Will anyone join a new baby bus with me?

I just got a BFP this morning so its very early days for me, but I'm so excited I thought what the hell, I'll head straight for the pregnancy thread anyway Grin

If all goes according to plan this will be DC2 and due on 2nd October. Ive enjoyed being on the October TTC bus so I thought it would be fun to continue over here.

Linda I'm really hoping you are getting on ok at the EPU. Thinking of you too.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone... Anyone else spending it with their head over the toilet?
Anyone else just feeling absolutely awful? Like you've got really bad food poisoning or coming down with something awful? That's how I feel and then after a few hours it kind of lifts and I feel normal again until it comes back another few hours later. Think I was really worrying DH last night I was feeling so ill.
I have been so so sooooo sick over this weekend - I had forgotten just how awful morning sickness is but of course since it's a good sign I feel cheeky to complain. It's hard to get anything done though. I really feel for you soundofherwings and don't blame you for taking some time off.

I feel bad for complaining about feeling like this when it took us quite long to conceive this time but I need a little whinge so I thought it's better doing it on here than in RL (and the only person I can moan to is DH since no one else knows!!!)

Thanks for listening... Blush

Hope everyone's doing good.

KnitterNotTwitter · 14/02/2011 12:33

fingers crossed for you linda a friend of mine bled for two weeks early in her latest pregnancy. She's just given birth to a healthy baby boy.... So it's not necessarily the end of everything.

Iwish · 14/02/2011 13:30

How are you Linda honey? Xx

cupofteaplease · 14/02/2011 14:46

Hello, please can I join?

I am 5 weeks pregnant with baby number 3. My dc are 5 and 3. I had an early mc in 2000 and a slow mc in 2009. It hadn't felt the right time to try again until January, and I fell pregnant first time of trying Shock

According to my dates, I am 5+3 and due mid October.

I came on MN this afternoon to look for some advice as I'm a bit worried about the low down pains I have. They feel like back ache that you might get around the time of a period.

I know noone can tell me if this is normal, but has anyone else had similar?

Good luck and congratulations to everyone on the thread.

Maladjusted · 14/02/2011 14:52

Hello,

I am brand new to this site and pregnancy still can't say it out loud.

Don't really understand all the code but am almost 5 weeks gone - 1st timer and have been trying to 6 months. All the normal fears and apprehensions of other posters.

Due in October if all goes to plan - AHHHHH!

Iwish · 14/02/2011 14:56

Hi cupoftea are they like warm cramps (that's the only way I can describe them) if so I had them about the same time as you and am now 6+3 and just have the odd but of period type pain and back pain. I told my midwife and she said it's totally normal as long as you have no bleeding of course.

rebelwithoutababy · 14/02/2011 15:14

Dear all,
Can I join your bus? I am a newbie and just found out last week I am pregnant for the first time: did about 4 tests until I could persuade myself it was true!Smile I have always thought I had endometriosis, and was convinced it would take forever, but as it turned out (and thanks to the joy of LH testing strips!)it only took a couple of months! My boobs have taken on a life of their own and are really sore, plus I look a bit like a milmaid in all my clothes, although DH is thrilled Wink. I have only told mum and sis so far, so am hoping I can get all my gossip needs from MNetters now!

Linda40 · 14/02/2011 16:08

Well, went to the EPU. Had internal scan but they could only see a tiny dot, she said I've either lost everything or its the start of a very early pregnancy. So, they've done a blood test. If its negative or eptopic then they will ring me after 3pm (its 4 now). If its a positive test then they wont get in touch! and I go for another blood test on Wednesday.

So, they haven't rung me yet which is a good sign so Im praying and keeping everything crossed.

Thanks to you all for your wonderful wishes and support.

Hello to all the newbies xxx

FluffyDonkey · 14/02/2011 16:10

linda crossing all fingers and toes for you

dribbleface · 14/02/2011 16:47

Linda fingers crossed for you.

Well nurse was off sick for my appointment so receptionist said to still see doctor, 1 hr late he said, your pregnant, done a test, worked out how far gone i was and said to come back next week when i've seen the nurse!!! Still had my flu jab whilst i was there.

Cursingtheboobytum · 14/02/2011 16:50

Linda hoping that everything goes ok for you.

Just to update that since Saturday when I had a bit of a bleed everything has calmed down. I feel really really really sick and so I'm guessing that I'm still preggers.

For those asking about morning sickness - am I the only one that craves coke and cheap pizza? Normally I eat extremely healthily. But along comes pregnancy and BANG, give me the cheap and nasty stuff. Honestly, coke for brekkie!!!

Crawling · 14/02/2011 17:14

Linda I hope it all goes well for you Smile

I had my scan everything great baby is apperently 6mm, and had a small heartbeat. But everything was tiny, she said either 6weeks 2 days (baby measurment) or 7 weeks 5days (sack measurement) not sure which is more accurate though.

EdwardorEricCantdecide · 14/02/2011 17:47

linda hope all goes well for you everything crossed. try to take care of yourself and not worry too much (although i know its impossible not to worry)
(hugs)

AgBag · 14/02/2011 17:57

Hi - please can I join this thread too?!! I'm a mumsnet virgin so am still learning the acronyms! I found out on Friday that I'm pregnant.. according to the mumsnet due date calculator I'm due 20th Oct! It'll be my first baby! (I'm 29) I'm so excited, but also rather scared.

I just tried to make an appointment at the doctors but can't get a slot until next Wednesday!

I really want to know if I'm meant to be taking Folic Acid supplements? I'd read that its recommended to start asap, but am not sure about self-prescribing without seeing the Doc first.

Any advice would be much appreciated please!

Engelsemeisje · 14/02/2011 18:13

Linda40 Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

AgBag No need to see the doctor about folic acid. You can start taking it straight away

I know I shouldn't complain but I don't really have any pregnancy symptoms (except a BFP!)....I don't really feel pregnant - no nausea or sore boobs, have not been noticably more tired or crankier than usual (maybe my DP would disagree). What's a girl got to do for a bit of morning sickness? (I'm sure this remark is going to come back to haunt me).

AgBag · 14/02/2011 18:23

Hi Engelsemeisje Blush I'm the same! I feel quite well. I felt some very mild waves of nausea last week, but nothing now - I hope it lasts. And my boobs are no different! But its still very early days I guess...

So is Folic Acid recommended for everyone?

I'll try and get some this evening. I don't want to regret delaying it.

Iwish · 14/02/2011 18:39

Hi agbag yeh just take it asap. Or you can take the combined ones like pregnacare that has all sorts of vitamins. I started taking the asda version of pregnacare the day after my bfp but had been taking folic acid for 6 months.

Hi Engelsemeisje I wanted some symptoms... Now I have all day nausea and really sore boobs. The nausea is awful. Hopefully if you get it it's not all day :)

cursing not had any cravings as such but I have been dying for a cheese sandwich all day. Not good as cheese doesn't really agree with me... Ooops

Engelsemeisje · 14/02/2011 18:42

As far as I know all pregnant women should take folic acid for the first 3 months (and before nif poss) to prevent neural defects such as spina bifida, it's during the first 3 months that the baby's nervous system develops. You can get it from Boots or any other chemist. I've been taking it for nearly two bloody years (it's been a long road for us) so am hoping and praying that I'll be done with it in 2 months time!

Crawling · 14/02/2011 18:50

You can aso buy pregnancy vitamins from tesco. But my MW warned me not to take vitamin A (the vitamin in liver and pate)as it causes defects, and stay away from Vitamin D but she didnt say why, the tablets I have contain vitamin D though so I am confused about that one but to be safe I am going to buy some without tomorrow.

AgBag · 14/02/2011 18:51

Ok thanks for the advice!
Hope your prayers are answered.

SJAbaby1 · 14/02/2011 19:19

Hi all,
I wanted to join this thread, too! I am 29,living in London but originally from Boston, USA. I am awaiting #1 EDD 12/10/11 with DH (married last June). So excited and nervous, too!

Any advice on when to tell one's boss? My work place is not the most woman-friendly, and I am nervous about how to best talk through everything in a few weeks (although of course they shouldn't be saying anything negative, but not sure it being illegal will be enough to stop them!). Any strategies?

Looking forward to chatting with everyone--happy Valentine's Day!

arabella36 · 14/02/2011 19:26

Good luck to Linda and glad they haven't phoned you back yet!

Feeling sick is terrible but I think being busy in work was a distraction. But I keep eating things like time out bars and fanta to feel less sick. These are things I normally have no interest in but seem to help. And chips at lunchtime instead of sandwiches!

I haven't contacted the doctor yet re being pregnant. I think it's because I think I might have a miscarriage and I don't want to have to phone and cancel and have to talk about it!

Hello to everyone newSmile

Linda40 · 14/02/2011 19:35

Well, the hospital hasn't rung so Im taking it that the blood test was positive, so i will repeat the test on Wednesday and go from there. There is still a glimmer of hope.

cursingtheboobytum glad your bleeding has calmed down. I still feel very pregnant which I hope is a good sign and not just the hormones flying around, lol.

Agbag When you take your folic acid make sure its the recommended daily dose of 400 mcgs per day. This amount is already in the Pregnacare vitamins. :)

Engelsemeisje Ssssshhhh....dont knock not having any symptoms, that comment is gonna turn round and bite you on the ass!!!!!! lol

sunface · 14/02/2011 20:30

Oh linda hope you are ok? What a day you have had. Everything crossed for wed for you. X
Welcome to all the new posters! I'm still getting lots of CM and arabella i'm like you wish I hadnt gone to the docs last week as i'm worried i'm tempting fate too... Hope everyone else doing ok, crawling that must have been so exciting to see your lil bean! X

mpops · 14/02/2011 21:25

That's hopeful news from today, Linda. My thoughts are with you. Be strong! x

Is anyone else experiencing quite acute stress? A lot of the time I'm feeling really anxious about everything: my body, whether I'm taking enough good care of the bean, about giving birth, about mc... And of course I'm worrying that my worry is bad for the baby. Gah. How do I make it better? Sad
