Labour must be close because not only am I absolutely starving, exhausted but unable to sleep let alone well!
But I swear if DP's elbow touches my arm one more time I will throttle him!
I cannot stand anyone near me and nearly everything is driving me mad with misery.
I am also highly emotional.

Come moan with me, please bring warm donuts Grin

Just a quick update, my gorgeous girl finally made an appearence this morning at 1.50 am weighing in at 8lb 3.5 oz ( on her daddys birthday )

Will not fill you in to much on the traumatic details Grin but basically pains started at 3am, went into hosp at 4pm yesterday had the wonderful epidural at 9pm.

aStarInStrangeways · 25/07/2011 20:52

Congratulations nicplus1! How lovely to be holding your baby girl at last :) Hope you're getting lots of rest now and snuggling her.

Good news on all the inductions and softening cervixes Grin I'm seeing the a/n diabetes team at the hospital tomorrow morning so am really hoping my cervix is feeling flirty enough to sweep. Cramps earlier tailed off as soon as I had a rest, of course Hmm Going to settle down in front of CSI with some snack food and then go to bed...y'know, just in case I might need to give birth any time soon.

minicorrect · 25/07/2011 21:02

nicolamumof3 massive congratulations on the arrival of Isla-Rose - amazing to hear it went so quickly and lovely that you have a little girl at last!

Button massive congrats to you too after all you've been through. How's your pelvis now?

MummyTigger - sorry it was a bit dramatic at the end but with that weight perhaps the sunroof was the better option!! Hope you and him are both doing fine now and enjoying your first days together

Nicplus1and1baking time for a namechange then! Sorry it was traumatic but fantastic timing - my sister was born on my dad's birthday and they've always had a very special bond because of it.

AFM - nothing going on here. Sorry for the last miserable post - was having a bad day. Yesterday was much better though as I actually did some nice stuff with my parents and DD & DP including lunch in the sunshine. Also did lots of walking/waddling but to no avail. Spent last night awake worrying about the consultant today as it was at this point with DD that things really started to go wrong, but then my waters broke overnight and everything changed. However, the guy I saw was obviously new, had no idea why I was even there and discharged me as the next appointment wasn't for 6 weeks. He also nearly didn't give me my notes back until I pointed out that I had to keep them! That was the final clue to his newness!!!

Also took DP to get the amp today - not a hifi aficionado so felt a bit weird sitting listening to CDs in a special room listening to chat about what cable to use, etc! Baby seemed to enjoy some of the sounds though as there was lots of kicking! Had also had a lot less movement overnight last night and had naively hoped it was a good sign but alas, nothing!

Don't remember having a show last time and not had anything this time either. Often feel quite wet down below but when I check it doesn't seem like there's anything there - very weird - brain playing tricks I guess!

And in other news, my parents may have the chance to give me some part time work while I'm on ML which will be great - especially as it seems like I may be up for redundancy towards the end of the year anyway.

And the best news ever - someone found our cat and she is now back home with us looking like she never left. So happy to have her back safely after over a week - had completely given up hope. Baby can come now!!

Sorry for the long post - have been reading but only on phone so no time to catch up before.

Hope you're all well and grinning through the discomfort, emotional highs and lows and another day closer to meeting our little ones.

Georgimama · 25/07/2011 21:07

Huge congratulations to all the ladies who have sprogged in the last few days, I have been off line for a few days as I er, dropped a cup of coffee on my laptop. I blame hormones.

SOOOO fed up and yet do not want anything to kick off as ELCS booked for Friday and could really do without emergency dash (hospital is 45 minute drive). Baby is kicking like mad and squirming about, far more mobile than DS ever was. Hope this is in fact meaningless and not indicative of any kind of distress - certainly no midwife I have seen has seemed concerned about it.

Orbinator · 25/07/2011 21:27

40+6 here. Put on another half stone in 2 weeks. How is that possible? My poor knees are not liking it at all and I feel like an old biddy :(

Been doing a lot of walking and bouncing but still no show. Secretly hoping I flushed it and am having one of those slow labours that goes on for a week and then suddenly you find yourself pushing in the loo or whatever Grin

Was wondering if anyone else remembers the very start when they told us the due date? I know I had calculated mine to be 26th but the scan made her the 19th. Maybe tomorrow will be my lucky day?!

Darlingdamsel · 25/07/2011 21:42

Nic - Congrats and what a lovely name.

Orbit - Tell me about it. I jumped almost a stone in 4 weeks and just realised it this weekend. It did nothing for my mood, let me tell ya! But that said, the baby had been on the small side. Maybe he has caught up?

oinkyoink · 25/07/2011 22:21

nicplus congrats on your baby girl!!!! :) you must be delighted to have your little girl in your arms finally!

what is everyone doing for childminding when they go into labour? we have no family nearby and my good friend is on holiday so i'm very anxious. another good friend lives about 1 hour 15 mins away which isn't great either. we have just moved house and our lovely neighbours told us to go into them if we need but dd hardly knows them and i think i'd be panicking worrying about her if she had to go into them. my MIL arrives later this week so hopefully nothing will happen between now and then.... nightmare!

glad to hear about the inductions for those of you who now have one planned- must be nice to know it'll be over soon and know exactly when it's happening.

aStar glad to hear someone else's baby movements have changed a little... i guess it is mega cramped in there now. when the MW palpated my tummy, it was clear how baby was lying and how big he was as they go around all the bits (limbs, back etc) it feels weird as you realise you really are carrying a little body in there :)

better go to bed, i am so naughty with staying up late even thought i'm shattered but then again it's so nice to have a few hours me time when dd goes to bed!!!!!

TrinaLuciusMalfoy · 26/07/2011 06:26

Been awake since 5.30 for no apparent reason. Still nothing and can't face spending another day weeping. Is there any point ringing labour ward begging for mercy or will they just tell to have sex & curry?

corneliak · 26/07/2011 09:57

Congrats to those who had their babies in the last few days...theres hope for us! lol

TrinaLuciusMalfoy I was booked for an induction at 41+2 with my first, managed to avoid it; but you should be able to persuade them if baby is all developed.

Woke up last night with terrible pains in my lower stomach after a little rough session (sorry Blush) with the hubby.

Midwife app. this after noon, any one had a sweep before 40 weeks? I am 39+5 now.

TrinaLuciusMalfoy · 26/07/2011 10:45

Yeah, I had one last Wednesday... (39+3)

I really don't want to be induced. Going in for section pre-op this afternoon and apparently it's going to be a midwife doing it - pondering asking for another sweep, or at the very least a cervical assessment to see if she can tell me if ANYTHING'S happening.

LadyGoneGaga · 26/07/2011 12:00

Just to let you know that my beautiful daughter Iris Mary was born on Sunday night at 10.58 pm. I was given a Pessary at 9am. Nothing happened til lunchtime, started having weak niggly pains that didn't do anything! At 6pm they broke my waters and labour established about 7ish. 3 hours 45 mins of labour with 20 mins pushing and managed on gas and air despite her being 9lb8oz, with her elbow by her face! So inductions don't have to be horrible. She's gorgeous and so worth it.

Congrats to all the new mums and babies and good luck to those still waiting

aStarInStrangeways · 26/07/2011 12:44

LadyGoneGaga CONGRATULATIONS! What a wonderful story, well done you, and a beautiful name for your little girl :) Your post was particularly welcome for me to read as I am now booked for induction on Thursday, due to blood sugars becoming a little unstable. I'm glad about it (ready to meet my baby, makes planning childcare for DS a bit easier etc.) but still nervous about the possibility of getting caught on the intervention cascade, so thank you for giving me hope that a straightforward delivery might be possible :)

corneliak I had a sweep this morning at 39+1. It was fine, not uncomfortable at all. Perhaps I just have a capacious cervix Grin

Orbinator · 26/07/2011 13:05

Congrats Lady! Very envious of you! 40wks+7 here Envy

I was told by my new MW that they usually don't do smears until week 41 as the cervix isn't usually ready before then, so don't be disappointed if they try and it doesn't work. I've got my second attempt booked for 28th...first one the MW couldn't actually reach the cervix so I have to assume it was closed.

No show still. Pains sporadically but nothing repetitive or overly unbearable. Bored.

Going into town with a friend in a bit to do some food shopping. Walking back up the hill better get my cervix flirty as I'm not having another 10min fumble only to be told it is too far away to gauge!

Orbinator · 26/07/2011 13:06

Sorry Blush SWEEPS not smears. I'm getting confused as that young boy/doctor kept saying he would give me a smear instead of sweep. D'er!

corneliak · 26/07/2011 14:10

Congratulations ladygonegaga sounds like you had a good time!

I hope my mw will offer/give me a sweep then, or at least check. Last time I had pains a little in the morning, had a mw app. at 11am and found I was 8cm!! Wish that would happen again haha

MrsVidic · 26/07/2011 15:37

Does anyone else wish they could do a sweep themselves? If I could figure it out and it was safe I'd so do it! Just been on a 3 mile walk and no progress! Had a few twinges this morning then nothing!
I know I'm being stupid as my due date isn't for 9 more days but it feels more like a dead line and I just want it to come! Plus I swear I'm getting really fat and new stretch marks each day! 2.5 stone - half of that has been since the middle of June! I don't understand why I'm putting on so much- I'm not over indulging so badly and still excersizing! Angry[angry

corneliak · 26/07/2011 19:36

So no 'stretch and sweep here' she said they only do it past 'term' shes going to do one on the 2nd AUGUST :o Praying hes here by then!!!!!!!!!

MrsVidic I dont think it is recommended but some people do try home sweeps; some people do 'cervix massage'? which I think would be safer. Im sure sex is almost the same thing.

well Tesco had vienetta on for a pound so I am off to indulge 10 of them...

witches · 26/07/2011 21:23

Mrsvidic your two and a half stone sounds right on target and if your keeping healthy your baby must need it. I have put on tons of weight as can barley move let alone exercise and have rather enjoyed my food! Im sure the weight will fall off you that sounds totally normal amount.

MrsVidic · 26/07/2011 22:20

Thanks witches- I needed to hear that Smile
Don't think I could do the sweep myself as I'd worry I'd do it wrong!
I'm trying to get an early night but I'm too antsy! Can't relax!

oinkyoink · 26/07/2011 22:30

Mrs Vidic - I've put on 2.7 stone so don't worry....... I am normally a size 8 and I don't mean to sound boasty but I just cannot see where they weight has gone. My bump isn't huge, people are constantly surprised that I am due so soon..... Or perhaps I am just not seeing the real me, like last time I was preg and then looked back on photos of me with my bump and saw that my face had swollen to ginormous proportions. It fell off very fast though, I actually weighed less than before I became preg in the end. Hope that happens again, it took 6 months.

MrsVidic · 28/07/2011 06:05

Still here Sad feel like a whale! I thought dd would come last night as dd1 said she would - that will teach me for listening to a 2 yr old

JenniL1977 · 28/07/2011 07:04

37+1 here, and totally ready for if baby wants to put in an "early" appearance. I've been on mat leave for precisely one week and I'm utterly bored to tears already! This isn't helped by the fact that we only moved here 2 months ago and I don't know anyone, especially anyone with/just about to have a baby :( bloody NCT are being rubbish and haven't responded to any of my emails for information on when bumps and babies groups are, and all my appts for antenatal classes are clashing with other walk in groups. Annoying!
So today I will amuse myself with sorting out car insurance. What joy.
Congratulations to Nic and anyone else who's popped this week, well done! If anyone gets any time to post birth stories I'd love to hear them.
MrsV I've put on 3 stone (and counting) - although I'm not sure where either - I'm usually a size 8 too, although I saw a picture of myself the other day and I look enormous round my face too.
Good luck to aStar for your induction today! How exciting :) xx

MrsVidic · 28/07/2011 07:36

Jenni- I worried about meeting ppl so much b4 dd but I joined the surestart breastfeeding support class once a week and a few of us 7 meet up a few times a week now.
Everyone is in the same boat and all scared- we have a Lovley lady in our group who instigated meet ups post bfeeding and we are all real friends now. Indeed id say I'm closer to these women than some of my life long friends
Look into pre school groups, sure start and baby rhythm time/ swim classes

Darlingdamsel · 28/07/2011 08:39

Still here too ... today is induction day. Alas though when I called at 8 to find out when to come in, they said to call at 9. I wonder if the whole day will go like this?

TrinaLuciusMalfoy · 28/07/2011 08:40

Still here too. Now officially the longest I have been pregnant without starting labour :(

Feeling properly sick (like morning sickness) this morning and getting period pains - but not wanting to get my hopes up...
