Hi everyone,,,
I'm looking for some advice as i dont know what to do anymore just as i get back on my feet something else seems to knock me back down.

Does anyone know is there any help out there as ive missed the sure start grant and now have nothing for baby due in april 2011.

I had to claim income support late last year as my partner left us and i was not working so had no income what so ever.
I have recently gone self employed and dont really have much income at the moment with starting up and everything.
I am due to have another baby in april 2011 but i have nothing i was told i could claim a sure start grant months ago but when i went into the jobcentre they said no first child only now.
I do have another child who is 1 year old but have never claimed this before as myself and partner worked before.
I have a few bits that baby could use but my son is still in his cot and only have his buggy now which i use for him as he cant walk the next baby is a girl so dont have mamy clothes either nether mind bottles, blankets, or anything else.
i really dont know where to turn next..i cant claim a loan because i need to be claiming benefits.
is there anything at all i could do??
thanks for reading xx

sweetkitty, the OP is gone after people leaped down her throat about her situation and her spending money on bottles.

Sad
BettyDouglas · 15/02/2011 16:07

Chill out Savannah! Blimey, you'll make yourself ill.
Threads often turn into something completely different from that intended by the OP.

She had 100s of posts offering her good advice and support. Having reread the thread, the OP actually stopped posting and didn't return well before the thread 'took a turn'.

People offered support and practical help. Others disagreed with her lifestyle choices (not the best choice of words but not sure how else to phrase it.) This is a public forum and that's what happens.

I only posted that I thought in terms of practicalities, breastfeeding was far easier. People may disagree, that's the way of things. For some, bottle feeding may be easier. Hey Ho! No need to get ants in your pants!

BettyDouglas · 15/02/2011 16:09

Poppet, whilst I'm at it, you're also being a bit arsey. No need to be rude. Actually, your post was a wee bit difficult to read.

Oh, and you haveparagraphed correctly for hand writing. In print, it is customary to leave a blank line between paragraphs to make it easier to read. Smile

BoffinMum · 15/02/2011 17:04

It's pretty bitchy in here even for MN. Like blardy school. Calm down people.

Portofino · 15/02/2011 18:23

Sorry to be cynical but I am always a bit wary of first time posters pleading poverty. Lots of advice was given early on - she didn't seem that interested in it. Other posters have offered to send stuff.....MNetters are so lovely, but it is always better to be a bit cautious I think.

dee20108810 · 15/02/2011 18:36

I would just like to say how most people on here are abit up their own bums if you like...No-one konws the posters circumstances and i'm pretty sure she hasn't choosen to be in this situation like many people wouldn't want to be.

Witter try going on the direct gov website, I found this really helpful and still refer back to this. I know you cannot claim alot but you may be able to claim tax credits and try the vouchers for milk as you get these for your first child, 2nd and 3rd. It's not alot but every little helps right :-).

I would try charity shops and also buying in sales is a good thing as my friend pointed out. Maybe buying in the sale for the 3 months onwards stage.

Hope you get the help you need and if you know anyone who has had a baby ask them if they have anything they don't want, even if its just a few baby grows. Freecycle is always good too. Best of luck hun :-)

BettyDouglas · 15/02/2011 18:42

Actually, Portofino, I agree with you this time.
The OP gave vague details of being 'somewhere near Manchester' and when lots of posters said they were near Manchester and could get some stuff to her that's when she disappeared.

Portofino · 15/02/2011 19:18

You mean you don't always agree with me Betty Wink?

Poppet45 · 15/02/2011 20:50

Did you notice I got a bit arsey then Betty? :D Good it was kind of the point. I thought given that Expat rocked up like Bettybigbollocks right from the offset slagging off a well documented scientific fact due presumably to her own chip on her shoulder, I'd have a go at being rude and aggressive back. She didn't offer the OP a word of advice but just wanted to sneer and pick a fight with those who were trying to help. I couldn't quite match her preening delight at her own pig ignorance but I rather enjoyed myself.

expatinscotland · 15/02/2011 22:08

How flattering! Someone who's easily wound up by internet sprites.

But keep going, because it's becoming patently obvious the chip on the shoulder is all yours.

Hmm
CherryPie3 · 15/02/2011 22:36

Poppet, you are seriously acting like an internet troll. You should really stop it now. You've been arsey and annoyed several people which seems to have been your aim.

Maybe the op was real, maybe not. Either way mumsnet is better than what this thread demonstrates.

Portofino · 15/02/2011 22:36

Well if you ever need a namechange Expat - I am liking Bettybigbollocks Wink. Be quick, or I might steal it....

I must go to bed as I can't bear the judgemental bitches condemning ff.....

expatinscotland · 15/02/2011 22:44

You can have it, Porto. I've got 'fruitcakeofhate'. Oh, that was a good one. Too bad that poster's banned now, though. Maybe it's back . . . Hmm

BoffinMum · 16/02/2011 12:43

FWIW she's been in touch with me via PM and I think he's thoroughly scared off now. She appears so have been very proactive and followed up on various pieces of advice given on this thread, so I don't think she's an appropriate candidate for bashing. Back off.

PM her Lockets, she's not coming back on here now.

ScramVonChubby · 16/02/2011 12:57

'£500 has always been a one-off grant for first child - no cuts there, thought the universal £190 is on its way out.'

That's actually not true as I got it for ds4 based on ds1 and ds3 being disabled (a criteria longside poverty although not so well recognised).

OP good on you for trying with the buisiness, keep at it I would say- psychologically far better to try than not IME.

And LMAO at people trying it on with ExPat- on a loser then for sure!

ilovesprouts · 16/02/2011 14:12

ive pm her but no reply will taks to chazza shop then
