Hi ginga, sorry to hear you're having pain. I expect it's stretching/growing pains and completely normal, although i appreciate its worrying at the same time. No blood is a good sign though. Have you felt any flutters of movement yet? Do you have a doppler, some ladies on here swear by them. Hope things have calmed down a bit now...

DiffedAgainDachs · 25/12/2011 12:39

ginga Sorry you're having a worrying time. Lots of people have pains. Tis likely to be stretching pains. I agree with doo flutters reassuring if you have any, doppler good if you have one. However, not that I'm saying this because i think you should be worried, but if you are still worried then get it checked out. It's probably just bean getting nice and snugly settled in and wanting a bit more room, but if you are still worried then never worry about contacting a health professional if you are concerned xxx I've had so many worries and panics in this pregnancy (including lots of red bleeding at 10 weeks that turned out to be nothing to worry about), after losing twins at 20 weeks in May, so I'm on the phone to my doc all the time! Hoping that the pains have stopped and that you have been able to stop worrying and enjoy xmas day, but we're here for you if you need us xxx

doo FX for you for a nice Xmas baby! Am watching this space v carefully for baby announcements! :)

DiffedAgainDachs · 25/12/2011 12:40

looks like i've been on the xmas wine already even though I'm not drinking - second para above was aimed at harassed rather than doo...

LAF77 · 30/12/2011 18:55

Great news for you lady on your scan. It is good to have your mind put to rest. Best wishes for 2012!

Hopefully, harrassed is with her baby now and passing the baton onwards! Early January looks to be a busy time with another 3 ladies coming due. That puts me much closer to the top of the list, aargh!

I'm going to have a bit of a moan, so I apologise for not being sweetness and light. I had my 28 week scan today, and was really hacked off for 2 reasons.

  1. The sonographer was a real cow to me. My baby has suddenly got a really large stomach, it was normal at the last scan, but now, it is off the charts. She kept prodding me to say that I must really like cakes and biscuits, multiple times, and must have gestational diabetes. I was really p**d off about her attitude, like I'm some sort of out of control eating machine. Yes, it has been Christmas, and I've had more sweet things than normal, but hasn't everyone? She said that she would be really interested to know the results of my urine sample because I must have GD. I was really mad about that. DH was starting to examine some of the things we put in the trolley to make sure that they weren't overly sugary. DH thinks I'm being oversensitive about the whole appt, which again, makes me mad.
  2. My community MW never booked me in for 28 week bloods. I have an appointment booked for 30 weeks for anti-D. The consultant didn't seem too bothered about the scan results, but then she was asking me about when I was doing the GTT bloods. I said that I didn't have a 28 week appt at the hospital, but one at 30 weeks. She said that was wrong, and seemed like she was second guessing me about whether or not I had an appt for the blood test. I'm very organised with my paperwork, and there wasn't anything for 28 weeks and GTT.

I (wrongly) assumed that the MW had organised everything for me. I wasn't sure if I actually had to have a GTT as I've am monitored every 4 weeks and they take a sample and nothing has been of any concern to the consultant on each visit.

I'm just really grumpy and miserable. I feel like I've been judged as a bad pregnant woman, like some out of control bottomless pit for junk food, which I'm not. I'm no paragon of total virtuous eating, but I don't binge eat sugary things. I do have them, but not excessively. I will go in first thing on Tuesday AM to do the GTT at the hospital.

It's my 9th wedding anniversary tomorrow, so hopefully, I won't still be in a foul mood tomorrow!

sunnysunchild · 30/12/2011 21:29

Hello ladies, just to say that me sunchild77 aka sunnysunchild had baby girl this afternoon 30th dec by elective cs.I had a reaction to the spinal, and felt really ill. Anyway baby girl is here at 39wks exactly, weighing 8lbs 12oz, and she is beautiful. Im mostly a lurker, but would like to express my gratitude and thanks to you all for supporting me over the last 9 months or so. Xx

dooscooby · 31/12/2011 06:57

Congrats sunchild, great news & prob the last 2011 baby in here (aside from harassed hopefully).

Sorry to hear that your sonograher was rude and annoying laf-they can be really judgemental ime, which is really not on-I'm sure you've not overindulged more than anyone else. Hope you feel better today & have a great wedding anniversary.

Still lurking on here at all times of the day and night! Baby feeding ok on left now but still really struggling to latch on right or when she does, looks like she doesn't get much milk Sad. Aside from that, all is well with her though & she's gaining weight so mixed feeding seems to work for her. Is there another forum for post birth that's active? Seem to remember mention of it ages ok but couldn't find anything.

Anyway, wishing you all a happy new year & I truly hope 2012 brings you all everything you could wish for...

Daisybell1 · 31/12/2011 15:07

Congrats Sunchild, that's lovely news. Glad things are going well Doo, I agree that the post grads forum is very quiet - are you with us on bookface? We have a lovely chatty group on there for post-grad mentalling gossiping. All are welcome!

Happy new year everyone!

Youremindmeofthebabe · 31/12/2011 22:05

Congratulations sunchild! How lovely for you.

I hope harassed is doing ok. I'm alright, still hanging in here. Having a glass of fizz and an early night. Rock on. Hope all you ladies are doing well, happy new year to you all!! X

Velvetcu · 01/01/2012 23:27

Congrats sunchild

yrmotb how exciting yours could arrive any time! I think that's all of us from our "today's the first" thread isn't it?

Happy new year everyone!

MilkywaysAndBump · 02/01/2012 00:40

Hey all, hope everyone had a lovely christmas and happy new year. Congratulations sunchild, hope you're both doing well! Hope harrassed is okay too - must definitely have had her baby by now after induction?
Hope you're feeling better now LAF. Glad your little one is gaining weight and feeding well doo.

I'm still plodding along . Was hoping to go into labour in the week gone, but looks like I'll be waiting another week or two. More squatting, walking and raspberry leaf tea drinking on the agenda for tomorrow - if I can get to sleep now!!

dooscooby · 02/01/2012 06:21

Good luck yrmotb and milkys - hope you don't have to wait too much longer.

Hey daisy I am on bookface but a bit of a reluctant user. Do you have a group/page or do I need to find people individually by their real names?!

LAF77 · 03/01/2012 06:53

Congratulations sunchild on the birth of your daughter. harrassed must get news today, if the baby isn't here already.

I hope I updated the list properly. I've been up since 03:50 and drunk my lucozade in preparation for my GTT today. What a great start to go back to work!

Tuesday 3rd January 2012!

Hey folks - Happy New Year to you and your bumps :)

Had a wibble yesterday and managed to convince myself that it was all doomed so called up the Foetal Medicine Unit. They were super lovely and told me to go in for another scan today... 20 weeks exactly. Got scanned by the nicest scanning lady ever who was so brilliant - bean is fine, spot on for dates and I do feel so much better. She checked all over for any indicators of anything wrong and all was perfect....

Feel slightly silly for panicking but very relieved that all is fine and the only thing with anything adverse going on is my head :) With that in mind I've contacted the person who councelled me after my second and third losses and asked if I can come and see her again to talk everything through.

Sorry to be all me, me, me-ish but you're the only people I can talk to about this really - DH doesn't know I went for a scan and he'd be a bit grumpy that I went without him...

LAF77 · 04/01/2012 18:34

knitter I have had major wobbles too. There are so many things in this pregnancy that I've done that DH knows nothing about. Are you going to have another 20 WK scan that your DH can attend? Can we staple you to the list now?

It sure is quiet around here these days.

I got my GTT results back and my results were normal, no action needed. I had such a meltdown on Monday after the scan, thinking that I'd hurt my baby. DH thinks that I spend too much time focused on being pregnant and I need to find another hobby! Ha ha! It's easy for men to put it out of their minds, but not so easy for us. It's even easier for DH as he is working away Mon-Fri, so my big belly isn't even in his face all the time.

I'm going to attempt to cut back on chocolate until term and hope that this helps my baby, but easier said than done!

KnitterNotTwitter · 04/01/2012 21:30

Thanks LAF - nice to know that I'm not the only one who hasn't reached the magic moment when you can relax and just enjoy being pregnant...

It's appointments a go-go for me at the moment:
17th of Jan is the official 22wk scan - DH and DMIL coming to that!
24th of Jan see the consultant to get their view on having a home birth
16th Feb see Anaesthatist just in case I end up needing to transfer to hospital and have c-section... previous bad back and egg albumen allergy mean they want to be prepared...
21st Feb next midwife appointment

somewhere in there I need to also do an appointment with my doctor too I guess to get the official form to notify work of the pregnancy....

Work keep being very good and giving me all the time off I need - but it does feel slightly unreasonable of me to be out so much... it's pretty much a morning a week at the moment!

wombatinwaiting · 05/01/2012 10:27

Hi all and sorry for not posting in an age but just wanted to come on and wish all you wonderful ladies a very happy new year and the most uneventful of pregnancies, although if you're anything like me, you'll worry that it's uneventful Grin. It's so good to read the stats list and see you all clocking up the weeks. I still lurk even though I can't always post.

Things going pretty well here - Jack is over 5 weeks already which is Shock - he's coming up with some cracking smiles - big gummy grins - that are just gorgeous. He's not sleeping more than 2 hours at a stretch at night, but my best friend here has a ds just 6 days older who hasn't slept at all the last 2 nights so I'm actually counting myself quite lucky! I've built up some expressed breastmilk supplies so DH is going to try and give him a middle of the night feed tonight so let's see how that goes.... for those of you anxious about b/feeding, yes it;s hard work, yes it does sometimes hurt but also yes, it definitely gets easier - I think we've very nearly cracked it. Best advice I can offer is to get expert help - worth it's weight in gold.

Waves to all and leaves lemon drizzle cake xx

LAF77 · 06/01/2012 12:11

any word from harrassed and how she is?

shellshock7 · 06/01/2012 13:12

Happy new year everyone Smile

Stitch hope you are enjoying your maternity leave Grin I've been ill with a heavy cold from boxing day and only just gone back to work today so am very jealous!

Hey LAF and knitter I seemed to get that relaxed feeling as soon as I hit 30 weeks - become really excited all of a sudden and just looking forward to everything....then I decided to watch one born every minute BIG MISTAKE! I think I have mentioned before that I think I will be having a large baby as I was 10lb 2.5 and my bruv was 10lb 14 and my bump has been big all the way thru, well if you saw it there was a young girl who gave birth to a 10lb 10 baby and had a bit of an ordeal and the baby struggled at first too, I am now panicking like mad about how my birth is going to go and that the baby will be distressed! And am having a crisis of confidence about breast feeding, everything you read / hear seems to gear you up for the fact its going to be awful, so am feeling like I am doomed to fail Sad Hopefully this is just a phase and the relaxed enjoyment will be back soon Grin

LAF77 · 06/01/2012 19:27

shell I also watched one born every minute and I wish I didn't. The sonographer told me I'm probably going to have a baby over 9lbs. I will cope with the birth somehow, but the thought of a baby coming out that isn't breathing and blue is horrifying!

Here's a question for all of you mums. It seems that it is very easy to find baby gros in 0-3 months, but sleep suits are not as common. Do you find that your babies wear more baby gros? Would this be warm enough for them? Is it because they spend so much time sleeping that a baby gro is sufficient?

KnitterNotTwitter · 06/01/2012 20:18

Hey lovely ladies

I just watched OBEM... must confess I love that programme - hated the US version... If it's any consolation my DS was 10lb 6oz and was out in a 7 hour labour - no forceps/low apgar scale or anything.... The basic principal is that you won't make a baby bigger than you can get out the traditional way.... The only exception to this is if you've got pelvis anomalies/damage but you'd probably know about that already...

So I'm expecting a baby bigger than 10lb 6oz too....

And yes BFing is hard at first - day 2/3 was a nightmare for me/us... definitely ban guests those days - day 1 is fine but then you need space until the milk comes in and you've got the hang of it.... I loved BFing and was gutted when my ectopic pregnancy meant 2 nights in hospital and put an end to it all when DS was 19 months...

I want this all again...

KnitterNotTwitter · 06/01/2012 20:31

oooh and the babygro question.. what are you calling the difference between a babygro and a sleepsuit?

DS lived in nappy, vest with poppers at crotch and babygro. Coloured babygro for day and white for night... By babygro I mean an all in one thing with feet...

We also swaddled him 24hrs a day for about the first 2 weeks and then gradually loosened him off. At 6 weeks he went into a grobag at night. We tried to minamlise proper clothes/outfits as they tend to have tight waistbands which I didn't feel were good for his little tummy/digestion...

Purpletoes · 07/01/2012 07:58

Hello everyone

Sorry I have been very quiet recently trying to not think about it! Blush
Just realised how many have had babies already and how close I am to top never thought I would see that.
Thankfully this pregnancy has been relatively ok although I am beginning to suffer from lack of sleep and pelvic pain as baby is 3/5 engaged at mo.

So nice to see more people on list.
I have 5 days and counting till mat leave begins and I can relax and start to organise everything properly for little ones arrival.

Will try and keep up with thread now I am finishing work.

Leaves breakfast bagels as apologies for lack of contctWink

stitchinline · 07/01/2012 09:50

quick post and run, am off to my first nct class today - eeek

will come back later and update properly

:)

Youremindmeofthebabe · 07/01/2012 11:11

Hey guys, still here, still hanging on. 40+2 today. Apparently 40+3 is the most common day for second time babies to be born.. Here's hoping. Quite uncomfy now, and getting rather nervous again about it all. Just want to be out the other side now!

knitter I love the sleepsuit look. So cute on babies, I think. Glad to hear all scans going well. I actually got my MatB1 form from the midwife, about leaving work, didn't need a GP appointment for it.

Off to do nothing and lounge around in a slightly cumbersome and awkward way. Hope all others are well.
