It will happen for us this time.

Thanks for all the advice and positivity ladies, it's really helpful. I guess I just don't want to be responsible for leading my family to financial ruin!

As it happens, once I've taken into account what I woulndnt be paying in tax, NI, pension, student loans and childcare we'd only be about £150 a month down which I might even be able to cover by changing my mortgage.

It seems like a massive decision when I've oy ever worked FT but I just keep thinking this will be my last child and my last time to go part time and, as we've all said, you can never get this time back. If Gove has his way I'll be working until I'm 70 so what's a bit of PT now eh?

Sorry about your loss lady I hope you and your DH are ok x

knitter that's a good sized baby! Hope you're keeping well Smile

LimeFlower · 08/03/2012 09:00

Knitter thanks for putting me on the list

confu3ed I wrote a long reply on Monday only to be kicked out of MN to tell me to log in again.Obviously lost my post, grrrr Angry how was the yoga?
And yes,it will be very busy and eventful year in a good way, seeing as the last 2 years were absolute sh*t

Lady my deepest sympathy :(

LAF I can't believe you're nearly fully ripe-remembering FO thread when you were about halfway and me thinking "will I ever get there myself".Now somebody dancing in my belly waking me up still seems to be unreal.
Love the haddock but prefer eating it over being slapped (needs a must sometimes Wink )

I've got a dilemma-I had my antenatal class yesterday which turns out covers all the talking,but...if i want to find out about breathing technics and so on then I should attend another classes which are in completely different place and time. Now wondering whether to book the place or not?If it's worth it I'll go even if it means that I'll be running like a headless chicken from one town to another. What do you reckon?

KnitterNotTwitter · 08/03/2012 16:54

LAF - DS was a great big porkpie of a baby - 10lb 6oz. He was born thrrough the traditional exit - 7hrs labour! My bump only measured 2cm bigger during the pregnancy though - I feel a lot bigger this time. Lots of streatching pains again today - had to lie on the floor at work today! Obviously it's all just attention seeking behaviour :)

Lime For me the best breathing tip was 'lips theory'. It's in Ina May Gaskins Guide to Childbirth which is a fantastic book. Basically lips theory says that if you can keep your mouth-lips loose you'll keep your fanjo-lips loose! And the best way to keep your mouth-lips loose is to do a horse-like prrr noise when breathing out. For me this was the ONLY thing I remembered to do during labour. I would start going prrrr as each contraction came on and count the number of prrrs. Early contractions were 11 prrr's and towards the end it was 13... I put down the fact that I had a 7hr labour for a 10lb 6oz baby to this technique!! Does that help?!?

Biscuitsandtea · 09/03/2012 03:30

Hi ladies,

I'm afraid I sort of fell off your thread a few months ago Blush but I thought I'd nip in just to let you know that I have jumped a few places in the stats list. Ethan Thomas was born last night (Thursday) weighing in at 8lb 4oz. Waters broke at 6pm, closely followed by contractions starting. Got to the hospital at about half 7 and out he popped at just after 10.

I know I've been absent from the thread but I would still like to thank those of you that remember me for all the support, especially in those early days and in the Freak Out Room.

Hope you're all well and good luck to those at the top of the list Smile xx

snap knitter you beat me to it! :-)

KnitterNotTwitter · 09/03/2012 12:16

:-)

funchum8am · 09/03/2012 19:33

Hi ladies, I can see that I'm on the stats list under "we share the pain and mourn the loss" under my old name of water plate - back now and 12+1 with a new MN name. Overjoyed to have made it this far, scan is next Weds, and delighted to see you all having your lovely babies. My EDD is 21st September so while I won't check in here too often as I'll just bore you new mums with second trimester stuff that I can spout on the September due dates thread, I just wanted to check in and say hi with my good news. Congrats to all the new mums and good luck to all of those awaiting the happy day!

CollieandPup · 10/03/2012 22:47

Just having a rare lurk. Congratulations biscuit and stitch so pleased for you.

LILI I'm thrilled to read your doing so well. Yay for maternity leave. Not long now, I'll be lurking for news!

mouse I think 4 days is perfect. Was my
Plan originality but now actually thinking 3. Only thing id say is make sure you're not made to balance 5 days worth of work into 4.
How is work btw?

shellshock7 · 11/03/2012 07:36

Just a quick check in.....

Congrats biscuits Smile

Had another failed sweep on Friday and was gutted as said baby had moved to only 1/5 engaged and was back to back, felt like going all the way to induction was inevitable Sad But then went to hospital for monitoring yesterday and all is fab with baby, est weight 9.5lb, he was 4/5 engaged and sweep, although wasn't successful, did result in a bit of blood loss....so woke up this morning and have lost plug and having heavy period pains so fingers crossed things are on there way Smile Will update.

LAF77 · 11/03/2012 09:00

How exciting shell looking forward to hearing the news!

KnitterNotTwitter · 12/03/2012 16:29

funchum lovely news - will keep fingers crossed for super-scans and a lovely pregnancy... Looking forward to having you over here properly! Do you want to be taken off the 'thinking of' section now?

shell sounds VERY encouraging.... birth announcement soon methinks :-)

I think bean has started getting hiccups which is funny - couldn't work out what it was with DS but am older/wiser now!

Had a VERY productive weekend with DS while DH was away. Got the crib assembled and started to pack hospital bag... i'm 30 weeks tomorrow so this is all very early but I looked in the diary and realised that the next opportunity to do all this stuff I'd be to ginormous to do it all - so went for it! This Bean has been very resistant to jinxing so far... long may it continue.

Ooooh and my other news is..... iron tablets. .... I'd been really gasping for air and needing windows opened all the time. Someone mentioned on another thread that they were the same and while I was busy commiserating some much more sensible persons posted saying that we were probably both anaemic.... Penny dropped.... Pregnancy Compatible Iron Tablets bought.... feel SO much better.

Moominsummermadness · 12/03/2012 17:10

Just popping in to say congratulations to biscuits, it's lovely seeing you ladies who were so kind to me last time I was in the freak-out room having your babies. I had a good 12 week scan today, so hope to join you in here in a few weeks!

KnitterNotTwitter · 12/03/2012 17:13

oooh - and Congratulations to you too Moomin.... more super news :)

funchum8am · 12/03/2012 21:08

KnitternotTwitter you could add me to the stats list and take me off the losses list I suppose! EDD 21st Sept - same month as moomin who I think I recognise from the September due dates thread!

I remember hoping so much to be one of the ladies who came back on a thread like this to say all was well and while I'm only 12+4 this is a LOT further than I have got in the past! Scan is Weds so fingers crossed!

KnitterNotTwitter · 12/03/2012 22:57

funchum would you mind if I waited until after your scan.... I would hate to edit the list and somehow jinx things....

shellshock7 · 13/03/2012 09:27

Hi moomin and funchum good to see you here Smile

Well still no baby Sad sweep attempt no 4 yesterday still failed, but I am 1cm dilated now, had heavy period pains since 6am Sunday so sleep is evading me and just in pain/discomfort all the time which is fun! Grin Induction booked for Sunday if all else fails...will update if any progress, fingers crossed!

Moominsummermadness · 13/03/2012 13:28

Thanks knitter and shell! Shell,I got all excited then seeing you were the last person to post, sorry to hear still no baby! Really hope it happens very, very soon! Good luck!

LimeFlower · 13/03/2012 16:15

Congrats Biscuits,you got there :)

Knitter.thanks for the info re breathing, decided to skip the other classes as I have enough of running around already.

Moomin looking forward to seeing you here:)

30 weeks on Thursday so will race with Knitter and Twit :o

LAF77 · 15/03/2012 11:22

Thinking of you shell hope baby is going to make his arrival soon!

AmandinePoulain · 15/03/2012 16:33

Hello

I think I'm ready to come in if you'll have me! Just seen the mw and the baby's got a lovely strong hb of 150 Smile, at 6pm we've got a private gender scan to find out the flavour (I'm leaning towards girl based on the scientific ring test and HR theory WinkGrin). I'm 16+3 today.

AmandinePoulain · 15/03/2012 18:30

We're having a little girl Smile

funchum8am · 15/03/2012 18:51

Scan successfully completed - all measuring right for dates and heartbeat was clear so we are safe to go on the stats list...fingers crossed for safety all round.
