is anyone else feeling a little left out by the first-timers due in December thread? This will be my second DC (DS will be 3.5). I think I'm due on 15th December.

Hi all, my son Jacob was born 7/12/11 it is sooo true that they say 2nd labours are better!! With dd it was 36hours, stayed stuck at 6cm 17hours, retained placenta, theatre removal, blood transfusions, LOTS of stitches etc where DS labour started 12pm by 5.30 was in a bit of pain, still managed to cook tea tho lol read bed time stories to dd ( although dp having to read bits of the story as I couldn't talk through the contractions by that stage. Put dd to bed at 8pm.

Probably a bit tmi but in labour with dd the only reason I knew I was in definate labour was by when wiping after using the loo I could tell things were different down there.... So in labour with DS I 'touched' to see if anything had changed down there, I couldn't feel anything was different so refused to believe I was in labour!

Even when they got to 3min apart and crying Between contractions I was so upset that I wasn't dilating and didn't want to b 1 of those women that go into hospital crying in pain and they are only 3cm lol.
My mum ( who had come over to stay at my place while dd was sleeping) basically yelled at me to ring midwife.

Rung midwife, was told to go strait to hospital. Got to hospital 12.40am had DS 18mins later lol lucky I got there when I did or he would of been born in the car!!

No stitches, delivered placenta on my own and was home 3hours later. Dd got up in the morning to us home with her baby brother, she never knew we left :)

Pls excuse spelling mistakes, on phone while feeding DS, he's amazing but doesn't sleep much. Am surviving on 3hours sleep a night :( it's all so worth it tho!!

Somehow missed the new babies on this thread. Massive congratulations and only a little bit Envy.

Very impatient now and frustrated. Desperate to avoid another cs but feel like i'm never going into labour on my own - anyone also feel like this? Any reassurance gratefully received.

Skillbo · 18/12/2011 23:36

Congrats to all of you with new lo's - am very Envy although am due tomorrow so am hopeful it kicks off soon!

Wonderful story 2cents - love the idea of DD not even knowing you had gone! Certainly gives me hope... 18 minutes - how lucky were you Xmas Grin

Guess there will be a post natal thread somewhere so am hoping will see you all on there soon.. right off to bed so can be fully rested and prepared... YEAH RIGHT!

Congratulations 2cents! what a lovely story. I still waiting, though as an end-of monther this was always likely!.... Not even due yet, just impatient to meet my LO. I think someone should invent a) a way to remotely view the cervix so you can just KnoW how dilated you are, and some sort of countdown cooking timer to pop on the outside of your tunmy so that it has two alarms, one to tell you to go to hospital and the second one when it's time to push. Oh and an easy-access reusable uterus zip (maybe where the section scar hides in a bikini line).... Do you think i should register a patent?

DeckTheHawthersWithBells · 19/12/2011 09:16

Most definitely aethelfleda. Put my name at the top of your list and you can have all of my worldly goods.

FINALLY - thought I would have to change threads to January babies but Otis finally arrived yesterday morning at a rather healthy 9lbs! Wish I could say I had a great experience but I found it much tougher than last time, the delivery in particular. Had another forceps (after the ventouse failed) and lo had a clip on his head and it all got a bit scary towards the end. Think it has put paid to any plans on expanding the brood - until of course he gets to DD's age and I get all broody again.. Hmm

Anyways - for those of you still waiting am sending you positive thoughts and for those of us lucky enough to have met our new ones already, hope for calm nights and lots of sleep x
