is anyone else feeling a little left out by the first-timers due in December thread? This will be my second DC (DS will be 3.5). I think I'm due on 15th December.

Thanks ladies, scan went really well. The heart was beating away happily and baby was really active. My dates were out by 9 days, I'm now due on 20th December. At least now I know why it took me so long to get a BFP, I was obviously testing a week too early.

Hello all!

I'm 14 weeks on Thursday with dc2. Have ds 14 months. Suffering with dreaful hyperemesis which sneakily goes away for a day and makes me think I'm healed.

Hopefully this pregnancy will be straight forward once the sickness fucks off for good Grin.

babychoochoo · 01/06/2011 23:23

Hello Ladies,

I had my first scan today, I've been a bit quiet recently as i has a bleed and wanted to check everything was ok.

Found out today that not only all is good, but i am expecting TWINS!!! nearly fell off the bed.

Also found out my dates were out by a week and instead of 10th December im now due on 4th December.

aethelfleda · 02/06/2011 00:07

Yay seven, that's lovely news.

Ooh, how exciting babychoochoo! very glad all is well. I think I'd hit the ceiling if there were two in here! Did you have any inkling/feel bigger/sicker than you expected?

Thanks eve and the others who commented about my lousy scan timing- I have a planned solution- my dad has offered to take me to the scan so I'm not by myself, and a friendly mummy from school has offered to have DD2 over to play and pick up DD1 from school. So I feel nice and supported, ans DH promises a long phone call that evening. still nervous cos I want so much for everything to be OK.... But a lot happier.

LaWeasel · 02/06/2011 11:24

Hi Lady! Didn't know you were pg, congratulations. Hope the hyperemesis backs off soon.

Congratulation seven and babychoo!

I haven't got a scan date still yet, feels like everything is on hold while I wait for the scan. We are going to have issues with DD too, hopefully DH can get the day off and stay in the waiting room with her, and I will just have to have the scan on my own.

LadyOfTheCuntryManor · 02/06/2011 11:30

Yes, did my bfp 13 weeks ago on MN (under protest I might add!).

Best of luck with your scan Grin

eve34 · 02/06/2011 12:23

Afternoon all.

Glad the scan's went well for everyone - Twins hey how exciting.

I am still waiting to hear from the MW - GP said to wait 3 weeks - which is Monday. might go in tomorrow and see. Really want to have scan date and know everything is ok.

I have a big meeting with work at the end of the month and would like to tell them the news, but only if I know everything is ok.

dollyshouse · 02/06/2011 14:20

hi girls, last post but just wanted to let you know I was OK after my bad news I eventually had a D and C last weds and have had a couple of bad days emotionally and have felt so exhausted but feel I am getting back to normal a bit now and after some soul searching have decided I am going to get sterilised and be thankful for what I have (DS and DD) as I am 44 and had 2 MMC's in the last 18 months and I don't want to go through it again plus I now have an extra stone to lose which I can't put down to the baby totally as I have been comfort eating for england and we go on hols in 7 weeks and all my size 14's are tight tight tight -those that I can fasten anyway Blush
Hope all goes well for everyone, seven so so glad your scan went well yesterday and babychoochoo brilliant news re twins - amazing!!

take care girls will be thinking of you at Christmas Grin

harassedinherpants · 02/06/2011 15:41

Hi dollys I'm so sorry you feel like that, but I understand as I do too. For us, this is our last chance after a mmc in Jan and mc in March. It's too much, and we go through so much physically and emotionally. I'm glad you have a holiday to look forward, take lots of care of yourself.

Hi everyone! Sorry I've been awol, we've been house moving and don't have any internet until next Friday. Stupid Sky! So I'm back at work and in the land of th living Grin.

seven lovely scan news!!!

baby Congratulations! How exciting Grin.

aethelfleda glad you have your scan sorted out.

Moving has been a nightmare and I'm exhausted!! Dh has the rest of the week off to carry on the sorting out. I thought that was a good plan Wink. I have my 12 week scan appointment through, it's for next Friday. Cue much mentalling........ need to sort out someone to pick up dd from school that day as it's at 3pm and she finishes school at 3.15! Tempted to take her with us, but then thought no, just in case.

sevendwarves · 02/06/2011 19:26

Thanks everyone.

dollys glad you're ok and that you've come to a decision you're happy with. Take care of yourself and have a lovely holiday.

baby twins how exciting!

Thanks for posting back dollys, glad you're alright-ish, and the very best of luck with things. Enjoy the holiday and your lovely DCs.

Xxx

eve34 · 03/06/2011 19:58

Evening all

Dollys hope you have a lovely holiday. Really sorry to hear your news. Hope you have lots of cuddles from DS and Dh.

I had phone call today have scan Tues and midwife friday. DP is in germany so it will be just me and my dog!!!! Feeling ok about it now, but i expect on the day I will feel a bit lonely. Never mind.

sevendwarves · 03/06/2011 23:02

Sorry to hear that eve. Do you have a friend you could take to the scan with you if you don't want to feel lonely? Don't forget we're all here for virtual support if you need it.

OP posts:
aethelfleda · 03/06/2011 23:42

Heya eve , sounds like it's all happening at your end! Remember to take a few ££ to get a pic for DP, and hope it all goes Ok. seven's idea is a good un, though of course I don't know if there is anyone nearby you'd want to go with you. I'm sure all of us can think of a few people who would be a disaster to have in the scan room LOL...

Man, I had a grotty day today. Does anyone else feel sicker when it's hot and sunny? It's a bit like jet-lag or coming off a night shift at the moment, when the sun comes out it makes me turn green!! Bah humbug.

aethelfleda · 05/06/2011 20:26

Wow, it's gone all quiet!

Is there anybody out there??

eve34 · 05/06/2011 21:29

Evening all,

Hope you have all had a restful weekend, DP has gone to Germany, I went out so I wouldn't get upset. He did offer to get work to change it, but it is work and he is new to the job so don't want him to mess them about.

Seven and Aethefleda - I have hopefully roped in a friend she is meant to be at work, but is going to try to get out for an hour. So pleased she can be there.

I am begining to get a bit anxious about it. Also had note from midwife that I am lined up for the test for downs. Not sure what that involves I thought you had a scan and they looked for indicators then take bloods if you so wish?

Hey ho I will report back on Tuesday :-)

sevendwarves · 05/06/2011 22:05

eve I'm pretty sure that's all it involves but I declined it, I didn't have it last time either.

Hope you've all had a better weekend than I have. I spent yesterday exhausted, constipated and feeling very foggy, almost hangover-like (although obviously not!). I was getting pains in my lower abdomen earlier and was starting to get worried, until I had to run to the toilet a couple of times and thankfully I've been fine since. Still better this weekend than next, I have to be a bridesmaid at my friends wedding, attend my neices christening and host DS's birthday party all within 4 days.

OP posts:
goodnightmoon · 06/06/2011 12:09

eve - the usual "combined test" is them measuring the nuchal fold (neck) and then running a few tests against your blood. best wishes!

seven - sorry you're feeling so rubbish - my tummy has been giving me all sorts of trouble in every way possible too. next weekend sounds like a challenge for you - hope it all goes smoothly.

speaking of challenges, I've got one of the biggest ones of my life coming up - we're being kicked out of our rented house and have 8 weeks to try to find, buy and complete on a house. mission impossible. We've been scouting to buy for several months but thought we had until the end of the year to pick and choose a house in the ideal catchment to apply for my son's reception start.

we currently have a nanny share based out of our house and I have no idea what will happen now except it's going to be an awful few months!

fingers crossed I won't have any bad news at my scan Friday to add to this nightmare.

harassedinherpants · 06/06/2011 13:34

eve I agree with the others about the test, we've also declined it though the same as last time.

seven next weekend sounds "challenging"!! I hope you'll be able to get lots of early nights this week.

goodnight we've just had that happen to us! The landlord is abroad and decided to sell all of a sudden. They offered it to us at an overly inflated price which we politely declined! We decided to rent again, there's just nothing I like enough to buy out there at the moment, and I didn't want to rush into anything. Good luck for Friday, I have my 12 wk scan then too.

I'm shattered today, and that makes the ms worse! Dd woke up last night for the first time in a good while and at 3.30am it seemed such a good idea to just pop her in with us. It wasn't!! She wriggled all around, kept me awake, woke dh up and then had to be woken this morning. She says she's loves sleeping in our bed Hmm.

goodnightmoon · 06/06/2011 14:28

harassed - sorry it's happened to you too! we wish they'd let us buy our place, we love it, though the schools are a bit rubbish. it would also be more than we want to spend though. I don't mind renting but am horrified by prices (this is SE London). I'm seeing £692/week for really average Victorian 3 and 4 bed houses - it's unbelievable. We've saved our pennies for a long time so I just want to bite the bullet and buy now.

letting DD into bed - dangerous! it seems a good idea at the time but we have the same issue with DS - wriggling, and worse - snoring. we've put a ban on it but it breaks my heart when it's 4am and he says he wants to sleep in mummy's bed.

harassedinherpants · 06/06/2011 14:39

I loved our house but dh wasn't so keen! It was a 3 bed terraced victorian style, with a huge single storey extension, but the upstairs was very cramped. Plus once you've lived there you know all the work it needs doing!! I come from SE London (Blackheath/Lewisham way) I would have to have to afford a place up there. It's bad enough here in Hampshire!! We're paying £850 a month for a 3 bed, 3 storey 10ish years old townhouse.

I'm happy renting for a while yet as dh is a self employed roofer so we never know what's going to happen work-wise. We sold our house 3 yrs ago to rent, which was a good decision! Got my money out before the prices dropped.

I've always co-slept with my lot. Ds1 is 21 so I was doing it before it became trendy Wink. She's normally very good and rarely wakes up, but it seemed such a good idea last night as I was exhausted...... Really struggling with the whole tiredness thing, can't wait to "bloom"!

eve34 · 06/06/2011 20:09

Evening all, hope we have all had a good day.

Thank you all for the kind words, I really don't know what to do for the best about the test. When I had DS I was determind that I wouldn't test as it made no differrence to me. We weren't offered it so didn't come up. This time because I am older it is playing on my mind more.

Seven = your weekend sounds like good fun, just rest up when you can.

Goodnightmoon - sure it will come together, it always does but does sound very stressful for you all. Hope it doesn't take to long to sort out a new place for you all.

HIHP - I have got into the routine when DP is away DS can keep the bed warm for me. Was cute when it started but he is to big now. Love to wake up with him though so worth it. Sure by the time he gets to about ten he won't want to cuddle up with his old mum. I am also in Hampshire not a bad part of the world :-)

Will report back tomorrow after the scan. bit nervous now.

aethelfleda · 06/06/2011 21:00

Blimey, I hope someone gets to bloom soon, cos it's not going to be me!

Dinner as I type = tin of grapefruit and a fork.

aethelfleda · 06/06/2011 21:09

oh, and Eve, we were asked about testing too (actually the Gp looked at me and said "so do you want amnio then?"- so reckon I must look older than I am!!)

We decided that non invasive, no-risk tests give us information so are worth it (the nuchal scan neck skin thing plus age) and local policy is they offer a blood test if you are high risk, and if THAT increases your risk you can choose an amnio to find out for certain. (we wouldnt do amnio as we wouldn't terminate for down's and wouldnt want to risk a healthy baby). But the scan alone is harmless. If it would be reassuring fpr someone to say "yep, nice thin neckfold there", then go for it.

eve34 · 06/06/2011 22:03

Aethelfleda - grapefruit is far to healthy. I had two chelsea buns :-) thank you for the input, fingers crossed nothing will cause any concern. Will see what tomorrow bring and wait for DP to come home and see what we want to do.

Really must go to bed, early start for me tomorrow at least it is 9am so don't have to worry all day.
