Morning all...it's DH's birthday today and I've baked fresh pear and gingery muffins for him and got loads of nice healthy chopped fruit and fresh orange and mango smoothies waiting...but he's still fast asleep!!! I on the other hand have been awake for hours but still feel shattered!! Hmm We're going out for the day and am sooo glad I didn't rigidly plan it all to time as we'll be so late leaving, but he's shattered and the lie in will do him good! Think I'm going to have to 'test' one of the muffins before he wakes up though...so hungry and food is the best way to keep the nauseous feeling a bay Wink

Congrats littleH I like the booties gift idea! Smile

goodegg · 30/04/2011 13:57

Hello lovely ladies! It's really funny and reassuring reading everyone's often weird and random symptoms and recognising them as how I've been Smile

Not fair, went out with friends last night, not drinking of course, everyone was v hungover this morning and saying 'oh goodegg, you must be really fresh, how about you do the fry-up for everyone?' Envy closest I've come to puking, I must have felt worse than anyone!

Loving the 3 day week back at school, then 4 days, then only 3 wks til halfterm. I got a letter from the hospital with my booking appointment, it's in halfterm so I can tell everyone at work the first week back, phew. Also bad at keeping secrets here!

Question: (sorry, asking loads!) can I get my hair highlighted? My roots are a disgrace.

DarciesmumandBump2 · 30/04/2011 14:28

Felicific thats great about your blood results :)

Blue How was the muffin?

GoodEgg I don't envy you cooking that fry-up this morning.

Yes you can get your hair highlighted :)

Well work went okay this morning, lots and lots of water drunk and deep breathes to try and stop myself from puking as I was the only receptionist on today, thankfully it wasn't busy.

Really missing DP :( not used to the weekends without him and TBH I hate this. Roll on weds when my love is home.

Got a good deal on a hotel this morning at Gatwick hotel for the night before we fly to Ibiza so we don't have to get up at 2am and have me look like a zombie and wake DD.

LivinInTheMoment · 30/04/2011 17:40

Hi ladies, checking in to say hello to you all. My boobs are so tender, wish I didn't need to wear a bra.

figgygal · 30/04/2011 17:45

Oh today is a bad one have had a headache all day and last hour felt proper nauseous not felt sick yet only lightheaded and dizzy so this is new to me. Lying on sofa with pillow and blanket feeling sorry forself and for ladies that have been throwing up for weeks bleurgh

LivinInTheMoment · 30/04/2011 18:18

Sounds awful figgy

That reminds me, I must ask doc can we take a solpadeine or something for a headache?

DarciesmumandBump2 · 30/04/2011 18:29

Figgy Sounds awful, hope you manage to get a good night sleep.

Feel really tearful because I miss DP so badly silly really! Still so tired hard trying to entertain my 6yr old when all I want to do is sleep.

goodegg · 30/04/2011 18:55

Figgy poor you! Lots of water and rest for you. I don't think we can take anything but may be wrong, best not to anyway.

Livin I bought 4 vehr sexy unwired bras from M and S today Sad the ones that come in boxes. I'm normally a B cup and can wear decorative undies, practicality has taken over due to aching boobs! The (slightly terrifying) woman who measured me (C now) said it's important to not wear wired bras when pg aa it can damage the growing tissues.

BlueCrane · 30/04/2011 21:12

darcies so sorry you're missing DH so much...my DH had to go away with work for a week at start of March and I found it so hard too...I didn't nec realise how much we chatted etc until he wasn't there! Hang in there...the days are passing and he will be back soon!!

The birthday breakfast muffins were yummy and DH loved them which was the main thing! We've just had a lovely afternoon at Westfield too with yummy late lunch at Wagamama's and then a gentle wander around the shops. I know it's a bit early but my work trousers don't fit anymore 9too tight around the waist Blush ) so I bought some mat ones from Next but everywhere has sold out of short leg length Angry (even online) so looks as though I'm going to have to get my scissors, needle and thread and wonderweb out which is a bit of a pain!! I forbid myself from buying trousers that needed shortening about a year after I started work full time as they just ended up in a pile waiting to be done! But maybe a bank hol Monday job this time!!

Think it might nearly be sleep time...

BlueCrane · 30/04/2011 21:15

... goodegg when i went to M&S to get measured the lady looked rather perplexed at trying to sort me out when i said I was PG...wasn't very impressed and then she brought in the most awful bras and they were all white...none in nude or black! But I managed to order some fairly pretty ones off the internet instead so feeling bit happier...though not about the size...now DD cup!!

goodegg · 30/04/2011 22:11

DD Envy

I'd be pleased with my new C-cups if they didn't ache so much!

My woman did tell me I'd probably be back in a month or two for a bigger size Hmm

beck1980 · 01/05/2011 00:07

Hi all, my due date is xmas day (but will be having c-section no later than 18th Dec as 2 previous c-sections already). Nice to see so many expecting in Dec too. Never suffered from nausea or anything when I was pregnant with my 2 other children but have horrific lower back pain this time round. Don't know what it is as I have done nothing to cause this and still only early in pregnancy stage so can only put this down to being my 'morning sickness'

DarciesmumandBump2 · 01/05/2011 06:50

Blue Thanks am finding it quite hard without him.

Bras I got some sports bras is Asda yesterday, don't get paid till next week so will be going to M&S then as the underwire is hurting now.

Other than feeling tired still that's all I am dealing with :)

mopsytop · 01/05/2011 11:04

Hi everyone - I am back! Had a lovely holiday, saw my whole family and also spent 4 days in a beautiful house on the south coast of Ireland. Only ended up telling two of my sisters and noone else after all. Will tell the rest at 12 weeks, fingers crossed of course that I get there.
Have to get back to work now ugh - have to do a presentation next week so need to start preparing it. Weather so nice just want to hang out in the sun. Booo!

My symptoms have got better, not so nauseous, or at least only sporadically, bizarrely often when I go to bed!

Oh I found 4 different types of alcohol free weissbier (paulaner, erdinger, schneider and maisels - maisels is by far the best) and also alcohol free pear koppaberg cider - yum! Managed to get by at Easter by accepting glasses of wine and then my husband drank his and swapped mine so noone noticed I wasn't drinking - crafty! I have also had to have a few strategic headaches as normally am quite the lush so it's hard to keep refusing alcohol!!

How is everyone getting on?

Felicific · 01/05/2011 11:07

Darcies Hope days fly by till wed.

Figgy know how you feel, woke up the last two days with what felt like a migraine, only just stopped being sick since 6am and now enjoying a cuppa :) Livin Doc said paracetamol is fine to take (if you can keep them down!) but do not take codeine (in solpadeine) or ibruprofen.

Congrats to all new ladies on the here this weekend!

Blue glad you had a lovely day

Felicific · 01/05/2011 11:11

Hey mopsytop glad you got away with the wine drinking :) Can't wait till 12 weeks when we can all go public. I ended up telling both sets of parents after all the deliberating, only as we had to go to hospital but i'm glad they know - especially as we've been staying with them and i've been rather ill!

mopsytop · 01/05/2011 11:23

How come you had to go to hospital Felicific? (I haven't read the thread back if it is there - feeling a bit lazy!). I hope you are okay?

OP posts:
goodegg · 01/05/2011 11:29

Mopsy I'm also a lush so thank you for the pear cider recommendation! I think Tesco might sell it so that can be my alternative to Becks Blue.

Anyone got an iPhone? I got an app called 'What to Expect' and it has daily updates and info on your pregnancy. It's lovely. Anyway I'm at 6+3 and apparently this week the baby is blueberry sized and growing brain cells at a rate of 100 per minute!

mopsytop · 01/05/2011 11:44

Hi goodegg - it's not quite as good as normal koppaberg but it runs a close second! I have to say, having the few bottles of alcohol free beer and cider makes a huge difference, I didn't feel like I was missing out at all, and best thing was no hangovers - up bright and sprite every morning!

I haven't got an iPhone unfortunately. Too broke. Would be interesting to get that info though! I m roughly the same as you (6+1 I think) so if you have time could you post the info some days so we can share? can't believe the baby is only blueberry sized given the size of my boobs and tum! Bloat-tastic. Not very happy about it really :( but it will be worth it in the end.

Week 7

Your Body
Even if you're not telling anyone you're pregnant yet, your baby's certainly telling you. Not in so many words but in so many pregnancy symptoms. Like that nagging pregnancy nausea that follows you around day and night, or all that excess saliva pooling in your mouth (am I drooling ?). And then there's that other early pregnancy sign you certainly can't miss (especially when you struggle to button your blouse): those changes in your breasts (are these really mine?).

Your breasts are likely swelling to proportions you never imagined possible (some women have grown a full cup size at this stage) and are becoming uncomfortably tender, tingly, and achy ? mostly because of the increased amounts of that hormone duo, estrogen and progesterone. Fat is also building up in your breasts, and blood flow to the area is increasing. Your nipples may be sticking out a little more than usual ? and though they may look good enough to touch (better than ever, perhaps), they're so sensitive and tender, you'd probably prefer that they weren't. The areola, the dark area around the nipple, has already gotten darker and larger ? and will continue to grow and deepen in color over the months to come. On a less attractive note, you'll also notice little goose-bump-like spots on the areola. These bumps, called Montgomery tubercles, are sweat glands that supply lubrication to the areola. And in case you're wondering why all these changes are taking place, here's your answer: They're getting your breasts ready to feed your baby in about 33 weeks.

Your Baby
How does your baby grow? Pretty fast, actually. Your baby's length is approximately a quarter of an inch ? the size of a blueberry. Sounds pretty tiny still? Consider this for a little perspective: Your baby is 10,000 times bigger now than it was at conception a month ago.

The biggest fetal growth this week is your baby's head (the better to store all those smarts in), with new brain cells being generated at the rate of 100 cells per minute. How's that for a budding genius?

And talking about buds, your baby is going out on a limb this week as his or her arm and leg buds begin to sprout and grow longer (and stronger), dividing into hand, arm, and shoulder segments ? and leg, knee, and foot segments (though the limb buds look more like paddles than hands or feet at this early stage).

Also forming this week are your baby's mouth and tongue. And although your embryo is just one month old, it's already gone through three sets of kidneys. The ones in place now are the permanent set and are poised to begin their important work of waste management. In about a week, your baby will start producing urine. Lucky for you, there's no need for diapers (yet). As your baby matures inside you, much of that urine will be excreted into the amniotic fluid, swallowed again by your baby, and then excreted again in a continuous cycle.

goodegg · 01/05/2011 11:49

Amazing stuff eh? It gives weekly updates on 'your body' and 'your baby' and the daily stuff is quite random, more tips on managing nausea, exercising etc.

DarciesmumandBump2 · 01/05/2011 11:53

Mopsy Good to see you had a good holiday.

TBH its not bothering me about no alcohol, i've never been a drinker anyway.

GoodEgg Thanks for that info i'm 6wks today :) this is going to be one long pregnancy if its going this slow lol.

Roll on weds when my love is home. Miss him so much its making me tearful :( blooming hormones lol.

Made cakes with DD this morning and off to the in-laws for dinner this afternoon. feel tired even tho I had a good night sleep and not to many times for getting up to pee! still feel nauseous and feel I need to eat to control the nausea but the more I eat the more sick I feel bleurgh :(

mopsytop · 01/05/2011 11:58

hiDarciesmum - back to our normal living apart during the week tomorrow and I actually cried in bed last night I was so upset! So I sympathise heartily with you. I'll probably be okay once back into it but I hate the thought. Only 4 more months though I guess ... need to get this PhD written as fast as I can so it's finished in time for the baby! So I will be working so hard that hopefully the weeks will go fast! Luckily the past week's hols went really slowly, which was lovely. Can't quite believe am only 6+1 - it seems SO much longer than 2.5 weeks since I found out!

OP posts:
DarciesmumandBump2 · 01/05/2011 12:02

Mopsy how do you deal with being apart. I really don't like this at all. Will forbid him from going on holiday without me ever now Grin

What are you studying to get your PhD?

I agree about only being 6wks and finding out 2.5wks ago seems so long ago now. 30th may couldn't come quick enough for me i'll be 10wks and seeing the mw for booking and should have my scan date by then too :)

mopsytop · 01/05/2011 12:11

You just get used to it. Have to see each other every weekend though or it's really awful. I really respect anyone with a partner in the forces, it must be so hard. Imagine if you were not only missing your partner like mad but worrying about them being in life or death situations? So I guess it could be worse.

I study linguistics. Writing up at the moment. It's a really really hard slog. Nothing like a deadline though - I HAVE to finish by November. I just don't want to have to worry about it once the bean arrives. Going to have to start working really well now. No mumsnet until after work! Unless it's at breakfast time. No facebook either. Am going to be really strict with myself!
