I think OS just means cervix. I hope it moves!! I've been scaring myself with google and it says things like sex can make you bleed etc etc. Good job I've lost my sex drive and it freaks DP out be size there's a baby in there! Blush. We did however dtd a few days ago and I had the tinyest spot of pinkish blood strait after.
No one told me anything at the hospital!!

Liz I hope my labour is like my mums then!!

Iwish · 20/05/2011 20:09

Pressed enter by accident!!

Lol melly you aren't being dumb. I didnt have a clue!!

Have we discussed names on here? We are going to call my little boy Joshua Peter.

lizandlulu · 20/05/2011 20:24

iwish thats a lovely name. you dont hear peter very much nowadays and i love traditional namesSmile

alot of people get blood after sex, i did once, it can just be the cervix walls and prob have nothing to do with your placenta.

i dont think it is a big problem unless it bleeds alot or starts to come away from the womb.
i only know bits and bobs as a lad at work's missus had placenta praevia but quite bad, and she bled alot, but she knew from scans that it was going to be a problem and she was aware of it. i am sure if the hospital dont seem concerned i wouldnt worry about it.

Iwish · 20/05/2011 23:18

Thanks melly we chose Peter as it's my mums brothers name (he passed away age 8) and my brother has Peter as his middle name. My nana cried when I told her - bless her!
Have you chosen a middle name for Poppy?

Well I just presumed the blood was because we hadn't dtd for a while or something just because I'm pregnant but when they told me the placenta Is low I decided that's why lol! I've read a bit more and apparently most move out of the way by 32 weeks so I'll just keep my fingers crossed.

Iwish · 20/05/2011 23:22

Sorry I meant Liz and meant to type a separate line for melly about poppy's middle name!! MUST NOT TRY AND DO 2 THINGS AT ONCE! Blush

lizandlulu · 21/05/2011 08:51

morning all, what have you all got planned for the weekend?

iwish thats a lovely thought. its traditional round our way to name the first born son after its faher and i have always always said i would do that. i had a brother who died 15 years ago and his name was thomas so if its a boy i would name it christopher thomas.
but i have been thinking more and more about how thomas is my family name, dad, brother, grandad, great grandad were all a thomas and it would be really nice to carry that on, even though i dont paticularlily like thomas, i would call it that and use tommy as i also love nicknames (lulu is actually a leah but nicknamed her lulu and it stuck!)
so not sure if its going to be christopher thomas or thomas christopher. i said to chris i will see how i feel when it comes out, might be a girl so no argument!
chris knows the reason i want to call it thomas and says he would rather call it after him but if i feel strongly about it he doesnt mind and has been telling people we will call it tommy if its a boy.

(god that lot is a mouthfullSmile)

KLou111 · 22/05/2011 08:32

Bloody hell, I've only been off a day lol!!

IWish love Joshua Peter, I wanted Joshua, but DH doesn't want ANYTHING that sounds remotely religious lol! I liked Bethany for a girl and that got a no straight away too! Hope your placenta is OK in there and all goes well at 32 weeks.
When I had some bleeding 'in the early days' they weren't sure what it was. All I got from my mum was 'if you weren't my daughter the first thing I would ask is if you have had sex, but I don't want to talk about that.' Ha ha, 31 and still thinks I'm her little girl lol! So it is common, although when I had it, only once had we actually DTD.

My sex drive has gone into OVERdrive here. Can't get a bloody nuff!! Quite funny though cos I'm starting to now lose sight of down there Blush

Liz would your DH 'let' you officially call the baby Christopher Thomas and then just use his middle name as his name??

Melly are you kakking yourself yet?? :)

hiya klou blimey i have forgotten what sex feels like! i really cant be arsed nowadays. we do do it every couple of weeks, but nowhere near what we used to. alot of the time i am really sore from the thrush, its still coming and going every few weeksSad

re the name, chris has said he is ok with calling it thomas if i want to. he named lulu so its my turnGrin

also i just won a mamas and papas skate on ebay! £65!!! its got a small tear on the rain cover and a small stain from suncream on the seat cover, but she says apart from that its in excellent nick. i had been looking at them to use for when we go abroad in oct (planning to go with some friends to spain) and wanted to use a proper pram but not my good one as i didnt want it to get wrecked on the plane, and this skate changes into pram and pushchair all using the same seat unit.

got to go and pick it up when she gets back to me, so hopefully it isnt too good to be true. i got outbid on one that went for £146 but they are over £600 in the shop!

lizandlulu · 22/05/2011 21:49

i have added a pic taken on saturday, but its quite far away you cant see to closley

Melly19MummyToBe · 23/05/2011 13:45

Afternoon! Everyone have a good weekend? You all still here then after the "Rapture"? I know I am!

Just written a list of what to do when I go into labour and stuck it on the fridge, it says who to ring, and the numbers, and then what to take with us :o

The Poppys in the garden will be coming out soon so I'm hoping it's a sign that this one is coming out soon too :o been feeling a bit crampy all weekend so hopefully shouldn't be too much longer!! I haven't really decided if I'm scared or not Klou, as I don't really know what there is to be scared of, if you see what I mean?

Iwish thats a lovely name, I always loved the name Peter! Poppy is going to be called Poppy-Louise, Simons even got into the habit of calling her Poppy-Lou :o and also Poppyraptor Hmm, his mum bought her a little money pot thing and it has a dinosaur on top called a Poppyraptor so now he keeps calling her that.

We went to look round the hospital yesterday, was a tad disappointed and rather amused to see that Lincolns birthing pool is actually an inflatable one :o they're on the 6th floor so can't get the plumbing done apparantly. I also saw the very room my nephew was born in 4 years ago :) I've also asked my sister to be my 2nd birthing partner because I don't think Simon will be able to handle it all very well and janines had 2 kids so she knows what goes on! She cried when I asked her and gave me a big hug bless her :)

lizandlulu · 23/05/2011 15:23

melly an inflatable pool at the hospitalShock you have proper disappointed me now!!! i didnt get to look round the hospital last time as she was early. did they say anything to you about having awaterbirth? do you have to be so far along before they let you go in it?

whats this rapture?

Melly19MummyToBe · 23/05/2011 15:38

Yup, it's a birthing pool in a box! You should go for a tour, every saturday and sunday at half 1, you don't need to book, jst turn up and meet on Nettleham ward. They just said that the pool rarely gets asked for, so it's likely that you will get it if you want it. When you ring up the labour ward to let them know you are in labour and coming in, just tell them you want the pool and they will make a note of it. It looks rather funny really, it's in the 'big' delivery room, there's a bed in the corner and sat in the middle of the room is basically a paddling pool :o

The rapture was meant to be at 18:00 on saturday 21st, end of the world or something, but all the christians were meant to go up to heaven and all the athiests were left behind, till October when the earth is supposed to turn into hell or some shite like that.

lizandlulu · 23/05/2011 15:44

oh god i was expecting something really sturdy i could sort of hang over the side ofGrin i will def go for the look round nearer the time though as i dont remember where to go anyway.

and i am still left walking the earthHmm

Melly19MummyToBe · 23/05/2011 16:08

It does look pretty sturdy, although inflatable. What I find most amusing is, is that it was in the papers when they got it, and also the first person to use it got in the paper! Like it's a huge deal that they got an inflatable birthing pool Hmm

lizandlulu · 23/05/2011 16:48

they didnt have one at all 5 years ago! they are not that expensive are they!

nice of you to ask your sister to be with you. have you got some drinks in your birth bag? i am planning to take a small bottle of dilute as you only get water and no chance of anything else if its night unless you go on the hunt for a vending machine.

when i had lulu, when i was taken to the ward after having her, i got a slice of dry toast, seriously, dry no butter or anything, no tea or hot drink. and the way she brought it to me was like she was bringing the crown jewels. so if the kitchen is closed i wouldnt hold out any hope for owt to eat this time either.

i am planning on taking some snacks but not made up my mind what (i am going to be taking a suitcase at this rate)

oh and also last time i only had one bag for me and the baby, not seperate bags or anything and the midwife carried it to the ward for me and had a little snide comment about 'what have you got in there, the kitchen sink?'Hmm

Iwish · 23/05/2011 18:04

Hi ladies! Hope you are all ok? Im still here too :)

melly Grin at your list on the fridge!! Is that in case you forget to do through the pain lol. Poppy louise is lovely! It just flows so well.

Liz is that all they gave you to eat/drink!? Shock if they comment on your heavy bag this time tell them you have had to pack a mini fridge because they didn't feed you last time! Wink. I think Thomas is lovely too and I think it would be so nice if you could carry the name on.

Waves to klou madkatz and gruffalo

Sorry about this but I need a rant. I'm upset and annoyed:

I have just realised I have the right to be annoyed/upset. When we went for our 20 week scan last week we went strait to see my mum to tell her that we were having a lovely little boy. She said 'oh no I wanted a girl!' that upset me. Then yesterday we went for tea and said I was going to book a 4d scan and that I was excited and her response was ' why would you have one of them' and she pulled her face so I said no more.
Before I got pg she kept saying she wanted to be a nana and hoping it wouldn't be long.
Why do I feel like she doesn't care and isn't interested in my little one. DPs mum has been the complete opposite!!

Melly19MummyToBe · 23/05/2011 18:29

I've put a couple of bottles of evian in the freezer to take with me, that way they stay cold for ages :o they are also on my 'list of stuff to do when in labour' :o Food wise I'm not sure on what to take, neither of us like cereal/muesli bars which is what a lot of people recommend to take for energy, so I'm not really sure at all. Probably end up taking biscuits, crisps and chocolate bars to be honest!

I have 2/3 bags, my hospital bag, changing bag, and possibly a carrier bag with simons trainers in. Hopefully I should be able to fit food stuffs in my hospital bag, if not then I will have 3/4 bags Shock crap. And I thought I was doing so well to have only 2 Hmm

Melly19MummyToBe · 23/05/2011 19:12

Lol Iwish, it's mainly for simon to be honest, I know he'll be in a flap so I wrote the list mainly for his benefit :o

It's a shame your mum doesn't seem as excited as she should Iwish, I bet once she gets round to the idea of having a grandson instead of a granddaughter she will be really enthusiastic and excited! I remember when my sister found out she was having a boy both me and my mum were disappointed it wasn't a girl, but we soon came round to the idea and were really excited!

My MIL doesn't seem interested really, considering this is her first official grandchild (not counting her older sons partners 2 brats kids), I know she is excited, she just doesn't show it! She has bought things and made a few blankets, but she never asks after me or the baby, she never seems interested in how we are or anything like that. She even had the bloody cheek to say her neices scan photos looked just the same as mine Angry Gah!

Anyway, sorry about that little rant :o I'm sure your mum will get really excited, if not during your pregnancy, then she sure as hell will when he's born!

Iwish · 23/05/2011 20:00

I hope she does get excited soon because everytime I think about it I just want to cry. She supposed to be the one I turn to!
When I got home from work earlier I sat on the sofa having a sulk. I had my had on my belly saying come on little boy mummy needs a kick to make her feel better and then came the wriggles!!! Make me cry lol. I'm such a softie!
Angry at your MIL for saying that about your scan.
Any by sounds of it you may need a suitcase for the hospital Grin

lizandlulu · 23/05/2011 21:38

ahh iwishits a shame your mum cant be abit more supportive for you. i wonder if its just cause she deosnt know how to feel? my mum is abit like yours. dont get me wrong, we are close and i would turn to her before anyone else, but we dont see eye to eye on alot of things. she has said several times that she wants a boy this time, i dont think she thins about how it makes me feel if it is a girl.

sometimes if you feel strongly about something then you have just got to say it and stand by your choice. like the 4d scan, if you want one, have one, tell her when it is and just go, dont seek her approval.

like with my mum and names. every girls namei like, she takes the piss out of but i will call it what i like. she has nicknamed the bump 'felt-tip' 'cause its more of a name than crystal'Hmm

Iwish · 23/05/2011 21:57

My mum is the same with his name Liz. She doesn't like Joshua and pulled a face again and tried to suggest her own names.
I will book my scan and tell get when it Is and if she wants to see the pics after she can ask me. I go running to show her and MIL strait away but maybe if u show her that I'm not going to she might try harder. My dad actually said he was really happy when I called to tell him. Mum just moaned and went showing her colleagues the pic saying he's massive. (she works at the hospital as a nurse)
aww that's not v nice calling your bump that! Mums are wierd aren't they. They like a lot of different names to us and I suppose they need to accept it.
I bet if they read these posts they would understand how we feel.

lizandlulu · 24/05/2011 09:30

i have told my mum that she pisses me off. always criticising, about the way i deal with lulu, my house everything. but thats just the way she is. i have joked with her that if she ever gives me a compliment i would have to sit down in shock! i put alot of it down to having lost a son (my brother) she fails to see the brighter side of life and always looks on the worse side.
she says she does compliment me, but she must say it in her head cause it never comes out her mouth!

even dad knows what i mean. if he suggests going somewhere, the first thing out her mouth will be 'but they might not be open' or something else like that, not cause she doesnt want to go, just looks on the down side ALL the time!

Iwish · 24/05/2011 12:01

Are you sure we don't have the same mother Liz?! Mine is exactly the same!! I was telling my nan after the scan about her reaction and she said to Ignore her and that she just doesn't do excited/happy. Great!
Anyway sod them, we will just have to be twice as happy and excited. And will just have to compliment eachother!

Well I'm currently in work and I just can't be bothered!! I want to go homeland put my feet up. Oooh and eat ice-cream!

lizandlulu · 24/05/2011 13:18

i am in my last week at work, wooohoooooooo!!!!! just the nature of the job makes it not really safe for me to be here in case i get knocked or anything, plus i am off all tomorrow and thursday morning so not got long leftGrin

Iwish · 24/05/2011 18:22

Wish I was on my last week. I still have 14 weeks to work!! I'm finishing 4 weeks before little man is due.
Best that you aren't at work tho if it's a safety risk. How many weeks have you got left till your little one is due?
