Hi all, you may remember me, I have been awol a long time. DS got poorly and was admitted with bronchiolitis. it was a blessing in disguise really as at 11weeks old it was discovered that he has a hole in his heart. anyhoo, GOSH Drs are amazing and it should close on its own. someone please pm the fb page link and il go back and have a catch up on this thread :)

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 28/01/2012 16:53

Have had a scan through, huge congrats to hairy milkyways, greatt o see lady and LAF doing so well also, so many memories from the RMC thread, it's so fab to see us all doing so well.

Also fab to see things going so well for dachs

Big waves to everyone else too :)

DS is 4 months now, very vocal, very hungry and very good with his hands now too. Grabbing everything he can, think there are a couple of pics on my MN profile but not recent.

Hope everyone is well, be great to keep up with this thread now, although that list is pretty short, the FO room needs to send some over here Grin

KnitterNotTwitter · 29/01/2012 20:54

coconuts lovely to hear from you although the hole in the heart thing must have been scarey

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 30/01/2012 13:33

yeah it was a bit but we didnt find out until he was 11 weels sio i just thought well hes had it for 11 weeks and we didnt notice anything so nothing really changed as such.

was more worried about the bronchiolitis as it stopped him feeding completetly and his sats were like 86

MilkywaysAndBump · 30/01/2012 13:48

Congratulations hairy!

Thanks coconuts, I agree it is brilliant how many of us from the RMC thread are doing well! Hope your DS is doing better now.

DS and me are fine. He has a slight umbilical hernia (which makes me squirmish!) so will have to wait until he's 6 weeks to see if they will treat it with silver nitrate. Otherwise they may leave it until he's older and then operate. Really hoping it rectifies itself!

Hope everyone is doing well!!

LadyMaybe · 31/01/2012 08:08

Hi ladies,
Well, our summer holidays seem to have ended, our back-to-school feeling comes in February, so the urge to buy stationery is upon me - although it seems to be coinciding with some of the best weather of the summer and no autumnal feelings at all...guess that will be later.
So lots has happened since I was last on a couple of weeks ago!
Firstly - huge congratulations to YouRemindMeOfTheBabe, LaylasMummy and Hairy!! it's so lovely to see this news from all of you! The relief I feel at seeing all you reach the end of this particular journey is enormous. Congratulations again!!
LAF - v glad to hear no Ob Choleostasis. You sound like you're dodging the complications nicely - well, apart from UTI?
Knitter - so glad to hear your anatomy scan was normal. A girl will be lovely, how is DS about it? My DS is adamant that he wants the bump to be a boy...I suspect it is, but there's always a chance my instinct is wrong, hope it won't be an issue with him. You put me to shame with your jinx provoking, I haven't done anything quite so organised. But am getting there slowly. Verrrrrrrrry slowly.
Mousebacon - fantastic to see you here! Good lord what a road to get here - I'm so thrilled that it's looking positive this time. How are you feeling? And how is work?
GetaWiggleOn - Have you had that scan?
Twittwoo - I'm another one who didn't use the car seat for anything other than trips in the car. That meant we didn't need to consider car seat compatibility for the pram. In the end we borrowed our first pram - it was a M&P Pliko pramette, fine if heavy, then once I knew a bit more about how I was using it I researched and got the Babyjogger city mini. I always wanted to have the baby able to lie flat as I felt that was safer for their breathing and better for their spine. If you're in an upstairs flat and have a small car, then maybe you should prioritise size, ease of folding and lightness? If you've been out and have a baby bag, sleeping baby, bag of shopping etc and need to get it all upstairs you're going to want something that can either easily be bumped up the stairs without exhausting you, or can be folded and carried quickly and easily, possibly one-handed while you hold onto the baby??
Long trips just need to be divided up - you'll soon learn where rest stops/stations/cafes/laybys are so that you can safely pull over and either feed, change, comfort etc. But if baby is happy and sleeping then just keep going and take him/her out when you get there.
Digi - here in NZ it's illegal to use a car seat that is older than 5 years from its manufacture date. I'm having to do some pretty careful thinking because we have a base for the maxicosi cabriofix, we were lent the seat by good friends and knew it hadn't been in an accident. But now need to try to find a seat to go with it. Trouble is that seat is not so common here, not sure about doing the ebay thing. Hmmm...what to do?
Amandine aka Tina - hope things are going ok?
Milkyways and Coconuts - lovely to see you both too. Sounds like you've both had a few bumps along the way - hope the hole and the hernie resolve themselves. Coconuts, bronchiolitis can be really scary, one of my friends in the NCT group last time around, had a DS who was quite susceptible to it. Unfortunately it did seem to repeat a bit and her DS would progress to a chest infection quite easily with a cold - but it has gotten better with age...just one to keep an eye on I guess.
Sooooo, I had an antenatal appt today, all seems ok except according to the OB I'm measuring 31cm which is on the big side for 26/27 weeks. Got another scan lined up in 2 weeks to check growth. I'm not too worried about it, mainly because I think the Ob's measuring technique was a bit odd and I know the diabetes MW is happy with my blood sugar control so if I AM measuring big it's not because of uncontrolled GD but because I grow big babies (which makes sense, DH is not a small guy!)
I've managed to get onto an antenatal class - which starts tomorrow! I'm doing this as a refresher and to try to meet some local new mums...have decided against the doula in the end (I think...may change my mind next week). Just need to get a babysitter lined up to come regularly to cover the overlap between me needing to get to the A/N class and DH definitely being home for DS's bedtime.
Hope to be on a bit more regularly now - and looking forward to seeing the babies arrive!

LAF77 · 01/02/2012 19:49

Gosh, it is quiet around here! purple toes how are you getting on? stitch and shell you are coming close to term too!

lovely to hear from you lady I hope that your antenatal class brings you in touch with some nice friends. I was considering a doula too, but I don't think it will happen for me. How big was DS when he was born?

twitwoo have you decided on a pram?

coconuts lovely to see you pop in. Hope you and your family are well now.

I hope I updated the list correctly, but it is so nice to see so many of us in the third trimester now. It is hard for me to believe it is happening. I finish in the office this week and will work from home in February. I'm actually moving house this weekend which is a bit stressful, but it should be as minimally stressful as can be. DH has been working away from home since July, so I'm moving to Norwich to be with him. The place is new and fully furnished so I don't have to deal with packing as such. We aren't renting our house out as I couldn't cope with all of the stress of that even though DH said he would deal with it.

I've got my hands full with trying to move to a new GP and hospital. I think I've got it sorted. I meet with the new GP on Monday and will push for a consultant referral for 36 weeks. I had my 32 week scan and baby is at the top end of the growth charts, like you lady He was weighing in near 5 1/2 lbs when most babies are 4 lbs at that stage. I was born at 32 weeks and weighed 4 lbs 9 oz. I'm not a small person and nor is DH. I don't think I will be allowed to go over 40 weeks. The people that I know who have had predicted big babies (over 9lbs) have been induced at 40 weeks.

I've also had a UTI which wasn't picked up on any of the samples I've given, but through my blood test I did for OC. I've had to take antibiotics which I wasn't thrilled to do, but the risks of no treatment were greater than the treatment.

I'm knackered and thrilled to be finishing in the office this week. I'm loving my enormous bump. Lying down at night and watching him move around is fascinating.

Hello ladies Smile

Lovely to hear from you lady Scary boss has been ok thanks, I went to see her today about finishing earlier, going back later and maybe dropping Fridays when I go back. She was surprisingly fine about it all Hmm

I had a bit of a wobble yesterday. I've not been sleeping very well but yesterday I just felt so awful and had shooting pains etc so went to see the mw. Mw said I had protein in my sample so booked me in to see the gp later for antibiotics. Saw the doc at teatime who said I didn't have an infection!

Anyway, I slept for 11 hours last night and feel miles better today. Phew!

mousebacon · 01/02/2012 20:06

Meant to say; baby very wriggly and growing well Grin

Purpletoes · 02/02/2012 14:38

hi everyone
sorry I have been a bit remiss lately. I am still here no early labour for me it seems. It is a bit weird at the moment part of me can't wait to meet my little one and another part of me wants to continue with the decluttering I have started.

It all started with kitchen when my mum came over from Ireland for a few days last week to see me but i have now gotten to the stage where house is more messy than when I began Blush

I had a very dodgy tummy last night and thought that this might be it but unfortunately no.

I am glad everyone is feeling ok it is such a weird experience of highs and lows thoroughotu the 9 months and I have always been grateful for the support and companionship this thread has given me throughout the pregnancy.

right then off to clear some more clutter may get a=on hands and knees to scrub floors to get baby going if not there is a mahoosive hill near me i can powerwalk(waddle) up and down.

Leaves homemade bread and coconut buns for tea.

shellshock7 · 02/02/2012 16:45

Hi everyone, sorry not been around lately, but lovely to read all the baby news Smile

I started maternity leave yesterday and it is fabulous, catching up on housework and over the next week or so seeing all my friends....then the baby can come please!

Had our first antenatal class last night, was quite brutal abt how birth is gonna be which was great for DH Grin

Have done the hospital tour which really put my mind at rest, I'm just excited about it all now and hopeful things will go smoothly from here on in (fingers crossed)....the tour was filmed for a BBC documentary tho so spent time dodging the cameras! Feel very lucky that our hospital promotes active birth and has recently been refurbished so nice surroundings.

shellshock7 · 02/02/2012 16:47

Hope things start for you soon purpletoes Smile

Twittwooo · 04/02/2012 07:57

Hi everyone,

It has been quiet on here, and I've been busy with various things so haven't been on for a while. Lovely to catch up with the news briefly, I'll have a proper read soon.

Thanks for all the pushchair advice. We've now bought a Baby Jogger City Mini which we're really pleased with. I've also bought have a slightly bigger car (bang goes the baby savings), so although we haven't tried it I'm pretty sure it will fit in the boot with other things too! My very small car was getting old and wasn't very well :(

We've also decided to do hypnobirthing classes so for any of you interested in this I'll keep you posted about how it all goes. We should be starting in a couple of weeks. Because DH will be taking time of work for these I've decided to go to the NHS antenatal classes on my own, which feels a little strange. What do you ladies think - will it be awkward without a partner there?

Hope you're all well.
x

LadyMaybe · 04/02/2012 11:54

LAF - sounds like you do have your work cut out, moving is always hard, even if you're doing it as stress free as possible, which I think is the right thing to do. What do you think you'll do if the growth continues to look large? I'll be interested to see how you get on with this next appointment - maybe things will have evened out again?

Hooray for finishing in the office, is that it or will you be doing some work at home? I'm a bit scared of my bump. I just can't believe that it'll just get bigger and bigger from here on in. I remember being completely triangular last time. Must remember to keep doing pelvic floor exercises too Blush
Glad you're feeling better after the big sleep mousebacon, I'm going to be dragging my enormous preggo pillow out of storage this weekend, it's got to that stage where I need more than just a pillow between my legs...I need bump support and preferably back support too! Am determined not to give up on the good sleep yet!

Purpletoes - some call it decluttering...others nesting Grin, here's hoping all that hands and knees action is doing some good positioning and when it does kick off for you everything is in the right place.

Yay for mat leave Shell! Your plan to get a few things done, see some friends and then have a baby sounds completely reasonable to me. Why was the BBC at your hospital? Is it doing something different/special?

Twitt - I'm doing my antenatal classes on my own, first one was last week and it felt a bit odd but ok. I asked the teacher to let me know if there were any in particular that would be very useful for partner to be at and she said she'll give me the schedule this next session. Perhaps you could ask your teacher and make special arrangements even if it's just one session? But seeing he's going to be doing the hypnobirthing, presumably as long as he feels prepared it should be ok? I'll be interested to hear what you think of it - I'm going to start trying to get hold of a CD soon to add to my armoury.

Oof, getting kicked so much at the moment, think baby wants me to lie down and give it some more room, never likes me sitting at the computer too long. Fingers crossed heartburn eases enough to let me sleep!

LAF77 · 06/02/2012 18:22

Thinking of you purpletoes I hope that you got your house into the shape that you want it. Any signs of labour yet?

I'm jealous of you shell for being on mat leave. Hope you get the nice relaxing break you deserve before baby's arrival.

mousebacon glad you are OK and hope that you don't have anymore shooting pains. I love the nights when I get a good night's sleep!

Twitwoo I really like the BJCM. I was very tempted to get one, but it is just a little short for me. I'm waiting to see what the new model is like to see if the handle will be a bit better for me. Please keep us posted on the hypnobirthing class.

lady Hope all is well with you. I am up in the new house. I had the appt with the GP today and will see a MW on Wednesday. I'm amazed at how quickly I could see a MW as where I was before, it took me 6 weeks to get the booking in appt. GP isn't quite as good as my old one. She had never heard of my condition and wasn't sure why I would an appt at 36 weeks with a consultant. She said that she would write to the hospital though. Hopefully, MW will be a bit more switched on and push me through the system faster. When she sees my notes and sees how enormous baby is at present, they won't quibble. I'm not sure what is going to happen when I stop aspirin this week. Perhaps he won't grow at such a fast pace when there isn't the same blood flow in my body. I'm a bit worried about stopping, but the experts say to stop now.

Baby has been really going for it today. I start NCT tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to meeting new friends in the area. Hopefully, there will be some people that I'll get along with there.

Waves to everyone else!

Purpletoes · 07/02/2012 12:08

hi everyone still here!

the last 2 days my bump was really hard and I had some BH but nothing has materialized yet!
I am still on manic cleaning fest but not sure if it is nesting or just hoping!
I have met up with my NCT class and have planned to meet up again on Friday although hoping to have a reason not to go!Wink
I have my 40 week appointment tomorrow and my midwife has promised a sweep if she can so fingers crossed that and the full moon will get me started.

LAF77 hope you enjoy the new house and your new friends in NCT class I very much enjoyed mine.

shell mat leave is brilliant isn't it?
mousebacon and lady glad everything is good with you.
twittwoo nice looking pushchair we went wiht the uppababy vista can't wait to start using it!

right then off to do more floor scrubbing to see if I can launch this bump into action!

shellshock7 · 07/02/2012 13:45

Hi lady BBC are doing a documentary based at my hospital, not 100% sure what it's about but I think some of it is because it's 40 (?) years since men started attending births so looking at the changing role of fathers in child birth? Will let you know if I hear more.....I got a letter asking to take part, said no way!!!

laf sorry your GP isn't much good, hope things improve at your next appt. and enjoy the classes Smile I know how you feel worrying abt the size of the baby, it was my main worry but my growth has slowed down now, which has taken a load off, hope you get some relief too

Hope to hear some news from you soon purpletoes Ive not had BH at all yet, when did yours start? My MW said they don't do sweep till 41 weeks here so good that you are getting it at 40 Smile

Still loving my leave, got a lunch everyday now this week, I'm living the cliche!! Washed all the baby clothes at the weekend, I have never seen a lovelier sight than all his little socks lined up to dry, filling up again just typing it! Packed hospital bag too so DH and I just keep saying how we want him to be here now, just can't wait to get to know our boy Smile

LAF77 · 08/02/2012 16:26

Happy EDD purpletoes hope you are well. Any joy after the sweep?

Keep living the dream shell Even though I am still working, I am happy to be more comfortable at home. I just had an hour long nap cos I was tired!

I echo your feelings on wanting to meet your baby boy. I adore mine already. He does seem to sleep when I do and will wake up when I eat. I am happy to be with DH all the time now. I woke up DH to go to the loo at 5:30. We were cuddling together in the bed this morning and baby obliged by re-settling in to be cuddled too on the maternity pillow when I got back in bed. It is so nice to share these moments with DH now as I have spent most of the pg on my own during the week.

I've had quite a few things delivered lately, the Moses basket, travel cot, breast feeding pillow. It seems surreal to think that there might just be a baby at the end of this process. I haven't started on washing yet, but I may do a load tomorrow.

I met with the MW today and have an appointment at the hospital on Friday, so I'm quite satisfied at how responsive the local PCT has been to me. I didn't think I would be seen so quickly! It doesn't look like I will be able to deliver in the MWLU because they see me as high risk. So, I'm not quite sure what will happen when I go to hospital.

I took the liberty of updating the list again, since it is easy to edit it when one week has passed. I don't mess it up then!

hi everyone
Still here! had the sweep yesterday but nothing has happened my BP is a bit higher than it was so I have another appointment tomorrow to check it and see if I can have another sweep! currently watching OBEM may not be the best thing to watch at mo!

Thank you LAF77 for updating the list like all of you can't wait to meet my little boy now although i think it will be a few days yet!
Shell the lady wot lunches cliche is a definite perk of ml!

hope everyone is doing well today I am off to make marmalade to keep myself occupied!

LAF77 · 10/02/2012 14:17

Hi purple hope life is treating you well and you are close to having your baby! I didn't watch OBEM but I heard it was horrific, so hope you are OK.

Had my appt with the consultant at the new hospital today. I'm classified as high risk because of RMC, which is annoying. So I cant use the MWLBU. I've had a healthy pg, but it doesn't count.

I'm happy to be getting the care I need in spite of moving so promptly though which helps me sleep a little better at night now.

Hey Laf DH and I cuddle to feel him all the time, I hug him in bed so the baby kicks him in the back, it's ace....can't wait till he's here in person in bed with us Smile

I watched OBEM and it was hard viewing, even DH filled up, it was scary. I feel in those circumstances it must be so hard for the partner, just powerless and left to watch it all going on around him, I understand why some don't want their partner to have anymore children after going thru something like that. It made DH and I talk abt requesting a CS over forceps.

Am 37 weeks today so fully cooked! I can't believe it really, what a roller coaster these last 15 months have been....now my worries are abt breast feeding and routines etc. What a difference a year makes Smile

Hope things are moving on purpletoes!

Hello ladies, just marking my place for now. Got my 20 week scan a week Wednesday and will join you properly then, chat soon x

Twittwooo · 14/02/2012 08:23

Hi everyone, just popping in because I've fallen off the thread.

I hope you're doing well purple, I wonder if there is any news?

Not long for you, shell, how exciting!

Good luck for the scan confu3ed, looking forward to hearing about it.

You sound very organised LAF77, I can't say I'd even thought of getting breast feeding pillow so I must start to do some proper research into what we will need! We are lucky to be borrowing a lot of things from family and friends, but there will still be a few things to buy. It's a shame you can't use the MWLU, but it sounds like you're getting good care where you are so I'm sure it will all be fine. I'm hoping I'll be able to use the new MWLU where I am after 2 MC, but should probably check it out just to be sure.

I'm looking forward to starting hypnobirthing in a few days. I also started aqua natal classes last week which was great but hilarious! Is anyone else doing similar classes?

Purpletoes · 14/02/2012 11:09

hi everyone,

So i had another check up yesterday and a sweep. My BP has been creeping up slowly so have booked another appointment for tomorrow although I dont think I will needit as I have been having contractions since 3am this morning coming around every 8 minutes so fingers crosseed! Smile

confu3ed good luck with scan.

LAF it does sound like you are getting great care in new hospital.
shell Hope you are still enjoying mat leave.

It is nice telling people about contractions as I havent told anyone in RL yet as it could be hours yet. Thank god for birthing ball and tens machines!
