mopsytop try not to worry too much, i know its hard... has he given you anything for the gastro infection?

mopsytop · 17/06/2011 13:02

No he said he didn't want to give me anti-biotics unless he had to, just to go to bed, drink a lot of cranberry and water and not eat anything or else only very plain stuff. It's so hard not to worry, esp when you feel they didn't take it very seriously. But maybe he didn't because it's not. Ugh. Hard to relax. I suppose I should try though, not good for the bean to be stressing.

That worrying me too, as i went to the docs yesterday with feeling like i needed the toilet all the time, pain in my lower groin, shakes and dizziness, they tested my wee and said there was no trace of a uti... but gave me antibiotics anyway "just in case"!!

Gps are useless, i asked about changing hospitals and if she could transfer me, and they replied saying i need to ask my midwife as they have all my notes... i have no idea who my midwife is or how to contact them, i saw them once for my booking in app, nothing since, i dont have a 16 week app witht hem, as i see a consultant next week (i will be 15 weeks) and they said "the nhs is stretched, this can be your 16 week ap)

So now i am left very baffled!

mopsytop · 17/06/2011 13:09

ugh. I wish we didn't have to worry all the time. If I was not pregnant I wouldn't be worried at all if I had a gastro. It's just, what if he's wrong?!

OP posts:
kri5ty · 17/06/2011 13:11

See how you feel tomorrow, if you are not happy with what he says you can always get a second opinion, have you got your midwives number? I would prob ring them, and not mention the docs lol xxx

OiMissus · 17/06/2011 13:15

I'd try not to worry. Easier said than done, I know. Do you have a midwife Mopsytop? My community midwife told me that if I had any worries that I should call her. - She has a different focus than your doctor - Perhaps to ease your fears, you should call her (or your local ante-natal department?)? If she believes there is any cause for concern, she'll get you in.

But don't worry - the doc's probably right. :)

mopsytop · 17/06/2011 13:16

The midwife was the one who told me to go to GP - she said he would give me a thorough check up. Humph. I think maybe I am overreacting and need to just go and lie down and drink lots like he said. It's just pains in the lower abdomen are worrying. But maybe I should just chill. If it gets worse I can always ring the midwives again.

OP posts:
kri5ty · 17/06/2011 13:18

yeh , see how you get on, and go back tot he gps...just say it has got worse etc, he will have to check you more thouroghly then x

god typing is shocking sorry!

mopsytop · 17/06/2011 13:21

Yeah it is probably exactly what he says and I am overreacting. I mean I was wondering if it was womb pains or bowel pains this morning before the midwife rang. It's all the same general area isn't it! If only I could be a calm, sensible mother-to-be instead of a worried, panicky one.

OP posts:
mopsytop · 17/06/2011 13:22

p.s. are you taking the anti-biotics krit5y - do you feel better today?

OP posts:
mopsytop · 17/06/2011 13:22

also, does anyone else feel like being pregnant has made them a hypochondriac? Always worrying now and normally not a worrier about my health at all.

Has anyone felt a movement yet? I think I just did but its still tiny so doubt it could have been really.

Felicific · 17/06/2011 17:13

Hope you're feeling better mopsytop and are resting. I worry at any twinge that feels like a stitch. At least the doc has given a clear diagnosis, suppose you'll have to try hard to trust him and see how you feel over next day or two - flush out the bugs!

Scan went well, thank you all for your kind well wishes.

I have a reverted/tilted uterus which makes seeing baby difficult. Took about half an hour of scans in and out with me jumping up and down and shaking to wake baby up before the sonographer could measure neck fluid! Quite cool seeing it really active and then clearly fall asleep - aaahhh. Results great though so been sending out pic to everyone :)

Littlepic · 17/06/2011 17:19

Just had my 12 week scan. All went well. Baby was very active waving arms and kicking legs. Hopefully now I will feel a lot less stressed and will be able to relax and enjoy my pregnancy.

EDD is 23rd December!!!!!

Glad you scan went well Felicific

newartriotstar · 17/06/2011 22:42

I had my scan today too! Baby would not stay still for the whole thing and seemed to be dancing and then hiding from the scanning thing! We're very excited now and have told all close friends. My due date has changed from 23rd of December to the 27th. Glad everyone else who was scanned today had good news too!

pregnantmimi · 18/06/2011 09:45

felt movement like a butterfly my mum said its the baby moving on the scan could see the babies legs moving around alot think its that caue in the same place!! Im 13 weeks

poorbutrich · 18/06/2011 15:50

I am coming up to 14 weeks with my first little one! Very exciting to read about other people in the same boat!

Good luck everyone!

lotsoflovelyness · 18/06/2011 15:51

Hi all,

This is my first time posting. I recently found out that I was pregnant with my first. I had my scan on Tuesday and all went well. Baby was waving and body popping all over the place. We even got a pic of 'him' doing a handstand.

My due date has changed from 26th December to 23rd December. And I was told that I have a 4cm fibroid on the outside of my womb, had a lil look on google and scared myself silly so won't be doing that again.

Me and OH both think we're having a boy and are not going to find out.

Nice to hear everyone's news so I thought I would give you all of mine.

I still find it really hard to believe that I am actually pregnant but am elated at our lil surprise bun :)

kri5ty · 18/06/2011 18:41

Aww congrats lotsoflovelyness! :)

Mopsy I have been taking them and actually do feel better.. and yup pregnancy has turned me in to a worrying wreck... I had phumonia last year... however you spell it, and my oh literally dragged me to the docs coz I just always think 'i'll be fine' but now I panic over the smallest thing x

kri5ty · 19/06/2011 15:22

Erm I think I can feel movement... is it too early?? Anyone else?
It kind of feels like lots of bubbles inside like gas... but no gas escaping lol

It's a strange feeling, but wonderful to think its nugget having a boogie :o x x

mopsytop · 20/06/2011 14:43

Don't think I can feel movement yet. Can't wait though!

It was just a tummy upset. I feel okay again now, I had a dodgy tum for about 3 days. Need to stop panicking!!!

I bought some maternity trousers at the w/e. Mine were all digging in and I didn't want to have to buy in-between clothes, if you see what I mean, so I got 2 pairs maternity jeans, one under bump with side panels and one over bump. They are really comfy and look fine. I hope they see me through now! Got them in Mamas and Papas. Didn't know they did maternity wear but it's really good.

OP posts:
kri5ty · 20/06/2011 14:52

Aww glad to hear it Mopsy :) ... Panicking is all part of being a first time patent... we should get used to it Haha

I'm with you on the maternity clothes! O have some skinny over the bump jeans from Asda... I love them, a little baggy on the thighs atm but I'm sure I'll soon fill them! I may pop in to mammas and pappas and have a nosey at some more hehe

mopsytop · 20/06/2011 15:02

Yeah I got some lovely slim (not quite skinny but still very narrow leg, nice under tunics) black jeans there in really soft denim (under the bump but as I plan to only wear them with tunics, that's okay - my arse is a bit podge to be wearing them with short tops!!) and a pair of over the bump boyfriend jeans which are great. Obvs the bump panel is sagging as not much bump, only a bit of podge, to fill it at the mo, but they are a great fit otherwise.

OP posts:
kri5ty · 20/06/2011 15:08

I have been folding my band over my hips as otherwise it sags... I bought some maternity bras from m&ps actually in the sale, they aren't the prettiest, but I have never had such a well fitting bra before! Possibly as I had never been measured before, but in the right size one they look bigger! Even though they haven't grown, And I love it lol

mopsytop · 20/06/2011 15:20

Mine have grown from a B to a DD. I don't love it at all! Big boobs are a right pain when you're not used to them, e.g. when running about! And they give you that armpit flab! Not to mention hardly any of my old tops fit. I hope I go back to my nice pert B cups after the bean arrives. Although, apparently (esp. if you breastfeed, which I intend to try) you never get them back the way they were!! Another lovely legacy of pregnancy along with stretch marks and saggy tummy!!!!
