No sign of any baby action. But since this is our first, I guess it's not unusual for the baby to be late. Been for a walk, am thinking curry for dinner and then maybe, you know, nudge-nudge wink-wink...

I heard 7 pineaplles!

either way its way too many, I ate half and my mouth hurt!

funnylittlekaty · 06/05/2011 17:55

Have given in. Am defeated. Am going to bed to read my book. Harrumph x

Milkybrew · 06/05/2011 18:21

It seems really quiet on this thread today!

Well my sweep hasn't done alot-few little niggles but that's about it. No show. No contractions. I did however perhaps just involuntarily wet myself, or maybe my waters have started going, I'm not sure! Just waiting to see. I had my waters broken last time so it was just a huge gush. Does it gush if they break naturally, as this was more of a trickle that I had no control over!? Seemed to coincide with baby making a big movement. Sorry if this is TMI!

Leilababyno1 · 06/05/2011 18:43

Hey guys,

How exciting that babies have started to arrive- Congratulations!

I had my second sweep this morning at 40+6, first one two days ago was a failure. However, MW was very surprised today to find that in 48 hours my cervix has gone from firm to soft and from closed to 2cm dilated! Had a little bleeding after, and had a nap when I got home.

Sorry if TMI but just been to the toilet and had a massive show, so really hoping that this means baby will be on it's way either tonight or tomorrow- fingers crossed!

Milkybrew- keep positive, sounds like your cervix is favourable so the sweep might get things going for you.

Gonna have a nice glass of vino now and some dinner, just in case it's my last meal for a while- here's hoping!

cowboylover · 06/05/2011 19:36

Congratulations yoey

I heard 7 pineapples as well but that included skin too. I always find I get a sore tongue from them so maybe leave that out. I maybe using the curry excuse again soon tho as it was really nice out last night.

The BH seam to start earlier everyday so fingers crossed it's a good thing to start with it was 1am but today 3pm so I hope she doesn't make me wait till I wake up with them in the morning as at this rate it will be another month!

Having a good shout at the rugby tonight so hope that does some good Smile

bringmesunshine2009 · 06/05/2011 19:43

Congrats ladies with babies! Am so peed off. No baby, MW wouldn't do sweep(WTF!) booked for induction not until FRIDAY NEXT WEEK. Feel nr suicidal now as was really upbeat. Now after thinking positive that birth was round the corner I feel like it may as well be next year. Pffffff.

Good luck one and all xx

Milkybrew · 06/05/2011 20:26

Bringmesunshine- why did midwife refuse a sweep? There seems to be a sweep lottery! If it makes you feel any better I was told today that my induction would also not be until next Friday. Seems like an eternity! I'm trying to stay positive and think that she could be here way before then! Don't fancy an induction on Friday the 13th, but then I'm silly and superstitious! I've had visions of being the only one left on this thread, as these babys have certainly started popping!

TotorosOcarina · 07/05/2011 09:08

any news anyone? zilch here.

ilovesprouts · 07/05/2011 09:12

.

Milkybrew · 07/05/2011 09:26

Hi ladies, sorry nothing going on for you totoros. Well my sweep has brought about a show, with some very uncomfortable pains last night. But this morning it's all quiet. I wonder if it's the calm before the storm-my body having a bit of a rest before labour begins! Or maybe I'm just dillusional!
Anyone else got any more positive news?

funnylittlekaty · 07/05/2011 09:38

Nope. Nothing. No show, no twinges, no nothing. Nada, nowt, zero. Apparently the change in the weather should have set us off but it's pissing down outside and I am still the size of a house. Hope you're having more success than I am. Did you see Emma bunton's had hers? Queue jumper.

Milkybrew · 07/05/2011 11:35

Having a few pains now, nothing unbearable though. Had a bit of a pamper session this morning, just to pass the time really! All smooth and moisturised now! It's not raining here, hot and humid. Maybe the rise in pressure will set things off?! Wishful thinking!
I'm sure both Holly willoughby and Emma bunton were due after me-it's not fair!
I'm getting worried now that the longer she stays put, the bigger she's getting! Midwife said yesterday she certainly isnt 6lbs and started talking about recent 11lbs baby! My last was 9lbs and that was big enough!

bringmesunshine2009 · 07/05/2011 11:39

MB I hear you. DS1 was 9lb at 40 weeks. Am measuring 43 (OMG) am expecting 10lber. DH was 13lb!!!

No reason for refusing sweep other than didn't think health centre was appropriate setting. Will call other midwife on Monday and ask her.

Friday is forever away. No sign of much. A little more clear show but nothing to write home about. Pff EB had her bloody baby too? And Mariah? Crap they were so due after me. Posh will be next then I will be seriously peed off!

Milkybrew · 07/05/2011 11:56

Bringmesunshine- 13lbs! Oh my god! I had a growth scan at 34 weeks, which put her at 8lbs at term-plenty big enough! Mind you when I was measured yesterday I had gone down to 39 but this is due to her being really engaged! Her limbs seem really long! At this rate none of the first size clothes will get a look in!

Have you heard what mariah called her twins?!

I fail to see how a health centre isn't an appropriate setting for a sweep?! I'm assuming there are private rooms! What a cop out! Id be annoyed too.

cowboylover · 07/05/2011 15:04

So many celeb Q jumpers; they will be back in heels and skinny jeans and I will still be pregnant at this rate!

They don't do the sweeps at our health centre as MW gets 15 mins with each person and only there one afternoon a week (not sure how long it would take or she would need?!) so we go to the day assessment unit in the hospital, just have to ring and if they are not packed you can go and they will see you every 48hrs if needed.

DH has decided that he wants her to arrive on the 17th as fits in the best with work and he won't have to go straight into a black of night shifts and gets longer off work.

TotorosOcarina · 07/05/2011 16:07

Hows it going Milky? any more pains?

cowboy DH reckons they all pay to be induced early Wink

We have our midwife appointments at the surestart centre and its 15 min appointments and in a little room they use for coffee mornings and the midwife does sweeps there! they have venetian blinds on the big windows but there tiny windows at the top that are uncovered! Shock so i always hope no one is peeking through from houses behind Grin

The 17th? what day are you on today?

by MY gestation little one is 5 days late now.

By theirs im 39+5 and DD was born at 39+5 and DS on 40 weeks exactly, so reallyyyy something should be happening either way now!

Milkybrew · 07/05/2011 16:31

Hi totoros, not much going on but thanks for asking! Just sort of period cramps and pressure, no real take my breath away pains!

Been busying myself in what will be babys room, sorting out clothes and bedding. Made up the Moses basket and pram! Hoping that might coax her out! Should really have stood and done my ironing but never mind!

I'm guess I'm lucky as the midwife came for a home visit to do my sweep, although my next one on Monday I will have at the hospital at my 41 week check. Never thought I'd make it that far but now I'm not so sure!

It's so nice to have this thread and chat to others in the same position, think I'd be driving myself mad otherwise!

One of us has to go into labour soon!

funnylittlekaty · 07/05/2011 19:03

Today's activity...have a hair cut and bake a cake. Least I'll have nice hair to greet this baby when it finally arrives. I can't believe I've had no signs at all. I never thought I'd be so keen to have blood and gunk on the toilet paper. 40+6 today. Bloody hell x

TotorosOcarina · 07/05/2011 19:27

pmsl at gunky loo roll, every time i wipe im hoping for blood Confused

my belly is rock hard tonight, having loads of BHs, not too painful but just makes my belly like a giant boiled egg!

Milkybrew · 07/05/2011 19:38

Does anyone know how long the show lasts? Just I had first bit yesterday afternoon, it continued overnight and this morning but has now stopped I think! I should remember from last time but I just don't!

As usual I've started having pains now it's the evening, don't think for a second labour is starting though because I'm fed up of getting my hopes up only for everything to stop a couple of hours later!

TotorosOcarina · 07/05/2011 19:48

I first started having a show last wednesday, so been 10 days here!

Milkybrew · 07/05/2011 20:06

Oh! Maybe mines not the real thing then! Damn! See last time I thought I had the show, had upset tummy and contractions started that night. Well now I had the show yesterday, have had upset tummy today but no real flipping contractions! I give up trying to work out what's going on!

yoey · 07/05/2011 20:28

Come on girls! You are the only thing taking my mind off my poor sore bottom & boobs. I'm floating through the hours obsessing about these late babies! You have to get a move on before my toddler returns from in-laws & my life explodes. Thinking of you all. I keep forgetting to say congratulations to reallypissedoff- congratulations!

bringmesunshine2009 · 07/05/2011 20:49

I know, Morrocan?! Wtf! Still less than nothing happening here. Am just so very very huge. Still cheesed about the sweep. She so could've done it. Am calling Monday to assert myself. Sleeping is a challenge now. Have little flurries of nesting activity but am then knackered and can't be bothered to clean. Plans for tomorrow? My sister is here for the morning, which is nice and diverting. After that just at home. Clear up and do some washing. Cook something. Wow fun. Today a friend said "you're only 6 days over" ONLY??!! Monday, meeting another friend who is due tomorrow. Bet her baby is out before mine. Is 30 min drive away. Hope am not taking a risk by doing that. In London so not exactly driving at speed. Tuesday, no plans, get eyelashes tinted perhaps?! Wednesday, nothing, Thursday, nothing, Friday, hospital at last.

Milkybrew · 07/05/2011 20:50

I'm fed up now. I've lasted this long without letting it get to me but tomorrow I'm 41 weeks. And to make things worse my whole family are at my aunts wedding, sending me pictures and texts, and I'm stuck like a beached whale on the sofa eating toast! Come on babys!
