DarciesmumandBump2 · 17/04/2011 18:46

first time I started showing at 24wks. This time as its my 2nd apparently its earlier in!

Scans at 12 wks and 20wks. Can get an earlier one too. If you get a private 3d scan between 24 & 34wks you can find out the sex too if you wanted.

I have all the mumsnet books full of useful tips and funny at the same time.
I'll try and answer any questions you have. Are you taking any vitamins?

LadyYorkshire · 17/04/2011 19:05

Hi!

We just found out I'm due in December as well!! December 20th is the EDD!! Yikes!

It's our first baby as well - we're very excited!

DarciesmumandBump2 · 17/04/2011 19:10

Congrats LadyYorkshire

mopsytop · 17/04/2011 19:18

Congrats LadyYorkshire! Thanks Darciesmum I bet I will have tons of questions! I am taking multivit plus folic acid and have been for past month. That's all though. No alcohol obvs. And trying to eat healthily and walk every day and continue doing couch25k (running 3x week but very easy, working up to 5k over 9weeks, I presume I can continue).

DarciesmumandBump2 · 17/04/2011 19:48

Running is fine just front overdo it.

BlueCrane · 17/04/2011 21:44

Evening all...hope all ok! I burst into tears on DH last night with irrational fears about it all and the changes that are going to happen to my body! have had lots of friends who've now had two DCs and are as slim if not slimmer than they were before they started and just really scared that I'll be the one who ends up putting loads of weight on...think it's just because I'd expected to lose weight coming off the pill, but put it on, so just feel v uncomfortable in all my clothes! Though i did find some comfortable stuff today which was nice and i told a close friend today and think she can lend me some clothes for work until I need mat ones which will be handy as otherwise I'll end up spending a fortune!! I'm off to docs to get everything moving with booking apps, scans etc tomorrow...all starting to feel a bit more real now...and am more chilled today despite my oh so huge and v sore boobs! Grin

mopsytop · 17/04/2011 21:56

I am actually already a bit overweight and had just started losing some, preparing for getting pregnant but GOT pregnant first try! Which is obviously fabulous and am thrilled, but SO worried I am going to be such a porker by 9 months, so I totally hear your worries. I have decided the only thing to do is to eat healthily, not give in at all to the 'eating for two' idea, and go walking every day to be in the best condition possible for a healthy baby and also, the fitter you are, the better it is for labour. Can't diet now obviously, but I think being aware of what I eat, avoiding rubbish and not drinking will have to at least make me feel healthier even as I get chubber! If you like we could start a healthy eating thread and motivate each other to avoid the temptation to pig out and eat for two now we are pregnant!

mopsytop I'm planning to go for a walk at lunchtime if I can and am going to look into aqua natal classes (once it's safe to be seen at them Wink ) might just try some gentle swimming until then! My challenges are going to be to a) make sure I keep my fluids up - am usually useless at drinking enough b) stay away from the home made cake at the work canteen (just made myself some lower fat ginger cake which I've cut into small squares so i can have one each morning at work and avoid the canteen...also thought the ginger might help with nausea if I get it!) and c) get my 5-a-day fruit and veg...have stuck a chart inside the kitchen cupboard to keep a tally! But I seem to have lost my appetite a bit at the moment so that might also help a bit Smile

DarciesmumandBump2 · 18/04/2011 08:00

I went from a size 8 pre pregnancy with Dd to a size 20 full term wasn't so much what I ate just. Carried alot of water and baby. So just s heads up on that :)

Princesskittykins · 18/04/2011 10:11

I just found out I am about 3 weeks pregnant, first midwife appointment 1st June. For the last 2 weeks I have had PMS like cramps which have moved from being in my side to the middle, my back aches, my boobs ache, I am constantly tired, sometimes a little out of breath after coming down the stairs. To top it all off today I am feeling a little sick and my sense of smell seems to have heightened! Am due late December I think although wont know for sure till my first appointment

Liska · 18/04/2011 10:21

Does anyone mind me joining even though I'm expecting my second? Just had a positive test after nearly 2 years of trying, and according to my calculations I'm due on Boxing Day! I always did have rubbish timing...

Wiwa · 18/04/2011 10:32

Hello princesskittykins and liska! Congratulations! Seems like loads of us are due in december! I wonder if the hospitals will be busy? It will be nice having you on this thread liska because you can tell us what's what. :)

Liska · 18/04/2011 10:57

I'll certainly try, but tbh it seems to me that every pregnancy and every baby is different, so I may be blundering around a bit myself! So far things are not the same as last time - I was only due today but have been feeling really nauseous for a couple of days. And I already have a nightmare of a back ache! Ah, the joys.

One thing I can say is re dating - just count off 40 weeks from the first day of your last period, and you have your due date. (If I'm wrong about that I'll be happy, as I'd rather not be in labour on Christmas Day...)

DarciesmumandBump2 · 18/04/2011 11:14

Welcome newbies.

Liska Your due the same day as me and i'm also expecting our 2nd child :)

I'm hoping this baby comes at 39wks like DD so i'm not in labour over the 3 days of xmas.

mopsytop · 18/04/2011 13:58

I would love it to come before Christmas as well!
Having period type pains again today and the urge to keep running to loo to check my knickers is overwhelming ...

hello and welcome liska and princesskittykins and congrats - also the more people to compare our symptoms with and moan to the better say I!!!

OP posts:
DarciesmumandBump2 · 18/04/2011 15:04

Mopsy I know the feeling about knicker checking lol.

Hungry but I don't know what I want and DP is driving me mad :( and breathe!

Felicific · 18/04/2011 15:10

Hi ladies, Can I join you please? I've just found out i'm 4 weeks tomorrow. Know early days but very excited and all a first for me :)

Should be due 28th Dec ish - will be great to hear your stories along the way.

mopsytop · 18/04/2011 15:12

Congrats Felicific. This might be a bit TMI but just had really bad bout of diarrohea. Worried now. Is it normal in early preg? I am prone to it anyway (IBS) especially around my period but is making me paranoid, esp as it makes 'period' pains (or the period type pains I am having) feel even worse :(

OP posts:
BlueCrane · 18/04/2011 15:21

mopsytop diarrohea can just as easily occur as constipation and ms...basically the little bean causes havoc with our digestive systems and bowels and can have either impact...if it persists then worth checking in with your doc, esp since you have IBS but otherwise I don't think it's anything to worry about.

Struggling to stay awake at my desk and my brain feels like mush...hope no-one asks me to do anything complicated or urgent this afternoon!

DarciesmumandBump2 · 18/04/2011 15:21

Mopsy Prob nothing lots of D&V bugs going around.

I have no period pains, its really not sunk it yet as not got that many symptoms iykwim.

mopsytop · 18/04/2011 15:27

Thanks guys for the advice. I have made an appointment with midwife for tomorrow 2 weeks, so if it doesn't get worse will ask her then. I am really prone to it anyway, and it always gets worse at the time of the point so I guess I shouldn't worry but it's so hard not to!

Right am going to work really hard now for 2 hours. Today has been a write off work wise. Need to cop on and get down to it. Can't spend next 8 months doing nothing just because I am UTD!!!!!!!

OP posts:
mopsytop · 18/04/2011 15:27

'at the time of the point' - I meant 'month' ! can baby brain begin this early ? :)

OP posts:
DarciesmumandBump2 · 18/04/2011 15:30

I think once everyone knows you'll be able to focus more :) I know I will focus more when everyone knows.

mopsytop · 18/04/2011 15:31

I hope so! Right that's it! No more replies from me until 17.30. See you later!

OP posts:
BlueCrane · 18/04/2011 16:02

darcies I'm v with you about the whole 'when people know' thing...I always knew it would drive me nuts and it is doing so!!

Have hardly done anything at work today Blush not good...

And yes, I seem to have baby brain already! DH has told me I've said some super daft things over the weekend! Am usually pretty sharp and organised so this is not a good sign of things to come!
