No sign of any baby action. But since this is our first, I guess it's not unusual for the baby to be late. Been for a walk, am thinking curry for dinner and then maybe, you know, nudge-nudge wink-wink...

Well done bringmesunshine! 10lb 2oz! I remember last week us discussing the expected weights of our babies and your 13lb DH! I am amazed! Sorry you didn't have the easiest of times though. Congratulations X

StiffyByng · 12/05/2011 21:40

Wow! Congratulations on all the babies! You're amazing.

41+2 here. No signs of labour. Jumped by yet another NCT classmate, who gave birth less than 12 hours after I last saw her, before her due date.

I'm afraid that, plus yet another plethora of endless suggestions to eat pineapple, put me into total meltdown. I feel my body is a failure and I'm matching inescapably towards induction and a c section. I so wanted to give birth naturally. I don't think I've ever wanted something so much or cried so hard.

Milkybrew · 13/05/2011 08:28

Oh stiffybyng! I really feel for you, I felt exactly the same the end of last week. After a traumatic first birth all I wanted was a natural birth yet I felt myself edging closer to induction and couldn't understand why the heck my body wasn't doing things properly. But at 41+1 I was all of a sudden in labour! So it does just happen and I got to have the natural birth I wanted. If you look through this thread its hugely clear that lots of babies are born in the 41st week so don't give up! Have you got a birthing ball? If so bounce as much as you can, the midwives said it really helps to bring the head down and put pressure on cervix. Chin up, I'm sure it won't be long now.

StiffyByng · 13/05/2011 18:49

I hope so, milky! Fourth sweep today, this one with the consultant. She said her sweeps really work... But I'm still only 2cms and not effaced. Still, I have been for a walk, and sniffed a baby, and will spend the evening on the ball, and see if this weekend can't be the one.

Milkybrew · 13/05/2011 20:25

Hi stiffybyng! Really hope this sweep works for you! If it's any consolation when I had mine I was only 1cm dilated but it got things moving! Is it your first baby? When is your induction booked for?
Really feel for you as our lovely thread has gone so quiet what with all the arrivals, but I'll keep checking back for your imminent baby news! :)

StiffyByng · 13/05/2011 20:49

I know. Everyone else has had their babies and it's just me left... Although maybe new overdue people will appear and carry on!

Thank you. Yes, it's my first baby. But I think I'm sweep-proof - I was 1cm over a week ago, four whole sweeps ago. I was so excited a couple of days ago when things seemed to be starting but they all settled down again.

Milkybrew · 14/05/2011 09:36

Morning stiffybyng! Hows it going today? Fingers crossed it won't be long now! Get plenty of rest now, once baby is here you'll end up like a zombie like me! Been up all night feeding!

Got visitors all day today but I'll check back later! Come on babybyng!

Bubandbump · 14/05/2011 10:32

Stiffybyng - I am here! 40+5 and I can bet that now I have an induction booked for next Sunday, baby will come on Saturday night. It has a history of doing this...

Looong walk in the park scheduled for me today but patience isn't my strong point!

Had the baby monitored yesterday due to reduced movements and they commented that it seems a very contented baby.. Hmmph it's parents are't!!

cowboylover · 14/05/2011 13:25

Styffy I hope your well and maybe in labour somewhere after your sweep!
Your body is most definatly not a failure in any form as its been doing so well growing LO for all this time.
If you do need an induction (and there is still time you won't) you can still have a positive experience and avoid a c-section.
I read some really positive stories on a thread which I can't link for you as on my phone but worth a search.

Bub After not moving for the day on Tuesday mine then started kicking the monitor! Typical - and the MW was telling me that they will have the same personality traits when they are born so will be interesting!
Glad its all ok now tho for you.

After being told to expect an early baby due to my condition I can't believe I am here now at 39+6! Was not prepared mentally for this at all!

I am now on day 2 of BH/CTx that are every 5 mins and won't go away Hmm
Never thought I would want to be in more pain but at least that would mean I'm getting somewhere. After seeing her face and wanting to meet her so much on the scan yesterday I just want to have her here! Arg!
Trying to be rational and say that its a max of 2 weeks away now.

Marwoir · 14/05/2011 19:25

Mind if I join?
I'm only 40+1, but I've had a nasty case of PUPPP for the last week, so having been very calm about the possibility of a late arrival, I just can't wait to get cracking so I'm not desperate to scratch all my skin off every minute of the day. But still, only one day over. So I really shouldn't complain. Trying to stay positive and remind myself that this is golden opportunity to read books and lounge about before new life of daunting responsibility, but it doesn't help the itching!
Have loved reading this thread and congratulations to all the graduates!

bringmesunshine2009 · 15/05/2011 11:51

SB, I hope your baby is here! This is why you are quiet lol.

Am ex-hausted. DS2 wakes up at 11pm and parties until 4am every night.

DS1 wakes up at 6am. That's 2 hours sleep a day for me then!

DS1 refuses to acknowledge the baby and is beng VERY naughty to get attention.

Everyone waiting-good luck!

Milkybrew · 16/05/2011 07:59

bringmesunshine Your post made me laugh! I too have a little partying baby! She's generally most awake from 1am to 4am! Last night was a bit better, only awake until 2.30 but then back up at 3.30! How old is your DS1? Thankfully my DS has really taken to his sister which I am pleased about as there's a big age gap so he is very used to being the only one around here!
I hope stiffy comes back with baby news soon.

stiffy thinking of you!

jessi0343 · 16/05/2011 11:08

Mind if I join the group?? am due today.... and no sign of baby yet... bouncing on birth ball all day!!

cowboylover · 16/05/2011 12:46

Bringsunshine; did you find that was her movement patterns before she was born as well? MW was saying something about it the other day and if its true I think we will have a night owl as well!

Hiya Jessie! Is this your first baby? I am 40+1 now and very over excited to meet my 1st and expecting a girl.

DH has a theory that she will be like me with my notorously bad time keeping and arrive just as he's getting pissed off worried where I am as if nothing had happened.

Leilababyno1 · 16/05/2011 13:33

Well, after induction at +12 days and a very tough labour- Isla Gigi was born on the 13th May, weighing 8lbs 12oz.

She is just gorgous and feeding all the time! Sleepless nights are very hard but all all worth it.

Congratulations to all the ladies who have popped, and good-luck to all the others who are yet to!

This thread was a great support- thank ladies!

X

Milkybrew · 16/05/2011 14:11

Just popped back to say congratulations leila! Love the name Isla! Enjoy her! x

jessi0343 · 16/05/2011 16:07

Congrats Lelia! Love the name Isla, too cute!

Cowboylover, this is also my first, and am so eager as well to meet the little one (the gender is a surprise!)

Have received SOO many emails/txts/calls today asking "so?? has it happened??" lol... I'm trying to remain as patient as possible!
