Yeah I know what you mean Klou, being officially on Maternity Leave Shock will make it seem so much more real, and closer!! Same for you and an actual bump I guess, it will pop out when it's ready! I love oak effect wood/varnish, and oak in general lol it's lovely. We have a solid oak mantel/mantal? shelf above our front room fire.

The carpet has been sorted, the fitter came back and was really ashamed bless him, he said he was really really embarrassed that had happened and gave us 40 quid out of his own pocket! He had a lad with him that he was training up and it was him that did it. He was really nice about it though :) we're going to Ikea to get the nursery furniture on Sunday :o can't wait!!!

I agree with Klou on your nursery Liz, I would paint it. You could get plastic sheets and masking tape them to the skirting boards so it seals the carpet underneath so you don't drip paint on it :)

Melly19MummyToBe · 24/03/2011 20:14

Just looked at your pics Kou, they're ace, I love how you can see the spine lol I think it's really cool :)

KLou111 · 24/03/2011 20:14

Oh that's so sweet of your carpet fitter, bless him :)

Let me know about the ikea furniture. Really want white, and want a cot, dresser and wardrobe, but on their site they don't have a lot of choice. Will have to go in, but our nearest is Cardiff (hour and 20 mins) but there is one in Coventry now, near where we're going at the weekend, so may have a look next time back.

Is anyone else totally craving sweets and chocolate. I don't want anything else, even dinner I struggle with as would rather have a bag of malteasers!! :)

ohh klou what was we saying the otehr day about sweet cravingsGrin you can gradually see the change in your belly, you are getting there! just be thankful you arent like me and look about to drop any day now!

i have just had a shower and feel abit better, going to bed in a min and try to get some sleep

Melly19MummyToBe · 24/03/2011 21:09

ooooh Klou you could be having a girl! I am constantly munching sweets and haribo, also strawberries and cream! Apparantly if you crave sweet things it means its a girl :) I also would much rather be scoffing sweet things than proper food :o

Our nearest ikea is roughly hour and a half away! We already know what we're getting roughly. white wardobe and drawers, and a changing table for the downstairs bathroom. Thought there wasnt much point having one upstairs as it will only get used morning and evening and a couple of times in the night! we're not getting childrens furniture as it will be too small in a few years, just going full size. The catalogues are pretty rubbish aswell as the website, you actually have to go to the shop to see everything they have! When we've built everything I will put some pics up so you can see what we got :)

Melly19MummyToBe · 24/03/2011 21:11

I hope you get some decent sleep and feel lots better tomorrow Liz :)

Random question, but when you had your DD, did they try to make you do a poo before you left the hospital?

lizandlulu · 25/03/2011 09:39

no melly they didnt, the only time anyone asked about it was when the midwife came round after about 1 or 2 days and asked if i had managed to go.

(imagine them standing over you in hospital ordering you to have a crapGrin)

Melly19MummyToBe · 25/03/2011 11:13

lol i just wondered, it was something I saw on another thread, I think it was 'crazy sh*t they didn't tell me about being pregnant'. And someone posted on it about being made to do a poo before she left hospital. And also that they also check your back passage after you've had stitches to make sure they haven't stitched your bum up. Apparantly it's quite an easy mistake to make Confused

Melly19MummyToBe · 25/03/2011 11:13

By the way are you feeling better today?

lizandlulu · 25/03/2011 11:33

see i cant really help with advice re stitches as i didnt have to have any, thank god. i cant imagine the stinging.

yes i am feeing alot better thank you, must have just been a bug, but god i did feel ill. made me think twice about what i was saying about being strong in labour and 'powering through'! i just hope its not as long as last time

Melly19MummyToBe · 25/03/2011 11:53

Just remember 'first is the worst, seconds the best, and third is the one with the hairy chest!' although that last one probably isn't true where newborn babies are concerned :o

Basically, second babies are meant to be a lot faster than first babies :)

A girl on my parenting course had her baby this morning, 5.22am, she was induced on wednesday morning, and it was her 18th birthday yesterday! Imagine being in labour all day on your 18th birthday.

KLou111 · 25/03/2011 15:17

Hey I'm a third and I certainly don't have a hairy chest lol!!

I was in Weston-Super-Mare with my now DH getting ratted with friends on my 18th birthday!!

My mum once had a woman who had been stitched up so wrong she was pooing through her fanny hole Hmm

Glad you're feeling better now Liz, how awful, being ill aswell as everything else.

Just been to the beach on another glooooorious day, and had a bag of chips and a can of Dandelion and Burdock, classy ay :)

Just got to pack the car now for our journey back to the Midlands tomorrow. May not be on for a couple of days after tonight.

Iwish · 25/03/2011 17:49

Waves to madkatz and gruffalo

Ok ladies.... I NEED THIS WEEKEND TO GO QUICK!! I NEED IT TO BE MONDAY!! Let's all make time go fast on the count of 3. 1....2....3!

Crap its still Friday! Scan is Monday at 8:45am. I'm scared, nervous and excited!

KLou111 · 25/03/2011 17:49

lol Liz on the D&B :)
Will be sure to bring a coat. We're going to Coombe Abbey for a Medieval Feast tomorrow night for my Dads retirement/birthday last week. We're all dressing up, can't wait. Although the costumes are quite thin do DH has packed his thermals for underneath (his costume is quite see through too :) )
DH is going as Robin Hood, I'm a medieval princess (apparently), not sure of brothers, Dad is St George, Mum is a wench LMAO!! Really looking forward toit. Mum has booked a limo as a surprise for Dad to take us. AND I CAN'T DRINK THE FREE SODDING CHAMPAGNE!!! We had 2 limos for our wedding, but never got the free champagne then either as we had a helicopter from the church, so the ushers and bridesmaids had one car, parents in the other! Didn't time it very well this time did we??? Oh well, will have a bottle glass or 2 when bubba here :)

Oooh it's sounds like so much fun getting all dressed up etc. I've never been to anything like that!

KLou111 · 25/03/2011 18:15

Can't wait :)

In case you're interested, New Look have got those t-shirts back online (Mummy to be, Mummy in Training, VIB Very Important Baby etc etc) 2 for £15. Might have to bag a couple for when bump finally arrives :)

Melly19MummyToBe · 25/03/2011 19:27

Crikey Klou are you a millionaire? A HELICOPTER??? Seriously? I am so jealous. I've never been in a helicopter.

At least your scan is first thing in the morning Iwish, my 20 week scan was 2 in the afternoon! Although my 12 week scan was 9am.

omgosh my grandma is awesome! She gave me this posh looking bag earlier with NoaNoa on it, and there was a gorgeous little pink smocky dress type thing, and a cute little pair of leggings. She got them from this shop in Lincoln which is the only shop outside of london to stock NoaNoa stuff apparantly! They're both wrapped up in tissue paper and in seperate boxes, all very posh looking, just the leggings were £20 (they had the price tag on)!!

Oh and fyi, I luuuuuuuuuuurve Dandelion and Burdock :o

Melly19MummyToBe · 25/03/2011 19:33

I really fancy some chip chop chips now Klou.

KLou111 · 25/03/2011 19:36

Not quite a millionaire lol! Although have been trying to buy a euro ticket online and it's keeps crashing, closed now. GOD F**KING HELP THEM IF I 'WIN'!!!
We only had it for an hour. The 2 things DH wanted at our wedding was a free bar and a helicopter :) which I managed to achieve bang on budget :)

Melly19MummyToBe · 25/03/2011 19:58

Sounds fabulous :) I hope I have a lovely wedding like that one day, if he ever asks me that is of course lol. At least now if/when we do get married, Poppy will be a bridesmaid :) my sister is planning on getting married this year and I'm one of her bridesmaids, only problem is she wants July-August time! I'm gonna still have tonnes of baby fat lol, I guess I will just have to invest in a pair of really big, strong knickers :o

lizandlulu · 25/03/2011 21:34

ohh melly find out what shop it is from, i am only 12 miles away from lincoln and its hard to find designer baby stuff round here. not that i would buy alot but its nice to browse and see what you can get.

iwish bet you are so excited, it seems such a long time away but will soon come round

GruffaloMama · 25/03/2011 21:39

Hi all - so glad scans have gone well. Have been ill with a cold this week and work is mental so have been crashing out when I get home. Liz glad you're feeling better. Melly big strong knickers are the business! Klou - helicopter sounds brill except DH and I would have been way too chicken for that! Iwish have fun at the scan on Monday - hope all goes well and bubba plays nicely for the sonographer so you can get some good piccies.

My session with the consultant went well. Apparently I should already have been in for a GTT (glucose test that is worse than the lucozade one) but my midwife messed up. This is because I had gestational diabetes with DS. So have to go back in a fortnight for it and then again at 28 weeks. The really good news is that they think I can have a natural birth. Basically I said that if they wanted to induce me (which they used to do if you have gestational diabetes at 38 weeks) I wouldn't let them. But, apparently they don't induce now unless you're on insulin or the baby is huge. So I'll get a chance to go into labour normally. And as the baby has a normal-sized head I should stand a decent chance of pushing it out. Hurray!
