Will anyone join a new baby bus with me?

I just got a BFP this morning so its very early days for me, but I'm so excited I thought what the hell, I'll head straight for the pregnancy thread anyway Grin

If all goes according to plan this will be DC2 and due on 2nd October. Ive enjoyed being on the October TTC bus so I thought it would be fun to continue over here.

Hi to even more BFPs. It really is a busy bus and it's still early days.

apples my GP said they're fine with patients going in as soon as they have BFP since HPT are so sensitive/reliable nowadays and they like to advise on folic acid, not smoking as well as getting referred to the midwife team early since it can be a wait for a 12 week scan here. There appears to be a shortage of sonographers in our area (not that they said that but I have heard from others myself)

Anyway, I waited 2 weeks to go because I'm not sure I believed it myself.

My sickness for the day has eased off thankfully but it's felt like the worst hangover ALL day today and I was sick this afternoon. It's all good though as long as it's a sign that everythings going along well you know?

snowpeas · 09/02/2011 20:14

Wow it's getting busy here, congrats to to everyone with their BFP's Smile

My mind has turned into a big ball of fluufy cottonwool today, can't concentrate and keep forgetting things, really fancied fishfingers at lunchtime, put the oven on, set the timer but forgot to actually put the fishfingers in the oven, then looked everywhere for a note I'd written and eventually found it on my desk exactly where it should have been and where I had already looked twice.

Snakeears I've been waking up early too but feel totally exhausted before I even get out of bed, I don't remember being this tired with the boys but maybe I've just forgotton what it was like.

Lynda We were going to wait until the 12 week scan to tell the Dc's but we have decided we are going to tell DS1 at the weekend, mainly because we are due to go on Holiday to Disneyland Paris the week my scan is due and he's starting to plan all the rides we are going to go on together, obviously I wont be able to go on with him (DH gets very very bad motion sickness so can't go on either) and I don't want him to get all excited and then be disapointed Sad, we told him about DS2 when I was about 9 weeks so not too much earlier. Really hoping he's going to be pleased, one of my biggest worries is how it will effect him.

Sunface my sense of smell is really strong, when I visited my Mum I could smell her perfume from the other side of the room and when I went to the Garage for petrol the smell turned my stomach.

My fuzzy brain is at it again, was going to reply to someone else too but can't for the life of me remember what it was I was going to say will have to reread the posts and come back when (or if!) I do remember.

apples82 · 09/02/2011 20:16

Thanks tamashii for the doctor advise, I think i'll ring tomorrow to try and get an appointment booked up.

Congrats to everyone else on the October bus!

Cursingtheboobytum · 09/02/2011 20:32

Ow Do?

Can I join the bus if I sit at the back quietly and promise to behave?

Found out a week or so ago that we are expecting number 2. By my dates we are due 3/4 Oct. Hope the doc confirms this as this would mean I'm eligible for a second round of maternity pay Grin as dc1 is only 5 and a half months Shock.

Sick as a dog and still have to sing Nellie the elephant with a smile on my face for dc1. We have just started weaning and the smell of baby rice makes me barf.

Bouncyminky · 09/02/2011 20:34

Hi all. I had 3 bfp's about a week and a half ago (didn't understand first one - shock! then wanted to be sure). This will be my 2nd dc. I have a dd who is 4 on Friday. Excited but cautious atm, I've told my dh, mum, brother and mother in law. Living with mother in law and brother in law so had to tell them as there are only so many excuses for not drinking! All a bit stressful as dh quitting his course (so no job soon), work really busy and friend ttc and she's not sure if she just had mc this week.

Bouncyminky · 09/02/2011 20:37

Sorry for the moan, thanks for listening!

monkeybubbles · 09/02/2011 21:27

wow, hello to all the new BFPs. it's hard to keep up with all the new updates just since yesterday!

feeling really poorly, sore throat, runny nose, feverish. was feeling really woozy this afternoon so i came home early from work and just slept till DH came home. really hoping it's not a throat infection or anything, don't want to have to take antibiotics this early on! (5 weeks tomorrow :) )

jagjac · 09/02/2011 23:18

hi monkeybubbles, i feel really poorly too, got a horrible cold and im so bunged up, :(

Penelope1980 · 10/02/2011 05:52

I had a pregnancy milestone today - got sick of my trousers digging into me so got a cheap pair with elastic around the middle. 7 weeks seems too early to be bursting out of clothes, but hey ho!

I hope it works out ok vegasmum, but I've heard that as long as there is a line it doesn't matter how dark it is ??

kateepie2 · 10/02/2011 08:23

vegas go on peeonastick.com and find out the sensitivity of the two tests, they vary a lot. When did you do the first response one? Mine have taken ages to strengthen up... I got my first very faint line on Friday on a 10miu one and now its a darker thicker line on a 25miu one, but still no where near as dark as the control line. I wouldn't go down the digital route for a few days yet, they are less sensitive that a lot of the others, so a lot of people get false negs. I've ordered a couple, but waiting until Tues (11 days after first pos) to use it - going to docs then.

Don't fret too much, I know its hard (and I've been there). Hugs xx

sunface · 10/02/2011 09:21

Welcome everyone and congrats!!!!

yeah i'd third that vegas it could just be too soon to get a darker line. A line is a line though no matter how dark.

i'm knackered too, for some reason keep waking at 4am and then am unable to get back to sleep and hte lack of caffeine ain't helping any! Also been feeling v v nauseous yesterday and today and have a bitter taste in my mouth. Trying to drink some decaff at the moment and it's not tasting very nice and that's just rubbish, cos i love my coffee :(

Yup, sense of smell is crazy at the moment, on the bus this morning i'm sure i could smelly someones smelly feet! VOM!

snowpeas · 10/02/2011 09:37

Vegasmum try not to worry too much, I'm with the others that say the tests vary, with DS1 the nurse at my GP's did the test and the line was feint and she said it didn't matter a line was a line, I would have been 6/7 weeks then and that feint line is now 10 years old and nearly as tall as me. Sending you a hug xx

Penelope I've just taken delivery of two elasticated waist skirts and some maternity support bras, I feel much more comfortable now and will just have to say 'bye' to my jeans.

The Bras were an absolute bargain from eBay, 1x black and 1 x white ex-mothercare brand new, box was abit battered but only £6.00 inc postage, label on box said original price was £22.00 Smile
although I fear that now I have ventured onto the baby section of eBay my paypal balance will be taking a hit.

Sunface I'm really missing my coffee, had half a cup this morning but it just didn't taste right, I've taken to drinking ice cold orange juice by the pint glass full (never really drank it before), went through 2 cartons yesterday.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 10/02/2011 09:52

Hi everyone.

sunface I miss coffee too I really could do with one now but I won't have one as it'll probably end up down the loo!

Glad to see some people are venturing into maternity clothes already. I'm very tempted.

I heard from the MW this morning. I have my booking appointment on 28th Feb at 2pm. Which will be 11 weeks since LMP. Cutting it fine if I am alot further on than we think.

FluffyDonkey · 10/02/2011 09:59

Anyone else wake up in the middle of the night and want to throw up? But can't be arsed to get up do go back to sleep? Blush

EdwardorEricCantdecide · 10/02/2011 10:04

Grin

monkeybubbles · 10/02/2011 10:13

feeling really rubbish today so decided to stay home and rest. throat is really sore, all blocked up and just feeling exhausted. i think i usually would have just taken a daynurse and headed off to work, but with no options like that i thought that resting would be best. trying not to feel too guilty for missing work.

distracting myself with the mamas and papas website. am definitely looking into some maternity bras and comfy trousers!

sunface · 10/02/2011 10:14

oooo lovelybunch will you get your scan at your booking in if thats you 11weeks?

yup, feeling decidely queasy today, first time i've felt like this and it ain't good :( didn't have any morning sickness with my other 2. But figure any symptom is a good sign when i'm still so early. Very tempted to get some maternity jeans mind you as they are on sale at the moment in GAP! just seems like tempting fate - oh i'm so positive aren't i?!! Sorry!

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 10/02/2011 10:19

Nope no scan that day. It isn't at the hospital it just the booking in appointment with the MW. Then they send the paperwork to hospital then you get a letter for the 12 weeks scan. I made out I was going by my LMP to speed her up a bit even though I know I'm only 6+1 ish. God knows when I get a scan. They're useless where I live.

sunface · 10/02/2011 10:30

oh thats rubbish. i still need to call our early prg unit to see if they offer reassurance scans. Doubt they will let me have one, but it doesn't hurt to ask i guess. i'm worried about the 12wk one being delayed as we've have 2 hospitals merge in my area and apparenlty the waiting list is horrendous for scans.....

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 10/02/2011 10:49

It's rubbish. They should be able to offer the same level of care to all women at the right time accross the country, not a stupid postcode lottery like it is at the minute.

Tamashii · 10/02/2011 10:56

vegasmum I was obsessing googling pics of peoples BFP pee sticks cos mine was so faint. Then I worked out i had what may hav been implantation bleed just b4 AF was due so i prob tested just as the PG hormone kicked in and it took a full week to even get a bit darker. I've been sneaking a look at the maternity stuff on ebay too snowpeas ! Was watching a pair of Seraphine mat jeans but they ended up getting really expensiv. Poor sunface stuck on the bus with foot smell... nearly vommed at the thought.

sunface · 10/02/2011 11:42

oooo it's mat jeans that i'm after too tamashii!!! Thanks for the sympathy, i was almost vommming too, euugh it was gross. why is it that most things i can smell are the horrid things?!

starsandplanets11 · 10/02/2011 13:20

Good to compare notes with you all.

I saw the GP this morning. She gave the EDD as 10/10/11 and sent my details to the community MW who should call within a week to arrange a home visit. After that I can call the hospital and book the 12 wk scan. Apparently the hospital is popular and it could be busy. Hm...

I also got the swine flu vaccine today. They've run out of the triple one but had a few of the swine flu ones left so at least that's covered. Anybody else decided to have it?

Beginning to see what you mean about the sense of smell...
