Hi there

I know I haven't been around for ages and I'm really sorry. But I'm now on Maternity leave so have got the spare time! Smile

Just wanted to say congratlations to everyone who have had their babies in the time I've been away. I'm so happy for you all!

How's everyone else doing? laff How are you getting on? It won't be long for us now Smile.

I'm classed as term today - yay! And off to see the midwife later to see what position the baby is in. Last time he/she was head down, floating above the pelvis and looking up at the sky.

Just wanted to ask any of those that are close to their due dates - have you been getting any period pain and sharp pains low in your pelvis? I've started getting these pains and I'm hoping it's a sign things might be getting moving? Also, my boobies have been leaking a little (again a possible sign?)

I was induced with DD and from what I remember I didn't get any pains like this. In fact I didn't get any signs with DD!

Lili xx

stitchinline · 29/02/2012 09:41

Off to hospital now for my induction and bricking it Grin hopefully will post happy news in a couple of days

LAF77 · 29/02/2012 12:47

Thinking of you stitch hope that all goes well for you.

Lili good to hear from you. I start maternity leave on Monday. I don't really have the symptoms that you describe, but baby's head has felt lower in my pelvis this week as there is a lot more pressure there. I've also been exhausted and sleeping a lot more, but still 3 weeks to go!

shellshock7 · 29/02/2012 15:05

kmitter that sounds amazing, I,m a bit in awe of it!

laf that is great news, hope everything goes smoothly from now on Smile

Hi lili I get lots of strange pains now, as well as the Brixton hicks, it's very frustrating as I think it must mean things are moving on, then all goes quiet again grrr! Just eating lots of pineapple, spicy food and bouncing on the ball to try and do my bit for all the help it's prob not doing!

Wow stitch best of luck and look forward to hearing your news soon Smile

Im getting tired now and everything hurts, just ready for him to join us, lying awake at night with the BH thinking abt how it's all gonna go and how awesome he is gonna be, I'm so excited/nervous abt birth and how life is gonna change, I can't believe we have got here and are abt to be parents! I thought it was all kicking off Monday night, the BH were really strong and painful thru my back too....but only lasted abt an hour, got all excited for nothing!!

LILI80 · 29/02/2012 20:53

Just wanted to say good luck to stitch Smile

shell I've been bouncing alot on my ball too. Apparently the midwife said it can help get the baby into position! Need to try the pineapple and spicy food. My midwife did tell me to eat a bowl of pineapple as it keeps you (ahem) regular which is good because constipation can prevent the baby from moving down into the pelvis? I think anything is worth a try.

LAF I'm exhausted too! Also got the same feeling of the baby being really low down....

and when I went to see my midwife today she told me the baby's head is engaged! which I was all excited about until I read on the internet that the end can be engaged for some time before labour! Damn it!

I'm 37 weeks today but the baby is apparently measuring at 38+ which I was told was fine and wasn't a cause for concern.

My midwife did ask me if I'd got my hospital bag packed as she said hopefully I won't be waiting as long with this one as I was with DD.

I really hope it's soon as I don't know if it's a boy or a girl and now I'm dying to find out Smile

LAF77 · 01/03/2012 14:03

Hope stitch is doing well and has her baby.

shell you could be in early latent labour. We have been so programmed to believe that labour comes on so fast and it is a mad dash to the hospital, but I think that doesn't happen in many cases.

If it makes you feel any better lili our baby has measurements consistent with 41W+, so I think that your baby will be OK. I've been sitting on a ball instead of a chair for the last 2 weeks and walked 2 miles today. I'm hoping that baby will turn up earlier than 40 weeks, but DH doesn't want him to come any sooner as he is too busy at work.

As another week has passed, I'm updating the list! I can't believe that I have made it to term. I never thought it was possible!

Off to kip as the walk wore me out.

So frustrated and not even due till tomorrow....Braxton hicks strong all day keeping me thinking it's abt to kick off, then nothing happens! Gonna be so fed up if this carries on for another two weeks Shock

Hope everyone is well.....and we get news from stitch Smile

stitchinline · 04/03/2012 11:47

Well I have my baby! Alice was born Friday 2 March 2012 weighing 7lb 10oz. Am so delighted with my precious bundle. Grin ended with forceps due to baby in distress so very sore but we both made it so cannot ask for more.

Twittwooo · 04/03/2012 12:17

Hi everyone, I've had a really busy time over the last couple of weeks so haven't been on here much. Just trying to catch up!

Congratulations to Stitch! Alice is a beautiful name.

Can I ask those who are using birthing balls where you got them? I've seen a few cheap gym balls but I know it's advisable to get an anti-pop one.

I hope everyone's doing well, I can't believe how quickly the time is passing now!

shellshock7 · 04/03/2012 13:49

Congrats stitch so pleased for you Smile

twittwooo my ball was from Argos, about £7 I think

AmandinePoulain · 04/03/2012 13:50

Congratulations to stitch Grin

twitt I won a birthing ball on eBay last night for £1.04! As the NCT one was the cheapest I could find (£15ish) I got a bargain! I just need to research potential exercises now, I want it to exercise on and sit on when I'm bigger rather than for labour which I'm hoping to avoid Wink Grin!) I have read that it's worth looking into normal exercise ones in Argos though as they are cheaper.

MilkywaysandBump · 04/03/2012 17:19

Hello all! Just popping in to see how you're all doing! Congratulations purple and stitch! I'm just looking at the list and my son is the lightest baby on there! Thankfully he is putting on weight nicely - he's very long so that makes up for it!

LAF - I can't believe you're nearly there! Just over 2 weeks to go! It's amazing how quickly time passes - I am so very happy for you!

mousebacon · 04/03/2012 19:54

Congratulations stitch Grin That's brilliant news and I love the name Alice.

Not much to report here, all growing well bump-wise and am 99% certain I'm going to drop down to 4 days a week after mat leave - any reassuring words along the lines of 'no, you're not mad, you'll never regret it etc etc' would be much appreciated.

Big hugs, waves and chocolate cake to all Smile

LILI80 · 04/03/2012 21:59

Congratulations stitch Smile

Blackkat · 05/03/2012 04:50

stitch congratulations on the birth of Alice Grin. Hope you have some arnicare cream for your sore parts and lavender oil for the bath, forceps are nasty, I sympathise! Hope you are enjoying new born snuggles!

amandine and all you other ball bouncers, for "optimal foetal position" sit up straight on the ball, legs at right angles from the knees, legs shoulder width apart and rock forwards and back, also make figure of eight circles with hips! Good luck

mouse four days sound exactly right to me! X

Life on t'other side is hard work, sleep while you can ladies, but worth all the pain and the long journey. Will continue to lurk for news.

LadyMaybe · 05/03/2012 10:16

Hey! Congrats stitch how lovely! We have Alice on our list of names if it's a girl.

We've had a bit of a rough time, v sadly losing a beloved grandmother of my DH suddenly. Funeral is on Wednesday.

And (far TMI warning) today a big gloop of mucous dropped out of me, which has completely freaked me out because I haven't had anything like it apart from when I lost my mucous plug with DS. But I don't think it's anything like that, haven't felt cramping or anything.

Hope all are well x

Moominsummermadness · 05/03/2012 13:21

Hello,

Just poking my head in on the way back from the Freak Out Room to say congratulations to Stitch.

(Waves to everyone else)

Smile
LimeFlower · 05/03/2012 15:39

Hello everybody:)

Found some time today so decided to catch up a bit-never joined this thread properly and still feeling a bit "shy"-couldn't convince myself that this pregnancy is going to be fine.And...it is so far(touch the wood)-waddled into 3rd trimester.
Bump is definitely where it should be,baby wriggly sometimes(especially when I lay down and try to fall asleep),got my 1st painful kick last week.

Will be 29 weeks on Thursday, starting antenatal classes on Wednesday, hope I'll make some new friends over there.

Loads of things happening in life just now-getting ready to get hitched in 3 weeks time Shock ,organizing stuff,FT work and everlasting problems with STBDH work.I have 3 more weeks until my ML,with some holidays thrown in between and before my ML which I start officially when I'm 38 weeks.

Glad to see you all here, congratulations to everybody who had their babies,to those still waiting-all the best.

LAF hope you kept some haddock :o

confu3ed · 05/03/2012 19:56

Yay Stitch, big congratulations to you x

Wow, Lime you must be really busy I am struggling with just working full time. But great that you are getting married a baby and a wedding in one year, this truly will be an amazing year for you :)

Starting pregnancy yoga tomorrow, has anyone tried it? They say it helps in labour so figured that has to be worth a go and will hopefully meet some new people. I am hoping it will give me some energy too and teach me to stay calm.

Waves to everyone else :)

LadyMaybe · 06/03/2012 00:11

Mouse I dropped to 4 days a week when I went back after DS - did three days in the office, 2 shorter, 1 longer (when DH did DS's pick up from childminder) and worked one long day from home, which meant I could work the time that would have been spent commuting. It worked well. I also had built into my flexible arrangement about 2 1/2 hours of 'flexitime' which was basically me checking emails once I'd got home, so I could deal with any emergencies that cropped up when I was out of the office, but it was understood that my 1 day off, was completely off. My out-of-office would be on and it just made it easier for other people to know that if they needed help on a Wednesday (as it was), they needed to find someone else.

I loved having the Wednesday off as my 'DS-day', it broke up the week, meant I felt DS was never with someone else for more than 2 days in a row, meant that I could get things started at work at the beginning of the week and then leave it, coming back later on to check on progress or trouble-shoot. It worked really well. The only down-side was that in my NCT group, most women went back on flexible arrangements but we all seemed to have different days off...so coordinating meetups became more tricky. But we just morphed into doing large groups as girls nights out without the babies, and daytimes were easier with just one or two other families to try to coordinate.

KnitterNotTwitter · 06/03/2012 17:19

stitch congratulations on the birth of Alice - so happy for you.

All going well here. Had a midwifes appointment last week - our 28 week appointment. We're measuring 33 over the bump so the midwife is putting money on her being an 11lb-er!! Everything else going fine.

lime welcome over here... I think you'll be just behind me in the stats... and speaking of stats I'll have a go at an update. I'm going to be radical and take off all the arrivals that have had their 1st birthday... hope that is ok:

Blimey I've missed about a gazillion babies!! Congrats to you all!

And helloooo to everyone else

shellshock7 · 06/03/2012 19:00

Hey mouse am going back 3 days a week for part of the year and 4 days for our busy period so I don't think you are mad!

Sorry for your bereavement lady how are you feeling now after losing the mucus, have you spoken with your midwife?

Hi *lime' wow busy times! Good luck with everything Smile

knitter I was measuring 4cm ahead at each appt until 38 weeks when i dropped to 34 (?) and am now measuring 37, midwife not concerned....so I wouldn't assume a big baby yet....tho I'm not expecting a small one now just cos my growth has slowed either....just have to wait and see I guess!

Can't believe I've hit the top of the list....midwife tried for a sweep yesterday but couldn't reach so no joy....don't think baby is going to appear any time soon, was really fed up yesterday but feel ok today. Booked in again for sweep Fri and Mon then get booked in for induction....hoping we don't get that far tho it kinda seems inevitable to me now?

Right off for a spicy chilli followed by a whole pineapple Grin

LAF77 · 07/03/2012 13:25

We seem to be more active here lately which is great news! We will keep a place warm for you over here amandine until you are ready.

Thanks for your well wishes milky It is surreal even though I have all of the baby kit out all around the house!

Massive congratulations to stitch on Alice's arrival. Hope that you are doing well after the delivery.

shell you have my sympathies at the top of the list. I suppose you don't have to accept the induction, but you may decide that you are fed up. It does seem like much more of a waiting game when you are on maternity leave without the distraction of work. However, I'm pleased not to have to be dealing with work now as I finished on Friday. I was so worried about baby coming early, but now I'm at term, I wonder if he will be late! One of the girls from my NCT group that had a shared due date with me gave birth a week ago with the birth that I would want, fast labour, water birth in MWLU. I am jealous, which isn't becoming. I have no BH contractions at all!

Thanks for updating the list knitter I had a MW check-up today, and my bump measured 43cm!!!! His real term date is 26th March, they moved me forward 5 days at the 12 week scan. He is 37+2 by actual dates and 38 weeks by scan dates, so I don't expect to have a small baby. What happened at the birth of your DS? Did you have a VB?

Lady sorry to hear about your loss. Is DH's gran in the UK or NZ?

Was your DS early or on time? I know that each baby is different, so your experience might be different this time.

lili how are you doing? Do you still have pains? Did you get it checked out? I did manage to squeeze a bit out from my breast, just to see if there was anything going on, but I'm not leaking!

twitwoo I bought my ball from Ebay for about £10. I have been using it as a chair for the last 3 weeks.

mouse i plan to go back part time after 6 months and I've said be full time after 9 months. Ideally, I don't want to go back full time, but I don't really have a job that could easily be part time. However, only time will tell what will happen next.

Lime it is good to see you here. The haddock is still waiting in the corner to be wielded :-) However, it seems that it isn't as nerve wracking in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters as the early days. I do have wibbles, wondering if, yes, there really will be a live baby at the end of this, but with the shapes that baby is pulling in my tummy right now, he is telling me not to be so foolish and weak!

Hope you enjoyed your pg yoga con3ued

LILI80 · 07/03/2012 19:11

mouse I went back to work 4 days a week after I had DD. Yes it's hard to begin with because as a mother you'll always question whether you're doing the right thing by your child but it's been brilliant for my DD. She loves nursery and she's such a sociable, happy child. I've also been lucky in having my parents and my DH be able to look after her also so she's experienced a wealth of different people. It's amazing what my DD has learnt by going to nursery - she's actually been teaching me spanish!! Don't worry you'll be doing the right thing for you and your family Smile

Laff I'm good thanks. Met husband for lunch today which was really nice. We wanted to get one last lunch date in before the baby arrives and things get a little chaotic. I had some more period pains on Monday but they wore off and now I feel like I'm never going to go into labour! Baby seems ok and is moving about so I think everything is ok. I was induced with DD and think it's going to go that way this time. I'm keeping myself busy though. My DD always keeps me on my toes and I've got more dates planned with friends etc so I'm just going to enjoy this time. How are you getting on?
