Just did two pg tests and positive (although faint). Took 10 months ttc last time and as DD is almost one I've only had periods for a few months so this is a hugely pleasant surprise!

Anyone-else out there?

Lovemarmite · 09/01/2012 13:27

Hi Angel, I too have had cramps and aches but nothing more than twinges that last for a few minutes. Although TMI! I had bad constipation and I got terrible pains a while ago but since having more fibre in diet, that problem has luckily gone but I was very concerned at one point as the pain was awful and lasted for a while. I am not suggesting it's the same thing though...

would call MW to be on the safe side... hope all is okay x

mrsmamma · 09/01/2012 13:31

Hi aflycup I'm rhesus negative too n not sure what it means either something to do with us only being able to have negative blood if transfusion is required other thAn that I don't know!

This week I'm 12 weeks and still no scan date! I rang the hospital who said that have my referral letter but they have not got to it yet!! Grrrr! Thing is I need to organise work so very angry!!

Lovemarmite · 09/01/2012 14:11

Hi aflycup and mrsmamma - I looked this up the other day and the rhesus blood type can be explained on this website:
www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/complications/whatisrhesusstatus/

Hope this helps

JParkson · 09/01/2012 14:12

The rhesus negative can cause problems with LO if your dh/dp is rhesus positive, as baby tends to follow Dad, and so Mum's body can attack the LO as it doesn't 'recognise' it. see here

Do you know what blood type your partners are?

Although I personally haven't had this problem, my childminder was telling me about it as she was -ve, dh was +ve, and she had to have injections throughout her pregnancies to make sure her body didn't harm the babies. This was a few years ago, so don't know how/if it differs now.

Speak to your gp and/or mw and they'll obviously advise you further.

JParkson · 09/01/2012 14:13

lol, x-post lovemarmite :)

tashaw28 · 09/01/2012 14:20

Mrsmamma how long are you going to wait? I'm already going crazy and I'm only 8 weeks! I'm going to call hosp next week as if there's a heartbeat at end of week 9 that's a good sign!!

Angel786 · 09/01/2012 15:39

thanks poppy and glitter feeling better today was v worried this am.

lovemarmite good point - I did wonder if it could be extreme gas / constipation as I ate loadssss yesterday. Was worried as it was def not the stretching ligaments / uterus. Feeling better today so hopef if no more cramps will wait til Mon for teh scan.

Hi lynniegooner I also have a 14mo and I'm wondering how i'm going to cope. She is very fast and I am very tired.
Please pass on any tips.

I hadn't thought that our babes will be Olympic babies. I wonder if we can get any Olympic themed names in there.
Adonis, anyone?

PictureThis · 09/01/2012 17:25

Funnily enough we like the name Phoebe which is an ancient greek name. Not sure Adonis or Hercules would work though Grin.

mrsmamma · 09/01/2012 17:45

Phoebe is my girls name too have loved it for years!

Oh I'll have to find out then what dh blood type is!

The Nhs won't scan until 12 weeks so u may have to wait a few weeks but I'm 12 weeks on Friday and still not heard anything! I'm going to ring again Wednesday! They said it's slow as have people on leave over Xmas! So what????

Purplelooby · 09/01/2012 18:21

angel it does sound like wind - I have had trapped wind twice since the start and it has been agonising (I knew it was wind because I've had it before and because - TMI alert - a big fart made it go away), but it might be worth calling the MW to put your mind at rest.

aflycup my sickness has changed pretty much every day so far. Today I was feeling very sick in my car on the way to work and at about 10 am I did think I was going to vomit - ate one of my lunch butties and it went away. Previously I have found that I feel ok after eating my tea but today the soup I had seems to have made me feel worse. Sort of sitting upright and not moving much to stop it from all coming back up again :(

My bump is growing daily. I'm only 6+5 and today I noticed 2 colleagues looking at my belly with a look of 'hmmmm'. Dammit.

voscar · 09/01/2012 18:21

I'm another one who probably won't have a scan until after 12 weeks. I went to doctor at 5 weeks, got through midwives appointment for 23rd Jan, but I will be 10.5 weeks by then and I understand that they don't organise your scan until after the booking appointment here - I've certainly not heard anything about it yet. :(

It's exciting for us and we are all desperate to get our dates but ultimately the nhs is a big machine who can't really take that into account (unfortunately)

Westcountrywife · 09/01/2012 18:30

Angel, I'd agree on the wind thing. When do you get it most? and when does it get relieved. Note this down, if it's wind it'll become very obvious. I have found that a short walk after eating a large meal helps. We did this on Christmas day (me, DH & SiL), I wasn't the only person trumping away!

NathanDetroit · 09/01/2012 19:16

I'm already stressing about the Olympics! Got tickets for events 31 July/1 Aug way back when I thought this was going to take AGES. Not sure I'm going to fancy sitting in an arena at 8.5 months pregnant but I am feeling pretty determined to go. Once in a lifetime opportunity & all that. My DH likes the name Cassius so perhaps that sort of works (one of the events is boxing!)

DH remarked that he thinks I've turned a bit of a corner today and I definitely am feeling a bit better (apart from worrying I'm getting a UTI...never had one and no burning but I feel all WRONG. Well, more wrong ;)). I was talking to my friend/manager about how I'd got up in the night and eaten quite a large meal because I was so hungry and just giving in in to it all and just trying to get on with it instead of focussing on not feeling normal, this is normal for now.

Anyway, my usual verbose self! Hope you all have nice evenings, going to attempt to sort out the kitchen and cook...then eat! Wish me luck. xxx

angel hope you're ok - I had really horrible pains every night for the few couple of weeks but they've gone away. I think if there's no blood at this stage, you're doing OK. xxx

mrsmamma · 09/01/2012 19:20

Voscar I didn't see my mw until 10 weeks and it was between Xmas n new yeAr hence the delay!! So frustrating Sad

TMI but I have also been experiencing pains usually in the afternoons some times quite uncomfortable but it hAs been wind!!

Anyone recommend any good pregnancy books I'm reading what to expect when expecting but it's full of irrelevant American stuff x

NathanDetroit · 09/01/2012 20:05

mrsmamma I have "Expecting" by Anna McGrail and Daphne Metland which I think is bloody great. It's aimed at the pregnant women but covers everything and my DH reads it too. That reminds me to catch up on week 9 - can't believe I made it this far. Phew!

xx

Gnomi · 09/01/2012 20:27

NathanDetroit I'm glad to see you're feeling better. I'm feeling much better today - much more energy, despite being back and having taught all day, including an intensive revision class. The stretching cramps have stopped too. I'm hoping this is a sign of things to come rather than a sign of anything bad.

Angel Sounds like wind to me! When is your scan? Have you had it yet? (Sorry, can't remember).

Hmmm, I quiet fancy a pregnancy book. Has anyone got 'What to expect when you're expecting?'

eightieshopaholic · 09/01/2012 20:32

Hi all, having major chocolate cravings didn't really eat before been on diet for last 12 months now its all I want to eat!!! trying not to eat it so far wispa special k mint choc bar and two rose's chocs.......

ballinderrymum · 09/01/2012 20:39

hi i'm still here! i've had a bit of bleeding and phoned the out of hours doc on saturday only for him to counsel me - he didn't fill me with confidence. went to GP today and they did another pregnancy test (it was positive) and said they won't send me to the Early Pregnancy Clinic as my scan date is next week and sometimes sending you to the EPC can cause more stress Hmm i can't wait for next week now, even though i was excited before i just really want to see my wee bean just to make sure.

on a different topic i read mel gedroich (i think that is her name from mel and sue) when i was pregnant with DD and it was so funny, it was a nice short read.

ballinderrymum · 09/01/2012 20:40

meant to say that the bleeding has stopped and was only here for 2 days and i wasn't that much and there were no pains :)

NathanDetroit · 09/01/2012 20:42

hi Gnomi thanks, trying not to be too moany but it's hard! I was thinking of all of you teaching and on your feet in other jobs today, I really admire you. I was on my own in the office this afternoon so was able to turn down the lights and munch away as required. I can't imagine having to deal with a classroom full of rowdy, smelly kids or dealing with customers. Counting my blessings.

My manager suggested I tell HR today as I've been so up and down but I really don't want to as confidentiality is shockingly bad and a couple of relatives work in the same org. Woudl anyone know if there's a recourse if confidentiality is broken? I should know this, as a union rep, but I'm stumped. Have your organisations managed to keep it quiet if required? xx

Westcountrywife · 09/01/2012 21:23

Nathandetroit, I work in HR and it would be very unprofessional of them to break confidentiality. Your recourse would be to submit a grievance and/or report them to the professional body (CIPD) if they are members as to break confidentiality would be to go against the professional code of conduct.

Why would you need to tell them anyway? If your manager knows then that should be enough for you to get appropriate support and time off for antenatal appointments. Your manager would also be responsible for health and safety risk assessment. Do you work in a risky environment? You need to 'officially' tell your employer by at least 15 weeks before the birth, but that is a long way off.... and it'd be obvious by then.

Get a copy of your works maternity policy and see what that says. I plan on 'officially' telling my employer when I get the matb1 form, but I'll tell the office once I've had a scan and passed the 13 week mark...

mrsmamma · 09/01/2012 21:24

Gnomi I have what to expect but I'm finding it full of American stuff and not too interesting!

Nathan Detroit I haven't told work as not been there long but wud if I cud for time off for scan etc plus I get very tired and keep yawning heavily in meetings

TheRealMrsSmith · 09/01/2012 21:45

Hi all
I finally went to see the GP for a referral to midwives and was surprised by the thorough check up she gave me. With my other DC it was a case of filling in a short form and working out my due date. This time I was weighed and my height and blood pressure checked. She listened to my chest and said she heard a mild heart murmur, although she did say not to worry as apparently it's common in pregnancy. It was still a surprise as i've never had that before with any of the other DC.

I am finding that this time i'm feeling far sicker than I ever have before. Everything that seems to help the nausea, never works for long enough!

Nathan you may well find that you do feel up to going to the Olympics that late on. I had similar with DS1, i had front row seats for the Rocky Horror at 39 weeks. I wasnt sure but went anyway. I had a great time and it took my mind of urging DS to 'hurry up and come out' Smile.

On the subject of books, I really liked the The Pregnancy Bible for factual information, but enjoyed reading Best Friends Guide which was informative but a bit more like having a chat with friends.

MrsLister · 09/01/2012 22:03

NathanDetroit I also love the name Cassius! Not sure if DH would though (he refuses to even start talking about names etc until we're past the 12 week mark which is fair enough).

I haven't got tix for Olympics - although they will be on my doorstep - but I HAVE got tickets for the first Stone Roses reunion gig up in Manchester at the end of July! And I am bloody determined to go! Hahahah
