re the car seat, just if it is going to spend alot of tiem in the car seat then its better for thier backs to be laid flat. professional people reccomend that babies dont spend more than 2 hours at a time in a normal car seat. dd did if she was asleep when i took her out of the car as there was no way i was risking waking her when i moved her and she is perfectly fine, but it just seems like a good idea to have a lie flat one if you can, especially if it fits straight on to the pushchair too

lizandlulu · 27/05/2011 20:19

tiem and thier??? think i need a breakGrin

Iwish · 27/05/2011 20:27

haha tiem and thier! think your fingers may have stopped working.
Aaah that makes perfect sense. suppose thats a goodd thing if i take him out for the day and he ends up in the seat for a while, at least he can be comfy. Well im pretty sure i have sold myself the pram without even seeing it Grin

How often did you feel your little one moving in the early days? and when did the kicks get strong enough for your DH to feel?

wow i have a lot of questions today! :)

lizandlulu · 27/05/2011 21:46

i first felt it for the very first time at 13 weeks, the fluttering feeling i mean, but nothing then for weeks. the movements got stronger at about 2o weeks and proper kicks from about 25 weeks. dh could feel them at about 25 /26 weeks but seeing as i have alot of belly fat anyway i think thats quite late. he can only feel it even now if its having a proper kick about.

i would def try and see the pram in the flesh though, or buy from somewhere that you can return it too, spose tesco would be as good as anywhere though. i had my heart set on a phil and teds smart buggy with peanut carrycot after seeing it in a magazine but saw it in a shop and it looked like it was made out of legoGrin

i ordered my obaby zynergi without seeing in for real though. took a chance and i think i will get on with it, it looks good anywayGrin

Iwish · 27/05/2011 22:05

I'm 21+4 now so I guess still a few weeks for DP to feel it. I have belly fat too so might be late hehe. I feel him usually once or twice a day but it's usually quite a few movements each time.

Yeh I really do want to see it in the flesh as I'd be gutted if I just bought it and didn't like it. We are hopefully going to a few shops this weekend. I saw the obaby zynergi on the Internet today, it looks v nice! Grin at the other pram looking like it was made of Lego!
DPs mum showed me one yesterday that she liked - good job she's not picking it because it was awful lol!

Hopefully going to clear out the bedroom that little man will be having this weekend. I can't wait to get it emptied so we can think about buying his furniture etc.

lizandlulu · 27/05/2011 22:11

up to about 22 weeks i didnt fee a great deal, maybe once or twice a day. i have an anterior placenta though which makes a difference in the amount you can feel.

yey my furniture is coming tuesdaySmile i cant wait to get it all in and i can start and wash sheets and blankets. i have fetched bin bags full of them from mums and even those are mainly pink or lilac! i didnt think about re using them for the next child. i do have some white sheets but not a great lot. will just have to wash them just in case it is a girl, then donate them to charity if its a boy. i will re use alot, but cant use pink blankets for a boy!

Iwish · 27/05/2011 22:25

Heh mine is anterior too but it's low anyway so I'm guessing he's probably practically on top of it lol.

I bet you are so excited for it all coming. Bet you will just be stood in the room admiring it. I think its a fab idea to reuse some of the stuff you have. Theres no point buying new if you already have stuff. Unless you need blue like you said.
I can't wait till the furniture is in and I can start putting his little clothes in the drawers etc.

MadKatz · 28/05/2011 07:28

Hi Ladies,
The scan was fine. Theyve got all the measurements now and everything is ok.
DH and I are going to meet up with my Dad tonight to try and 'put things right' after the house move incident.....just want everything back the way it was before Confused

lizandlulu · 28/05/2011 08:16

oh yes sorry i forgot your had anterior tooBlush my memory is rubbish.

madkatz iam glad they got all the measurments they needed. i hope everything goes well tonight, there is nothing worse than falling out families. it always gives me a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach, not niceSad

KLou111 · 28/05/2011 16:04

Iwish I've got the Jane Slalom with Matrix light and I love it, really easy to put together. I never saw it in the flesh as nowhere here or nearby in the Midlands stocked it. Make sure you get the Matrix light version as the usual Matrix is heavier, and as the light one is quite heavy anyway at around 6kgs, it makes all the difference esp once baby is in it!! The black ones tend to be more expensive than the coloured ones, we got a dark red one, came with changing bag and raincover and I wanted a 3 wheeler lol! It was £498 delivered including the mattress for the seat so we can get away with not having to take a travel cot or moses basket at first. The 3 wheeler also has a footrest too.
We've got the lie flat due seat to us travelling a lot back and forth to the Midlands, although not planning to go a hell of a lot in the early stages, it's over 3 hours and if we don't need to stop we won't. If you're doing short journeys though I wouldn't bother, although if you want a 'pram' like attachment it saves getting 3 different attachments for the frame :)

Re movements, felt from 14 weeks, then more definite movement at around 20 weeks, and DH felt from 22 weeks :) He was trying to listen to the HB the other day and s/he kicked him in the ear, was so funny!!!

Glad all went well Madkatz and hope your family gets back normal soon :)

Melly have you popped yet lol!!!

Iwish · 28/05/2011 16:14

madkatz I'm so glad that all went well at the scan. Fingers crossed that all goes well tonight.

klou I think I'd did say it was light. I really just want to buy it but I would like to see it. Can't find ANYWHERE that stocks it here. What on earth should I do?!! Think I might just get it...

Liz, melly and gruffalo hope you are good today.

Yey I have finally booked my 4d scan!! Saturday 18th June! Only 3 weeks away!!!
I was going to book it for 27/28 weeks but when i rang they recommended I book for 25 weeks because aparently it's harder to see baby when your placenta is anterior and you, baby and placenta are getting bigger. Sooo I'll be 24+5. I cannot wait, eeek! I am so excited to see my Likkle man again.
We have been looking at baby shops today - loved it.

KLou111 · 28/05/2011 16:29

I'm sure mine is anterior too, will have to look in my notes in a bit :) I didn't think you could have a 3d one until after 26 weeks as baby doesn't have much fat so hard to see? They all say different things don't they!!
I just read the reviews on our pram and went for it Iwish as if it's the one you have your heart set on, no matter which other one you see, you'll keep going back to that one lol :)

OP posts:
Iwish · 28/05/2011 17:11

Strange how they say different things isnt it. Just looked at some 4d scans on utube at 24 weeks and they look good - phew!
Yeh I think Ive sold myself the pram. Going to get DPs mum to but it for us soon I think. Yippee!
Have you got a Moses basket klou or is bubba going strait into the cot?

KLou111 · 28/05/2011 18:39

DH wants bubba to go straight in cot as he was speaking to his mum and she said there was no harm and best prob to get baby used to it straight away, but I think would like baby in moses basket in our room for a few weeks while we get used to things, then put the basket in the cot :)

cheesecake

OP posts:
Iwish · 28/05/2011 21:24

I was going to put our Likkle one strait in the cot but decided that we will have him in a moses basket in our room for a bit then maybe put him In the basket in the cot for a whole so he's still comfy in the basket but gets used to his room.

Mmm I love cheesecake!! I'm sat here with some jelly tots hehe.

lizandlulu · 29/05/2011 22:43

evening all, just about to go to bed, but thought i would look in here see if i have missed owt.

melly how are you feeling?

GruffaloMama · 30/05/2011 15:22

Hi all. We've finally switched to Sky so have broadband again. Hurray!!! Sorry for all the typos in my last post - it hardly made sense but I was doing it on my phone.

Melly - how are you doing?

Gotta go and do some work but will be back later when I've got a bit more time.

Hope you've all had a good weekend even though the weather has been rubbish.

KLou111 · 30/05/2011 16:42

Well, thought I'd have a go a plastering this morning. What a bloody laugh that was! Hmm Had some powder filler stuff that DH got to do the plasterboard joints, and I thought I did it quite well until DH said have a go with the plaster instead as it's a lot cheaper and if you can do it, have a go. So I did have a go but plaster doesn't tell you how much to mix with water, whereas the filler did. 3 lots later and still couldn't get it right. Every time I got it upstairs it was rock hard so gave up in the end. Think DH a bit gutted for me as he said I was doing so well lol!! God I'm useless! It was easy to spread and all, but just couldn't get the right mix. Been quoted £500 to do it by a plasterer, who can do it in 3 weeks time, so DH going to have a go this week when he's done a few other things. If he can't do it, we'll book the plasterer! Just want it done. Getting a bit close now to be messing around now IYSWIM.

Melly where are you?? Hope all OK x

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 30/05/2011 20:44

hiya gruffalo nice to hear from you, how long do you have left?

klou well done you for having a go!

melly you are getting us worried/excitedSmile not like you to be away for so long

KLou111 · 30/05/2011 22:29

Well, think we have decided to now use our other spare room (the bigger one, also next to our room) as the nursery now. Bloody hell!!
Means doesn't need plastering or carpeting etc as already OK in there, just need to paint it and furnish it. It's better as it's next to us and not next to the bathroom as the other room is, so less 'traffic' for bubba, and means if we have people stay, they are across the landing and have direct use of the bathroom. There is also only 1 window so will be darker for bubba to be able to sleep.
Once we've got our ensuite up and running, we won't use it except for bubba's bath, and means we don't have guests next to our room, so makes sense really.

Can just fit the double bed in the other room which is good.
Pain in the arse is though, we have a pine chest of drawers in there which we use and DH wants to keep in there as they won't fit the other room, so that's totally screwed my colour scheme so will be duck egg and pine now instead of white!! Found cot in mothercare of same colour (that antique pine colour) so just need to find a reasonably priced wardrobe with drawers. And here was me thinking I was all sorted pah!!

(sorry have had very self indulgent posts today!!)

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 31/05/2011 09:31

have you tried ebay local bargains klou google local ebay bargains, there is a few sites i think, then just put in your postcode and it brngs up all of the stuff in your area that is too big to post and for collection only, there is always pine stuff for sale near us. you might get one locally quite cheap. unless you want new.

KLou111 · 31/05/2011 10:16

Thanks Liz. Have managed to find one on ebay from a shop. Is a small height one cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300554494694&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_4510wt_2165here so will get a couple of basket things to put on top of it for storage.

Have got a lot more room in the other room so may get a changing unit to put in there as the chest of drawers are quite low, decisions decisions.

WHERE ARE YOU MELLY???????? Hope all OK xxx

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 31/05/2011 11:07

that looks big enough for a baby doesnt it. i found whith lulu that a chest of drawers did for the first few months, but as you get more and more clothes and those clothes get bigger, you fast run out of space.

well my furniture is ment to be here this morning, nothing yetHmm

i have got to see the midwife at 1.50. i will be glad to show her them marks on my leg, they are definatly not going away.
