First message on Mumsnet. Have been for first scan which was amazing. Was 10 weeks so going back on Monday for a 12+2 week scan so they can do the downs test. Still anxious that all will be ok but I guess pregnancy makes you paranoid. My due date is Christmas Eve!!!

CandyS · 09/06/2011 11:25

Congrats Sazzer, and welcome & congrats Scotabroad!

Just had ultrasound....all normal (very lazy foetus!). Is it just me or are ultrasound pictures a bit shit? Didn't want to get one, but DH insisted.
At least we can look at buying a little something every month & not panic so much about mc.

My due date has changed to the 22nd from the 20th.

figgygal · 09/06/2011 13:09

Hello All all the scans must be happening soon very excited for all!!

Now that it has been a week and a bit since my 12 wk scan and everyone knows just feel like time has stopped and it is going to be such a long 6 months. Was up until midnight with DH last night talking names and looking at the babies r us catalogue just cant help ourselves even though am only 14 weeks tomorrow. I am convinced it is going to be a boy (i have always wanted a girl but just have a feeling) he thinks it is going to be a girl (and wants a boy) all the names we came up with were for girls and he came up with one he liked so much he says he almost wishes it was a girl (fingers crossed).

Got my 16 weeks appointment booked in, a session on posture and back pain at the start of July and just waiting for the 20 wk scan date to come through. Not heard from the hospital about the results of the NT blood tests yet am assuming that is a good thing as they said would be in contact within 3-4 days if they had concerns.

I almost forget i am pg sometimes i cant be the only one??

think i am going to have to look for new clothes in next week or so am living in skirts or dresses at moment my trousers are no longer happy with me.

Im rambling because it is lunchtime!!

newartriotstar · 09/06/2011 17:10

I keep forgetting I'm pregnant too. Then I remember and get a bit shocked all over again!

kri5ty · 09/06/2011 18:35

Nope figgy I forgets too!! Also I wanted a girl... but keep referring to nugget as 'he' so now I have got used to the idea and don't mind what! I think we have our names too :)

I know its early, but we were talking and said we might not buy nugget a Christmas pressy... maybe just a keepsake and a couple of small things... is that bad??

Littlepic · 09/06/2011 20:28

Welcome Scotabroad,

I think all out little ones are going to be unhappy with birthdays so close to Christmas!!!! My original due date was also Christmas eve but has moved back to the 29th since my scan at 9 weeks.

ElleEW34 · 10/06/2011 10:57

Hi Scotabroad - im a fellow scot here! In London vs abroad though in my case.Welcome to the forum. My OH's dad is an Xmas Eve birthday. Also OH is 13th Dec and best friend 19th Dec. Now bump due 27th Dec (although scan still to confirm on Monday!). Deember is going to be an expensive month!!!!! Aaaaaarrgh! :)

mopsytop · 10/06/2011 11:07

Yeah I know - I hope the bean arrives at least a week before or after in order to have enough space to get both birthday and Christmas presents and not just joint ones, which would suck poor little thing! 3 of my siblings are December babies and it was okay for them though, as long as it's not 24, 25, or 26!

The nausea, exhaustion and headaches have not allowed me to forget I'm pregnant - but I sometimes can't really believe I am. It seems unreal to me. I can't wait for scan so it will seem more real!

nothing to say other than another Scot here from Aberdeen down in Bristol!!

Going to find it hard once baby here to go home as often both cost and holiday from work wise, might have to just decamp up there for a few weeks in mat leave, want to spend time up there with friends and family so they can share in baby too.

Scotabroad · 10/06/2011 14:27

When I called myself Scotabroad I meant anywhere not in Scotland. I am in Leeds but it feels a long way from family down here. Figgygal I know what you mean about trips back home. Although I am a lot closer than you I know I wont be able to get home as often but keep telling myself that babies are portable!!!??? Maybe I have a lot to learn?????

mopsytop · 10/06/2011 14:52

I am the same figgy and Scot - except Ireland is even more difficult as it requires flying. Although I suppose could drive/boat (but that's pretty expensive). Don't fancy much flying with a baby but I guess it's such a short flight it wouldn't be so bad. I would like to go home for a few weeks too but then that wouldn't be cool for my husband, he'd want to be with the baba too.

figgygal · 10/06/2011 18:09

I expect husband will be glad to see me and baby go he is self employed and works from home bit worried we will kill each other in house together for 6 months.

mopsytop · 10/06/2011 18:12

I have spent past 3 years living apart from my husband during the week, and only seeing each other weekend (doing PhD in a different city) and we are so looking forward to living together again, I think he'd be quite upset if I went away for a few weeks! I might go home for a week or something though, he could come for the weekend maybe, as it would be nice to have a bit of time for my parents and siblings to see the baba. And for me to have the benefit of some of my mother's wisdom (6 kids so she knows what she is doing!)

figgy, scot and mopsy. Sounds like we all have similar challenges ladies.

I can't wait to tell my Mum, just a shame it will be over the phone and that it won't be in person. I have so many questions about her pregnancy with me! It definitely makes me feel closer to her now experiencing what she went through to have me.

Some motherly wisdom would be great actually. Roll on Monday mopsy - we're nearly there!

mopsytop · 10/06/2011 23:42

Me too - similarly shame to be over the phone, but it will still be exciting! I also have so many questions - it's been quite hard waiting for scan as wanted to ask her stuff loads of times.

Only 3 more days now Elle - bit nervous, fingers crossed for a happy outcome...

My dad told me i had that pregnancy glow yesterday. Cheered me up no end. Anyone else starting to feel a bit better? I'm 14 weeks.

mopsytop · 12/06/2011 11:00

Apart from the awful headaches, I am feeling better - nausea is more or less gone, and the exhaustion is also totally calming down. It's so nice not to feel sick all the time! And my hair is in great condition. I am not loving my massive boobs though.

Scan today! Hope it all goes okay - bit nervous about it. But excited too.

12 & a bit weeks & NONE of my pre-pregnancy tshirts/tops fit. Went out in (what used to be) a baggy jumper yesterday & spent the entire day pulling it down!

Mothercare have a sale on atm, including 3 for 2 on maternity wear but everything they sell looks awful!

Awomancalledhorse · 13/06/2011 12:12

Mopsytop Good luck at the scan!

kri5ty · 13/06/2011 12:53

Awomancalledhorse had the same problem, and agree with mothercare!

I have just got a few bits from asda/new look/ top shop and asos websites, and i no longer feel like a frump, i actually look slimmer int he maternity stuff as it fits properly!

kri5ty · 13/06/2011 12:53

mopsytop good luck :o xxx

mopsytop · 13/06/2011 16:30

Hi everyone, well it all went fine - phew! The baby was waving its little arms about. It was all curled up but then moved about a bit. So cute! Must admit to having a little blub!

Felicific · 13/06/2011 17:29

Yay! That's fantastic news mopsytop you must be so relieved! Told brothers and sisters this weekend and all very excited. 12 week scan this fri for me, went for bloods last week. Stil do not like needles but think i'd be a little strange if I did :)

mopsytop · 13/06/2011 17:44

Yes me too - told parents and MIL and siblings - all very happy about it yay!
I am exactly 12+1 according to scan which is exactly my own dates according to my last period, so it would seem the bean is developing at exactly the right rate! I hope it comes a week early though so it doesn't hit Christmas day!
