muminwaiting and cattleprod welcome. I'm sorry you have found yourselves on this thread but I can assure you it's a very good place to be. Lots of nice food, some gossip, a kipper when needed, and lots and lots of understanding.

cattle don't underestimate your experience, just cos you didn't go far with your pregnancy, doesn't mean you can't greive and that your sorrow is not valid. Each person's experience is personal whether they were 7 or 27 wks. It's ok and understandable to mental over your current preg. I hope it goes smoothly for you from now on and yu too miw

Lady P has decided she needs a human dummy in the night for the last 2 nights, Hmm not sure I agree with her but I'll give it a few days, might be the warm weather.

ivy if you read this before baby is born, we're with you and read my bf comments. YOu will birth soon, you will birth soon. 9repeat as often as needed) :)

viv Angry at anteriot placenta, these things are send t try us yes? Glad you feel ok now.

loops save us a bit of that cake would you please? :)

orange Envy at picnic in wsm

Enjoy your eggs tomorrow girls, we are going to Port Lympe, looking forward to it. :)

Pink although both my MCs were missed and therefore discovered at scans I didn't do that much mentalling before the 20 week scan. Only because I had mentalled furiously at 8, 10 & 14 weeks NHS scans - and sneaked in 2 private scans at 12 and 18 weeks! The 18 week private scan was our proper anomoly one as the consultant spent about 40 mins checking, I had to get it done in order to relax over Christmas. Honestly, once you get this one uncer your belt you'll notice a huge change, I did at least. And yes, prune juice is very, very wrong!

Orange I remember saying to DH that we wouldn't need to buy much for this baby as we can re-use the moses, cot, pram etc. Then realised that while DH is away to work with the car I will be unable to get DD to nursery and will be stuck here all the time. So the only big thing we need to buy for this baby is a car! Also, we bought new car when DD was about 3 months old because we only had a wee polo and after the pram went in the boot there was no room for anything else so sometimes you are better just biting the bullet and getting on with it.

Good to hear from you Penguins, glad the wee one is doing well and that the section recovery is treating you kindly. Dachs it does feel a lot like wind at the start, even second time round I wasn't sure at first if it was the baby. Soon there will be no mistaking it and the pups will be kicking bits out of you!

Nicks sounds like you're having a fab time. You have reminded me, again, that I really need to get some bump pics taken before the wee man arrives!

Welcome AMIW, sorry to hear about your losses - hope this thread helps you. Catttle I've found MN a lifeline most of the time, but had to stay away duing the first trimesters of subsequent pregnancies after MC because there is always bad stuff happening to someone else and it can freak you out. Again, hope you also find some comfort in this thread.

Waves to Sam/ Spring and Lia!

I had a nice day out with DD and an old friend of mine and her 18 month old DS yesterday - parks, cold drinks and ice creams etc. A fair amount of walking about though and I was totally exhausted last night and today. My friend must feel worse though because yesterday was her due date! I've also got a lovely chest infection out of the blue so am back to coughing and hacking constantly. Sleep is ever more elusive inbetween the peeing, hip pain and now wheezing and hacking. Slept for 10 hours last night and still buggered today. DH is loving it though, I can't stay up past 10ish so he stays up all night on the PS3!

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 23/04/2011 21:42

thanks, lia. I know I'll get there. I'm not frustrated with the fact I'm actually over my EDD now, I'm just frustrated with the fact that my body can't decide whether it wants to start or not.

waves to sam

loopy by all means, if you need to skip the queue, go ahead ;)

welcome AMIW and cattle, this is a good place to be, even though I'm sorry that you are here, iyswim.

SIL popped round with eggs today, we've gone from not a single one to a whole cupboard full in the space of about 2 hours. 5 big eggs, a little kiddie set of bucket/marshmallows/eggs and a ton of creme eggs (gross) and kinder eggs. and that's before FIL and MIL bring their respective eggs... (another excuse for MIL to come round to our house.)
I hoovered the living room TWICE today, because DS decided it would be fun to spread cake crumbs EVERYWHERE. little bugger darling.

Yikes moo :( even less sleep now...Buggeration. Hope the pain and the peeing and the hacking cough arent too bad :( I have noticed i sleep so much deeper when i cover my pillow in eucalyptus oil bizarrely! Totally cannot breathe atm.

Welcome AMIW and Cattle... a good supportive place to be for those who have experienced the same xx Sending thoughts of easter stickiness.

Ivy heres hoping that today brings you some Easter contractions...xx

more sunshine today... whoopp!

OK so i need name inspiration for a boy... DH suggestion.... Drew Peacock... that is the extent of his supportive suggestions.....!! [nob emoticon] Where can i look? have tried the names thread, and the top 100 was helpful on MN but other than that for a boy i am clueless...

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 24/04/2011 08:23

loopy you can have them, I don't like them anyway. Hubby just happily ate my cadbury's caramel egg because I don't like cadbury's chocolate in general.. but my mum sent milka and lindt stuff :o

nicks we used babynamesworld.com and literally read through all the names on there, shortlisting (they have a function) every name that appealed at all, then compared lists, got rid of what we didn't like on each other's lists, and combined ours to list names that we could both possibly imagine, then go with exclusion until the end of the pregnancy. With DS we were left with 2 names, used one and added the other back to the list. this time we were left with that one and one more.

CMW will be coming roun shortly to have another rummage....

OP posts:
AlbaDeTamble · 24/04/2011 08:47

Your CMW works on Easter Sunday Ivy??! I'm amazed and impressed. Hoping it makes the difference.

Has Jolls popped in recently... She's great on baby names [bugrin]

As for sleep, the only time I slept through soundly right at the end was after reflexology. It was supposed to get labour started but seemed to have the opposite effect Hmm, still, it was lovely and I did avoid induction with a very quick and easy labour in the end. Niggles for weeks in advance, though not such productive niggles as yours Ivy, but enough that the midwife told me it would be quick when it finally got going, and she was right. Shame she never wrote that in my notes. The midwife who came out on the night stayed an hour declared no progress (without a second examination) and left. baby BBA an hour later Hmm.
Loopy when your labour starts, if you know you're quick and you want ambulance on standby, tell them baby's crowning when you call. 3 midwives and an ambulance (the latter not requested by us) arrived shortly after I gave birth! Midwife kept the ambulance there till I'd delivered the placenta, just in case.

amiw and cattle welcome to the most wonderfully supportive little corner of MN and sticky vibes and calm thoughts for you both, for today, you are both pregnant. If you can, try to enjoy that. It worked for me, sometimes...

Ok I'll disappear and revert to lurking again now for news from the top!

mamapower · 24/04/2011 09:06

Happy Easter mums, mums to be, babies and bumps! Just think this time next year, everyone on that list will be up to their eye's in nappies instead of chocolate... can't wait [bugrin]

Gotta dash, bloomin waitress has thrown a sickie... there goes my peaceful easter sunday!!

ps nix I can't help toots, sorry! We had our names picked from week 8!! Very unusual but not stupid names (in my humble opinion) and neither are in the top 100 so I'm keeping them under wraps!!

OrangeGloss · 24/04/2011 09:15

Welcome Cattleprod sorry for your loss and congrats on your pg. I feel for you with the bleeding, I bled heavily for about 3 weeks and I still check every time I go to the loo. I've taken a day at a time but had milestones like 12/16/20 week appointments to achieve and told myself I'd relax more when each one was reached. And wasn't too hard on myself for having wobbles. Also, I mourned the baby I was expecting and the life I would have had with it. No need to compare in that way, each persons grief and way of dealing is unique and equally painful

Loopy that's a good way to look at it thanks :)

Owl good to hear Owlet is being nice and boisterous again

Moo it's a relief it's not just us then! It was on it's last legs/wheels anyway. We got a Ford C Max, very practical! I think my dh likes my early nights too, I hope you're feeling better soon

Nix we're struggling with names, we had 1 boys name but dh told me last night he's changed his mind! There's an app called babynames which is good, gives most popular from the last century

Day at the beach was wonderful, though we walked loads and now I have a dodgy hip, oh well..time to eat my chocolate bunny [bugrin]

owlbooty · 24/04/2011 12:14

We've got one name lined up - still not 100% sure about it though. I just don't want a name that's in the top 100 although I think all of my nephews and nieces have names in the top 20 or so and seem to be doing fine with them.

Ivy hope the CMW goes well today. I shall be standing in the queue awaiting distribution of the unwanted chocs Grin

Nix oh dear indeed! If you guys are down in the south atm then I hope you're enjoying the beaches and sunshine :)

Additional helpful advice for MIW and Cattleprod - do not, however tempting it may be, look at the miscarriage/pregnancy loss threads on here. That way madness lies and yes, we've all done it which is how we know :) Ditto any threads you were on e.g. the June bus etc. I have wailed at those more than once.

Orange day out sounds lovely. I wish I was near the beach! I also wish I had a chocolate bunny but then only chocolate in the house is chocolate covered rice cakes. Bah.

Going to Belgium tomorrow on hols, though, I believe they have a fair amount of chocolate over there Grin

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 24/04/2011 13:33

CMW just left, she was here for almost 2 hours, drinking coffee, eating cake and chatting. (alba she said that actually a surprising amount of them are working today and they have good on-call cover tonight as well)
well, guess what. cervix central, fully effaced, 6(!!!!)cms dilated, membranes bulging. But not a single contraction today. what the hell is going on?!

OP posts:
AlbaDeTamble · 24/04/2011 13:47
AlbaDeTamble · 24/04/2011 13:49

Ivy has the midwife any experience of the situation you're in now? >4cms = active labour doesn't it? Hope the clock's not ticking for you now

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 24/04/2011 13:57

it's not active labour unless you're actually active, iyswim. as long as there aren't contractions and baby is perfectly happy (which it is, and very comfortable by the looks of it), she said she'll just class it as multips os, even though there has been progress.. she hasn't started a partogram or anything, but said that as soon as anything happens I need to call them because they don't want me to BBA. (another midwife lives round the corner from us and said she'll come even if she's not on call, if it looks tight for time).
she says there is no need to worry, just don't take any long trips anywhere.. she says some people just labour that way, slowly, over weeks right until the end.
I wouldn't know if this is normal for me because I never got to do things naturally with DS thanks to induction-happy consultants..

OP posts:
AlbaDeTamble · 24/04/2011 14:11

Frustrating for you I'm sure, but I can think of far worse ways to get to 6cms! I hope mini-Ivy doesn't keep you waiting much longer.

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 24/04/2011 15:31

true :) it's actually quite encouraging because it means that it's not all for nothing. :)

loopy I had PROM at 35 weeks with DS and they started getting twitchy about infection at 37.5 weeks and induced me. They had been keeping me in hospital for a while before and told me that I wouldn't be able to go home till he was born, so when he was born I discharged myself in the morning....

owlbooty · 24/04/2011 20:44

Loops I'm going along the coast then up to visit friends in South Netherlands, so not a million miles away from Ypres.

I will helpfully lend you my collection of girls names seeing as I am not going to get to use them this time - Rosalind? Bella? Evelyn? Grace? Hazel? Imogen? See, this is where I went wrong - loads of girls names and no boys names. :)

Ivy you're over halfway there!

SpringFlowers · 25/04/2011 07:19

Go Ivy..! Six cm is brilliant, in fact you've probably had your baby by now...

Loopy my dh made me move last night as my belching smelt Blush

Owl have a fab holiday Envy

Bella, Grace and Hazel are on our not-so-short list!

My hips on the mend thank gawd as I walk to work, and I spent yesterday reading all the pg stuff out of my Bounty pack I hadn't dared before [brave emoticon]

PinkFondantFancy · 25/04/2011 09:21

Thanks all for your reassurances about the next scan-a week and a day to go and hopefully fingers crossed I'll be able to calm the mentalling for a few days.

aMIW sorry to hear about your horrible year last year. These girls are fab, and very wise and reassuring-you've found a great place to be.

cattleprod I just wanted to second what the others have said-I am spending this pregnancy constantly anxious, even if I've got no good reason to be, apart from last year's MC. The bleeding must have made things so much harder for you, so you definitely shouldn't beat yourself up for being scared. owly is very right-it is so tempting to cruise the MC or Antenatal boards for when you would have last been due but it really will send you round the bend. I don't have any advice on how to stop metalling except coming here whn you're feeling anxious is a good way of finding a bit of calm.

ivy hope you're doing ok today!

PinkFondantFancy · 25/04/2011 09:31

loopy delta sounds lovely!

Angry I am so bloody pissed off this morning. DH has decided it's a glorious day so instead of doing any of the jobs around the house he's supposed to do, so going to view some houses with me so we don't have to live in the world's smallest house when the baby comes, he's announces that he's going to the field to fly his model plane all day. Brilliant. Really productive. Apparently I am out of order for suggesting this is a bit of a pisstake because we spent the weekend at my mums. The fact that we're spending all next weekend with his relatives is apparently irrelevant. ARGHGH. Sorry for rant but thought probably better to vent here than go anywhere near him right now......
