I found out yesterday that I am pregnant with DC2. I am really pleased as we only started trying on Christmas Eve so I am only about four weeks pregnant.

I have told my best friend but I think DP and I will wait to tell family and friends until after the scan. Anyone else due in September and fancy a chat?

Well it wasn't so much no heart beat, more only a gestation sac with nothing in it. Sonographer thought I was 4 weeks gone (had bfp 2 weeks before so that really wouldn't make sense. MW was more reassuring as she said it was just one interpretation and under 6 weeks usually they do an internal so mw was surprised they didn't. Blood tests were positive but Monday's scan will hopefully put our minds at rest.

eastegg · 03/02/2011 09:40

city monkey hello, I'm in SE London. Congrats! I'm due 26/9 although I know that date's not accurate.

Good luck to everybody with scans and MW appointments coming up, especially scans.

princessscrumpy hope you're bearing up OK waiting for Monday's scan. I'm another one who was supposed to have conceived while I had the flu!(Based on LMP due date) I know it was later. A different situation to yours though.

Part of me is pleased I'm not having any appointments because it's partly because I officially don't have anything to worry about (no previous MCs etc) and partly just the way things are in this area (don't see MW for ages). But it is difficult waiting with nothing but the PG test to confirm it. And I only did one! lolajane any more luck in finding out when you'll get seen?

lolajane2009 · 03/02/2011 13:28

midwife phoned today and i see her on monday... now to get the house ready... so nervous as it is a tip and i seeem to have gone into 'super fussy' nesting mode.

chelstonmum · 03/02/2011 14:50

Talk about getting ready........my midwife just popped round a few hrs ago! I mentioned yesterday I had been with a child at the weekend who it turns out has chicken pox (they appeared on Tuesday), she spoke to infectious diseases and they said I needed my bloods done to check immunity levels. I was in my pj's as I have dc off school with coughs and colds.....I must have looked a lovely in my marks and sparks tartan finest! x

lolajane2009 · 03/02/2011 17:12

i've been tidying the last week as it was such a tip as my depression has been so bad for such a long time i havent tidied properly in a while. almost finished now and hubby will take some stuff to tip tomorrow and i'll finish off over weekend. feeling so sick though atm it is hard to eat much as most food doesnt appeal.

summerpixie · 03/02/2011 19:22

Hi, I'd like to join you all. I'm due on 16/09 from dates but have yet to meet the midwife. I received the appointment pack in the post today and am currently quite angry.

Whilst I understand the NHS are understaffed/paid/cared for, to receive what I did disgusts me! In between the brochures a letter slipped out. INCOME RECOVERY. FFS I've not even had the baby yet and they send me a standard letter telling me to PROVE I am entitled to NHS care. I pay my taxes and NI (albeit, IMO, far too much) and I was referred by my GP not some walk in clinic. When I had my DS 3 years ago I had to do no such thing. Has anyone else received this sort of letter, too?

Besides that, I am a teacher and I haven't told work yet and don't particularly want to until after the scan at 12 weeks. I was hoping for my first midwife appt to be in half term but its for Valentines day. I have already asked for a day off on the 18th for a non-preg related consultants appt. Should I rebook midwife appt or face the wrath of the Head? (sorry to have waffled!)

chelstonmum · 04/02/2011 12:58

Hi summerpixie

I have never heard of NHS income recovery before. I had my book in with midwife earlier in the week and she asked what hubby and I do for a living (teacher and company owner). She didnt ask me to fill out any means tested form, and gave me a form to send off to recieve free prescriptions and dental care (although we already have a dental plan). Is this exclusive to your county? Or can we all expect large post birth invoices?

So far as the midwife goes, I would keep the appointment, even ring in that day and tell work it is an emergency app (you will be at the doctors Hmm).

eastegg · 04/02/2011 13:08

Hi summerpixie and congrats.

My job's a nightmare to combine with appointments so I sympathise. If I were you I'd probably try to rebook - if you've got the whole of half term to offer (and maybe the 18th? kill 2 birds with one stone) then they may be able to fit you in, although I have no experience of trying to rebook these blasted things. I'm dreading it now I too have a toddler to factor in.

Don't know anything about the income recovery letter I'm afraid, as I haven't had anything yet. I would've thought they can tell from your NI no. that you are entitled to NHS care.

eastegg · 04/02/2011 13:15

I'm sorry I don't think it's a good idea for a teacher to ring in on the day saying it's an emergency when it isn't. Not for me to decide though, I know. These appointments are a nightmare if you've got a job you can't just not show up for.

chelstonmum · 04/02/2011 13:37

Eastegg, if headteacher's 'wrath' is how requests are dealt with then it makes for difficult communication. I gathered you had a different view due to your previous post, but thanks for spelling it out.

My midwifes first available appointment was in 5weeks, which would have made me 11weeks pg by then. I only recieved my appointment earlier due to health complications and a request from my GP (the midwife saw me at the end of her clinic hours).

Also appointment only requires a few hours off work, not the entire day. Im sure summerpixie could be excused for the duration.

PrincessScrumpy · 04/02/2011 14:04

Your mws come to your houses? Mine did after dd was born but I just see her in the gp surgery.

Don't know what the NHS form is all about - haven't seen one. I have been given my form to claim free prescriptions - with dd1 I had to wait until 20 weeks before they'd give me one!

Was feeling optimistic about monday until the cramps started again about an hour ago after nothing for 2 days. I'm seeing how it goes but if they get bad I'll pop to A&E. Problem is I'm so aware now. Feeling very tired today so it's a film afternoon for dd! Can barely keep my eyes open and I only worked 8.30am-1pm today!

lolajane2009 · 04/02/2011 14:08

yeah, my booking in is at house...
i am aalmostfinished tidying but now my whole body is aching.

had really bad morning sickness last night... wanted to roll up and sleep.

hows everyone else?

chelstonmum · 04/02/2011 14:16

Fingers crossed PrincessScrumpy. x

I had my book in at the gp surgery with midwife, but she popped round to take bloods and drop off forms she had missed. She said we would now have a mix of surgery/hospital and home appointments.

Im still really sleepy (but then again im doing paperwork, it has that effect) Wink

summerpixie · 04/02/2011 18:40

Hi all. Thanks for the advice. I managed to get through to the maternity unit and rebooked the appointment for half term. I wish my hospital would be more helpful by actually providing the number for the unit with the letter and brochures instead of me having to trawl through their website looking for it!

I live in London so there really shouldn't be any excuse for such poor technology and communication. I'm still angry about 'Income recovery'. Should I name & shame the hospital?

PrincessScrumpy · 04/02/2011 18:51

I thought if you live in the uk, it doesn't matter how much you earn, everyone's entitled to NHS healthcare - what is the form about?

eastegg · 04/02/2011 19:32

That's really good that you got your appointment changed to half term summerpixie, well done.
Still don't know why you've got this income recovery letter. Do you really have to fill a form in, or is it maybe only aimed at certain people, such as people not permanently settled here?
My MW never came to my house until after the birth x

CrazyAlien06 · 04/02/2011 19:42

hello everyone :) Can i join?
Got BFP last Saturday and EDD late September! It has not sunk in yet, wont until I have a scan ( fingers crossed I get to that point!)
I have my first appointment with midwife in couple of weeks ( ill be 8 weeks that day) no idea what will happen!

On a plus side im off skiing in two weeks :) wooooooo

can't wait!!

x

summerpixie · 04/02/2011 20:55

It's a letter asking me to provide the following documentation:
Visa with entry and exit stamps
student status if applicable
asylum seeker status, if applicable
British passport holder with proof of home address from a utility bill or bank statement (mobile phone bills are not acceptable)
EHIC card if you are from an EU/EEA country.

I'm really offended by this as they are implying that I am an not a normal UK resident. I don't have any of those documents apart from a British passport as my bills are all done online and I was born in the UK and have lived here for all 33 years of my life! I am beginning to think that they have sent me this as I have an asian surname. I may write a snotty email to them over the weekend.

summerpixie · 04/02/2011 20:59

Congrats CrazyAlien. I think nothing seems real until the first scan to confirm it so you can see it. Have you had many symptoms? X

PrincessScrumpy · 05/02/2011 15:12

Summerpixie - do you have an accent or are you mixed race? That's the only reason I can think of for them giving to you. Very odd.

lolajane2009 · 05/02/2011 16:03

i think i might have obsessive cleaning disorder. been doing a mad clean on and off since 9.

PrincessScrumpy · 05/02/2011 18:36

well done lolajane.

I started clearing spare bedroom as we're moving dd to a bigger bedroom - seems a waste giving the second biggest room in the house to occasional guests. dh has continued clearing today while I struggled with pretty violent morning sickness (was only actually sick once with dd1 - already beaten that with this one)! Was worried it was a tummy bug but eating helped so I think I need to eat before I feel sick tomorrow morning.

DH is being soooooo fab doing lots of housework and clearing bless him. So sick of reading threads of people who seem to hate their dhs. Maybe I'm just very lucky. I did cook one of his favourites to say thank you.

Now, for ice cream....

reddaisy · 05/02/2011 20:38

Hi everyone, welcome and congrats to all the newbies. I have been feeling utterly exhausted for the last few days.

Last night I went to bed at 8pm when DD went to bed but then I woke up in the middle of the night.

Glad your DP is being helpful PrincessScrumpy, mine is being great too. I can only bring myself to do the basics at the moment.

SummerPixie, why don't you just ignore the form? Then deal with it if you get sent another one? I wouldn't be offended, maybe where you live there is a high percentage of people who aren't entitled to NHS care claiming they are or something so it could be standard practice.

CrazyAlien06 · 05/02/2011 23:54

Hi. I've been feeling tired and got sore boobs but that's it. Finding it weird with DH as he doesn't seem to think my tiredness is due to pregnancy, I have spent all weekend so far doing work and am fed up as will have to spend most of tomorrow evening doing more!
It's tough as my work don't know I'm expecting so can't explain how I'm feeling. I just wish I didn't have to work as find the job (teaching) exhausting enough as it is ( I'm an nQT and in final term.
I want a scan asap to reassure me that everything is ok but have to wait until I see mw in couple of weeks and then I guess I get referred to hospital of my choice?
I have no idea what happens lol,I just want to see my what's going on in my body....oh and DH to be more concerned would be nice.

X

chelstonmum · 06/02/2011 00:22

Hi CrazyAlien06, have you showed your DH some of the 'week by week guides to pregnancy'? The ones I have read all state general need to snooze more. Im lucky as DH realises I am tired, and I can structure my working day to suit myself. I have been finding if I have a morning nap (up at 6.30am, DH and DC to school, then nap form 8-9am) then I am fine for the rest of the day.....but on the days where I have morning meetings I am near useless in the evening. That said had first actual long lie (10.30am!) since christmas and I am now wide awake! x
