OrangeGloss · 06/04/2011 20:38

Dachs it's a Quinnie, 3 wheeler-type thing, not much use for twins :) are you feeling any better today?
Good point about the car seat apples and Moo I think because we know and really trust this person we'll go for it, but appreciate why some people wouldn't
apples Glad the blood test went ok and poor DS has some banana medicine. Good nesting instinct too!
Thanks for the dates Viv
too early?

Thanks for the shopping encouragement. He's bringing it in Monday now. Now I've decided I'm really impatient! Also mammas and papas cotbed (will buy a matress) on offer from someone else. I've had a crappy day then felt some gentle tapping which made me feel a whole lot better Grin

nickstermum · 06/04/2011 22:13

Ivy, can empathise. Slow labour is disheartening and exhausting.... get your rest whilst you can, good that you are dilating albeit slowly... mine took from sunday evening to thursday evening to get to 3 cms so you are doing very well.... just make sure you rest when you can.

DH hasnt gone yet. Taking him down to Poole on friday (having a days hol) and DS and I are coming back on the train on sunday. Im in bristol tonight though. Had a bit of a fright. Had some discoloured discharge today... murky rather than red pink or brown... and then a couple of tiny pin pricks of blood. Nothing since, all clear... and baby is wriggling away, some good hearty kicks...just freaked me out cos am away i think. I told myself earlier on in the pg that i would get this more than once, just freaks me out when i see it!! Maybe i had a spot or something, or scratched self in the night.. dunno... will drive myself mad thinking about it!

orange re cotbed.. i bought a gorgeous m&p oak one, and have never used the bed!!! Cot was fab, although i would probably suggest one with a dropped side... but for me DS went straight from Cot to big single bed and slept so much better...! something to think about :)

Re the branstons, think i am having some... a real ferocious tightening around belly button, top of uterus. never had any with DS. apples poor DS :( nowt like yakky nana meds!! reminds me of my childhood!!

Owl cannot wait to get to 24 weeks.. then its 28 weeks to preemie viability.... i think)?) Fecking hell.... roll on..

penguins Shock at the £1...glad it went straight through damage free...Grin

OrangeGloss · 07/04/2011 06:41

Nix gawd that's not what you need when you're away. I'm glad you've been booted to reasssure you things are ok. Sounds like you have a nice weekend away planned too.

With the cotbed, why is sleeping better in a proper bed vs a cotbed bed? [naive emoticon] hmmm... I suppose if it was cheap enough it wouldn't be a waste of money if the bed aspect didn't get used in the end

OrangeGloss · 07/04/2011 06:42

Forgot to say Envy at Owl and Nix :)

nickstermum · 07/04/2011 07:04

orange nowt since... and tons of kicks during the night.. dont think this bean has slept for two days!! Phew.. no sleep for me though... shattered now. TBH i didnt dare go to sleep....

Re your naive emoticon Grin only cos a cotbed is smaller than a single. Having said that, i know lots of peeps who use them.. toddler beds i think they call them. Wasnt good for my DS only cos he thrashed about during the night and still does and needed more space Grin tbh he still does it now and wakes himself up even in a single, am seriously considering putting him in a double Grin. (he loves being in my Sking size and usually ends up horizontal with his legs wedged into my neck! Absolutely right, if its being given to you or hardly costs anything then its worth every penny Grin

PinkFondantFancy · 07/04/2011 07:04

How's things ivy ?

Good work joining the list dachs !!

nix you poor thing, that sounds scary although huge respect for your zen!! Hope you have a lovely weekend and that the weather is nice for you! Your bookface pictures are coooooolllll bumptastic! Grin Envy oh also, same as what orange says (about cot bed and dates!!! :) )

orange I am v impressed you've hopped on the purchasing wagon!

owly I need your advice. When you were having panic attacks were they triggered by a particular event or was it underlying anxiety? Since I've been off sick I have been spending waaaay too much time on google and I think my breathing/heart issues maybe start as asthma and turn into an anxiety/panic attack. When I think about it I do feel generally anxious although I couldn't tell you specifically what about Confused ha get this though-side effect of progesterone pessaries=heightened anxiety! Classic!! That's exactly what I needed......

PinkFondantFancy · 07/04/2011 07:07

Ha nix your DS is going to make a wonderful hubbie to someone one day!!!!

appleblossoms · 07/04/2011 07:31

I got given a cotbed for DS orange and at 14 months he started climbing over side (literally caught him as he climbed out when refusing a nap!) so he's been using it as a bed ever since and as slept beautifully... up until recently, but that's nothing to do with the bed! Wink Only thing is it doesn't have a dropside...which is a pain, but not unworkable.

You poor thing nix, these things are always more scary when you're away from home. Good job little bean is kicking away to reassure you...it does make it a bit easier to keep the zen doesn't it!

Any news this morning ivy? My sister had slow labour with her first, in and out of hospital for a week to keep being monitored...so at least you're avoiding that. Hope things kick off properly soon.

I'm concerned my nesting instincts are getting out of control...I dreamt I was in a messy cave last night and I was desperately trying to tidy it up before the cave fell in?! Oh dear. Hmm

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 07/04/2011 08:28

I am now officially the most pregnant I have ever been.
Seeing my midwife today to see if I've made any progress...

apple do you fancy coming to clean my house? :o

toomuchteaching · 07/04/2011 09:47

Just quickly stopping by to wish Ivy good luck, we've got the kettle on for you amongst the nappies and muslins on the other side. Hope it gets going properly soon.

Waves to everyone else, and welcome to new delurkers... may you have a very quiet, boring stay.

CaribouMoo · 07/04/2011 10:53

Nicks remember I got some spotting and cramping at 22 weeks too? I had ONLY just started to relax and enjoy being pregnant after the 20 week scan when it happened but it was a one off and the wee man was absolutely fine. Frightens the shite out of you though, I know.

Keep us posted Ivy, hope its good news from the MW. At least you have your eassy out of the way now and DS is better.

On the cotbed subject DD used one up until recently and slept well. She does tell me though that her 'big girl bed' is much comfier, so we probably had her in it for too long!

Pink hope you're breathing settles down soon. I had breathing problems with DD but only from about 7 months onwards because she was breech and her head was on top of my lungs. It can be scary though. How come you're off sick, what's the matter? You mentioned your heart too, I have always noticed through all 4 pregnancies that my heart races and the doc told me its just down to the body pumping more blood around.

I had to phone the doc this morning about poorly DD, we were up again all night last night with coughing. She now has an eye infection too and each time she woke up coughing her eye was glued shut and I had to bathe it. Of course, 5 days of high temps, coughing and vomitting = viral infection so advice was to keep administering calpol and eye drops have been prescribed. I am SOOO TIRED! At least DH is home later. I don't even care about missing him anymore, I just need him here to bloody help! I've also got the physio later for joint pain, total calamity.

Does anyone know why you can't give children under 12 cough medicines anymore? When DD was younger we could get some for her, just wondering what the sudden danger is.

appleblossoms · 07/04/2011 12:41

moo it's something to do with the active ingredient being a muscle relaxant, i think.... so they don't think it's safe for little ones any more. My sis is a doc and she says there's now no point buying specific cough medicine for under 12s as they don't have any active ingredients in...instead you can try giving them a spoonful of honey, or mix honey in hot water for a drink, and the syrup soothes the throat...that's all cough medicines for littleuns do. Hope that helps!! We've had LOTS of coughs with DS since christmas!

PinkFondantFancy · 07/04/2011 13:50

moo I know I probably sound like a total hypochondriac but I'm off work because I'm just too knackered to do my job properly :( Because I've not been able to breathe very well at night, I haven't really been sleeping so have been completely exhausted. I work in the city and I'm expected to be vaguely on the ball and useful when I'm at work, and the last couple of weeks I've been there in body but definitely not in spirit and spent most of the time crying Blush So anyway I've been signed off for the next couple of weeks to try and get some sleep and hopefully get my act together a bit! I think the heart thing is a bit of a red herring - I told the clinic that's been monitoring the pregnancy about how I've been finding it hard to breathe and when it's particularly hard I've been getting a pounding heart too which worried them - to be honest I think it's actually anxiety. Anyway I get the results back from the cardiologist tomorrow so hopefully there's nothing up.

I went to the doctors today and she gave me an inhaler so fingers crossed that will sort me out. She is the nicest doctor in the world - gave me a cheeky doppler fix, was sooooooooooo amazing to hear the little bean's heartbeat!!! Can't get the smile off my face Grin

owlbooty · 07/04/2011 14:18

Pink Hoorah for the cheeky doppler fix! Grin

I used to randomly get panic attacks of breathlessness and heart thudding at about 2pm. Every day. This was before I got updiffed and I'm still not sure why the hell it happened, I suspect it was because I was going through a divorce at the time and life was a bit messy. I didn't even realise what the panic attacks were for a couple of months.

The thing to remember is that panic attacks kind of go round in a circle of hideousness. You start feeling a little breathless - in your case that might be because you're slightly asthmatic. Then you start to worry about not being able to breathe all the way in, consciously or subconsciously. Which makes it worse. Then you start to panic about it getting worse and think you will not be able to breathe. Etc. Until you've got yourself worked up into a complete state and cannot breathe at all!

HOWEVER, the thing to keep telling yourself is that, no matter how breathless you feel, your body will not let you down. You are extremely unlikely to pass out and you will definitely not stop breathing. Now you have the inhaler you can use that to head off the panic before it gets a chance to really kick in, which is the ultimate aim.

It's all about getting control of it - and recognising it for what it actually is. Then you can remain calm(er) and you stand a very good chance of mastering it.

owlbooty · 07/04/2011 14:22

Now can anyone tell me whether a 7 year old Jane matrix carseat will fit on an newer, ISOfix base?

Prams are a fecking bloody nightmare.

For anyone who is blissfully unaware as yet of what the feck I am talking about, you lucky buggers. The words 'travel system' send shudders down my spine.

nickstermum · 07/04/2011 20:58

Prob not owl... Re the Jane!! But check it out :) moo I remember but thought it was 24 weeks.reassuring plus it's been belting me again :) I tend to get discoloured when I need to rest... Note to self!!

Pink good news for the inhaler, hope it works!!

Too tired to post. Night all xx

don't get yer hopes up, I'm still here.
MW asked me yesterday if I wanted to go into hospital for augmentation if I was getting tired, but bubs is ok, and as long as that's the case I'll be holding on at home.
lots and lots of show today, hopefully the reflexology will really kick things off. Did have one monster contraction this morning that made me squeal, mainly because I wasn't expecting it. bring it on!

OP posts:
owlbooty · 08/04/2011 09:48

What the eff is augmentation?

Hoorah for the lots of show though :) Things are definitely moving in the right direction.

I shall prepare the brie and champagne Grin

Loops I suspect you are right - tried to get the pram in my car last night in a rush and could not for the life of me work out how the fuck to fold it up. Passers by were probably rather bemused by the sight of a pregnant woman with a pram containing only a handbag, walking around the pram and swearing like a trooper at it whilst pressing every button I could find.

Thankfully all the seats in my tiny car fold flat so I heaved the unfolded evil contraption into the back and basically shoved until I could close the boot then drove home with the handlebars sticking into my head. And then it didn't fit through the bastard front door and we had to open the other door. What a faff!

Needless to say, I now want a Bugaboo Bee as they seem to be about the size of a postage stamp and weigh nothing. You never never see them second hand. I suspect they are probably popular for a reason. I shall start applying for a second mortgage.

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 08/04/2011 09:54

augmentation would be either ARM (artificial rupture of membranes) or a synto drip - basically induction, only that it's not induction when things are already going. I'm not having it. Wasn't the end of the world with DS, but I spent 2 years mourning my lost homebirth, I'm not about to let this one go easily.
We have had a bottle of £40 champagne in the fridge since we got married in august, because I got my BFP the day after I bought the bottle..

owl I laughed rather hard at your pram story, I can picture myself doing that. only that we have one of these monsters and there is no chance I could fit that into our boot without folding it.

OP posts:
owlbooty · 08/04/2011 10:36

Dear God, you could put a 14 year old in that.

I need to start doing some weightlifting I think.

I can't imagine there's any point in induction when you're progressing at your own pace - don't blame you for sitting tight and aiming for the homebirth, that is exactly what I would do, I'm damned if I am going down the MW prodding about route. Feel free to laugh and point when I end up with an ELCS because Owlet is the wrong way up and the wrong way round. Grin

I too have several bottles of rather nice champagne in the cupboard as I got the first failBFP about 5 minutes after getting hitched so couldn't drink it then and since then have been TTC or updiffed so never got the chance to drink it.

PinkFondantFancy · 08/04/2011 10:57

owly I want to give you a huge squishy hug. First of all because your post about panic attacks makes so much sense, especially because I've been (touch wood) soooo much better since a) I heard beany is ok and b) following your advice of remembering that I'm not actually going to die means my breathing now settles down much quicker and I actually had a fab night's sleep last night, hurray! Second of all because your posts always make me laugh out loud. Sounds like in summary the pram is not a go-er Grin not unless you can find somewhere private to practice under the cover of darkness anyway...

ivy sounds promising!! Fingers crossed you're not far away now! Your pram is huge but bet it's good as it's German!!

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 08/04/2011 11:29

hubby just turned up with a HUGE bowl of overripe pineapple. yum. wonder if he's trying to tell me something :o

OP posts:
owlbooty · 08/04/2011 16:26

Aw, shucks Blush

Hoorah for the good night's sleep - tis a rare and lovely thing, here's to many more before MiniFancy turns up and ruins it :)

We are going to look at proper non-evil prams tomorrow which is splendid.

Ivy I think he might be, but yum anyway, pineapple is lush :)
