I'm just home from seeing the counsellor with mixed feelings. I was wobbly going in as the appointment was on the birthing unit, which involves a walk past epu and the ward I had my mc on. Then I realised that she was seeing me in the room where I laboured last time and it all went wrong. She sensed my discomfort though and we moved rooms. It did make it hit home though how much my last birth affected me. She was apologetic about my last experience (ventouse against my wishes) and has said that I should get my section, but obviously it's not up to her! My old notes have gone missing Hmm so she couldn't review them which was annoying but I'm seeing her again the next time I see the consultant.

The baby's already head down Shock which I wasn't expecting!

LimeFlower · 22/05/2012 17:39

congrats Knitter !!! :o what a whopper of a baby!lovely names, very feminine and will wear well regardless to age had them on the list but DH said no to both, grrrr

Jealous of your speedy delivery, wishing for mine to be so fast-goodness knows what it's going to look like as the last time baby was back to back.

Cant't remember whether I was going to race to labour with you or Twittwoo, won't be surprised to lost as the little one seems to be very comfy inside Hmm

LimeFlower · 22/05/2012 17:39

Oh,dear,is it me at the top of the list?

Daisybell1 · 24/05/2012 21:43
PieMistress · 24/05/2012 22:33

knitter Congratulations on the safe arrival of your daughter Caroline! What an amazing birth story, she must have wanted to get out into the world and not miss a minute x

Had my consultant appt this week to discuss delivery. They were happy to offer a section after DS's traumatic arrival (failed forceps as he was stuck and they couldn't get him out my pelvis or something so had emergency CS). They scanned me first and said this baby is also measuring bigger than DS so probably the wisest decision! That means only 4 weeks to go EEEEK!!

Am still constantly fretting though that something will be wrong, is anybody else like this?

Congrats on BFF daisy !!

Happy due date lime !!

amandine when is your consultant appt? I think it would be difficult for them to refuse you a section?

mouse are you on mat leave now? Happy cooking, you will have to give me some ideas, I can't think past spag Bol and lentil curries at the mo!

Hope everybody is well, off for another sleepless night!! Can't wait to not have to sleep on my side !!

X

mousebacon · 25/05/2012 14:17

Yes! Week one of mat leave (twas me that ordered the sunshine, honest!)

So far I have cooked a meat lasagne, a vegi lasagne, a fish pie and next on my list is chicken casserole.

I'm also going to stock the freezer with mince and chicken so DH can make a quick bolgnese or curry - with sauce from jars!

Just having a nice lie down before the school run - my ankles and calves are v v swollen and v v sore. Think a bowl of cool water will be nice when I get back. DS is obsessed with walking/scooting to school at the mo and although Im struggling I want to persevere as long as poss.

I'm loving the fact the house is clean and tidy, I can get washing on the line and I can just decide what's for tea through the day then sort it out at my leisure! Can't wait for baby to be here now!

to all Grin

LimeFlower · 26/05/2012 08:03

Daisy,you'll be fine...
PieMistress thank you very much, unfortunately nothing happened, just vented out on the other thread for heavily preggos as I'm overdue now. You're not far away yourself.
mouse congrats on your mat leave, put your feet up and enjoy the weather, not long to go now...

Seriously don't know what to do with myself,so bloody uncomfy.Repeting myself to shut up and be grateful for carrying to full term but I'm so huge and clumsy that i reallllly want this baby out very soon :(

AmandinePoulain · 26/05/2012 08:33

God I feel so attractive right now...what with my cankles, fat feet with all the skin peeling off (the rash has gone now so at least they're not itchy and my hairy stomach. Isn't pregnancy lovely?! Grin

Pie I'm meant to be seeing a consultant in 2 weeks, unless I get put on the registrar's list again. We're meant to be going through my old notes but as they appear to be lost that seems unlikely Angry. I may never get the answers I want! Sounds like you had a hard time too, I'm glad you got your section Smile.

mouse you're still walking to school Shock? I stopped last week, it's a hilly mile there and hilly mile back and it was getting to be too much. I do feel guilty about it though now that I don't have the rain excuse! It does give me an extra 15 minutes in bed too Wink

Daisy, it'll be fine! It's much easier second time round despite the fact that this time I seem to have an appointment at least once a week with various drs/mws

AmandinePoulain · 26/05/2012 08:36

Anyone who is suffering from heartburn - I can highly recommend omeprazole - I can actually sleep now and eat normal food rather than the blandest things I can find, and I haven't need to swig take any gaviscon for days Grin

confu3ed · 27/05/2012 08:30

Long time no post and wow congratulations Lady, and Knitter - what a great labour I so hope mine is that fast!

Yay Mouse, maternity leave sounds great...thinking of taking mine early as working till 3 days before DD was probably a stupid idea.....especially in this heat!

Pie great news on the C section as your experience sounds pretty scary but less than 4 weeks and you will have your baby!! How exciting :)

My baby is transverse at the moment, will be having another scan on Thursday then I think weekly to see if he moves and if not a section, as I really do not like the idea of manual turning as apparently it rarely works, hurts like hell and I would imagine is not much fun for the baby. Has anyone had any experience of this?

With you on the cankles and swollen feet Amandine. COld water helps, I have an above ground pool in my garden and it really is my sanctuary at the moment!

I still cannot quite get my head around the fact that there will be a baby very soon, it just seems so unreal. Is this normal?!!

PieMistress · 27/05/2012 08:35

confu3ed I've read that acupuncture can help turn a baby? Not sure how mind you!

Thanks for the tip Pie will look into that as sounds alot better than a muscle relaxant and man handling!

Moominsummermadness · 28/05/2012 18:52

Hello ladies,

Had an antenatal appointment today, was glad to be seeing the midwife, as SPD has kicked in, some days are really bad. She's referring me to physio- apparently they do a group physio session, so not really sure what that will entail! She asked me again whether I'm sure I don't want a homebirth. I had one with DC3, and all was fine, there was one scary moment when they broke my waters and there was stale meconium present, so an ambulance was called for a transfer, but I got the urge to push and just after the ambulance turned up, DD was born with an apgar of 10. The only other downsides were visitors turning up almost immediately after the birth (PILS arrived before the placenta was delivered!), so I didn't get any rest at all, and the fact that the gas and air ran out. This time, I had originally said that I didn't want a homebirth, mainly due to my anxiety about the pregnancy. However, I have started considering it-my only niggles are about the state of my house! It's not a pig-sty, but there are things that need doing (my bathroom is really shabby, for example, and we're planning on gutting it and starting again soon), and having 3dcs with a full-time job means that I'm constantly having to clean to stay on top of the housework. I'm worrying that when I go into labour, it won't be nice and tidy, and I'll feel embarrassed! I probably sound really silly, tbh, I know that housework, or lack of it shouldn't prevent me having a HB. Midwife is by no means putting any pressure on, but I need to preferably make my mind up in the next 5 weeks before my 28 week appointment.

Hope you are all well, and that Limeflower won't be waiting too much longer!

xx

Twittwooo · 30/05/2012 14:39

Hi everyone,

Well, today is my due date but there are absolutely no signs of baby making an appearance so I think I'm in for a bit of a wait!

Any news from Limeflower?

I hope everyone is doing well.

PieMistress · 30/05/2012 15:21

Oooo happy due date twittwoo :) :) I can remember trying everything with DS to get him out on/before his due date but NOTHING worked and he turned up 5 days 'late' on Christmas Day!

Have just been reading about the doctor's strike which is on the same date as my C-Section, oh great!

LimeFlower · 30/05/2012 15:30

Happy due date Twit.No news here, little bugger refuses to come out.Mw appointment with a sweep tomorrow at 41 weeks.Think I'm heading for June, hope your little one will be less stubborn than mine Hmm

oooh,Pie hope you won't be affected and disappointed!

Moomin I'm the same freak about the house ,no DC's but messy bugger of DH-he's lovely in any other way but leaves a trail of dirty dishes, empty sweet wraps and pile of laundry on the floor.MIL is supposed to come to us to help with the baby once it's born so I asked her already to catch up with her son's housekeeping training :o

AmandinePoulain · 30/05/2012 16:58

From what I've read Pie maternity services will run as normal. That said, I'm very glad that I faced the wrath of the anaesthetics secretary and changed the review appointment that I had on that day because I'm working that night now Grin.

Come on baby Twitt and baby Lime! Smile

Twittwooo · 30/05/2012 17:12

Good luck for tomorrow Lime, hope the sweep encourages the little one to come out!
I hope you won't be affected Pie, I wasn't aware of the strike but if Amandine is right and maternity services are running as usual that's good.
