Cool, would be cool to hear wouldn't it? And have the reassurance. And even if you got it and it didn't pick up anything until 12 weeks, would still be nice to hear the sounds thereafter. Although then if it didn't pick up anything would you get worried? I think I would. Ugh. Am sick of this worry. Just had really painful crampy bout of my glamorous ailment and the cramps were so bad I was seriously worried, in spite of just telling zambo ten minutes earlier not to worry!

BlueCrane · 10/05/2011 10:18

mopsy and zam I've also had bouts of the lovely D! I read somewhere that apparently D is as common a side effect as sickness just a lot less talked about! The bean basically causes havoc with our digestive systems which can cause problems going down or coming back up I guess!!

Just counted and I have 16 days to my scan Smile but still no booking app - rang the hospital again and finally got through (engaged all day yesterday!) and apparently they're in the midst of changing the system which is why they've not been in touch! I won't go to the hospital for booking but to a 'booking centre' and see the MW there but they've basically got in a muddle sorting the new appointments out but said I 'should' have it before the scan...the joys of the nhs!! Confused

rattyratbag · 10/05/2011 14:31

Hey all. I have finally cracked and have decided to book a private scan for £50 this Saturday which will be just after 10 weeks. The reason for this is that I've still not heard back from the
Mw. The one I spoke to almost a week ago said then they would be lucky to get me before 14 weeks and that wad on the basis of her booking me in last Thursday before she went off sick. Sickness and tiredness is affecting my work and I dont want to say anything before a scan. Also dh work will make it hard for him to get to mid week appointment. I have been promised I will be rung by mw tomorrow. If everything falls in place I can still cancel however if it gets to Friday and still no sign of a scan date I'm going ahead!

DarciesmumandBump2 · 10/05/2011 16:09

Hey Ladies.

Ratty Thats really bad that your having to wait so long to hear from the mw about one of the most important things in your pregnancy.

Got my blood results back and my hormone levels show I have a healthy pregnancy according to my GP so thats made me happier today.

Sickness is back today and most def not my friend, certain smells are setting it off - Not good.

justabigdisco · 10/05/2011 16:11

ratbag - I told my work this week even though I'm only 8 weeks because the sickness has meant I've already had to have time off. I haven't told them 'officially' just my line manager so she understands if I'm ill. Just explained that want to wait for scan before telling anyone else, and she was perfectly happy with that. In fact she suspected!!

BlueCrane · 10/05/2011 16:32

darcies Smile at blood results!! Hope the sickness subsides soon!

I've not had much in the way of nausea at all today and have still not actually been sick so am quite pleased. Still v tired though and my tum feels as though someone has inflated it with a bicyle pump - so sore and full of wind!! Blush Work is v v quiet so the days are really dragging past at the moment...so bored!!

zambooloo · 10/05/2011 18:18

Hi, I just counted and boo hoo I still have 30 days until my scan! So can't wait! There is a lot of baby talk at school and discussions about who will be next - I keep having to talk in the future tense, very tricky to remember! My stomach feels massive today and for the first time my clothes feel tight (but I may have shrunk my top in the wash so may be false alarm)! Ratty good plan on the private scan but boo to the MW for not being efficient - bet you can't wait xx

Felicific · 10/05/2011 19:08

Great news about bloods Darcies hope you have a relaxing evening now :)

Well done Blue for getting close to sorting, your scan is really close - very exciting.

Was relief to tell my boss what's been happening and they encouraged I put feet up which has been lovely. Will go for another reassurance scan next week I think to check everything is ok. We're really lucky our EPU does this, I know how rare it is to be able to walk in with referal. I think I'd prob get one anyone though as now on my record i've had a threatened miscarriage. Have even given up tea!!!

forestchild · 10/05/2011 20:51

Hi there, I'm new online today :) and due on 6th December.

It's good to hear that some of you have had upset stomachs too - they don't really talk about it as a symptom, do they, but I've had it for a few days now. Saw my GP whose main concern was hydration - he prescribed me diaralite.

Had a bit of spotting too and have been trying to remind myself that it's perfectly normal!

mopsytop · 10/05/2011 21:03

Welcome forestchild and congrats!
That's great about bloods Darcies.
Ratty how annoying about mw - think you are right to go for the private scan. They are so rubbish!

I had a really bad night last night, really bad upset stomach as I had said (really painful), then during the night felt really dizzy (although lying down in bed!) and really bad pain in right side. Felt really worried and then couldn't sleep. But I rang the midwife this morning she said not to worry unless the pain persists and it was already gone by this morning. So I was well relieved!

I wish there was a stop-worrying button I could press!!

Hi, I'm a newbie and am due 10th December.

I've been lucky so far. Some spotting, but nothing too scary, and some smells (OH aftershave!!) make me feel quite ill. I guess it's good that I haven't been sick, but I don't really feel pregnant yet.

Have my booking appointment next Thursday. My biggest concern about that is bumping into one of my 3 other friends who are also pregnant (and due in July, Sept and October respectively) but don't know about me yet!!

Mum pointed out that I'll need to have all my Xmas pressies bought and wrapped before the middle of November - I hadn't even thought that far ahead...

newartriotstar · 11/05/2011 18:32

The appointment with a GP really is an anticlimax isn't it?! The only good thing to come out of mine was that the due date she gave me was my OH's birthday, 21st of December! When I've used the calculators online it's been a few days before or after.

I sorted out my booking appointment today with the midwife and starting to feel cautiously excited now. I've requested time off work for it without saying what it is for and am panicking that they won't give me the time. Will have to reveal all if they don't approve my request I think :(

BluebellsintheSpring · 11/05/2011 19:56

Newart - I hope they approve the time off for you!

I had my booking appnt and first scan today. All well - m/w could see heartbeat but all a bit of a blur to me! Anyway big relief. Can't believe I've to wait another 10 weeks for my next glimpse though!

Bexworth28 · 11/05/2011 20:27

Hi guys, been having some early nights lately so not been on for a few days but it seems to ave done the trick as I've had far more energy all this week and have actually been useful at work!

Nice to see there's a few more newbies on - don't feel like such a johnny come lately! Sorry there's so many of you feeling unwell, lets hope that as we get into the second tri it starts to improve!

Felicific hope you're ok? Sounds terrible, I hope you've had a good rest and are back on your feet soon.

ratty good luck with the scan - sorry you've had to pay for it in the end but I bet you're really excited about it?

zam know what you mean about the baby talk - my cousin's at 20 weeks and she keeps updating facebook with info and pictures and its killing me not to say anything especially when family start to comment too! Also a girl at work just announced she was pg following her scan - no-ones going to care by the time I announce mine - they'll be sick of talking babies!

mopsytop · 12/05/2011 08:43

Hi all, off to have my bloods done soon. A lot of you seem to be having booking in and scan at same time - does that mean you didn't have booking in until week 12?

The thing I am not loving about these appointments is the having to pee in a bottle and then take it with you. Talk about glamorous!

I have been feeling fairly rotten since Tuesday afternoon. Why is 'morning sickness' (generic term for sickness, headaches, dizziness, stomach pains, general feeling rubbish) so bad some days and not others? I can't find a pattern, otherwise I might figure out if I am actually doing or not doing something which makes it better or worse. Maybe it is just random though.

How is everyone else feeling?

OP posts:
mopsytop · 12/05/2011 08:44

Oh and exhaustion, forgot that. Could barely stay awake yesterday afternoon! was yawning so much I thought I'd get lockjaw!

OP posts:
BlueCrane · 12/05/2011 10:05

mopsy I can't find a pattern either, some days I'm exhausted all day and feel super nauseous, other days my energy levels are better but the sicky feeling still there...some days I feel quite in control of life, others totally out of control and very emotional!! Impossible to predict! The only thing that I have found which helps is maintaining getting an early night and staying stocked up on sleep - if I have a late or bad night then that seems to make things worse, either the day immediately after or the one after that - no rule to that either!!

I'm still waiting for the MW to ring with my booking app, though scan 2 weeks today!! They did say that I would have my booking before that so I wish they'd hurry up and ring me about it as DH wants to come and it's tricky enough with his shifts as it is without him trying to get time off at the last minute!!

Waiting for a meeting to start...was supposed to start at 9am...it's now 10:05 and I'm going to need a snack at 10:30 so hoping it now waits until after then otherwise I'm going to be hungry and lightheaded again...

mopsytop · 12/05/2011 10:37

BlueCrane hope she rings soon! I think you are right re: sleep. I had a really bad night Monday night with pains/worrying and it must have hit me yesterday, rather than Tuesday.

I just had the bloods done, but unlike Darcies I don't hear anything about them - and I won't hear anything unless there is a problem. I'd nearly rather have a letter saying everything was fine. She took 6 or 7 vials of blood, I felt a bit shaky as I am already feeling really queasy. Thought I was going to puke in fact! But I am okay again now.

Right have to get back to work now. Working at home this morning so I could get to the GP surgery. Better turn off the Internet until lunchtime!

antheasa · 12/05/2011 10:39

so over feeling sick....
Cant wait for this to end i must say i am definately not the easiest person at the moment really not enjoying this. But got my first scan tomorrow so super excited I suppose that makes this all worth while. Plus i work from home and have to much free time at the moment really wish I was much busier. Think that would help more

Hope you ladies all have a good day and dont feel to bad xxxx

figgygal · 12/05/2011 19:40

Aw met a lovely midwife yesterday for my booking appt got lots of info and filled in multiple forms she is going to fax thru to hospital to try get me an scan asap since we r a bit unsure on dates. Think I'm 11 weeks today but could be further eek. Want the scan soon as getting harder to keep quiet and have been grumpy at work as tired in mornings.

Been a crazy bitch last couple days horrid to DH have a stinking headache all day today and need to chill out tonight.

Hope everyone else good today

BluebellsintheSpring · 12/05/2011 22:10

Saying a quick hello before heading to bed. I agree with Blue, no overall pattern to m/s but def gets worse with tiredness for me. I find I'm usually really bad on Thurs/Fri nearing the end of the week at work.

Mopsy - I had my scan and booking together at 10+3 but know they do things slightly differently in NI. While it was great to get reassurance, it's a long wait to 20 weeks!

Biskityas · 12/05/2011 22:44

Hello everyone, this is my first time on Mumsnet. I'm due about Dec 20th and this is my third, I already have two daughters, one 19 and one 3.
This pregnancy is totally different from my previous two! I'm sick all day and tired every afternoon.
I'm happy but a bit shocked, we were planning to fall so we missed a heavily pregnant Christmas!

Cherrypi · 13/05/2011 06:53

Had my booking in appointment with the midwife yesterday too. She was so lovely and reassuring wish I could have had it earlier. Now just waiting for scan date through the post.

rattyratbag · 13/05/2011 10:57

Hi everyone. So excited for those of you who are having booking appointments and scans. My booked is next week. Looking forward to my private scan tomorrow although am a bit preoccupied today as my sister is having a medical c-section as I type! Am glad I have booked privately as have still heard nothing re my nhs scan.
