DH and I managed to keep it a secret till 11 weeks to the day - our wedding day. We had only told my Maid of Honour and the Best Man a few weeks earlier as someone to talk to about it.

Dad did his Wedding Toast, DH did his, then Best Man. Then I got up, thanked our respective parents for their inspiration in happy marriages and for welcoming us into each others families. Said I struggled to find them a thank you gift to give that would truly reflect this (At this point Wedding Co-ordnator was pooping his pants as he hadn;t been given an gifts to dish out )

Then I said we had the perfect gift if they were happy to wait 6 months, and rubbed my belly . The amount of people who thought we'd booked them on a Holiday yes, cause we are MADE of money.

Was amazing to share it with everyone special to us in one fell swoop. Friends had been staying with us for a few days before the weddng and were at not finding out, even by accident.

Heheehe. Parents, I rang them Live 5h away, so, well. Our hand was forced somewhat as there was potential DH wouldn't make the 12wk scan...(witness in court)...so wanted someone to go with, and couldn't really tell MIL/FIL (preferred MIL for scan - good lord would that have caused Mum tantrums) and not my parents.
So, rang them and did lots of squeeing.
As for MIL/FIL, as I'd been to EPU with bleeding, I had a 7wk scan pic, so just popped round for a cup of tea and handed a brown envelope with the scan in to MIL for her to open!n't in to judge waht was happening and he wasn't needed that day.
You got some news to share then?

Think as we said they had to wait 6 months....I dont really know, tbh. People are odd . Had been together 8 years at this point, so baby was always a possibility.

Waited until they offered me a drink and said I hopefully won't be having a drink for about 7.5 months. My parents thrilled, my Dad had a tear in his eye although also very nervous as they went through lots of miscarriages. Mil was thrilled literally jumped up and down. She couldn't sleep that night with excitement so sat in her sewing room at 4am looking through all her baby materials knowing she is not allowed to make anything until the scan!

The first time I think we waited about an hour. Then we called them (live about 4 hours away) and told them I was pregnant. They were very excited. The second time it was Christmas, and I had taken a pregnancy test that was positive. They were there for Christmas. I told DH to go kill a spider on the bathroom counter, and left the pregnancy test there. He just didn't quite get it, and came out with it, and MIL had to tell him what it meant.

I told my Mum very early, she was delighted.
I told my Dad when I got past 12 weeks, he was very pleased for me.
We told DP's parents after 12 weeks, they looked shocked - I think MIL may have asked me if it was planned...(very much so). But they've got used to the idea now and are very fond of DD, I think they did not expect to be having any more grandchildren. DP was a bit hurt by their reaction though.

EEEEEEEEKKKKKKK!!!!! Congrats!

Just told my Mum on a visit to her, she was shocked as she wasn't sure I wanted children. My Dad had tears of happiness in his eyes. The first time I've ever seen him cry.

PIL we told when we went away with them for a couple of nights. First words out of FIL mouth were 'are you getting married?' Not 'congratulations' or 'how wonderful'. That pissed me off.

we had planned to tell family quite early on, but I'd had bleeding and cramping and waited until after i had had two early scans to be sure I hadn't miscarried and was still getting a positive test result. Was really hard not telling.

When I eventually rang my mum after the last scan she said it was lovely news but most inconvenient! MIL just said "oh how nice" and put the phone down

With DD1 DH (P at the time!) was out with Fil who was speculating on reasons to quit smoking. MIL had already given up. Think he said 'like a grandchild or something'. DH called and asked me if he could tell, then we let FIL tell MIL. Still don't know what her reaction was but she adores the DCs!

Told my mum and she gave me a big hug, told dad (was petrified!) by saying 'Hello Grandad!'

DB however found out from friends, then asked if he could move in with us after i told dad as he didn't want to be around for the fallout. Charming.

My partners in the Army and came back for a weekend we went to my mums for lunch and he was showing her his photos of Sandhurst, I then said oh iv got another photo to show you and handed her our 12 week scan, she had no clue and said arh who's is that lol when I said mine she got all teary and High pitched and excitable / like a toddler on fizzy drinks lol.

Telling his mum wasn't as good, (see mother in law from hell thread) I didn't go, but apparently he said mum iv got something to tell you, and she said OMG Hayley got herself pregnant! and then pretty much hit he roof and went a bit mental, he ended up walking out!

We waited till 12 weeks cos we wanted to tell people together and we knew he wasn't going to be around until that weekend because of his job.

I put the scan pic in a Christmassy envelope addressed to my mum and stuck it under the tree, didn't say anything.

She took out the scan with a puzzled look on her face, and turned it over a few times before suddenly, "SHHRRRRREEEEIIIIIIKKK!" she worked out what it meant. It was a lovely moment.

We told them about a week after bfp. My mum said she already knew and mil cried.

How did your mum know?

I told my parents and siblings really early on (6 weeks), because it was either that or showing up with a big belly at Christmas. I had some days off to visit my family in Portugal and my sweet DH told me that even though it was early day that I should tell them anyway because, even if something bad happened I would have all the people that I love there to support me.
My sister was the first to know as at the time she was also pregnant (she was our inspiration), I just looked her in the eyes and she knew. Then I call my mum and we told her together... Being an almighty mum, she immediately said that she knew it... Aah, dear old mum, she knows everything after we tell her.
My stepdad had the cutest reaction, he just hugged me and kept on said congratulations.
When I returned from Portugal, I felt really sorry for my DH. Not only he stayed behind working, but also he wasn't going to have the extreme pleasure of telling his parents in person. So we arranged a video call and told them, my MIL just started crying tears of joy, it was all very sweet!

We told my parents at about 8 weeks (we thought it was about 10 weeks at the time) because we were on holiday together and I kept throwing up so it was fairly obvious. They were thrilled and gave us both big hugs etc then mollycoddled me for the rest of the hol. We told DH'd parents after the 12 week scan by showing them the scan picture. They are a bit weird and obviously didn't know whether we were pleased about it or not, so they just made 'Mmmm, that's nice' noises. Then MIL said 'I did wonder as you've been a bit off with me for a while'. Not quite the reaction we'd expected (we'd been married for years so it can't have come as a massive shock!
