Mum's away til 23rd June and don't want to worry her on hol. Am seeing MW Tuesday so if I still feel a bit Hmm i'll have a word.

So cute Iwish! And your scan pic is really clear. You're looking fab BTW, love your dress!!

I know what you mean Liz with the clothes. There are some lovely boys clothes as well as girls and am really torn!!

Iwish · 18/05/2011 19:49

Thanks ladies, I was so proud walking through asda with my little boys clothes haha!

klou thanks. It was for a 70s do, I felt huge in it. I'm not really that big honest haha. Although I did seem to have trouble keeping keeping my boobs in it!
If you still feel a bit dodgy you could always just phone your MW, I'm sure she would pit your mind at rest.

Liz DP and I always looked at girly clothes but then something just clicked and I just thought bubba was a boy. Do you think your little one is a boy? Off to mothercare this weekend! We havnt been before!

I put my 12 week scan pic on 'in gender' and they all guessed that my little one was a boy.

lizandlulu · 18/05/2011 20:32

yes iwish i think its a boy. i will be shocked if it is a girl.

klou do you feel shaken up? might be that making you feel odd.

does anyone know anything about blood clots? i convinced myself this morning thta i had one! i said about the mottled bruising on my leg didnt i? well early this morning i got the worst cramp i have ever felt, proper painful and its left me with an ache all down the back of my leg all day, like it needs a good stretch. i was thinking it might be a blood clot moving. but i am just being silly right???

i am not so worried that i have asked midwife or anything like that, i hate to disturb them when they are busy.

Iwish · 18/05/2011 20:44

Liz I woke up at 6am with the worst leg cramp I have ever had!! I woke up almost crying and all day it's felt very sore. I read on the Internet that pregnant women are prone to getting leg cramps.
DP was panicking because he didn't know what was wrong for ages because I couldn't get my words out haha.

lizandlulu · 18/05/2011 21:26

i know its prob just cramp, but doesnt stop you thinking does itGrin

Melly19MummyToBe · 18/05/2011 22:56

Congratulations on your boy Iwish!! I bet you can't wait to get in mothercare, here's a tip, don't go in there with a credit card :o Thats a lovely pic of him, so clear! I love your dress by the way aswell! It's gorgeous!!

Klou if you are worried ring your midwife, they are used to pregnant women ringing up worrying about things :) I should say if bubba is moving around loads then it's more than likely all ok! Try not to chase after the dogs too much in future though!

I get leg cramps all the time. But I manage to avoid the worst of the pain, by stretching my leg straight (bloody painful I know but it works!) and lifting my toes up as much as possible, stretching all your calf muscles, it really works and I don't get sore legs anymore from it.

Madkatz I really hope you sort it out with your DH, I'm thinking of you :)

MadKatz · 19/05/2011 08:01

Hello Ladies,

Congratulations on your boy Iwish x

DH and I are talking and at the moment just trying to sort things out in the house, taking things slowly.

Spoke to my Dad on the phone last night. He's very angry/upset about the whole thing, about how DH speaks to me and how he spoke to him. He doesn't want to come back up until the baby is here and then he said he wont stay just to visit. So there were tears again last night Sad

GruffaloMama · 19/05/2011 08:37

Oh madkatz, that's horrible. I agree with the others - it's incredibly stressful doing the whole move thing plus new job plus dawning realisation that there is a baby on the way. That doesn't excuse his behaviour mind you. Hopefully when things have settled down he can Get some more perspective and pull himself together. Dads are difficult too, aren't they? Mine is still so protective of me that if dh and I have a barney I can see he's itching to get involved. Dread to think what dh would do if we have a daughter...

Speaking of which I had a complete meltdown this morning. In the night I tripped on stuff in our room when going to the pop which made my pelvis worse. Couldn't get back to sleep for ages. Dug clothes out of a laundry basket to get dressed (clean, honest) then couldn't find shoes and stuff fell on me. Had a complete sense of humour failure and burst into tears. Dh got a right cob on and told me I was being irrational. So fed up.

liz I would call the midwife about your leg. Am sure it prob is just cramp but I'm sure they'd rather see 20 leg cramps than miss one blood clot. It is what they're there for.

iwish congratulations! On phone so can't see the scan piccie yet but will look if I can when I get home.

klou hope you're feeling better after your fall.

melly has poppy been turn round any more, do you reckon? My bump has been doing some very odd things. It was long crosswise yesterday. Really uncomfortable. But seems back to normal now.

KLou111 · 19/05/2011 18:46

Has Poppy turned Melly?

Hope your feeling a bit better Gruffalo

Been feeling baby OK, so assume everything is OK in there :)

Got my pram today from mum and dads, LOVE IT!!! must say the car seat is a bit heavier than the rest that we saw, but we knew that, but needed the lie flat option. It's so easy to set up and change the car seat to pushchair seat, and fold up etc. Took about half hour to work it all out, but easy once you know how lol. Just need to 'teach' DH now! Can't wait to have bubba in it now!!!

OP posts:
Iwish · 19/05/2011 18:57

Thanks melly it was only £14! and I will defo not be taking a credit card with me haha!! I would end up spending a fortune.
How on earth you managed to stretch your leg when it was cramping?! I couldn't do anything was just say there almost crying lol!

Thanks gruffalo and madkatz. I'm so happy we found out! I hope you are both feeling better, both you poor ladies havnt had a good few days. X

klou glad you like your pram, bet you have been 'driving' it round the house imagining little one being in there hehe.

Ok soppy alert!.... Was sat at work today with my scan pic of my lovely little boy on my desk and just spent ages staring at the pic thinking how much I love him already and how much I love DP. I'm so happy with our little family and can't wait to meet our little boy!

KLou111 · 19/05/2011 20:09

Ditto Iwish it's the greatest thing isn't it??? I am the happiest I have ever ever ever been, ever!!!!
Have been watching our vid every day and I can't watch it without crying!! Went to DH's grandparents today and told them I couldn't watch it with them lol!

Yes had a little go with the pram, but all back in the box now :)

OP posts:
Iwish · 19/05/2011 20:24

It is the best thing ever! I find myself sat in the car talking to my little bump telling him how much me and daddy love him. DP has even decided he wants to take little one to play golf lol! He's only been twice himself.
Awww I bet you can't stop yourself from blubbing! your pics are so sweet so I can't imagine what the video is like. I'm going to book ours next week for 28 weeks.
I'm pretty sure I'm being kicked now. Sat watching tv and keep feeling little kicks around where his feet are Grin

lizandlulu · 20/05/2011 10:42

right, you lot are making me feel bad! i dont feel soppy at all, and didnt cry at any scans or picsHmm i even think one of the photos makes it look like a garden gnomeHmm

iwish for me the kicks are the only good thing about pregnancy, the rest is pantsSmile

lizandlulu · 20/05/2011 10:43

oh and have you recovered from your fall now klou?

Iwish · 20/05/2011 13:28

Awww Liz we don't mean to make you feel bad. I'm nit usually so soppy, must be the hormones haha!! Lol about the garden gnome!!! My dad said one of our 12 week pics looks like a duck!

Melly19MummyToBe · 20/05/2011 14:32

My little sisters 12 week scan photo looked more like a wolf! My dad and step mum wern't impressed with that comment :o

Poppy is head down, right down apparantly! Midwife didn't actually say if she was engaged or not and I didn't think to ask. But she was feeling around and she got quite low down and she went "My goodness, there's her shoulders!"

Iwish, I know stretching your leg when it's cramping is extremely painful, but as soon as it's straight and your foot is bent up with toes up too, the pain vanishes! You just have to grit your teeth and bare it I'm afraid! I only discovered this when I had cramp a while ago and simon grabbed my leg and pulled it straight and it was fine. I was like "OWWWWWWEEEEEE OW OWWW.... oooh it's gone!"

Liz don't feel bad about not feeling soppy, you've done all this before remember!?! So for you it's not a new thing, if you see what I mean? For us newbies it's all "OMGOSH I love my bump blah blah blah etc etc!" My sister was the same when she was PG with her second :)

Klou how are you feeling after your fall? Bubba ok?

lizandlulu · 20/05/2011 15:09

oh melly it can be soon then!!! how excited/nervous are you? or are you all prepared? can i give you abit of advice, tell me to sod off, but i really would try and stay as mobile as possible when in labour. the gravity is really ment to help bring the baby down which does make sense really. i am going to try and do that, although you watch i will be laid on the bed the whole time againGrin

i do think i am abit more blase about the whole thing this time. prob cause it is my second time, its not all new. but i am slightly sad about this being the last few weeks i will ever feel a baby inside me cause i am not doing this ever again!

KLou111 · 20/05/2011 15:22

OMG Melly how scary you're nearly there!!!!

Lol Liz with the soppy thing :) totally understandable. I go from can I please just have the baby now, to rubbing my bump and loving him/her in there rather than what's to come IYSWIM lol!! Hope we have a good baby!! LOL at the garden gnome!!

Baby is moving any time I am still, eat or drink, so more or less all the time, and no more aches. I did have bad wind for a couple of days so it may have been that making me crampy. God don't you just get so paranoid?!?!?

Saw a friend for coffee earlier and she was like OMG are you even pregnant?!?! I was like shall I take that as a compliment that I am not huge or an insult?? TBH I am in my normal jeans today, and a normal top, and I do just look 'a bit fat' rather than preg lol!

OP posts:
Melly19MummyToBe · 20/05/2011 15:45

I'm not really sure if I'm nervous or not to be honest. I'd say it's a bit like taking a lamb to the slaughter. It hasn't a clue what's going to happen to it until it gets there! Liz, sod off. No I'm joking :o I'm going to stay mobile for as long as possible. My midwife was telling me that she has had countless people saying they want to keep moving, and give birth standing up/squatting/on all fours etc, but in reality she can count on one hand the amount of people who actually did it. Most people who said thats what they wanted usually ended up on their backs with their legs akimbo! And she has been a midwife a long time. Just found out she actually delivered me! How bizarre is that!?!

When she's here and I'm back on the computer I promise to come and tell you all the gory details :o

I know what you mean Klou, everytime I think about feeling Poppy move I just panic and think "Shit! When did she last move? I can't remember!" even if it was only about half an hour ago Confused I'm glad bubba is ok, maybe a bit grumpy at you but otherwise fine :o

lizandlulu · 20/05/2011 17:02

well hopefully you wont be too long in labour melly but the pain really does get to you. i remember being close to pushing, and mum and chris were having a conversation looking out the window. they were going 'ohh whats that blue light over there?' and they were saying its the catherdral. but in my head i was saying 'no its the cinema' but was in so much pain i couldnt even open my mouth to speakSad and had a change of midwife 3 times as i was in labour for 29 hours so they changed shifts alot!

plus i didnt get the urge to push, i had to have the midwife tell me when by feeling my stomach for contractions, if not i would have just laid there all night sucking on the gas and airGrin

KLou111 · 20/05/2011 17:33

Lol liz :) I am absolutely petrified of the birth TBH. So much so I think I will have the urge to suck it in rather than push it out!!
I think I may ask to be put to sleep lol! No seriously though, I know it's the most lovliest thing, but if I actually thought about it hard enough, the birth would have been enough for me not to get pregnant, but I just keep thinking, it's only a few hours, it's only a few hours!

OP posts:
Melly19MummyToBe · 20/05/2011 17:49

Gosh 29 hours. I hope mine doesn't last that long, my step mum was in labour for 73 hours and ended up having an emergency ceasarean. My sister was about 10 hours with her first I think. Gas and air sounds so much fun. My best friend said when she was in labour she had g&a and it felt like she was floating. My BIL had the g&a after my nephew was born (they forgot to switch it off), and he was absolutely hysterical, he collapsed on the floor crying with laughter :o

Iwish · 20/05/2011 18:54

Wow 29 hours Liz! I really hope I have labour like my mum, 4 hours with me and 1 hour with my brother (she was only at the hospital 15 mins before he was born!!)

klou I keep telling myself the same thing, it won't last forever and it'll all be worth it...

Eek melly! head down planning her escape!! Grin

Forgot to tell you, not that you want to know lol but the sonographer needs me to go back at 32 weeks for another scan because the placenta is low - overlying the OS! Hope it moves!! Do any of you know much about it?

I am absolutely starving!!! Waiting for my friend to come round and we are having a pizza, yum!

lizandlulu · 20/05/2011 19:24

whats OS iwish i know that if its blocking the exit route Grin then you will have to have cesarean, all depends how low it is. i dont think they move very much do they?

and you are ment to take after your mothers in labour, so if your mum had a short one then its likely you will too. mine was longer than mums but she did have a long first labour then cesarean with me cause she had placenta praevia, which i think is low lying placenta.(not sure though)

Melly19MummyToBe · 20/05/2011 19:46

I think she's definitely going to come early, my mums first baby (my big brother) was 2 months early, I don't think Poppy will be that early though. But you never know. . . . . Not sure how long the labour was though.

Iwish I haven't a clue about low-lying placentas, or what an OS is? Am I just being really dumb here?
