Chavvy prams?

Hiya ... don't mean to upset anyone, but I'm going shopping for a pram soon and wondered if there are any brands out there that are considered 'chavvy' as I'd rather not buy one of those ...

Am I the only one who was miffed to give the pushchair up as that meant I had to carry the shopping again? Grin Not sure I could have done any shopping carrying a 15 month old in a sling at 6 months pregnant!

sungirltan · 18/05/2011 11:37

silver cross surf is quite nice renaissance but i take it you dont plan to put any shopping on it? if yes have you seen the size on the basket?

sungirltan · 18/05/2011 11:38

yy to och - there is a slingmeet group around here. not sure who is more prententious, them with their slings and snobbery or us with our shworoom collection of buzzes and bugaboos - i suspect both!

buttonmoon78 · 18/05/2011 11:38

I couldn't possibly carry any of mine in a sling as I have a bad back and joint hypermobility.

So this one will travel in Loola. So there.

KittyChat · 18/05/2011 11:44

I've got a free one from Freecycle, it has seen better days but I don't give a shite what anyone thinks. Cannot imagine just using a sling - I don't have a car so going to the shops and then hauling back crap+baby would be a nightmare.

buttonmoon78 · 18/05/2011 11:44

Grin same goes for the leopard print Myleeeeene Klass buggy at Mothercare. I'd show you but i'm too lazy to learn I don't know how to do links.

Newmummytobe79 · 18/05/2011 12:03

Loving the answers on here! :) was in a bad mood before but the wit on here does make me giggle :) didn't mean to anger anyone - just a lighthearted discussion (and a secret hope for funny links!) I thank you Sungirltan! :)

I would run a million miles from a slingmeet.

MamaChoo · 18/05/2011 13:08

Pinky, couldnt disagree more about the cupholder - chavvy or not they are brilliantly useful!

sungirltan · 18/05/2011 13:16

theres a myleene klass buggy? goes off to google....

inbetweener · 18/05/2011 13:41

PMSL at " My kleen ass "...
Was that intentional ?

sungirltan · 18/05/2011 13:57

nah, nicked it off here! my persnal theory about MK is that her actual name is 'melanie'

Flippingebay · 18/05/2011 13:59

Just don't let the GP pick a pram :o for my DDs first birthday my parents asked if we wanted anything, we said a cheap buggie would be great, nothing flashy or expensive, just something we could chuck in the boot of the car for days out.

OMG!! They came back with the pinkest thing you've ever seen with Roses all over it... I actually refused to push it (felt like Vicky Pollard), when my parents had gone home of course :o

scarlettsmummy2 · 18/05/2011 14:07

That juicy pram is hideous. I reckon anything you cam weekly on from one of those catalogues is a bit dodgy.

scarlettsmummy2 · 18/05/2011 14:08

pay weekly. sorry for appalling spelling.

Anythingwithagiraffeonit · 18/05/2011 14:18

Cattleprod - maybe the people with pink prams will buy another if they have a boy... Or maybe they don't want more children?

I have a bugaboo cam with a red set of fabrics but just yesterday bought the the pink fabrics as well... Because I'm pretty sure this is my one and only DC and I want to relish in the girlyness!

And if accidents happen... I'll buy a blue hood!

The juicy pram is chavtastic!

curleywurley2 · 18/05/2011 15:12

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its a bloody pram, who the hell cares lol!!!! Just buy one that has wheels and you can fit a baby in!!! No body is going to be looking at you and judging you, if they do then they obviously dont have anything else in there life to worry about!

sweetkitty · 18/05/2011 15:22

I do know someone who has the Juicy Couture one!!

Around here anything like a huge white leatherette Emmaljunga one, lacy embroidered quilt on top (why??) with lacy or feathers dangly things hanging off it, oh and baby with knitted hat with more lacy feather dangly things (even in Summer) would be chavvy.

Best one I ever saw was a huge leather one with green and white lacy embroidered everything, the babies name (yes double-barrelled something like Chelsea-Leigh) and Celtics youngest fan, being pushed by Mum and Dad wearing matching Celtic tracksuits and jewellery.

memphis83 · 18/05/2011 15:30

sweetkitty i think you live where i work!!! We have a customer that buys secondhand prams and covers them in frill, lace, bows and roses and re sells them for sill money! And yes her pushchair was the Juicy one that she customised with lace and pink ribbon!!!!

frantic51 · 18/05/2011 15:39

Surely this is the only choice? With a uniformed Norland nanny attachment obviously! Wink

AppleyEverAfter · 18/05/2011 15:41

Cattleprod.. that's a Big Fat Gypsy Pram surely? Grin

KatieWatie · 18/05/2011 15:51

Feeling totally overwhelmed by "travel systems" I asked my mum to ask a chap she worked with who's had a few kids. This was the response:

"Apparently they are also a fashion statement - Mamas and Papas and Quinnys (?) are "in" and McLaren and Graco are "out""

Not really what I was looking for - I don't care about making a statement!

And I'm still putting off buying anything...

KatieWatie · 18/05/2011 15:55

I've also seen in Tesco Direct some awesome Union Jack strollers/prams.

I'm a big fan of the Union Jack as an image and I have it on a lot of my stuff, but I wouldn't dare buy a pram with the image on in case I get judged as 'chavvy' which is a bit sad really :( but entirely my own hang up I suppose!
