Loving the head in the sand trick velvet - sort of thing I would probably do....! Probably wouldn't hurt to call anyway....

Still been thinking of daisy loads - surely daisybean will be with us soon!

Ooh - that is so annoying bigmac - you don't mind if it's a little bit of cheap plonk but pricey wine is really out of order. lower costs like that should be one of the benefits of pg!

mamapower · 25/09/2011 10:34

Hi all,

Thrilled to let you know that my baby girl arrived yesterday (24th sept) at 3.30am, delivered at home, so very happy, thanks for all your support in getting here xxxx

Velvetcu · 25/09/2011 10:50

yay mamap I've been soooo excited about you announcing on here Grin Grin

so after just over 24 hrs of contractions, down to from 30 to 10mins apart from 6pm last night they have now almost stopped and I'm left knackered with bump ache and lots of lower back pain. Have consulted Dr Google who says it's pre-labour which can last for days or weeks in the same pattern. Yippee.

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 25/09/2011 10:53

congratulatuons and well done, mamaP :o

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 25/09/2011 11:02

Huge congratulations mamap that's fantastic news!!! Grin Grin Grin

velvet that all sounds exciting, I would definitely ring in if it starts again - doesn't sound like it's going to be too long now!

Daisybell1 · 25/09/2011 11:03

Ooh mamap! What a lovely surprise to see this morning - many many congratulations, hope you really enjoy those cuddles xxx

Still no progress here, although am clearly the world's biggest wuss - needing G&A just for the examinations Confused

Velvetcu · 25/09/2011 11:13

haha Daisy at the G&A - has anyone said anything about it? How is daisybean doing? Have you been in the hospital the whole time? Any word about what/when they'll try something else?

Daisybell1 · 25/09/2011 11:43

Listen, when the registrar is the double of Miranda Hart, with bigger hands but less funny, then you'd need G+A! After 4 prostins I've made it to 1cm - whoo Hmm. Plan is to try and break waters but no guarantees they'll be able to, so god knows what happens next.

Have been in hosp entire time, altho OH came down last night and busted me out so we could go to the pub...

PinkFondantFancy · 25/09/2011 12:47

Grin Grin Grin for mamap huge congratulations!! It is starting to get spooky how twin-like we are-what next????

daisy you poor thing. I dont think needing g&a is anything you should be ashamed of, VEs are nothing nice. Can you get a second opinion? I would be a bit worried about them breaking my waters when so little else is happening. Is there any way they'd consider going straight to a c-section rather than doing all this other stuff which must be exhausting for you. Big gold star for OH breaking you out, good work mrdaisy

velvet I seem to remember that earlier this year someone else, maybe lia had this, that pre-labour seemed to be going on forever. The good news is that this is all work you won't have to do later so if they start up again, try and visualise them working to open your cervix so that you don't feel like it's all for nothing. Big hugs. Please will you phone them anyway?

cep · 25/09/2011 17:49

mamap congratulations so pleased for you.

daisy glad you managed to get out. i agree with pink i'd be worried about breaking waters when things are so slow.

velvet goodluck hon, hope this is the start of things.

Velvetcu · 25/09/2011 18:04

Thanks cep and everyone else for comments/advice. I am still only 35+5 too so not sure how worried I should be about that!

cep · 25/09/2011 20:19

velvet i wouldn't worry too much. See what happens over tonight and if things are still the same tomorrow give the mw a call. Don't forget full term is really 37 weeks so you're only a little short of that, certainly nothing to worry about.

Daisybell1 · 25/09/2011 20:22

Ladies, need your help. No spaces on labour ward so still waiting. Cervix was still long and thick this morning but registrar was able to stretch to 2cms to make breaking waters possible. Have had a real wobble this eve about it all. Options are to continue waiting for a slot which may come at 3am. Or say I want to wait till morning, knock myself out and try and sleep a bit. Then talk to someone senior in the morning about the risks/benefits of each course of action. No-one can tell me how likely a section is...

I just don't know what to do :(.

Velvetcu · 25/09/2011 20:33

Oh daisy what an annoying situation for you. I would probably wait til morning and have a good sleep tonight - you never know things might get going, although that's easy for me to say having not already spent 3(?) nights there. It's rubbish that they aren't talking to you Sad I wish there was something I could say/do to help!

bigmacandhappymeal · 25/09/2011 20:43

Blimey - lots going on!

Congratulations mama!

Daisy can only say what I would do and I haven't been through this before so better advice might come from a second or third timer. But, if it were me and assuming they had reassured me that my bean was happy and comfortable in Chez Bigmac AND I wasn't in too much discomfort I would wait for the morning and talk it through, having taken the opportunity to get some kip. Don't know how much this advice is worth as I'm not walking in your shoes but hope it makes you feel that you are not alone. And remember, you can only make decisions based on what you know and you will make the right choice for you and your bean. Suffice to say, I'm sending you an enormous Bigmac ((hug)). xxxxxxx

bigmacandhappymeal · 25/09/2011 20:45

ps thanks to all for commiseration re last night. Next time I'm going to say something...

IreneHeron · 25/09/2011 20:54

Daisy thinking of you. Hope things get moving soon without too much intervention. In your shoes I'd try and wait til morning to get my options explained.

Mamap congratulations! How lovely for you to have managed at home. Hope you're enjoying your newborn.

Velvet hope you're ok.

Bigmac that would annoy me too. I don't mind subsidising a bit towards alchohol, but not splitting evenly. It is bad enough not being able to drink but to pay for everyone else to get steaming drunk on expensive wine is a bit much. I'd have said something.

I'm hopefully coming to the end of a rubbish week. We're having to contest the car prang so we don't lose our no claims and excess payments. From tomorrow we'll not have a car as they've written ours off and are collecting it for scrap so living in a village with no car will be fun. Hopefully we'll find a new one soon. We've all had awful colds and no sleep for a few nights and today I found out that SIL is possibly life-changingly ill. This latest news has made me buck my ideas up a bit and be grateful that we're all ok really and are about to have a lovely baby.

dooscooby · 25/09/2011 20:59

Oh daisy you poor thing. Not sure what to advise being a clueless first timer and all-really feel for you though, you're doing a fantastic job and are so nearly there. What does your OH think you should do?

Congrats mamap

Daisybell1 · 25/09/2011 21:35

Thank you x I feel fine, and bean is all dandy so I'm also leaning towards getting a good night's sleep. I can't face having my water's broken now and a full night of it :-(

Blackkat · 25/09/2011 21:47

Daisy so sorry that you aren't getting all the information you need and that you are still in. Pleased that OH sprang you last night though. I think the nights sleep is the right move and hope to get some good advice from the Consultant in the morning. Will be thinking of you. ((Hugs)) xx

MamaP Congratulations on the arrival of your little girl, such lovely, lovely news. So pleased to hear that all was straightforward. Grin Grin

Velvet hope all has stayed calm with you - and that you are ok? Really hoping it doesn't carry on in this way for the next few weeks.

Bigmac what a rubbish night - I think you do right to say something next time.

Irene so sorry to hear that you're wrangling over the car, hope you're not stranded for too long. Sorry to hear too about your SIL.

Just scrolling back and so nice to hear from Owl and Pink

Shopping was ok - bought a snow suit for half price - then decided M&P was too expensive so looked in the supermarket and bought 3 muslins and some breast pads (which I'm starting to need already, gross). Feeling reasonably calm about it, thanks all.

Quick question, every time I sneeze, it's so painful inside - is that right? It feels like I'm about to stretch out inside...

to Scooby, WIW, Milkys, Harassed, izzy Minnie and Collie

lara are you there, hope all ok?

Big list up date required, but I really don't trust myself. Blush

PinkFondantFancy · 26/09/2011 07:26

Hope you're ok daisy

Daisybell1 · 26/09/2011 07:36

Thank you all x they tried to take me down at 10.30 last night but I refused and got a decent night's sleep. Have had a show over night so body is obviously trying to do something itself. This morning is another waiting game...

PinkFondantFancy · 26/09/2011 07:40

A show is really positive news daisy. Good for you for refusing last night and getting some sleep. Will be thinking of you today xx

wombatinwaiting · 26/09/2011 08:13

Wonderful news mamap on the safe arrival of your darling daughter - many congrats.

Proud of you daisy for sticking by your guns - here's to the show bringing on a smooth and pain-free as possible arrival of daisybean. We're all cheering for you wildly - I even have pompoms!

Well done on the shopping blackkat. Haven't experienced the sneezing thing sorry, so no advice to offer there.

So sorry to hear about your SIL irene -hope you're doing ok.

It's lovely to see you still lurking pink - how is life on the other side?!

Here's hoping things don't start up again for oyu for another couple of weeks velvet - must be a bit daunting....

Waves to all and offers triple chocolate muffins.

bigmacandhappymeal · 26/09/2011 08:59

Hurrah for the show daisy , thinking of you today.

blackkat I have exactly the same thing when I sneeze. It feels like my diaphragm might split in two and something might burst out (I think it's because your muscles move apart there). Which is nice.

And hurrah for breaking your duck! Also agree re M&P - for clothes in particular it just seems a waste as they just won't last long. Second timers at work have recommended Next, Gap and Tesco for clothes that wash and last well.

Did everyone know that Sainsbury's has got 1/3 off baby stuff at the mo? I bought my first nappies and some nipple pads yesterday. I haven't needed these yet and wonder if I've got defective nips? I'm almost 31 weeks and still haven't had any colostrum. Hmm

Also, I realise this is fairly subjective and it's one of those topics where any answer could be right but... I'm thinking that I'm going to start on disposable nappies for the first 6-8 weeks and then move onto washable ones. For the disposables I couldn't believe the difference in price between huggies/pampers VS supermarket own brand. Now, for those of you who have done it before, do you get what you pay for or am I being a schmuck for buying a packet of huggies newborns?

collie I meant to say last week that I applaud your bravery for your post about getting some formula in! I think it sounds like a perfectly sensible plan which I will also be pinching using

Thanks for the muffin wiw
