That's great Gruffalo, bet it's a huge relief to be able to have a 'normal' birth.
The designer stuff sounds fab Melly, but if I was let loose I'd probably be in serious debt when I came out lol!!

Well, I'm off now. Have a fab weekend all, hope the sun shines down on you all. (I'm still wishing it to go quickly for you Iwish :) )

good news for you then gruffalo i bet you are relieved about the headGrin
i have got my GTT booked for end of next month, not particularily looking forward to it, but got to be done. got to be at the hospital for 9 am and its half an hour away so got to have mum look after dd for the night before so she hasnt got to be up at the crack of dawn. (shes off school that week)

Melly19MummyToBe · 26/03/2011 13:21

Thats great news Gruffalo! I'm really happy for you :) I bet you're so relieved.

I'm quite relieved, my sisters wedding has to be next year now, the only date everyone could do was 2nd july, but the church weren't taking any bookings for that day. So it will be next sumer when hopefully I will be nice and slim :)

Liz, that shop is in the Bailgate in Lincoln, and it's actually called Noa Noa, it has a website here

Went to Newark today, we went in Mothercare and my neice weed on the floor. On the bit of floor that was carpeted. That Mothercare is TINY compared to the lincoln one Shock

Well. I have just scared myself shitless. I decided to watch a few waterbirths on youtube, and then ended up watching a couple of normal ones too. I probably shouldn'tve done that. How on earth is a baby supposed to come out of there????? Confused There was this one woman, who pushed the head out and had a bit of a rest, so there was just this head poking out of her fanjo for about 5 minutes and it looked REALLY strange.

lizandlulu · 26/03/2011 19:22

melly i live in newark!!!!!!!! i was in mothercare today too!!!!! didnt see no weeing kids thoughGrin i bought a baby bath from there so if you saw some fat woman with a stroppy kid trailing behind with ratty hair and struggling with a baby bath, that was me!!!

lizandlulu · 26/03/2011 19:24

i have just read oyur prifile and didnt realise you live in gainsborough!! so close!!

Melly19MummyToBe · 26/03/2011 21:12

haha no I don't think I did see you lol, to be honest I wouldn't really have noticed, too busy drooling over the gorgeous baby clothes and trying to look like I wasn't with the 2yo who peed on the carpet :o we were gonna go to the wetherspoons (can't remember it's proper name) there but it was well skanky inside, so we went around the corner to the Old Post Office instead, took forever to actually get some food though lol.

Gainsborough is crap really, the only place to get decent baby clothes is tesco, that's it! Nowhere to buy actual stuff Hmm We usually go to Lincoln but fancied a change of scenery.

lizandlulu · 26/03/2011 21:25

no i wouldnt be seen dead in weatherspoons unless i was on a night out, all the drunks go in there all day, and to be honest the post office service is crap. i have only been in there once, but wouldnt rave about it.

my mum loves gainsborough! we sometimes go and park in marshalls yard, sit and have a costa then browse round, its nice, apart form it takes forever to get there i think! cause its all single road. i go to lincoln alot too, we will have to meet up with i am on mat leave tooSmile

Iwish · 27/03/2011 10:40

Hi all!

Hope you all have had a nice weekend?

22 hours to go until my scan!! Soo nervous and excited!

I spent Friday night getting frustrated and crying at the washing machine lol. DP spilt diesel on his trousers and they were in with my work clothes and pretty much most of my leggings and after 5 washes they still stunk! Was so upset. Hormones eh!

KLou111 · 27/03/2011 18:31

Afternoon all!!
OMG Melly an Liz can't believe you were in the same shop on the same day, how strange is that!!

I watched some waterbirths and normal births on youtube a while ago Melly, not good to look at. Been speaking to mum about it all this weekend as I am so scared of it all. They can cut me open at this rate!!

Still wishing the weekend away for you Iwish. Re the diesel thing, I had the same a few years ago and took me so many washes to get it out. Our bedding and everything stank! Good luck with it. I put our machine on 3 or 4 times with fabric softener just to get the smell out of the drum :(

Just ordered a baby bath and top and tail thing from amazon. Got the Tippitoes ones (the white ones). Mum has been telling me how to do it all. Sounds very complicated, but I am sure once we are in a routine, it'll become easier.

Also said about binning the moses basket and putting baby straight in cot. Not really a problem, just she said that the moses basket will be more cosy at first, and easier if BF if in our room for the first few weeks.

I think I am more scared than ever now lol, so much to take in!!

Had a fab night last night. Was great to dress up, loads of food and great entertainment.

Friggin limo never turned up though. Mum phoned them as 15 mins late, and was fuming when she got off. Couldn't then get a cab as too shirt notice by then so we drove there in 2 cars (6 of us) and I drove us home in our pickup (DH went in the boot bless him! It's a newish one so he was relatively comfy!)

Will put up a piccy :)

GruffaloMama · 27/03/2011 21:00

Hi all. Have been off at a friend's place for the weekend. Knackered as I slept with DS. Between him kicking me in the ribs in his sleep and the bean jumping up and down on my bladder I didn't get the best night's kip! ut otherwise a lovely weekend.

Iwish will be thinking of you tomorrow - that first scan is simultaneously so exciting and so nerve-wracking. Shame about the limo Klou and giggling about your DH stuck in the boot.

Hi Melly. Shame about your neice but I used to work in mothercare - believe me - she won't have been the first one to widdle on the floor. We had mothers' waters breaking in our place. Ref the birth thing - I think that most births look horrific. But when you're giving birth you're away from the business end of it, IYSWIM? And you'll have lots of other stuff to keep you occupied. You can let the midwife know how much you want to see/know what's going on (and you can change your mind). Before DS was born DH categorically didn't want to cut the cord but actually when it came to it he did want to. And that was fine.

lizandlulu · 27/03/2011 22:01

evening all, i am glad you have all had god weekends (dispite the hiccups klou)

iwish i will be thinking of you too, let us know asap how it all goes.

we have been to skegness today with some friends, god i hate the place iwth a passion and next time dh says we will go there i am going to hit him hard on the head to knock the idea outAngry

klou i have been thinking alot about the birth too, i am scared of it lasting as long, which i know it probably wont, and terrified of something not going to plan, which i know it well might. but i have been thinking about my birthing plan and am going to keep a very open mind and just outline what i would LIKE to happen, but not get fixated on it. if something different happens then i have got to keep in mind that it will be whats best for our baby and me.

also still not feeling a whole lot, although i am sure it is punching me in the bowel. i can feel quite a few blows from inside ifyknim and it must be the arms as it is head down with its bum up and dont think its legs will reach.

i have also come to the conclusion that i think its a boy. everyone around me thinks it is, plus i would love a girl, so its bound to be a boy. but the more i think about it, the more i am not really bothered. it is what it is and i cant change it, but i can find pros and cons for both sexes so i am not really fussed what it is, as long as it is healthy.

i have decided on a moses basket too (i think Grin) its a starry night winnie the pooh one from babies r us. i am alos thinking of getting the border to seperate the 2 colours as dh might find that easier than doing the wave himself (melly he isnt up to it like yours was!)

its this and i could have all the matching accessories!

KLou111 · 27/03/2011 23:45

How cute does that baby look in that picture!!! Looks like a lovely basket Liz.

Felt baby really weirdly tonight. Was sitting watching TV and all of a suddenly I got a really really strong butterfly feeling (like in an orgasmic kind of way without sounding like an odd bod!) on the left hand side, which is where I always feel baby. Mum tried to have a feel but I was sat up and she couldn't feel anything. Started to make my eyes water a bit, it was that tickly if that makes sense. Hmm

Think I am getting a bump now, and now I've got it, I FEEL FAT!!! ha ha!
Ate loads last night, and I thought I was still bloated from that, but it hasn't gone all day, and that is quite odd for me as usually by lunch time, I am 'slimmer', but had a belly all day!! Think I am starting to actually look pregnant lol! Grin

Forgot to say earlier, i got my doppler out yesterday for my mum and dad, and I have been so pleased with myself that every time I can find the heartbeat straight away. So I put the doppler on for mum and dad, and sure enough, there it was, except, it wasn't. I've been listening to the bloody placenta!! What a complete muppet I am!!
Mum then found the heart, and sounded completely different, so I now know what I SHOULD be listening for!! She also was feeling around my belly for the edge of the uterus and she felt the baby moving. I couldn't feel anything, but she knew what she was feeling for. Tried to show DH, but he didn't have a clue either, it was just all strange for him lol.
According to the heart rate I am apparently having a girl, but she did say that's just speculation, so don't take it literally.

Night night, off to bed now.

Good luck in the morning Iwish Grin Grin Grin xx

Me again, just getting that odd strong feeling again, hope bubba doesn't keep me up with it. Brother in next room kept me up most of the night snoring, could really do with a good nights sleep!

OHH KLOU YOUR CRAVINGS AND HEARTBEAT ALL POINT TO A GIRL sorry about caps, but cant be arsed to re write it all.so what does the placenta sound like? you have got me worried that i am doing it wrong now tooHmm how lovely for your mum though to feel it. dh felt mine this morning for the first time. it was having a proper good wiggle about, maybe cause i was half laid on my front but it was really moving.

and i wonder what the funny feeling is? you might be one of these women who find the whole birthing experience 'orgasmic' Grin

Melly19MummyToBe · 28/03/2011 14:41

I'll take your word for it Gruffalo :o I suppose I will know exactly what you mean in about 10-ish weeks time!

And yes Liz, we really should :) when are you leaving/when are you 30 weeks? That moses basket is gorgeous, I'm getting a swinging crib later today for £40 off my grandmas friends daughters, I'm really chuffed about that because I originally wanted a crib but they're more expensive than baskets.

Klou YAY for bump!! Lol @ placenta :o
Looked at your pics from your dads party, you all look great! I love dressing up! That pink dress you're wearing makes you look pregnant, even though you already are. If you get what I mean?

Went to Ikea yesterday, Poppy has ended up with a bigger wardrobe than me! We got a three door one instead of a 2 door one and a chest of drawers. It's lovely though, it's not white like I wanted but it's softer than white and much more suitable for a baby, it's a kind of really pale bluey gray. It's from the 'Aspelund' collection :) when the doors are on I will take a photo of it.

Iwish let us know how the scan went! I'm dying to know!!!

lizandlulu · 28/03/2011 15:09

hiya melly yes i am leaving at about 30 weeks as long as my dad is back to full fitness.

just had a thought, i was told when i went for my scan that i had an anterior placenta which is why i wasnt feeling alot as it acts like a cushion, so i just googled it to find out where actually it is and its at the front of my uterus, so i presume at the front of my belly?

Melly19MummyToBe · 28/03/2011 15:24

You will be 30 weeks around the end of may/beginning of june won't you Liz? Or is that just my bad working out? And yes, I too would presume that anterior means at the front of your belly. Are you suspecting that you've been listening to your placenta aswell lol? :o

GruffaloMama · 28/03/2011 15:44

I think anterior does mean at the front - mine is too and it meant the sonographer had a job getting the angles for my 20 week scan.

GruffaloMama · 28/03/2011 15:50

Oh and I think I might have bloody sinusitis. Got to go to doctor this afternoon. feeling totally grim.

Iwish · 28/03/2011 16:05

Hi girlies. I'm sneaking on my phone at work so will check out your conversations Lara but scan went fab. I cried when i saw the screen! Im so in love with him/her already. They put me forward 3 days too xx

lizandlulu · 28/03/2011 16:14

iwish that is good newsSmile let us know the details later.

melly i will be 30 weeks in the last week of may. doesnt seem too far away! when are you due again? i dont thik i have been listening to my placenta as i find it more to the side, right hand side to be exact, which is where its back would be curved round, so i hope its right!

gruffalo do you feel as much as you did with your ds? or can you tell a difference? sorry you are feeling rubbish, keep your fluids up!

GruffaloMama · 28/03/2011 18:19

Brill news iwish

Liz this bean is quieter than DS was - he had hiccups a lot. But feeling more and more movements every day. DH can now nearly always feel them too. I think I'm better at working out where it is - and it likes lying across me at the top of my bump which can be a bit uncomfortable. So have been able to feel hands/feet (not sure which!) at the sides of the bump over the last week. Lovely moses basket by the way. This is the one I got from Mamas and Papas www.mamasandpapas.com/product-moses-basket-elfie-and-mop/770021800/type-i/ A friend has said she's getting rid of her crib so can't decide if I should get that too. Don't want to go crazy but might avoid having to use a travel cot in our room.

Melly have seen that aspelund stuff - it is lovely. Need to sort out DS's room with a wardrobe and carpet so that he can move out of the little room. But will have to wait until we sort out the bathroom (nearly done - just tiling and flooring to do).

Got back from the quack. It is sinusitis - he reckons viral so no antibiotics but he did tell me what painkillers I can have etc. Might hide under a duvet tomorrow if it's this sore.

KLou111 · 29/03/2011 09:39

Morning girlies :)
Sorry, couldn't get on yesterday. Soooooooo glad your scan went fabulously Iwish Grin it's a beautiful moment isn't it?

Liz the placenta sounds like a whoosh whoosh whoosh, whereas heart sounds like a dum dum dum dum. If you find 2 sounds, that's the one! I couldn't find it last night when trying to find for DH's mum as was sat at kitchen table, so I 'gave' her the placenta! Well, she didn't have to know did she Shock

Melly so glad you got your furniture. Can't wait to do our nursery. I am now toying with duck egg blue with white furniture or yellow, not sure.

Off home to Wales now, will 'see' you all later x

Hi Ladies,

Sorry I haven't been on for ages, work has been knackering me out so just been crashing in the evenings.

Glad your scan went OK Iwish.

Mine is on Friday. I am looking forward to it but have been having some horrible dreams about not being able to find a heart beat. Just want Friday to come now and put my mind at rest.
