Haha irene I'm hearing you on the too massive to move! I'm having a duvet day coz I've got a cold Sad I've decided to try and stop thinking about when miniv is going to arrive, at least until due date, otherwise I'm going to go mental!

Hope everyone else is good Grin

wombatinwaiting · 16/10/2011 10:57

Hang in there velvet and irene - sending lots of comforting massages and duvets.

Just watched the awesome semi between NZ and Aus - Kiwis won thank goodness so all happy with DH although the final against france next week will be a nail-biter!

Did you have a nice time away cep? Hope so.

Today is my first day as lady of leisure but have made the to-do list and I think I'll be busier than I was at work! Shock

i did have a lovely time away thanks ladies, I saw an old school friend, then stayed with another for a couple of nights, then a third in taunton (who i hadn't seen in 2 years, she had a little girl the week before i had ds) then went to my parents for the rest of the week. Mum and i went shopping for the rest of the baby stuff and had a lovely meal out for lunch. found driving a bit difficult at times when the spd kicked in as i moved foot from accelerator to break.

Now planning all my batch cooking. oh and i have a date for ds's grommet op, the 28th, now 2 weeks of mummy stressing to look forward to.

Ireneiswaiting · 16/10/2011 18:24

Cep you sound so organised doing batch cooking. We started that but have eaten it all already. It is just so tempting to get something out of the freezer when you're as tired as we've been lately.

Was it awful when your SPD kicked in whilst driving? I've stopped driving our car because my feet are too fat to flex properly on the pedals.

Good luck for your DS for the op.

Collie they should fit you in with the GP, headaches are can be serious due to them being a pre-eclampsia symptom. I couldn't get an appt. with GP when I had dizzy spells and fat feet etc but when I told the receptionist she made sure a nurse was available to slot me in for a bp and urine check.

Wombat lucky you getting an insight into the maternity ward. I went to the infirmary today to see where to go and nobody answered the door to the midwife unit and I couldn't find the other labour wards where I'll have to go. It was like a ghost town in there. I'm hoping we'll get another time to visit before the event [bites nails]. I didn't want to take ages finding it as DH and his friend who is up visiting were waiting in the car. Ideally DH and I should have explored it weeks ago but the lack of car thing got in the way.

Velvet hope you feel better soon, you don't want to have a cold bothering you at this stage.

wombatinwaiting · 16/10/2011 18:57

What a fab gift from DH tunnocks! Will take you up on your advice to take it easy - I should in theory have 6 weeks left to sort it but I'm feeling oddly guilty about not working.... feel as if I should always be doing something to occupy my time - I think it's a hangover from childhood days when mum and dad were always on the go.....

Boo to all the colds out there - hope you feel better soon.

Sounds like a lovely time away cep.

Can you go back to the labour ward some time soon irene? I did find it reassuring seeing it from the inside.

Started a ribbon embroidery class tonight with a fellow mum to be - not my sort of thing at all normally but thought it might take my mind off labour when it strats..... friend seems pretty adept at it, but I'm feeling a bit klutzy. Will persevere and see where I get!

Minnie74 · 16/10/2011 19:17

Hey girls

cep glad you had a good time away-sounds lovely. V impressed with the cooking. I think we'll try to do that at some point or at least get my mum to make a batch of her yummy lasagne!

collie how's the headache? It sounds like good advice to get it checked out.

irene we can't get to see our labour ward either. We went to the NHS class last Mon and the midwife doing it said they don't do delivery suite tours anymore as it takes too much time. I would have liked to have at least had a vague idea of what to expect.

Had a lovely weekend. DP had organised a surprise meal for my birthday with all my friends as he thought I needed cheering up now I'm getting to the uncomfortable stage of pg. Bless him it was a complete shock as he's not good at keeping secrets-especially from me Grin

Bump's movements are really erratic at the moment. One day moving tonnes and then the next not that much (though probably not few enough to warrant a visit to hospital) It does freak me out on the quieter days though. Anyone else getting this? Confused

Ireneiswaiting · 16/10/2011 19:24

Wombat I think the embroidery thing sounds good. When I was in labour last time I did my horticulture class homework to take my mind off it.

Am hoping to go to the hospital tomorrow. I don't care if I don't see the labour ward, just the correct reception area would be good enough.

Minnie how nice of your DP, he sounds like a star.

The baby feels like he's dropped a bit lower and is really pressing down now [pelvic floor fail emoticon] [hblush], at least I think that's what it is.

bigmacandhappymeal · 16/10/2011 20:52

Evening all

Just checking in in case there was some top of the list action :)

Feeling exhausted after our party yesterday which was lovely but a bit too much for a 33 +4 ish preglington. A cankle alert was issued. blackkat was it you having a do as well or was it harassed? Hope all went well.

I've been up every night from between 4 and 6 since Wednesday - looking much older than my spritely years at the mo.

collie i've also been getting a bit of period pain over the last few days and I also seem to have expanded significantly this week - anyone else get that at 33 weeks?

wiw glad all is ok with miniwombat. So much better to get checked out as you say and it's nice to see where the action will take place - i've found its helped me get my head round it a bit.

daisy and coconuts - hello! Daisy. I am intrigued. Which is the best pram you have? Come on... spill the beans :)

A triple whammy of NCT lies ahead. A class Monday night, a ladies only one on Tuesday night and then a half day on Wednesday (let's all talk about tears and stitches!). Brilliantly, one of the group emailed on Friday to see if we all wanted to have lunch at hers afterwards (I was just gearing up to do it) and we are meeting up. Goddamit, I will have baby friends!

cep glad you had a lovely holiday - welcome back.

Hope this message makes sense, I'm a bit scatty from tiredness. Take care all

bigmacandhappymeal · 16/10/2011 20:53

ps irene - oof re pelvic floor. Good luck with appt tomorrow...

cep · 17/10/2011 08:04

irene it just kept catching me out, didn't happen eveytime, but evey now and then as i moved pedals i got a shooting pain though my groin. good luck for the hosp today.

am vey Envy of all the suprises from your dh's ladies.

glad you enjoyed your birthday suprise minnie

Bigmac good luck for the nct classes.

collie how you feeling?

wombatinwaiting · 17/10/2011 10:17

What a superstar your dp is minnie and yes to the erratic movements - some days loads, other days lots quieter - I think it was owl who worked out that owlet was always quieter on tuesdays and thursdays - I haven't got to that monitoring stage yet, but I'm beginning to get curious if there is a larger pattern going in!

Ouchy ouch re: groin driving pain cep - not pleasant....

YOu'll be able to conduct your own antenatal classes soon bigmac Grin - do let us know if you pick up any other valuable info - your stuff on contractions was great.

Thanks for the reassurance on the embroidery stuff irene - I was dreaming about some of the stitches last night - how sad is that?! Blush - am intrigued by your horticulture homework - is that something you do for a living?

Waves to all and leaves out fancy fresh custard fruit tarts!

hotnspicyonions · 17/10/2011 13:53

Afternoon all!
Collie did you manage to get to the docs. I'm just about out of my 4th bottle of Gaviscon. It think maybe will have an addiction to peppermint! Hope they can do something about your headache. As a migraine sufferer, I know how disabling a headache can be :(
WIW definitely throw away the to do list. Make the most of this time and put your feet up. With DS I planned on having 2 weeks off ML before he was due to arrive, but my waters broke on day 2. So enjoy putting your feet up at every possible moment!
Harrassed how's life back at work? Do you need reminding how happy your are to be there yet??? [hgrin]
Cep glad you had a lovely break. Hope there was lots of chill out time for you and the spd has eased a bit now.
Velvet & Tunnocks boo for the cold. DP thinks he's coming down with one too, so gives me a great excuse to keep away [hgrin]
Irene I too am feeling huge. My Mum's neighbour yelled down the road at me the other day "Think of the poor pavements!" Nice bloke eh?! [hhmm]
minnie what a lovely treat from your DP. Mine did manage to go get me some pain au chocolate Saturday morning, before watching the rugby. First time I've used "the baby wants one!!" in this PG I think!
Bigmac have fun at the NCT stuff. It'll be nice to have some new mummy friends for you to compete compare notes with [hgrin]
Daisy & Coconuts glad life on the other side is treating you well. Now you've got your LO's I bet it seems funny thinking how life was before them. They are sooooooooo worth it!!
Well life here is like this.... MW appointment went well on Friday. Baby's head is 2/5 in. Yesterday morning woke up at 8am to strange feeling, couldn't decide if it was a contraction or if I just needed a pig poo [hblush]. Went for the latter (literally) then had another 2 contractions in 20 minutes. Put Mum on alert and then.......nothing! All stopped! Bloody false alarm! Baby Spicy was having a right old dance around inside. I think this one's gonna be trouble when it eventually comes out. I need to keep reminding myself that I still have a week to go. DS was exactly a week early, so that would be today! I'm resigning myself to the fact I could quite easily have another 3 weeks to go. Patience was never one of my strong points!
Well I'd best go. DS is off today with an inset day. He's currently lounging on me giving me lots of cuddles. We're going to make flapjacks [hsmile]
Sorry for the mammoth post ladies, it's obviously been too long [hbiscuit]

Ireneiswaiting · 17/10/2011 15:40

Onions aren't people hilarious [hhmm]. And I hear you at the thought of another 2 or 3 weeks, I'm hoping DS2 will appear at the weekend but the thought that I may have to wait longer is a nightmare. Having said that can I admit to being a little bit afraid? I've been hanging about reading childbirth threads about ragged bits and it has given me the fear (don't go there unless you have to!).

Wombat the horticulture thing is now something that I do for a living, I started retraining as a garden designer when pg with DS. There were lots of redundancies at the art gallery I used to work at so I thought I should get ready for a career change.

We went to the hospital today and DH managed to find where we're supposed to go. I stayed in the car with DS as it was absolutely honking down and DS and I didn't have coats. I told DH I'd be in no fit state to find my way anyway so he may as well take charge.

shellshock7 · 17/10/2011 16:01

Just posted on the freak out thread that I had my 20 week scan today and everything was perfect....team blue!!!

So gonna take the plunge and move myself officially over here Smile Looking forward to getting to know you all and will have a good read of the thread to make sure I'm up to date!

hotnspicyonions · 17/10/2011 16:18

Welcome to the crazy gang shell where the mentalling continues right through to probably the teen years [hgrin]

Don't know if its nesting but I've made chocolate, coconut & cranberry flapjacks & a batch of toffifee fudge. 1 more batch of fudge to go do gonna route through the cupboard to see what I've got. May just go for good old b4 9, always a winner [hsmile]

hotnspicyonions · 17/10/2011 16:25

irene I'm playing the avoidance game. DS is 5 and a half so childbirth is a faint memory! Plus I didn't think I was having strong contractions with him until I was examined & told I was already 7cm dialated! I'm rubbish at that sort of thing. It's a good job the maternity centre is 5 minutes round the corner. And I have paramedics living up the road & an ambulance controller (who has already dreamt she delivered my baby in my front room!)

hotnspicyonions · 17/10/2011 16:27

Actually DS was exactly a week early & born at 16.48. 20 minutes to go [hwink]!!!!

hotnspicyonions · 17/10/2011 17:56

Sorry for all the posts, the last 3 were on my phone, and it wouldn't let me say much!
Just a quicky for those of you having trouble sleeping, at my physio the other week she suggested sleeping on my back but at an angle of about 45degrees, so not flat. I have since found this very comfortable and by putting a beanbag behind and then pillows on the top, you get the right sort of angle. I have found this very beneficial and now have no pain in my hips, which I was suffering with a lot!

Ok, I'll try and shut up for the rest of the day now [hgrin]

PS Went for dark chocolate, cranberry and mixed nut fudge in the end! Seriously stop now woman!!!

cep · 17/10/2011 18:01

ds was born at 5.55 the day he was due. i can't get it into my head that i may have this one early/late and/or during the day rather than night.

shell congrats on team blue.

Ireneiswaiting · 17/10/2011 19:35

Shell congratulations, glad the scan went well. Boys are great, go team blue!

Onions how nice does cranberry and dark choc sound, mmm! Thanks for the tip on 45 degrees. I find myself turning over every 20 mins or so all night and having to rearrange my pillows. Every time I go onto my back in the process the weight of bump makes me burp and then I get reflux. Drives me mad!

DS was on due date, 7.30 pm. Who knows this time.

milkyways · 17/10/2011 23:08

Hello all, just popping in quickly to see if any babies have made an appearance yet!!

collie Hope your headache is better - I don't know why, but I always find that dispersible paracetemol (panadol) always clears up any headache I have much faster than the other tablet forms.

wiw and velvet Hope you're feeling better now!

Congratulations shell! Welcome to team blue!

Have my MW appointment tomorrow, lucky me. Need to give bloods AND have an Anti-D injection in my bum/thigh. I just hate injections...Also looking forward to parentcraft on Saturday!

onions I know it's too early for me to be nesting, but I have been doing alot of baking this past week too! I made a carrot cake, chocolate muffins, choc chip cookies (with DD) last week, and today I made a pumpkin pie Grin. My husband is loving it!

Velvetcu · 18/10/2011 08:10

Morning Grin

Eva Lily arrived at 4:50 this morning, 7lb 3 so not exactly a little one! I'm quite sore, had a couple of little tears stitched but doing ok Grin

Any news from anyone else?

PinkFondantFancy · 18/10/2011 08:24

yay yay yay for velvet!!!!! Fantastic news and beautiful name!!!

hotnspicyonions · 18/10/2011 08:35

Woohoo velvet. Lovely news & beautiful name. I'm shaking my pompoms gently but not eating any popcorn as I feel sick this morning :(
