.

These episodes don't happen often - last one was about 5 months ago - but they're very scary to witness (more scared about him harming himself & others, but not me). When we got home and the storm had passed, I insisted on starting his diary for him as I said things like this are very important to be recorded for his records and treatment and probable compensation claim. Is so hard to watch someone you love not be himself at all and be unable to do anything about it at the time. He hates being unable to predict when these episodes will occur and he when he comes down he admits to be being scared himself because he feels totally out of control and afraid of what he might do to someone. He so wants to be better before LO is born, but I know that it's going to take a lot longer than another 4-5months for him to be totally fixed.

On the plus side, only a weeks until my 20wk scan and we get to see LO again. Halfway already - who'd have believed it?

lobba · 07/01/2012 11:21

wommer I was told I had low iron and the mw recomended eating lots of green veg (including sprouts!), red meat (well cooked of course) and someone else said lentils are high in iron. Not had any more tests since so don't know if its worked - I feel quite good in myself other than being knackered as I've just gone back to work after 2 and a half weeks off.

20wk scan on Tuesday, we're hoping to not find out the sex but I've got extra scans booked at 28 and 34 weeks so there's every chance we could find out at some point.

Not bought much yet, just a car seat that was on sale in halfords. We are hoping to get a new(er) car next month so need to sort that out and then save a bit to buy everything else although both sets of GPs have said they'll contribute something :)

Dozeyland · 07/01/2012 20:10

Lobba how come you have extra scans?

Enfy Thats terrible, My Dad was severely attacked 5years ago (Christmas night is the anniversary)... He ended up with a completely unhinged broken jaw which was wired up for 3 months, punctured lung, not to mention the mental scars.......I hope you dp finds peace soon :(

Had our scan today, DD kept pointing at the screen saying "baba", and pointing at me saying "Mama" bless her. All normal, and beautifully healthy. Got an amazing shot of the hand, but other than that the photo's weren't as good as DD's 20week scan. and what the hell are they playing at charging 10.00 for three photos, when those photos aren't guaranteed to be any good? So frustrating.

But measurements are a little bigger than DD's... eek..
Apparently though 2nd pregnancies - you show earlier (hence baby growing quicker) then it slows down, where as its the opposite with your first???

Also, as we are still having our surprise, I didn't look when he was checking the "area" but when he was just scrolling over the body, I didnt see much....... so who knows maybe another girl lol does not seeing something literally poking out mean that its a girl? I thought DD was a boy but it was the umbilical cord Blush lol

Really wished DP was there today :( but will update him when i next speak to him. he'll be so pleased.

What was everyone's weights, this little baby is 12oz.

lobba · 07/01/2012 21:56

Dozey because I'm on a steroid inhaler for my asthma - the mw seemed as mystified as I was - she said she'd never heard of it before and reckons the consultant is just being careful. On the letter I've got from the hospital it says they're to check the baby's growth - I'm going to ask the sonographer when go for my 20wk scan on Tues to see if she can give me any more info.

Na7asha · 07/01/2012 22:18

Hi all
Had our scan yesterday. Absolutely amazing, am having a boy... So excited, couldn't help but buy clothes today. DH is chuffed and is now planning all sorts of boys games, think I'm going to have my hands full! Yay :)

For those suffering with constipation I've found sprinkling a little oat bran onto muesli helps. I make sure it tastes yummy by adding sultanas and a banana. Tastes good and coupled with drinking water helps keep me regular. Working for me anyway... And I had terrible trouble before ;)

alwaysanauntie · 08/01/2012 08:33

bluecrane the best pelvic floor advice I've found is to have a go at using your muscles to stop yourself peeing (best not done when you're desperate & have a full bladder!) and then replicate this to exercise the muscles. Apparently hold for 10 seconds 3 times a day and build up to 25 seconds, but if I remember to do one set every couple of days I'm chuffed! There's a page somewhere on mn for it for more info.

enfyshedd sounds like you're coping amazingly well, well done for getting your DP to start the diary, it may even help him pick out triggers for these episodes and so help prevent them. Big hugs to you.

Will try to update list later with sex of baby & newbies if I remember to jump on laptop :)

Enfyshedd · 08/01/2012 13:47

Thanks for the support Dozeyland and alwaysanauntie. I've known DP since before his ex walked out on him and their 2 DSs (nothing to do with me! She cheated on him), and it was about 8 months after we met that he was attacked. Sometimes rib him and say he only fancies me because he got a bang on the head Grin, but at least it means that I know the reason and I can understand why it happens. The weekend's been a lot calmer since he got it out of his system (he spent half of yesterday apologising to me for having to watch him go off on one). Thankfully that should be it for a quite a few months, and hopefully by the time the next one is due to roll around, he'll be better prepared to deal with it as long as mental health unit has done its job properly.

Bit weird this morning. My burgeoning bump seems to have flattened out quite a bit overnight - maybe LO has decided to lie across my belly today? Still haven't felt a lot of movement yet (mostly feel sensations of something moving or shuffling around but no kicks or nudges), so I'm wondering if I've got an anterior placenta. Scan's due on Friday, so will have an update on progress then.

Enfyshedd · 08/01/2012 13:48

Forgot to say, still having MS this morning after flattened belly, so that's why I'm not freaking out. MS is supposed to be a sign of a healthy pregnancy, isn't it?

Cewafwb · 08/01/2012 15:04

As a fourth timer, I can say to anyone not thinking of doing their pelvic floors that you are definitely NUTS! Its not so much about how it affects when the baby comes out, but afterwards and afterwards again. I had three with no probs and did them a bit, then trained for and ran a marathon and now can still just about sneeze without crossing legs, but if I have to go, I have to go. If you can do them, and as often as you can, standing up, DO THEM! Its worth it in the long run I swear.

Also from experience, it is easy to see if you are having a boy, BUT you need to have had some experience at looking at scans, so its easier with later pregnancies! The baby has to play ball though.

All good, but have odd pain under small bump inside. Hoping its growing/stretching pains. Very oddly have small bump for number four and am still wearing normal clothes happily.

Dozeyland · 08/01/2012 20:28

What are all of your scan notes like? as in the measurements, i'm intrigued x

alwaysanauntie · 09/01/2012 06:15

Dozey I didn't get any weight measurements, but head is at 5th percentile, waist & femur around 25th percentile. So she's a little on the small side but it's my first & it may make delivery a bit easier so I don't mind! :o

Wommer · 09/01/2012 08:53

Dozey mine were a bit odd - in one direction the tummy was in the 100th centile, and in the other is was just under 50. The head was similar - about 55 in one direction and 45 in the other. Hopefully it'll all even out by birth - otherwise it's going to be a very odd shaped baby! Lol

Think it's more likely that it wasn't straight on to the "camera". On average it was probably about 55th to 60th centime all over.

Saying that, with me being 6ft and DH being 6,3 I'm not expecting it to be a littlun! Blush

Xxx

AlexTasha · 09/01/2012 13:07

Hi all, just had my scan and everything is good. He has all his fingers and toes and everything is developing normally. So relieved and happy!! I have a high anterior placenta so that's why I always feel him at the bottom of my stomach, but its all normal so I am REALLY over the moon.

dozey his estimated weight is 13ozs, he is above the 98th percentile for his belly (so a little fatty), slightly above average for his head (70th percentile)and just below average for his arms and legs (45th percentile). So he is growing nice and normally.

wommer I am 5'10 and my partner is 6'2 so maybe thats why our babies are little fatties now and then they will stretch longways! What were your femur measurements like?

Yay, so excited have good news from the scan and to see him again. They confirmed he was a boy again (cos we had a gender scan already). I can't believe that is the last scan though. I think I am going to book another private one at about 30 weeks just to see him again! :)
