Aww mopsytop I know the wait is driving me mad! Work was pooh for me too today, reality bad back ache and up every 2 minutes to do things Haha x

figgygal · 31/05/2011 20:05

Evening all been away for the weekend had 12 week scan today all seems well saw all the limbs and strong heartbeat. Had the nuchal test so they tried to take blood after their 4th try with 2 different sized neadles almost passed out so had to lie down a minute and then they had to get it out of my hand. Did warn her of the fact I don't bleed easily but even I wasn't expecting that.

EDD changed again now 09th December going to tell everyone tomorrow I think doesn't seem need to hide it anymore.

ElleEW34 · 31/05/2011 20:37

figgy congrats on the strong heartbeat. Had a similar blood taking problem at booking appt - couldn't find a good enough vein in my case. Not looking forward to the next bloods!

mospy I think our scan is same day. You will be a little further along than me as I'm only 10 weeks today. Symptoms disappeared too...slightly worrying but focusing on the positive, at least I'm feeling better and more like my old self, can be a better girlfriend and colleague! I couldn't (well would've obviously but would've found it hard) to go 9 months feeling the way I was.

Roll on the end of this week! Thank god it's only a 4 day week!

mopsytop · 31/05/2011 20:57

Congrats Figgy Ugh re: the bloods :( but yay for healthy bean!

Elle yeah mine is Monday week. I think I will be just 13 weeks then. I think I am 11 weeks now. At least I am if you date it from last period. It's not so clear to me exactly how they date it. I have checked on different websites and they give slightly different results. My symptoms haven't disappeared though. Today was a write off re: work, I was so tired all day. Had to nap for 3 hours this afternoon. Now off to bed again. Still exhausted. Heigh ho. Fingers crossed I get back to normal levels of energy in a week or two!

p.s. figgy enjoy telling everyone! I just rang my parents and it was SO hard not to tell them! They were asking if there was anything new and I blatantly lied and said oh no life just ticking along as normal. Ha. Apart from this life changing event I didn't mention. Want to wait til after the scan though. If it doesn't go to plan I will tell them but I'd rather not get all excited with them about it just in case.

Hi everyone, hope it's okay to join in! I'm due 9 December - had my first scan yesterday, was amazing! Bino (short for Bambino as possibly conceived in Rome!) was waving and strong heart beat. I was crying my eyes out with relief as I had convinced myself something would be wrong esp as my symptoms had gone. So if anyone is worried I hoe this is reassuring and all goes well - so excited now! :-)

kri5ty · 01/06/2011 07:29

comeTalkToMe thanks for that... im panicking like mad coz my sympoms only lasted 2 weeks, im 12 weeks today but have to wait another week for my scan :-(

mopsytop · 01/06/2011 08:14

Welcome ComeTalk great news about the bean. I so can't wait for my scan - getting more and more impatient!

OP posts:
figgygal · 01/06/2011 08:47

I haven't really had any symptoms apart from occasional lightheadedness am very lucky I was convinced that something had gone wrong before yesterdays scan because I was feeling so fine. I suppose its natural to err on the side of caution but I was getting really worried. Good luck to all of u with ur scans hope the wait isn't much longer for u all

CandyS · 01/06/2011 15:38

I've mentioned before that my scan isn't until July (so will be 16weeks), now I'm starting to think about just not having either scan.
Although, obviously I'd like to know if Squatter has a heartbeat, so am thinking about buying a fetal heartbeat monitor (after I see MW on tomorrow), I've heard that some heartbeat monitors are a bit pants, but has anyone got any recommendations/ones to avoid?

And if I do decide against any scans (yet to tell DH) do I just tell MW and she cancels them all?

Figgy have fun telling everyone, sory you had a rough time when they tried to take blood!

mopsytop · 01/06/2011 15:44

How come you don't want a scan Candy? And sorry that I can't remember, but why no scan before 16 weeks? Can't give any advice on heartbeat monitors, don't know a thing about them I'm afraid!

CandyS · 01/06/2011 15:54

It's the day I've received an appointment for....was going to speak about changing it with MW tomorrow.
A couple of things put me off having an ultrasound; because women have been having babies long before ultrasound, so it's not really needed...but then I can't really use that argument when I'm looking at buying at heartbeat monitor Grin.
The other reason is DH is only entitled to 3-5 days paternity (depending on the length of his shift), and he's only got 12 days of leave/holiday left for this year, so I'm a bit worried about all these hospital visits meaning he gets less time with us when baby arrives.

mopsytop · 01/06/2011 15:59

Oh, that's a bit slack of the midwife service isn't it? What if you wanted a nuchal scan? That has to be done before a certain stage, week 14 I think. I don't think I will have it done actually but it should be your choice, not the hospital being slack!

Would you consider going to your scan alone if your partner hasn't got much holiday left? Would suck of course, but you might prefer it so he has more time when the baby arrives? Sorry if that's not helpful, just an idea!

OP posts:
mopsytop · 01/06/2011 15:59

p.s. might also be good just to make sure that there is only one baby in there?!!!

OP posts:
CandyS · 01/06/2011 16:08

DH is the one who wants the scans/blurry pictures of foetus etc so he'd feel sad missing out, if I chose to go alone, but it's probably worth bringing up (also, it will hilarious to find pictures of an elephant foetus & say this is what I got at the hospital. Mwhaha Wink)!

Just spoken to MW (found the number online), she told me I've got to rearrange it with the Ultrasound department, who are closed.

CandyS · 01/06/2011 16:08

*elephant foetus ultrasound (wonder how often people write that on MN)!

mopsytop · 01/06/2011 16:11

haha! I wonder if they have such a think - you'd need a massive ultrasound machine no?!!

I wonder if you'd be able to rearrange for when your DH is off work? Might be worth a try when you eventually get through!

Hi All

Just wondering how much weight gain you have had so far? I am up 6lbs because i was eating to stop my dizziness but does seem to have stabilised last few weeks.

Any sign of a bump yet anyone?

kri5ty · 02/06/2011 12:44

hi figgygal

How far are you? im 12 weeks and have put about 3/4 of a stone, although i was quite thin to start of with, so i think it my body needed more weight!..
i could not stop eating junk food at first, and now i still am a food machine, im so hungry all the time lol

kri5ty · 02/06/2011 12:44

and i have a bump... although not sure if thats just weight gain as i have enever had a "tummy" lol but i think it feels pretty solid

CandyS · 02/06/2011 12:45

Figgy I'm 11w +2 & I've gained 9lbs so far, my dizziness has only come on in the last few days so am nibbiling a biscuit every hour.

I have a bump (not sure if it's just fluid retention), it started showing 2 weeks ago (I normally have a flat stomach, now I have a pot belly)!
Do you have a bump yet?

figgygal · 02/06/2011 12:52

Im 13 weeks tomorrow and yes i have what i am going to call a bump (today at least). I was at the top end of a healthy BMI before pg and have been a normal weight for the last 11 years (was overweight kid and teen and dont want to go back) so not liking the fact that i am expanding i know i have to get used to it but god help my husband he is going to be soooo bored of me moaning for the next 6 months.

kri5ty · 02/06/2011 12:56

figgy i have always watched what i eat, and been really fit... and all of a sudden i cant be bothered with exercise so i know i will put loads on, but i figured that this is the time i can enjoy not caring what i look like, and worry about that after the birth lol

You have been a normal weight for 11 years now, so all the weight will prob just be pregnancy weight hehe x

ComeTalkToMe · 02/06/2011 14:40

Yeah, I've definitely got a 'bump' at 12wks 6days but I'm pretty sure it's down to food not baby! I do struggle with my weight and have to remind myself being pregnant is not an excuse to eat for Scotland as I'm sure I will regret it afterwards!

Just told my work today and showed the scan picture - people's reactions are so lovely!

Hope everyone is well
