Will anyone join a new baby bus with me?

I just got a BFP this morning so its very early days for me, but I'm so excited I thought what the hell, I'll head straight for the pregnancy thread anyway Grin

If all goes according to plan this will be DC2 and due on 2nd October. Ive enjoyed being on the October TTC bus so I thought it would be fun to continue over here.

Morning all! I'm feeling very bloated and sore. Is that normal?! I think I'm going to have to wear something stretchy today!
My due date is now Oct 19th according to my gp and her little wheel...
I'm also feeling generally grumpy but trying to hide it - which makes it worse! Any other grumpy pregnant ladies out there?!

happymummytobe · 13/02/2011 09:40

Feeling better now - "what to expect when you're expecting" says bloating is normal. Good.
Now to find my stretchiest jeans!

T0R1 · 13/02/2011 10:17

My DH had a vasectomy reversal in November. The other day I suddenly thought I was one day late and went and bought two tests. Then realised I'm dopey and was a week out! But yesterday morning thought I'd just do one of the tests because it was the 6 day early ones and this was four days early. Anyway, got a faint pink line!! I'm saving the other one for if I'm late (I'd like to make it to Thursday!!) -just trying not to get my hopes up too much just now. I have the feeling if my period coming so I'm not sure. And I have a really sore throat!! Don't think that's a symptom though!

dribbleface · 13/02/2011 10:23

Morning all.

Happymummytobe - i am grumpy as well, poor DH!

Feel so so sick, its not great, have to write a huge essay today and just can't concentrate.

mpops · 13/02/2011 10:34

Hello!

Grumpy here too. I'm also finding random people in the street very annoying. What's that all about? It's very strange feeling like this! I hope my hormones calm down some time soon otherwise I'll be starting fights with strangers! Confused

FluffyDonkey · 13/02/2011 12:52

Ah yes Feeling grumpy - can definately relate!

Have spent the weekend doing sod all except lying in bed, eating and throwing up Sad

During the week I work 11 hour days (plus I commute) so I figure I deserve lazy weekends!

Good luck with your essay dribbleface I tend to find that I'm very unproductive until 3pm and then I get a lot better. Hope you find some concentration!

Linda40 · 13/02/2011 14:10

Morning newbies :)

monkeybubbles they say eye spasms are connected to tiredness, not sure about the lip, maybe its the same nerve?

dribbleface good luck with your essay.

FluffyDonkey get the rest while you can and dont feel one bit guilty for doing sod all, u deserve the rest :)

Grumpy is not the word today! Im biting everyones head off. Possible due to the fact that Ive packed in smoking!

Molybdenum · 13/02/2011 14:38

monkeybubbles your facial spasms are due to magnesium deficiency, which is not that uncommon in pregnancy. Go to your health food shop and buy some magnesium citrate tablets; 200mg morning and night. Perfectly safe during pregnancy. You may be interested to know that magnesium is used in hospitals to halt premature labour. It's a nutrient which is extremely important for a successful pregnancy. A blood test cannot detect a magnesium deficiency until it is extremely severe, so watching for symptoms such as muscle twitches/spasms is important to gauge supplementation need.

Hey all,
Catching up on the thread while DP shouts at the rugby! Have had a pretty crappy weekend, the cold continued and so DP cancelled the posh restaurant he had booked for valentines :(
To make matters worse we decided to have a naughty fish and chips take away instead as couldn't face cooking and it gave me gripes and (sorry TMI) bad bad runny tummy.
Ugh - learnt my lesson with greasy junk food now!

Anyhoo - feeling a bit brighter today, and found the maternity clothes thread quite useful - think I'm going to have to invest in a new bra/jeans etc soon as feeling a bit uncomfy now!

arabella36 · 13/02/2011 18:18

Oh God, the Nausea!!! [green face]

Don't know how I'll manage in work. . .

lovemysleep · 13/02/2011 19:32

am a grumpy old cow too......on steroids aswell, so that's making me even worse. Also, as have had 4 mcs' before, I'm constantly worrying about having another mc.

Dh is getting it in the neck but he's not making his life any easier, as he's being a bit insensitive to the fact that pg can make you like this.

Am very, very angry with him - and I got so cross with him being useless, that I ended up shouting at DD.

So am now angry, and guilty and worrying about the stress for the bean.

Not a good day Sad

Nettlerash · 13/02/2011 19:38

Evening all. Just wanted to catch up!
Lovemysleep - go and have a nice hot bath!
My DH has been having it today too but he has been on at me too.

Linda40 · 13/02/2011 21:17

lovemysleep try and take some time out for yourself. ((hugs))

Penelope1980 · 14/02/2011 05:35

Hope everyone is well! [waves]

I had my dating scan today which was very exciting as I could see the heart beat - yay! Roll on 12 weeks so I can start getting really excited ...

eagerbeagle · 14/02/2011 07:24

Hello ladies - I hope everyone is feeling blooming marvelous and not too afflicted with the dreaded morning sickness

Hi nettle I have one DS who is 21mo now. hes a bit of a mommy's boy so not sure how he will react to a little brother or sister.

Only very vague feelings of nausea with me so far. With DS, it was very mild and then kicked in with a vengeance at about 6/7 weeks so i am trying to enjoy the calm before the storm.

Anyone got any good strategies for coping with the sickness at work?

Linda40 · 14/02/2011 08:13

Morning ladies

Just letting you all know Ive woken up with a heavy bleed. Im going to take to girls to school and then make my way to the EPU. Putting on a normal face for the girls but I know that as soon as they walk into the school i'll break down.

I will call back later to let you all know the situation xxx

Iwish · 14/02/2011 08:22

(((hugs))) for you Linda hope you are ok. Let us know how you get on xx

mpops · 14/02/2011 08:36

Many good wishes coming your way, Linda. x

dribbleface · 14/02/2011 08:41

Linda40- thinking of you.

Well nausea has hit with avengence, went to bed feeling sick, dreamt about being sick and woke up and was sick! Hmm

Got most of my work/essay done yesterday, roll on April 7th when i'm finished. I studied right through last pregnancy and had exams when DS was 6 weeks old, so if i could do it then i know i can do it now. If only I could stop feeling sick long enough!

Making cakes with DS this morning, feel guilty about not giving him as much attention recently, what with sick and work!

Have first antenatal appointment this PM, 15 mins with nurse, then 15 mins with doctor. My last surgery was 5 mins with doctor so not sure what will be different. Have sharp pain on right side so will mention it but it only comes on when i'm retching so i'm guessing i've strained a muscle.

FluffyDonkey · 14/02/2011 08:54

linda hope everything turns out ok

Can't keep breakfast down, no matter what I eat. Would also like some tips about dealing with sickness whilst at work! At the moment I'm nibbling on dry biscuits throughout the day. Fortunately no one has yet commented on it (I don't normally eat between meals) because I don't know how I'd explain it away!

Really hope this sickness stops soon but I'm only 7 weeks so I'm not holding out much hope!

dribbleface · 14/02/2011 09:02

Fluffydonkey - When i was pregnant with DS all i could eat for breakfast and keep down was potato waffles with salt on Blush. Other things i tried, travel sickness bands, sucking sweets (this helped a bit), chewing gum, sipping warm drinks, sour sweets, in fact sweets full stop especially dolly mixtures! Some helped a bit but it did continue until i was 26 weeks (sorry!).

monkeybubbles · 14/02/2011 09:19

Linda40 thinking of you, hope everything's ok

eye twitch has calmed down a bit, so hopefully it was just tiredness. will keep magnesium in mind though, thank you molybdenum

on half term this week, so planning on just lazing around and resting. kind of wish this was the worst of the morning sickness week, but i'm sure that's still to come!

happymummytobe · 14/02/2011 09:48

linda What a horrid shock this morning - I do hope everything's ok. Keep us posted.

I had really bad nausea for a couple of days straight after conception (I now realise) but other than that I just have a general queasiness some of the time. I'm wondering whether I might skip morning sickness properly (sounds really horrible) but the book says it often kicks in on week 6 or 7...

Best remedy I've heard is to grate some fresh ginger, pour on boiling water and then sip it during the day.

EdwardorEricCantdecide · 14/02/2011 09:59

linda hope all goes ok for you today thinking of you ((hugs))

i'm feeling ok for now, still no sickness however i am getting quite bad headaches. and have suddenly started snoring Confused

hope every1 else is good.

soundofherwings · 14/02/2011 11:08

Linda hope things are ok today.

I started with awful nausea last week, and feel sick all day, has anyone had to take time off work? I'm a medical student and on full time placement in a hospital, but gave up on going in today after throwing up twice while trying to leave the house. All the advice about eating constantly, sucking sweets etc doesn't help as we're not allowed to eat on the wards or in clinics- even a bottle of water is frowned upon. Help!
