Hi everyone. Back from our hols. Was luverly and sunny. We spent just about every day at the beach with DS and the dog. Picnics and sandcastles aplenty...

Melly so sorry to hear that you're so uncomfy. Have you had a referral for physio for your shoulder - or maybe a chiropractor/osteopath?

Bella is gorgeous Klou - has she been okay overnight? Good idea to get a pup now.

Madkatz all change for you - glad it's going well. Did the midwife appointment go okay?

Liz did the GTT go alright? I'm due another one in a couple of weeks. Have pigged out on hols but back on the wagon tomorrow with low sugar living...

BTW just found out today that DS was born facing up - the wrong way round if you know what I mean - they're meant to come out facing backwards. I never realised. I knew he was back-to-back for the labour but assumed that he had turned during the labour (one of the reasons it was long and pretty painful). But I was reading about things I can do to make sure this baby's in a better position before labour and DH said 'oh, DS was born facing up - isn't that how they're meant to be?'. Kind of made sense that getting the little bugger darling out was a bit tricky!

KLou111 · 25/04/2011 17:17

Hi all. What fantastic weather it has been!!! Makes a change for bank hol lol!

So glad you had a fab time Gruffalo what a week of weather you had!

Melly sounds like you have had enough now, so sorry your suffering with everything and your shoulder is still giving you problems.

Well, here, we've had DH's brother and a friend here for the weekend, and they've just left. Lovely weekend, and totally enjoyed it completely start to finish, but you don't half feel better when people have left.

Feel knackered as Bella got us up at 5:50am Sat morning, 5:20am yesterday morning, then just as I thought we would have a lie in this morning, our other dog started whinging at 7:30am and subsequently woke her up! Little bugger! She only started crying the first 2 mornings to be fair as she needed the loo, which was great as at least she told us. Only had a couple of little wee accidents. She's settled right in really quick and is so lovely, into everything though! Can't even sweep up without her attacking the broom :)

Glad we got her now though as don't think I could have coped with a puppy and a baby!

Oh re the facing the wrong way thing Gruffalo thanks for clearing that up. Knew one way was the wrong way but didn't know which. So baby should be facing down, got it :)

Hi Ladies,

MW appointment was fine thanks gruffalo. Heard the heartbeat for the first time and it was lovely. Needless to say I have asked DH to order me a doppler to use at home! So it was 3 days in a row, DH's job, house and baby's heartbeat. very happy.

Glad everything is going well with Bella Klou. Wish we could get a dog, we'd both love one and DP has promised when we buy our own place...mission impossible! but I know he's right.

Melly19MummyToBe · 26/04/2011 16:40

Sounds like you're having fun with Bella then Klou :o my sisters dog loves attacking the hoover, you'd think he would've gotten over it by now though, he's 5 this year :o

I'm glad you had a great holiday Gruffalo, I'm so jealous! You went to Cornwall didn't you? Which part did you go to?

You did have a good week then didn't you Madkatz! Did your DH agree to getting you a doppler? I hope he did :o I'd have loved one but it's a bit late to get one now, what with there only being a few weeks left Confused

I'm going to ask MW about my shoulder next friday when I see her again. Hopefully she can refer me to somewhere helpful.
I've heard that babies are meant to come out face down but when the heads out they turn sideways to get the shoulders out easier.

I can smell chicken sandwich spread Confused Haven't had chicken spread for MONTHS!!!

MadKatz · 27/04/2011 09:42

Doppler has been despatched! DH agreed to buy that for me for Easter because I didn't want chocolate.

Found out this morning he isn't entitled to any paternity leave as he won't have been in his new job long enough. Sad

lizandlulu · 28/04/2011 09:46

hiya all... i'm bacckkkkk!!!!Grin

missed me??

i am so glad you are all well, apart from your uncomftorbaleness melly i hope the weather doesnt get too hot for you over the next 6 weeks. this week seems to be alot more seasonal.

i have had a very strange time sincei last came on here, nothing to worry about, but did i tell you i was going away for the weekend in that horsebox/motorhome thing, then to centreparcs with the in lawss for 2 days.

well turns out i had a kind of panic attack thing at the nightime in the horsebox. our bed was above the cab, full size double bed so not liek i couldnt get comfy, but i was just so aware of there not being any windows or light or air and having to go down a huge ladder to get out, i had to get up and walk about in the middle of the night doing deep breathing. some friends were staying on the other 2 beds so i couldnt even sleep in a different place, so didnt go to sleep till it started to go light at about half 4. god i felt rough!

got to go ,will tell you more later

KLou111 · 28/04/2011 12:40

Oh God Liz the horsebox sounds a nightmare!!! Hope you had a good time regardless though. Bet it was nice to get away for a bit.

Well, went to take my weekly piccy today, and OMG I look huge!!! I can't even suck it in!! Didn't get it right so will have to retake it later when I get a bit of privacy (we have a friend here at the moment putting us up a wall in our bedroom for an en-suite woohoo, can't wait to have 2 loos again!) [cgrin]

Loving the crown smileys [csmile]

DId you get your doppler Madkatz??

MadKatz · 28/04/2011 12:51

wb Liz

Hi KLou yeah it arrived yesterday. just having some trouble finding the heart beat, can only hear it very faintly at the mo. But we have loads of gel so will keep trying.

KLou111 · 28/04/2011 17:03

Oh, fab Madkatz!! Usually in the middle below my belly button is where I mostly find my little one's. Make sure it's the HB not the placenta that's what I did! Placenta is a whoosh whoosh whoosh and HB is a dum dum dum :)

morning all.

what are you all doing today? i am at work but got the wedding on the telly, i am not really too bothered about it to be honest and think it would be funny if kate decided she couldnt go through with it and not turn upGrin (i am evil!!)

KLou111 · 29/04/2011 11:44

ha ha Liz bit bored watching it now TBH. DH had it on since 8:30 in the background, he's watching it with a hangover, and I've just been cleaning and showering etc trying to pass the time. Wish it would hurry up, the weather is gorgeous and want to get on, not bothered about it but feel I have to watch it!

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 29/04/2011 12:45

well its all over and done with now. i didnt like the dress or flowers, thought she would have had something abit more extravagant than that, but the veil looked lovely, really nice material, not stiff or sticky outy at all.

gruffalo i forgot to tell you my GTT went ok, not heard anything from them so i must be ok. but god it did make me feel sick. i got to the hospital an hour early casue i didnt know what the traffic would be like, turns out there was none, then had to drink that great big bottle on an empty stomach, bleugh. but did make the baby kick alot afterSmile

it seems to be moving loads just lately which i love! when i had the midwife app last week she measured me andi was measuring 24 weeks at 25 weeks, no idea how as i look huuugggeee, but i feel the kicks alot higher than where she felt for the top of my uterus, do you think thats right? i reasoned that my stomach must push it up throughout the day?

GruffaloMama · 29/04/2011 19:29

Hi Liz. Glad the GTT went okay. That stuff is disgusting isn't it? Horse box sounds rough. We're going camping in June at a festival. I might not fit in our tent by then!

I'm off for a GTT on Wednesday and then midwife appointment on Friday. Guess I'll get measured then. I reckon my bump is big too but guess they're measuring your uterus rather which might be smaller than it seems. If you're still worried ay your next appointment I'd just check with the midwife.

How is everyone else? Hope you've all got lovely weekends planned.

lizandlulu · 29/04/2011 21:18

gruffalo i dont usually mind lucozade, but on an empty stomach it just made me heave after the first few mouthfulls! i saw her open the bottle and take a tiny bit out and thought 'oh they have reduced the amount i have got to drink' theres me thinking i only had to drink the cap ful, then she gave me the rest of the bottle! i sat there burping away infront of herGrin

got to see midwife again at 28 weeks which is the week after next. scary!
i really need to get my arse into gear and organise my baby stuff

KLou111 · 30/04/2011 09:41

Glad all went OK Liz
I didn't like her dress or the flowers either, I said the flowers were really boring and the dress just looked too old, not young and modern. I think simple and elegant what what someone said, but I thought boring!

All well this end, need to check what I was measured at actually, as I leave my book in the car (after forgetting it twice!!) so will have a look.
Just put new bump pic up, and I actually have a bump now Grin it's lovely to finally have one.
Baby has been kicking me practically non stop it seems for the last 36 hours, and that's lovely too.
Sooooo excited now, can't wait to meet him/her. Still so much to do at our house though it seems.

Friend been here since Wednesday, and on Thurs him and DH built a new wall in our bedroom to house a new en-suite, which is fab, so got to order the stuff to go in it now. DH got to tile bathroom floor (should only take a day), get someone to plaster lounge, carpet lounge, dec nursery and carpet, and finally the garden.
Seems like a lot, but hoping to still be on schedule for end of May, but we're off to the Midlands again for a week to 10 days in a couple of weeks, so probably be by end of June. DH just wants a bit of 'time off' before bubba, so think he'll be happy with 6 weeks as long a bubba is 'on time'.

Got friends here for the weekend (wife and son of friend already here came yesterday) so going down the beach for the day in a bit and having a BBQ and all that jazz. Gorgeous weather here again :)

Sorry for the huge post. What's going on with everyone else xx

PS now addicted to fruit mentos and jelly babies!!!

KLou111 · 01/05/2011 11:27

Hi again all :)

No measurement in my book so couldn't find out if measuring OK, but MW didn't say otherwise so assume all OK.

I had a really bad pain in the bottom of my throat last night. It felt like when you've swallowed something and it's not gone down properly. I couldn't lie down to go to sleep as it was just coming up and burning my throat. At one point I felt like trying to make myself sick to see if I could get it to stop, but eventually fell asleep.
Had some friends here and asked if she thought it was to do with pregnancy and she said it could have been heartburn and get the Gaviscon ready lol!!

Anyway, off for a little sleep. Friends have just left, and can now relax. They have a devil child and he has no manners, no respect and doesn't listen to anyone, and he's only 6!!! Both our dogs are fast asleep (very unusual) as they've had enough. He's enough to put you off kids for life!!!

Evening ladies! How is everybody and hows everyones long weekend been? Mine has been ok, we went to Scarborough for the day yesterday, had a great time even though my shoulder was in agony by the time we left. We have FINALLY finished the nursery! The only thing thats not done is the cot. We decided that we're not going to build it till she's big enough to go in it just incase she doesn't like sleeping in our room and still too small for the cot.

Anyone know where Iwish is? She hasn't been on for ages, starting to get a little worried!

Bleurgh I hate kids like that Klou, I don't envy you at all! I bet in his parents eyes he was "a sweet angel who can do no wrong!"

5 weeks to go! Getting nervous now lol.

lizandlulu · 02/05/2011 21:01

evening ladiesSmile

we have been racing to skegness for the weekend again, but in the caravan this time, not the hoserbox (it has no tax and we dont yet have the log book, long story) so now i am totally knackered as i never sleep very well when im not in my own bed.

klou you could be describing my lulu[grin[ not really shes not too bad, although i am sure she is the reason my best mate cant bring herself to have kids yetGrin

melly is your shoulder to do with being pregnant then? do you think it might go after? whats scarborough like? i have never been.

i came home this morning with lulu as i didnt want to stay for the racing cause dh wasnt actually racing himself, so stopped at the garden centre, farm park and toys r us on the way home. i have ordered the winnie the pooh moses basket which they say will be here 15th of may, although i know i lady in cambs who had been waiting for one for weeks. they are low on stock as it is popular, but i have ordered it early to should get it in time, i hopeSmile bought the matching cot bed quilt and coverlet and changing mat and uplighter, even though its not going to be the cot for a long time, thoughti may as well get it while its there.

KLou111 · 02/05/2011 21:16

Glad you've had great weekends.

Your shoulder sounds owwwweeeeee melly glad you finished nursery though :)

Started our nursery today Grin Been full of junk since we moved in July 2009, forgot how much bigger the room is!! Stripped the wallpaper and the artex (bloody awful stuff!) taken me all day, but very happy with it. DH going to try his hand at plastering it :) Otherwise it's a liner paper jobbie. Oooooooo it's all exciting :)

Liz moses basket sounds fab :)

lizandlulu · 02/05/2011 21:45

klou sorry i forgot to mention your pain, have you had heartburn before? i dont know what the difference is between heartburn and indegestion, if there is a difference, but for me it just feels like a acidy burning pain in my throat, really not nice. like if you made yourself sick it might go away, but that dont workSad

if you mention it to your midwife next time she can prescribe gaviscon, i got the choice of the usual mint, or anniseedShock why ever you would want anniseed i have no idea!

i am glad you have started on your nursery too. i think i have scared dh into doing it this week cause i said i only have 13 weeks left, andi f i do have it 3 weeks early, which i know its not likely but he's not to knowWink then that leaves 10 weeksGrin recons he's starting it tomorrow after work.

(we have artex in our first house 12 years ago, we ended up just painting over itGrin)

Melly19MummyToBe · 02/05/2011 22:43

Congratulations on the bump by the way Klou!
I found Gaviscon doesn't work for long. I got the aniseed, no idea why anyone would want the mint one Confused I also tried the Gaviscon tablets, strawberry flavour. The first time I had them I almost threw up. They're like chewing on hard strawberry yoghurt and disgusting! To be honest, I find that milk works better than Rennies or Gaviscon!

Liz Scarborough is lovely, but it's very busy and not a good place for walking while 35 weeks pregnant, it's really hilly if you leave the seafront to walk into town! It's so much easier to hop on the tram to the top of town then walk all the way down the hill past the shops.

I have no idea what my shoulder is to do with. I thought it was RSI from work, constantly doing that same thing every day (washing up) but just walking hurts it, standing up for more than about 10 minutes at a time hurts, and even sitting in certain positions/on certain seats can hurt! I need to go back to the doctor see what he can do about it.

Also, when you get to 30+ weeks pregnant, don't attempt bathing! Or at least while alone in the house. You will get stuck in the bath. I had a bath earlier, and had to ring simon to come upstairs to help me out because I couldn't lift myself up to get out Blush

lizandlulu · 03/05/2011 08:45

[grin[ melly thats a lovely vision first thing in the morningGrin at least you had the phone to hand!

i have found milk works well too, i havent actually been able to bring myself to have the gaviscon cause it is just disgusting. i did think about getting the strawberry tablets but wont bother!

klou it was the doc who prescribed it anyway, not the midwife, sorry i told you wrong.

how are you 2 sleeping? how are you getting on with the dreamgeni klou?

KLou111 · 03/05/2011 10:04

Morning all :)

lol Melly stuck in the bath Grin so funny!!

Never had heartburn before TBH. Had indigestion, a sharp pain in my chest area, but this was bloody awful. This was like you said, a acidy pain in the bottom of my throat. Friend said it may have been something that I ate and not used to eating. I ate quite a lot of bread that day, and although I eat bread, I had quite a lot that day. Not had it since so hoping it was that.
Will tell MW though.

Been sleeping so much more soundly now. Only waking up once in the night, if at all. Not using my pillow Liz, but once I have a bigger bump, I think I will.

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 03/05/2011 17:02

right, i have had a lsit of jobs to do, people to ring, things to sort out and top of the list was to order the pram. tried to do it on the internet on monday and it wouldnt accept my card for some reason! i have never been declined befroe, i wonder if i might have a limit on it. it came to £560 odd so might be that. i have got to order it and get it home then see if i like it, no one has it in a shop where i can actually see itSad

anyway going to go to the shop in grantham tomorrow after i pick lulu up from school and order it and pay cash. i bloody hate credit/debit cards!!!
