Biscuitsandtea · 19/10/2011 21:08

Crikey - I don't think I've ever joined a thread and had a birth announcement directly after! Is it always this high octane?

Good work Tunnocks - gorgeous name, and very efficient labour! Shock Hope you have a lovely snuggly night altogether Smile

irene your turn soon!!

izzy yay for last day today. I'm v Envy but at least I only have 2 more days!!!! I had lunch with an old boss today and he bought pup the cutest pink dress....but pup is team blue!!! Lol!! At first I thought he was making a political statement!! Grin

Thank you all so much for asking after me. We/I'm doing ok. daisy thanks for the suggestion of pay in leiu of notice. I didn't know about that so googled it and dh resuested it today. It would makes huge difference. Tbh I don't think they'll agree but they did say they'd at least try to give him a couple of months gardeners leave. Another meeting Friday, and we'll know the final outcome. Amazing what can change in a week. Dh has seen a couple of opportunities already, but of course there are no certainties anything will come of them, but I'm at least reassured for now he has a focus and something potentially positive to work towards.

Sorry to do such a pants catch up! I'm really tired with work and everything else.

Congratulations tunnocks lovely news and lovely name GrinGrin

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 19/10/2011 22:43

collie hope you're not getting too stressed with everything, timing is rubbish and must be worrying but I hope you can at least get some quality dh time for you and pup as a plus. Will keep everything crossed that a good opportunity comes up for him soon (ideally something he can sign up to now but not start until pup is a couple of months old - how great would that be?!)

PinkFondantFancy · 20/10/2011 00:43

Wow congeatulations teacake and well done to DH for not letting you give birth in a lay-by!! Grin

Lurking for news from onions and Irene

collie sorry things are so stressful at the mo :(

bigmac I had the same anxiety thing, must be hormones!

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 20/10/2011 11:12

Morning ladies hope you're all enjoying the sunshine Smile

Got a bit of a wwyd for you...half term next week, I've finished work now (yay!) and dcs will be off school. I had been planning to go up to my parents for a few days with them half way through the week (will be about 35+4 going, 36+1 coming back). Parents live about 200 miles away.

Was originally planning to drive us up myself as dh is at work but mentioned it to mw on Tuesday and she looked slightly Hmm and advised me against driving myself as if anything started to happen it would be better to have another responsible adult there to take over wrt the dcs and of course me.

That's not necessarily a problem - my mum has offered to pick us up and dh can come up after work on Friday and take us home but I'm just wondering about the wisdom of making the trip at this stage? Ds was induced at 39+5 and dd came naturally at 40+1 so I'm not really expecting anything to happen too early but we have a potentially complicating factor in that baby is currently transverse breech with bum down and head up at left hand side. Mw wasn't too concerned about this per se as I already have a scan booked at 36+ weeks to check placenta siting, so can check position then too and work out plan of action if needed, but she did say if I got any twinges before the scan I should go straight up to hospital to get them to scan for position in case cs needed. This makes me slightly nervous about heading so far from home.

I don't know what to do for the best - what would you do? Dcs are really looking fwd to going - as am I - but I don't want to do anything that might be risky. Given that things are unlikely to kick off at 35/36 weeks do you think I'm on pretty safe ground or would you not fancy it?

wombatinwaiting · 20/10/2011 12:49

Gosh - I really should have been checking in more regularly - all these births! Welcome biscuits - it's a bit like London buses here - you wait ages for one and then they all come at once

Huge congrats to velvet and tunnocks - truly fab news. Bet you're glad it was this week and not last week eh velvet? And seriously impressed with your and DH decision making tunnocks on where to have your baby girl! Beautiful names. Keep us posted on how you're getting on.

Talking of which - always lovely to hear from you daisy and good to hear about your prams. Let us know how you get on with the sling if you decide to try that.

V sorry to hear about the situ with DH collie - must be a toughie.

Irene - I think I would go on the trip if I were you, taking m/w's advice of not driving there and back, and perhaps check out the local hosps to your parents.....? Your history is not of early births so I would, but that's me and not you!

Real treat day for me today - lovely aquayoga class this morning, mani and pedi this afternoon and then off for a massage and dinner with girlfriends tonight!

dooscooby · 20/10/2011 18:52

Massive congrats tunnocks - what a speedy delivery, glad your DH was with you!

Welcome biscuits - phased entry is perfectly allowable!

Only a quick one from me-running from work to hosp antenatal class (well not literally running!) and had a truly exhausting week. Roll on the weekend!

bigmacandhappymeal · 20/10/2011 19:47

Ladies - someone stroke my head and tell me it's OK.

MW appt today - all is fine but my suspicions about the Happymeal dropping were correct. I'm 1/5th engaged and also have been having period pains. MW seemed quite casual about it all although she very said if I get any other symptoms I should get myself checked in case I am going into prem labour Shock .

The little blighter could always pop back out again couldn't s/he? I'm not going to pop early am I? I haven't even sorted my bag Confused

Sorry to mememe and dash - my M&S ready meal has just pinged (will Mr B is away it seems only fitting that I should have sweet and sour chicken and eggy rice, no?)

izzy I would go
wiw [envy} at your day!!

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 20/10/2011 19:51

bigmac iirc they can go in and out at this stage or can be engaged for quite some time without going any further (having said that I would be tempted to think about sorting out bags, so you don't have to worry about it Grin ). Baby will come when ready

bigmacandhappymeal · 20/10/2011 20:10

Thanks izzy - it didn't help that when I got to the office after my appt the TENS machine I won from ebay had arrived. I almost had a full wibble.

Noted re bag - it's on my list for this weekend Grin

Biscuitsandtea · 20/10/2011 20:35

Evening all

Hope everyone is OK - Bigmac - wowsers!! I have nothing sensible to add as I know nothing about these things, but hope everything is ok. And make sure you pack your bag at the weekend!

Quick question for you, if I may? I am 17+2 today, and this afternoon have been having achey pains across my lower tummy. Almost period pain-like. Obviously this has got me panicking a little bit and I thought those of you a bit further along might be able to put my mind at rest? I wondered if it might just be that I have done a bit too much hoiking around of DS today, or maybe it was some sort of stretching pain (I have a lot of bump up top, but not so much south of my belly button?).

I'm not feeling kicks or anything yet (but wouldn't really expect to). No blood or anything like that. Should I be worried?

bigmacandhappymeal · 20/10/2011 20:43

Hiya biscuits (am here lurking whilst watching stricly on the iplayer)
I did indeed get them sporadically - often after being very busy and when I think the LO was growing and everything was stretching out. I also got pains where my groin meets my thighs around 17 weeks + and had to be careful about getting up out of bed/getting up off the sofa as it really knacked on occasion.
I honestly don't think it's anything to worry about but if you feel at all stressed about it, give the MW a call - she definitely won't mind a bit.

bigmacandhappymeal · 20/10/2011 20:46

ps think it's called round ligament pain
