is anyone else feeling a little left out by the first-timers due in December thread? This will be my second DC (DS will be 3.5). I think I'm due on 15th December.

Hi Ladies,

Been away for the weekend, thanks for the good wishes, not sure if exciting is the word for it, im bricking myself. Still get to see my babies again at 16 weeks for a growth scan so only 2 weeks to wait.

aethefleda didn't have any inkling at all, did feel bigger than my previous two pregnancies but put that down to eating too much in the early weeks.

Dollys nice to hear from you, so sad to hear the news though. Enjoy your holiday and make sure you get spoilt rotten.

Eve hope your scan goes well tomorrow, the nucal was offered as standard here (south London) nothing to worry about.

seven blimey you have a very full weekend coming up, hope all goes well for you, don't overdo it.

goodnight & HIHP Hope your scans go okay on Friday & you hope you sort out your houses soon, must be a worry.

sevendwarves · 07/06/2011 10:40

Just realised I'm too late to wish you luck for your scan eve but I hope it all went well.

Arg my house is a complete and total pit!!!

Eve, hope it all went well for you xxx

And regarding the grapefruit- it was an unusual lapse! sadly my diet mostly consists of cream cheese bagels, toast , salt and vinegar crisps and the occasional pickled herring. I branched out with pasta pesto yesterday but I always find fruit/fibre really difficult with the MS. Carb-tastic, me.

Mmmmcheese · 07/06/2011 11:38

I'm finding vegetables really hard as well, the only healthy thing I'm having is fruit juice and its so full of sugar I'm not sure how healthy it is! Salt and vinegar crisps are the only thing to settle my stomach at the moment.

I thought morning sickness wouldbe getting better at 11 weeks?

harassedinherpants · 07/06/2011 11:51

Eve hope it's all gone well x

I'm craving fruit! I was the same with dd. Don't think for one second though that my diet is all healthy as I'm craving curry, Orangina, raisin and cinnamon bagels, pickled onion monster munch and marmite cheese. I just have to eat to stop the sickness!

Mmmmm I'm 11+1 now and it's not quite as bad as it was. I have the odd spell of feeling ok, but generally it's still quite bad! I'm expecting it to magically stop at 12 weeks, but it didn't with dd....

eve34 · 07/06/2011 12:39

Afternoon all,

Sadly it wasn't good news. It is just one of those things. I count my blessings to have my son.
Bless Dp he has dropped everything and is waiting for a flight home.
Although very sad, these things happen and we have to look forward.
i wish all you lovely ladies well and hope that those bundles bring you much love and happiness. x x

No excuses not to get back to the damn diet :-)

sevendwarves · 07/06/2011 12:54

eve I'm so so sorry. Take care of yourself and I hope your DP makes it home very soon. xxx

Oh eve I'm so very sorry. I hope dh gets back soon, must be even harder without him. Do you have lots of help and support around you? Thinking of you lovely xx

aethelfleda · 07/06/2011 16:11

Oh no, what a shame. Very sorry to hear your news Eve and thank you for your support on here too.
(((hug)))
Hope Dp has a quick journey home.

nochy · 07/06/2011 16:46

I've just read this thread as i wanted to introduce myself but really want to say how sorry i am to Dollys and eve. Very upsetting and i hope you are OK.

I'm due on 31st, my surprise 3rd. I have a DD 5yo, and a 7mo. I had a scan last week to hear a heartbeat and have the NT in 10 days.

Anyway cyber hugs to you ladies and a hello to everyone.

aethelfleda · 07/06/2011 18:06

Hi nochy, what a nice surprise though! We had the opposite- 3 years of DH saying "I'd love a third but I'm so tired there's no WAY we're doing it"...

One swift about turn earlier in the year and here we are (well, so far, anyway...)

Oh, and mmmcheese, I found with both my DDs that the MS only picked up about week 14-15, still mild nausea after that, but waaaay better.
Apparently its getting to the second trimester that really improves it. So hang in there and hopefully soon!....

babychoochoo · 07/06/2011 20:27

eve so sorry to hear your news, hope your bearing up and your DP has made it home to give you some much needed cuddles.
Take care xx

Hi nochy congrats and welcome

eve34 · 07/06/2011 21:43

Thank you ladies for your kind words. DP is home now and taking very good care of me. D and C booked for friday. Need to get through that and look ahead.
I really do wish you all a safe and happy pg and look forward to chatting again in the future.

sevendwarves · 07/06/2011 21:56

Hi nochy, congratulations.

eve glad that your DP is home, take care xx

eve, glad to hear your DP is back with you and giving you some tlc. Shitty, shitty times. xx

goodnightmoon · 08/06/2011 10:00

Eve - I'm really sorry. i hope it all goes smoothly Friday and best wishes for future.

angelene · 08/06/2011 21:49

Eve - I'm so sorry to hear your news, glad dp is back for you now.

I called the midwife today because I was sick of waiting for a scan date, and it's not until 22nd, when I'll be over 13w. Really not sure how I can keep quiet until then, I've definitely 'popped' and someone is bound to twig.

Oh well, not much I can do about it.

harassedinherpants · 09/06/2011 09:30

eve I'm glad dp is home and taking care of you. It's a weird limbo type of time isn't it. I have to say that I found the actual procedure the easiest bit in the whole saga, I hope it's the same for you. Just to warn you, your hormones may crash 2-3 days after the procedure. Nobody told me that, and that was the worst day for me. Mine was in January. Take care of yourself, thinking of you xx

nochy hello!! What a lovely surpise!

angelene is it worth phoning the scan department and seeing if they can bring it forward? Otherwise, what about a private scan?

My scan is tomorrow and I'm mentalling big time. It's not until 2.55pm and I'm worried that if it's bad news I'm going to be left in limbo until Monday as I know the epu isn't open for non-emergencies over the weekend. I have tomorrow booked off as we also have Sky coming in the morning to finally install the internet, but wish I'd booked today off too. I don't think I'm going to be much help to anyone!!

aethelfleda · 09/06/2011 13:44

Good luck for tomorrow harrassed!

I had my booking in today, all straightforward though the poor midwife was being heckled every 5 minutes by the office which was no fun for her. Had to get on the dreaded scales and gulped at the result (what happened to baby being the size of a chicken nugget?! I look like I've eaten an entire bargain bucket of KFC!) But still have a BMI under 30 (just) so didn't get the dreaded "obese mother" tickybox!

Hope you're all doing OK ladies.

purpleflower123 · 09/06/2011 15:14

Hi all, sorry I haven't been around much.

I'm so sorry to hear of the losses :( Please take care of yourselves.

I had my scan monday, I'm now 12+4. I was scanned for ages as the baby really didn't want to get in the right position for the nuchal, I even got sent to eat chocolate and have a walk. We got there in the end. I'm quite disapointed though, after around half an hour of being scanned on a brand new machine I got 3 pictures, taken seperately, that you can't even make out the baby :( We saw the signs that the hospital is now offering 3D scans but if thats the new machine to do it I'll go elsewhere!

So my due date is now 18/12 which is great but I went 7 days over with my other 2 which leaves us with christmas day! hopefully I will still get my homebirth then, DD was born at home and it was lovely, I really don't want a hospital birth again.

Babychoochoo, congrats on the twins, that must've been a shock!

Eve, I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. I had a D&C 5 years ago, It was very straight forward and no where near as bad as I thought it would be, take good care of yourself after though ((hugs))

sevendwarves · 09/06/2011 15:37

harassed good luck for the scan tomorrow.

purple glad the scan was all ok but what a shame you didn't get a good picture. I guess the scan pictures just vary massively. I had my scan with DS at 12 weeks, he looked like an upside down car and looking at it now I can't even tell which end is his head. With this baby I was scanned at 11 weeks, you can clearly see the head and legs and can even see the nose!

OP posts:
purpleflower123 · 09/06/2011 16:27

The pics with DS and DD were brilliant, done at the same hospital but obv with the old machines.

The most annoying part was having to pay £5 per picture Shock

aethelfleda · 09/06/2011 18:29

£5 per picture?!?! What are they, a photographic studio?!

It's a bit like the annoying school pic when they send home a proof of your DC looking bosseyed, hair stuck all over the place, one shoulder out of shot, and wonky shirt, and you know DC will be gutted if you don't buy one...

goodnightmoon · 09/06/2011 22:16

harassed - good luck tomorrow! mine's at 3:30. tomorrow is my day with DS so we'll have to take him with us. No idea how that will work. i'm popping so i think there has to still be something going on in there, now i'm more worried about my test results.

goodnightmoon · 10/06/2011 21:21

just reporting back - my scan all went well. they moved my dates up by 6 days to a Dec. 18 due date, which seems odd since i know my period dates for sure, but i suppose ovulation could have happened super early. They gave me Down's risk of 1:1,000 and something, so I guess we will not have any further tests. Amazingly we also had an offer accepted on a house today so things are looking good.
hope everyone else is doing well.
