Chavvy prams?

Hiya ... don't mean to upset anyone, but I'm going shopping for a pram soon and wondered if there are any brands out there that are considered 'chavvy' as I'd rather not buy one of those ...

am I the only person who laughs at the name Quinny? Why would you buy a pram named after a fanny?

sungirltan · 19/05/2011 18:40

is a quinny a fanny? god dh will think thats hilarious as thats the pram we have he he

Blobby11 · 19/05/2011 20:01

Loving this thread. Am wondering why some people are getting so uppity about it though. Isn't it just a bit of a laugh?

brettgirl2 · 19/05/2011 20:06

I've got one with a tinted raincover, big exhaust and spoiler innit. What a load of shite.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 19/05/2011 20:07

Loads of big fat gypsy prams in Sunderland. With frilly covers, nameplates and baby boys wearing flat caps.

ilovesprouts · 19/05/2011 20:09

yuk id never buy that pram fron argos its minging

sungirltan · 19/05/2011 20:31

omg flat caps???? seriously?

i've seen the number plate style name plates. the last one read 'hubert'

buttonmoon78 · 19/05/2011 20:36

poshbling indeed.

My sister's boy wears flat caps. So does his dad. My dh says they both look like knobs a bit silly.

Borisneedsahaircut · 19/05/2011 20:46

I love that one from Argos and its suitable from newborn too.

I have got a nice one this time around for our baby on the way. I had no idea about prams last time around and got a Koochi 3 wheeler (which actually served us well!!) but have gone up a notch of the snobby mums ladder this time with a Hauck I'coo system.
Mind you this was still quite inexpensive, I got it new off Ebay at a really good price but it looks very posh!

I would never spend £400 + on a pram especially when you can get cheaper ones that look very similar.

ilovesprouts · 20/05/2011 07:42

when my ds1 was a baby a got given a big green silver cross coach pram was fab and turned heads wen i went out no way it could go on a bus tho Grin

shesparkles · 20/05/2011 07:58

I'm another one with the British Racing Green coach built pram-absolutely fantastic-loads of room for baby to lie down, nice and high so not at vehicle exhaust height, properly waterproof so you don't have to use a plastic bubble, baby always facing you for chatting, HUUUUUUUGE shopping basketGrin, fantastic suspension, and an absolute dream to push.

I used mine till both my children were about 16 months-they loved sitting up with it, with the wee backrest and reins

On the converse, no use whatsoever if you want to do anything other than walk! It'd be a nightmare for public transport and they don't exactly fold up in the car boot!

Mine's now packed away in the loft in case I ever get grandchildren.

(and no shiny chavvy quilts here either, white cotton sheets and cellular blankets for me)

Mumswang · 20/05/2011 08:07

Those big plastic things where there is a hood each end which ate both always drawn up. Not sure if the babies round here are vampires or if their monthers hVe had the foresight to purchase a pram with a much needed built in cigarette smoke barrier

buttonmoon78 · 20/05/2011 16:41

Ping that pant elastic Mumswang!

Anythingwithagiraffeonit · 20/05/2011 17:42

Beesok - bad reviews on a Bugaboo?? I loooove mine, everything about it is fantastic.

Lol at the name Quinny!!

VioletV · 20/05/2011 21:51

I have an iCandy peach and I love it! I couldn't give a flying monkeys spunk if anyone thinks it's chavy or whatever. OP buy whatever pram your heart is set on. Seriously I've never heard of any mother being singled out because she has a pram that could be classed as chav. Oh and anyone who does think like that I suggest you get a life.

Bogeyface · 20/05/2011 22:14

Who's up for a Silver Cross v Bugaboo rumble then?! :o

Personally I reckon us coach built owners could take you flimsy bugaboo-ers in pavement chicken, no problem.

There's only way to find out........ Wink :o

Bogeyface · 20/05/2011 22:14

There's only ONE way to find out..... even :o

talulubell · 20/05/2011 22:51

He hee .... I 've always thought of graco as chavvy, a friend once said "when the wheels squeak they scream poverty" and it always make me chuckle when I here a squeaky one!

Beesok · 20/05/2011 23:18

Anything yep, I did have some people comment on its certain flaws and maybe I'm in a minority in the UK but I actually am not a fan of the way the look......

My top of the list at the moment is Teutonia - still not sure which model though :) and no, I don't care if someone thinks it's chavy :)

luluzulu · 20/05/2011 23:52

anything white leather haha! anyone who says they dont have a private opinion on other ppls prams are liars, it just cant be helped to feel smug at having a nicer pram than someone else. its just the same as having style envy and you see someone looking great you think 'bitch'

luluzulu · 20/05/2011 23:54

lol wish i looked as good as that. anyway anything in white leather

buttonmoon78 · 21/05/2011 00:12

Beesok my DH says Bugaboos are the pram equivalent of scholl sandals. Damn ugly!

Beesok · 21/05/2011 09:16

Button too funny :) To be honest I don't think they're bad prams and I really don't think they're chavvy but EVERYONE has them (and yes, if I see 10 people wearing the same thing on the street that puts me off too) and they don't look that great ;)

Looks wise I love the Mutsy but again - read too many negative reviews on certain aspects.

I did not know that buying a pram is sooo stressful!!!! ;)
