A quiet day at the coalface ladies, hope all is ok with particular thoughts for daisy...

Hi owl! Glad life on the other side is treating you very well indeed

wiw hello! Make sure you rest up

lara it's been very quiet from you recently. Hope you are OK?

I'm panicking mildly as I noticed our dates on the freakout room had gone haywire so have updated and now am worried i've done it all wrong. Other than that and a very quiet happymeal (think i've just done a lot so not noticed movements particularly), all seems to be well. I had my consultant anaesthetist appointment at the hospital this afternoon and am delighted to say that I can have an epidural This was a point of some concern as i wanted the option so phew. Also the consultant's wife is about to pop any minute and they are having their baby at the same hospital as me. I feel relieved about this, a bit like I would if I found out that a sous chef eats regularly in the restaurant they work in. :)

Have lovely weekends all - we're thinking of you daisy
xx

Daisybell1 · 24/09/2011 07:40

Morning ladies, day 3 of induction and nothing happening here, not even a twinge Sad think they're going to try another day of prostin but blood pressure is regularly up so not sure what that means... Thank you for all the support, it means a lot xxx

cep · 24/09/2011 08:12

daisy sorry baby still not moving. hope the prostin works today, what did they say if it doesn't?

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 24/09/2011 08:53
Smile

daisy sorry it's dragging on, hope you're not getting too disheartened. Fx for some quick progress today - are they putting you on the drip yet? That was the only thing that worked for me with ds. Good luck x

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 24/09/2011 09:40

Hi all just a quickie.

Was discharged yesterday with Thomas James, born 22nd Sept at 0304, 8lb 12oz, awful labour, two trips to theatre, emergency forcep delivery. Battered and brusied but hes perfect :) thank you all for your support. xxxxxxxxxxxx

Velvetcu · 24/09/2011 10:14

congrats coconuts sorry it was awful for you but so pleased he is here safely and you are getting lots of cuddles! Grin

Daisy how frustrating! Daisybean really doesn't want to come out does she? I hope she gets moving today for you.

Velvetcu · 24/09/2011 10:27

also, I really feel a bit silly posting this, but I need some advice!

I've felt a bit strange for the past few days, had lower back pain, upset stomach and branstons (which I've not really had before). Since around 6a.m. this morning I've had "contractions" (for want of a better word, it starts in the small of my back and spreads out around bump then subsides) every 15-30 mins or so. If I'm laying still I can feel them from start to finish but if I'm moving around I only notice the bit in the middle and then the wearing off.

In between them I've got twinges and a very uncomfortable feeling low down in my pelvis.

I don't want to be one of those first timers who is always at the hospital thinking they are in labour so just wanted to ask what would you do and could it just be me overreacting to nothing much? I've got things to do today so my rational brain says it's nothing and I should just carry on as normal!

Blackkat · 24/09/2011 10:33

Velvet, call the ante-natal day unit and talk to them, they will reassure you and let you know what to do - they must take calls of this type all the time. Smile then you can enjoy your day with nothing troubling you x

Coconuts congratulations on the arrival of Thomas James, hope you are enjoying your cuddles and that you feel less bruised and battered soon x

Daisy thinking of you and hoping things speed up soon xx

From lurking on the freak out room, congrats to Ivy Grin

to everyone else....off to M&P today now I know the sale is on, am going to attempt to break my duck...thanks for advice and encouragement x

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 24/09/2011 10:54

Huge congrats coconuts !!!! Hope you're not feeling too bruised and are enjoying lots of newborn cuddles!!!! Grin Grin Grin

velvet ring in and get some advice, they would much rather hear from you than not. Good luck xx

CollieandPup · 24/09/2011 11:06

velvet your description does sound a lot like what out NCT teacher described as early labour, but as I've never been through it I really don't know. As you have said though, branstons can easily be mistaken for labour, but I think you really need to be checked out just in case. No one at the hospital will think you are an annoying first timer. Agree with blackkat either ring your ante natal/labour ward or just go down. Good luck.

coconuts been thinking of you these past few days. So lovely to hear about about baby Thomas James, well done!! Sorry the birth was traumatic, but at least he's now here safe and sound. Enjoy xx

daisy fingers crossed today is the day for you. Sorry it's taking so long.

bigmac thanks for rectifying my screw up with the stats!

Had news yesterday that one of my best friends from uni is 12wks pregnant. Thats 3 out of 4 of us all due within 6 months!!! Amazing!!!! Off to meet the 4th person too for lunch, apparently she can't wait to 'feel me up' Confused Grin

Happy Saturday all xx

daisy sorry things aren't moving..

cep · 24/09/2011 13:07

Daisybell1 · 24/09/2011 15:37

Many congrats to Coconuts, i'm sorry it was awful but really hope you're enjoying those cuddles.

No news here... Appears that prostin no4 hasn't worked, will find out later if they'll go for no5 or send me for a c-section.

PinkFondantFancy · 24/09/2011 16:03

daisy I'm sorry things are dragging on. I hope you're managing to get some rest. I'm thinking of you xx

coconuts I'm so glad baby Thomas is here safely. I'm sorry it was traumatic, I hope you're feeling better v v soon.

velvet it sounds a bit like things are happening to me. I agree with the others, give them a call, they will be more than happy to talk to you.

wombatinwaiting · 24/09/2011 17:53

Woohoo coconuts - huge congrats on the safe arrival of Thomas. So sorry to hear that the birth was so difficult but great to hear that he is just perfect. I was thinking about you at around 3am this morning and wondering how you were getting on. You must be so pleased to be home.

Daisy - your patience is admirable and so I really hope daisybean arrives safely really soon. Sending lots of strength and love and licks from your sheepdog x

Velvet - good luck with the phone call and keep us posted.

Thanks for all your concern over overdoing it a bit. Have taken it pretty easy this weekend and feeling more refreshed. Went to a brilliant two hour breastfeeding workshop today run by a midwife with loads of experience from the uk. It was so informative and for me has made it all less scary. Felt I should have videoed it all and sent it to anyone who was interested! They had a woman from a stem cell storage place talk to us afterwards - I'm tempted despite the cost. Has anyone else considered it?

Waves to all and leaves watermelon and mint coolers for all xx

bigmacandhappymeal · 25/09/2011 05:24

morning all , who needs sleep anyway? Lovely mint cooler though.

Well after saying it was quiet on Friday, all of a sudden there is loads of news!

coconuts a huge congratulations to you and welcome to Thomas. I hope you feel much better soon and are enjoying the snuggles.

velvet blimey! How did the phone call go? How are you?

daisy I agree, you have the patience of a saint with a very sticky bean! Thinking of you and I'll be lurking for news today

Waves to stickem.

collie lovely news about your uni friends. How nice to have that support around you

blackkat how was the duck breaking? I've gone a bit mad for jamboree in M&P

Rant alert - I had a rather annnoying Saturday night which is my own fault. Went out (I know, actually went out) and had dinner for a friends birthday. I'm trying to be really careful with ££ and got myself all hormonally narked that everyone was guzzling wine like it was water while I was on the soft drinks (one - an apple juice) and when it came to bill time everyone just suggested splitting the bill equally and just got on with it making me feel too awkward to say anything - I only really knew two of the people there. Now normally I would be completely fine with splitting but I was peed off as they were drinking quite pricey wine and it added a load to the bill. I passive aggressively said nothing and then fumed that my night had cost me loads more than it should have.

And because I've been awake since 3 I've been stewing about it. Like a loony. Time for a glass of milk I think.

dooscooby · 25/09/2011 07:24

Lurking too....thinking of you daisy.
Congrats coconuts, brilliant news.
grrr about the wine payment bigmac-it's one of the benefits of being pregnant having cheap nights, so it's annoying when it unfairly doesn't work out that way!
Hope the shopping went ok blackkat, we didn't go yest as we both felt pretty grog. Will maybe try this afternoon

Velvetcu · 25/09/2011 09:40

mac how annoying that your friends didn't notice it for you!

Nothing exciting to report here, didn't phone the hospital as I'm in denial, things are still happening but I'll leave it til this afternoon before I make any decisions. It can happen that you have a false start right?

On my phone but from what I can remember;

blackkat did you get anything nice?

daisy how are things this morning?

PinkFondantFancy · 25/09/2011 09:59

velvet I really would phone for a chat, they won't ask you to come in unless they think you need to.

bigmac I would have had exactly the same reaction, it's out of order funding other people's boozing.
