harassed glad your consultant was nice and was prepared to discuss options with you. Good luck with your baby room sorting today!

I was up all night with contractions again which stopped at around 5am and are now just strong branstons every hour or so. Am completely knackered again and wondering if DH is actually going to believe me when I do go into labour properly!

I hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine and if you're not that at least you are having a non-stressful day at work :)

CollieandPup · 28/09/2011 12:02

Ohh nice to see lots of newbies de-lurking to say congratulations to daisy..... I hope you'll stay

velvet DH going away must be be a worry. My own DH was thinking he'd have to go to Europe (clearly closer) for a system roll out in Nov, but thankfully it's all been pushed back to march.

I'm also getting a lot more branstons these days-anyone else finding this? Actually -tmi altert- I Understand that constipation can be a symptom of pg, but I'm having the opposite problem. It's very loose Blush every morning Blush Blush

harassed glad the consultant was nice. Sounds like he was very positive. I have mw apt today and looking forward to knowing if pup is still head down. I'd love another scan to see where he is and his size.

I know what you mean about being a bit bored, but I have to say I'm back to work tomorrow and dreading it! crapy nights sleep past few nights so I'm back to being shattered. Currently lying on sofa struggling to drag my lazy arse off it. Wouldn't mind getting out later in the sunshine though!

stickem whoop for both beans having healthy hb's, must be sooo happy.

hairy Yay for you too!!

I can't see back any further and brian is making it very difficult to remember what I've missed!

pink coconuts daisy and others on the otherside, I hope you are enjoying it. I'm sure it's hard work but it must be amazing!!!

Btw I too feel both Grin and Envy at all the new arrivals. We are so unprepared at the moment that we need the next 7 weeks (eek is that all??!!) but I also want him RIGHT NOW!! having said that I had a mini freak out yesterday in the car when I realised that this little person I keep wishing to be here, is going to be here forever. I mean FOREVER!!! like I'll never be without him!!!! OMG, breath. I know this is clearly obvious, but......

Nice to hear from you harassed. Pleased the consultant was nice and great news that you'll be getting your bundle pre-xmas. I'd love that - mainly due to me having a horrid xmas miscarrying again last year (mmc on 22nd Dec - my current EDD!) and my own badly timed xmas birthday! Hey ho - safe arrival is all that is really important I suppose and another christmas waiting it out isn't so bad if we're lucky enough to meet our little one soon after.

My bump seems to have exploded over the last few days, people are really staring and it's also gone really hard - is that normal ?! (28 weeks). My butt is also rapidly growing and I'm back to rubbish sleep, but feeling pretty good apart from that and a bit of hip pain at night.

Collie - hope the return to work isn't too bad - you've really not got much longer to go now so hopefully it will be winding down all the way now (excuse the pun!). I can't remember who else was off work for a bit too - was it bigmac? Anyway, hope you're all keeping cool in this lovely weather and having a nice Wednesday.

Btw - has anyone heard from dachs recently? I've been wondering how she's getting as I know it's a difficult time for her. Dachs thinking of you if you're lurking lady x

cep · 28/09/2011 13:36

harassed glad consultant was good yesterday. i'm ok thanks just getting tired now, finish next wednesday, which both seems close and yet so far away.

collie hope tomorrow goes well, when do you go off on leave again?

doo it does tend to go hard which is really weird. you have every chance to have an xmas baby as well you know, firsts can come ontime as well. ds was born at 5:55 on the morning he was due.

dooscooby · 28/09/2011 13:41

ah cep, that's nice to know. What a punctual little one your ds was - hope the next one is just the same!

cep · 28/09/2011 14:09

we've been late ever since mind. Grin it was actually quite funny cause my parents didn't think i could possibly have him early or on time so hadn't taken their phone up stairs yet. I reached my mil in Greece before i got hold of my parents in the uk, i didn't get hold of them until about 3 hours later.

Minnie74 · 28/09/2011 14:27

harrassed glad you had a successful visit to the consultant and good news about the cs too.

collie I know what you mean about the forever business- it does freak me out when I think about it and then the other half can't wait for it to start. I just hope our relationship (DP and me obv!) doesn't change too much. He struggles to see how it might change and I keep thinking of all the ways it's bound to change -good and bad I suppose. Then I feel guilty cos I really do want the LO! Aargh mental baby brain!

doo my bump seems to change daily, sometimes really hard and others just a bit blobby! Who knows Confused

I'm off work today as I was sick last night. I can't decide whether I've picked up a bug from the kids at work or it's my heartburn being really bad. Woke up in the night and was violently sick with no warning. Lets just say it's a good thing we don't have a carpet in the bedroom! Also learned that neither me or DP are going to be any good with baby sick! I get another day off tomorrow too as I'm not allowed back to work till 48 hours after last time I'm sick. Feel guilty about that but it is good for my ankles which are swelling massively by the end of a day now. Another lovely bonus of being pg Smile

Enjoy the sunshine

harassedandherbug · 28/09/2011 18:31

Minnie that sounds awful!! On the sick front, you'll be fine when it's your own child. I'm the biggest sick phobic going, I have a panic attack if someone even mentions being sick! Have always coped with my kids though.

doo mine is hard most of the time now. Hard and huuuuge!! My first was spot on his due date, so fingers x'd for you.

cep sounds like you're finishing not a moment too soon!

God I'm stupid........ I've done faaar to much today. Unfortunately the room just looks like I've moved the mess around Hmm.

IreneHeron · 28/09/2011 19:26

Minnie you'll be fine with the sick. It isn't like sick at first anyway, just soft milky cheese. You'll be covered in so much of the stuff that it will soon become normal, likewise wee and poo!

The forever fear thing will be gone too and you'll not imagine what life was like without the little blighter.

My hired Tens machine arrived this morning. Reality has hit me that there really isn't much time left to go [wibble].

I'm getting sick of feeling like a beached whale, and my ankles and fingers have swollen up over the past week. I don't know if it is something to worry about, especially as I've seen stars a couple of times and been a bit dizzy.

A lovely lady from the village gave me a sack load of clothes for the baby today. I've only chatted with her for a couple of weeks at the school gate and now we've had a couple of coffees together. So sweet of her. I know people want to offload crap from their attics but most of it was really quality stuff so I'm really grateful. Loads of little warm tracky bottoms and soft, cosy velour tops.

mamapower · 28/09/2011 19:44

Thanks all and congrat's to daisy Grin

I'm starting to recover from my tearing (3rd degree)! But, was worth it as I had beautiful home birth in a pool with no drugs at all

Waves to all

dooscooby · 29/09/2011 09:52

Ah, it's all very quiet in here today after a flurry of new arrivals in the last week or so. I guess everyone is either enjoying the sunshine or busy with their LOs.
So emoo is top of the list now, do any of you fine ladies know if she's still around on MN or is she possibly MIA? If she is then daisy will be handing the baton to irene - yey!
Hope you're feeling better after the sickness minnie - I'm also getting swollen feet and ankles now - not sure if it's the weather or just hitting the stage when that's what happens.

bigmacandhappymeal · 29/09/2011 10:51

Morning all

Just had my 31 week appt (Gp rather than MW - does everyone elses work like that?). Anyway, all is good. Happymeal is spot on size (in your face bumhole at work who told me I looked massive), I am healthy and she had a look at my nips which I was a bit worried about (little nobbly bits on the nipple itself but that is fine apparently). Good heartbeat and some breakdancing observed by a healthcare professional. Hurrah!

Also, she advised me to leave work a week earlier - at 37 weeks to give myself time to emotionally prepare for the baby. Was going to try and push to 38 but might just take the time and think bugger it. What views do you guys have?

collie how are you doing back at work today? Have you deleted all emails that came in and demanded magnums from your colleagues?

irene how lovely of that lady - people can be just so nice. I understand the wibble, particularly as your place at the top of the list is pretty much assured :) Was going to look into TENS hire this week.

mama glad you are feeling good and recovering from 3rd degree tearing. Gulp.

minnie poor you. I'm telling myself that baby sick is going to be lovely and a million miles away from adult gubbins. You'll be fine :)

harassed glad appt went well with consultant and lovely re a christmas baby. How are you doing after that busy night?

Hi doo, I'm getting cumberland sausage fingers now and a touch of cankle every now and then. My bump also goes rock hard. I imagine happymeal with a strain face desperately trying to make more room as s/he grows.

cep I am Envy that you are finishing next Wednesday!

Right, must get on with work.

CollieandPup · 29/09/2011 16:10

Hellooooo!!

Oh god I am sooooo hot! I am melting in my office! bigmac there is nobody about to demand magnums off Sad I share an office with 2 other people and 1 is on leave and the other is of gallivanting at a meeting!!! Ha, I managed to delete nearly half of my emails based on the following criteria:

  1. It was a ?your mail box is full notification?
  2. It was clearly junk ? i.e. come and attend this conference for the bargain price of £xxx
  3. I didn?t recognise the name of the sender or think the title was relevant so most likely to be deletable
  4. I don?t like the sender or the topic Grin
Still ploughing through them though!! Have however been out for a sneaky coffee?meeting Grin. This is now my plan, to get me through till my mat leave. 1 day a week doing bugger all working from home and arranging as many midmorning / afternoon coffees-- meetings as possible Grin

cep I love that ds was so punctual. I only hope pup is the same, but I just know he?s going to be late and make me miserable keep us all hanging!

Yay for harassed getting xmas baby! I know that will be a weight of your mind re your dd. doo I can relate to wanting to have had it by xmas, I mc over xmas too (well just after but found out at scan week before) so I?m relieved in knowing LO will be here before then.

harassed I hope you are taking it easier today. I know its hard to not do everything but you must rest ? at least a little

mamap you deserve to be more than a little smug for a completely natural birth, well done. Eek at 3rd degree tear though, but glad to hear you are doing better.

Minnie hope you are feeling better today and that you can enjoy your second say off in this sunshine!

Irene how lovely of that lady to give you so many things. My assumption is that swelling is compulsory later on, but maybe worth speaking to your mw especially if you are feeling dizzy.

bigmac glad your 31 week apt went well and that you are spot on for dates. I think an earlier finish that 38 weeks is a good idea, but I think it all depends on you as an individual. Are you office based. Do you have lots of nice colleagues to look after you, or are you pretty much left to your own devises and expected to brew up, shift all the crap etc! Is your commute long (mines an hour)? My friend said her long commute was a killer in the end. And how do you feel. Is you sleep better? There is no way I could face working until 38weeks now, but then I have a lot to get done at home to be ready and its generally a difficult time at work anyway so I can?t say I?ll be sorry to leave.

On the topic of being on track size wise for dates, I have a question. I had a mw apt yesterday too (32weeks). My last apt was at 30 weeks and she measured me 1 week small for dates ? so my fundal height was 29. She didn?t even mention it and I wasn?t bothered. This time my fundal height was 30, so 2 weeks smaller, having only grown 1cm in 2 weeks. Again she didn?t even mention it until I asked and wasn?t concerned. She marks a cross on a printed chart of my babys expected birth, which I think is based on my height, weight and BMI taken at either my booking in apt or my 12wk appointment. Anyway according to the chart I am average ? as they expect me to be 30cm at 32weeks. But I thought your fundal height was supposed to match your weeks gestation? Or is this how they account for size difference between ladies? I?d ask her, but she is really dismissive about everything ? and she is actually marking me off on the chart in the wrong place to I have little faith in her ? sometimes I get the impression she just isn?t bothered!

Sorry, another epic post!!!

OP posts:
CollieandPup · 29/09/2011 16:11

don't know what went on with my crossing out above Confused

OP posts:
Blackkat · 29/09/2011 16:22

Quick post, sorry ladies, epically busy at work at the moment. Re the fundal height thing Collie I think that it goes with week to a certain point but then is a bit different from week 30ish on. Assuming we all have the same chart in our notes (?) then 30 cm bump is just before 30 weeks if you look at both axes without your point on them and the shaded area gives room for differing growth. HTH -I only know this bcs people keep telling me I'm huge (they should sod off) but I measured 28.5 at my 28 3 day appt and have been stressing (on and off) ever since. Though I could see that I was still within normal range. A helpful colleague told me today that I'd ballooned and that she had her daughter early after ballooning in just the same way...tsk

Right, virgin mojitos all round and proper catch up later xx

cep · 29/09/2011 16:54

afternoon ladies,

another good bit about finishing next wednesday, is that i don't work mondays so i only have 3 working days left, and i should finish approx 11:30 on wednesday and i have consultant first tomorrow so not likely to get to work till about 10:40 -11:00 so not even 3 full days, so technically i have approx 9:45 hrs left.

i had my last growth scan today and a great big for the professions who think cause i'm large so will baby be. he/she is currently 4lb 10 at the moment (estimate of course), she seemed happy that i'd put on just under 7 kgs by 34 wks, but the big test for that one will be the consultant tomorrow.

harrassed glad appt went well. and now rest with feet up.

collie i don't think a week makes too much difference, pretty sure they would have said if they were worried.

blackkat always amazes me how much advice pg women seem to get, although i admit i haven't this time, probably cause bumo doesn't look too huge this time round. (wonders if different belly for different sex is true. oh well 6 weeks to find out.)

i'm sorry i know there's somethign else i should be responding to but brain has gone again.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 29/09/2011 17:17

Collie - I'm not sure if your notes are the same as mine were but my charts were personalised ones so the growth as per my height and weight so everyones charts are different so depending on your size etc as long as the growth is along the average centile they wont be worried.

if they arent personalised ones then 1 or two weeks wont concern them, so try not to worry.

Those of you on the FB group, look at my profile and at the pic of me taken by my friend when I was in hospital, just to see how big I really was! I grew 2cm more before the induction as well! And after my waters were broken I lost 6cm! Shock

bigmacandhappymeal · 29/09/2011 17:38

I'm going to be honest and say that I don't understand anything about fundal height enough to comment :) What I do know is that someone in my preggers pilates seemed too small at 32 wks and this was acted upon pretty quickly - scan, consultant visit (all is Ok with her now, baby was just right down in her tiny pelvis) so I think if there was a problem collie they would have sorted you out.

I have a fundal height chart in my notes but noone has written on it! They've just added fundal height into my notes for that meeting. Hmm.

I am office based and have nice colleagues but like you it's a hour to work and then back again and I manage quite a big team and can't be arsed worry about the stress. It's all a big gamble isn't it? Watch me move it a week and then be here at 42+5 with no baby yet and bored out of my wits.

coconuts that is certainly some impressive girth :) How bonkers to lose 6cm - it's crazy isn't it?

I have been working from home today. At lunch time I got my trotters buffed at a local place that had an offer on. Goodbye hard skin and hello lovely red toenails :) I love working from home.

bigmacandhappymeal · 29/09/2011 17:41

ps also the doc gave me a flu jab today. Thanks for the tip (velvet?) about not getting in the left arm as my right arm now knacks. If it had been in my left I wouldn't have been able to sleep on it.

Who am I kidding? Sleep? Ha!

Tunnocks I'm so sorry to hear such sad news. I don't blame you wanting to keep a lid on it though, you need a positive outlook when you're about to give birth. Just make sure your DH keeps a close eye on you, baby blues are bad enough, you don't want to get depressed when your little one is born.

It does feel a bit weird being top of the list. I'm keeping my legs crossed, my Mum can't get here until 3 days before due date as she's in Spain, and I'd really like her to be around. DS1 was born exactly on due date so hopefully I've got a couple of weeks left. Besides now is a bad time, DH is on a jolly tonight in Inverness with his mates and will be back tomorrow, and we don't have a car so no emergencies here please.

Just enjoying the weather here today. We went for a lovely walk on the beach this morning and then my friend whisked me and DS off for lunch at the local farm shop cafe. She's now taken DS and my other friend's kids off to another beach to tire them out. She is a saint or crazy and I clearly owe her one.

Emoo · 30/09/2011 16:26

Sorry, typing one handed whilst attempting to breastfeed!!!

Formally handing the baton over to Irene as I appear to have very rudely done a major piece of queue-jumping! Grin
Huge congrats to all the ladies I leapfrogged - Pink, Coconuts, MamaP and Daisy - and I hope all is going well.

A little baby girl arrived at 36+4, quite unexpectedly Shock, overnight on 13 September. To be honest I was quite delighted to have got that far, as it was several weeks more than I went last time! Labour was quick - 2 hrs from start to finish, and I ended up with only Hmm a first degree tear. Unfortunately we both had some minor complications post-delivery, and ended up being incarcerated in hospital for longer than I would have wished, but we are both physically well now, and home, and she seems to be feeding okay and growing nicely.

Teacake sorry you are feeling so sad... and I hope you make it to the magic 37 weeks this time. x

IreneHeron · 30/09/2011 16:49

Emoo yay, congratulations! Glad you're home safely and you and DD are well. And congrats that you're breastfeeding too. [gingerly picks up baton with a slightly worried look, holds it at arms length before hiding it behind the sofa].

Velvetcu · 30/09/2011 17:37

Yay emoo congratulations Grin

tunnocks sorry you are feeling sad, I understand you wanting to try and hold it back but do make sure you are looking after yourself.

Irene GrinGrin top of the list!!

I saw the midwife yesterday and miniv is 3/5 engaged. I really hope she isn't planing on making an appearance next week while dh is away. My dog really is still looking like the best birthing partner in waiting!

dooscooby · 01/10/2011 04:02

Middle of the night check to find wonderful news from emoo - congrats!

velvet hope the miniv stays safely wedged until your DH is back and you're well and truly ready.

tunnocks sorry to hear your sad news, your approach sounds very sensible given the circumstances.

irene hope the baton stays behind the sofa until you're good and ready!

Right, back to trying to find a sleeping position that doesn't hurt...
