I found out yesterday that I am pregnant with DC2. I am really pleased as we only started trying on Christmas Eve so I am only about four weeks pregnant.

I have told my best friend but I think DP and I will wait to tell family and friends until after the scan. Anyone else due in September and fancy a chat?

PrincessScrumpy · 21/01/2011 20:18

Wow, afternoon naps! I wish... think my boss would find it a bit odd and the kids (in a secondary school) would certainly not let me! Grin

Looking forward to a year off to spend with baby and dd1 (last year before she starts school!

reddaisy · 21/01/2011 21:01

Are you going to take a full year off Princess? I am hoping to.

I was on a lieu day from work today Princess so the nap was a one off unfortunately. But boy did I need it!

Who looks after your DD when you work now? Are you going to keep her in childcare when you have the baby?

Hi Reddaisy, PrincessScrumpy and Lollyheart, gosh that will be a busy week! Ds is 8 (will be 9 when the baby arrives) and Dd is 6 so a bit of a gap for us............have just made a 'what we need list' answer was everything!

We only moved to Devon last summer so it has been quite the year. Has everyone else been to the doc already? Im booked in for this wednesday, just desperate to get to the hertbeat/first scan milestones...........patience is a virtue I seem to have misplaced! x

reddaisy · 21/01/2011 21:12

Did you keep any of the stuff from your first two Chelston?

Devon must be lovely, are you near the beach?

Here we don't go to the doc, I have filled in a form for the community midwife and left it with the docs to pass on and someone will get in touch to book me in with the midwife.

I am also desperate to get to the first scan, it doesn't feel quite real yet.

chelstonmum · 21/01/2011 21:22

We are a 10min walk from the beach and the lovely cockington country park so good for lots of pram walking.

The only things I kept form the first two were sentimental things (there was no room to store the stuff as the kids got older and gathered more and more and more). My dd kindly offered the baby her baby annabel crib, wardrobe and mini silvercross. I politely declined and told her she can help me find new ones for the baby instead.

Do you have things left from your dd? x

reddaisy · 21/01/2011 21:27

Yes, she is two on Saturday so I kept everything including all her clothes so if it is a boy it is still going to be wearing dresses!! So it does mean I haven't got as much to organise as last time.

I would love to be so close to the beach, lucky you!

It is so sweet that your DD offered you her toys, it would save you a lot of money if you take her up on it. Wink

chelstonmum · 21/01/2011 21:40

Im sure if you get a ds he will look stunning in pink! :o

There is roughly the same age gap between my ds and dd, it is great, they still play together lots. If I take my dd up on her offer the baby could just sleep in her room too and I can keep my study/workroom! Wink

reddaisy · 21/01/2011 21:43

Bless her, sounds like she is really looking forward to the new arrival, she is going to have to wait a while though as September is ages away.

DD is with cm mostly but just started preschool 3 mornings a week. I'm going to take a year off - well Sept to July the go in to work for a few days so I get paid full over the summer hols (I work in a school so timed it well!).

dd will probably still go to pre school but not the cm. Really looking forward to it. I took a year with dd1 and that was from a much more high-powered job. Had only been back 5 months when my team was made redundant. It was throughout the company so not just me and they offered me a job but it was an hour commute to get there and not much more money so I took the payoff and went part time in a school.

I'm going to gp on Monday just so I can get on the midwife list. Not really much to do at this early stage. My hairdresser just told me she knew I was pg just from my hair!

PrincessScrumpy · 22/01/2011 11:33

Reddaisy - if we have a ds he's going to be using pink blankets too. I'm so sure it's a boy just because it would be more inconvenient as we have all dd's stuff. Really don't mind which we have - dd will cover him/her in glitter no matter what, of that I am sure! Grin

johsibo · 22/01/2011 14:34

Hi everyone!
Baby #3 for me and very excited.
I´m visiting the doctor 9th of Feb (first time) but I´m strongly suspecting my due date to be the last weeks of September. (will come back to tell when I know) I´m feeling so tired as well but not that much sick though (that´s plus!) also not feeling much hungry most of the times. We haven´t told anyone yet, want to wait a bit longer.
My boys are going to be 6years (sep 15th) and 4 years (oct 2nd)
Congratulations everyone! I´m with a small bump already :)

PrincessScrumpy · 22/01/2011 15:38

Congratulations johsibo!

No-one believes me that I have a bump but I do - dh is still questioning the dates but I have a really regular cycle and mark afs on the calendar so I know I'm right.

We've spread birthdays out as dd will be 3 in Feb.

dh keeps saying I'm nesting as I've tried to start clearing the junk/spare room so dd1 can move into it during half term. It will give her a bigger bedroom so some toys can go upstairs. I'm hoping dc2 will share with dd1, but if not we'll sell the spare double bed and use the 3rd bedroom.

chelstonmum · 22/01/2011 16:47

Congratulations Johsibo........im dc 3 too!

Princess you are not alone, I have the study measured and the new nursery planned already (im sure my dh thinks im mad). x

Brasso4 · 22/01/2011 17:36

Hi all, I am due on 20th September (which is also my birthday!!) with DC2. I have one DD who will be 1 next week, so quite a small gap. Very scared about this - financial issues seem quite scary. I am in Cambs too.

PrincessScrumpy · 22/01/2011 18:12

Congrats Brasso.

Took my body 12 months to recover from dd1's birth so took until she's nearly 3 for us to even consider another.

It'll be lovely for you as they grow up so close together in age.

reddaisy · 22/01/2011 21:42

Hi Brasso4 and Johsibo, congratulations to you both. We all seem to be due from Sept 20 onwards although I guess the scans will tell us more.

Brasso, at least they will amuse each other as they grow up. Happy birthday to your DD. My DD is two this week. Have you gone back to work after your DD yet?

I was lucky and didn't go back until my DD was 1. God knows what we are going to do about work and childcare when there are two so I know what you mean!

Glad to hear any boys we are expecting will be swaddled in blue!

OP posts:
johsibo · 22/01/2011 22:46

Aww Congrats Brasso :) that´s a great due date for sure! :)
@PrincessScrumpy..What comes to our early bumps, guess it´s pretty normal for us to have them since the pregnancies before. ..and I must say that at least I haven´t been some fanatic with gym/ training my abdominals, so nothing to wonder about the early bump. ;)
But this time I want to be extra careful with what I eat, I want to not gain so much extra, don´t want the swelling and high blood pressure (end of the pregnancy) like from my two boys before.

landyb · 23/01/2011 18:22

hello, we think we might be pregnent we are 9 days late and have had 6 possitive tests, 3 different brands but no symptons apart from some tummy cramps, doctors can only see us in 1 1/2 weeks, is that normal? is it all true? would be end sept if true.

PrincessScrumpy · 23/01/2011 18:44

6 tests?! I only did one. I'm seeing gp on Monday and booked it on Friday afternoon - but it is a village doctor who comes to the birth and usually makes time even if he has to stay late.

GP doesn't do much except get you on the list for a midwife etc.

If you've had 6 bfps I would say they's quite conclusive.

Congratulations! Grin

Brasso4 · 23/01/2011 19:05

Wow, doing 6 tests! I have only done one so far, will just do one tomorrow again before Drs on Tuesday.

Are you a secondary teacher too Princess?

I went back in December after my DD, can't afford to take a year off with no2 so will probably go back in September for a couple of weeks (we actually start in August) and then go back in June, basically the longer I can work in the Autumn, the later I can go back in the summer.

No symptoms here yet, except excessive thirst. It does not really seem real.

reddaisy · 23/01/2011 19:16

Six tests must make it true landyb. But I know what you mean about not believing it. I have only taken one test and sometimes I feel like I could have somehow got it wrong.

I have had a quite a bit of cramping and sore boobs but neither of those symptoms today.

And what does bfps stand for?

reddaisy · 23/01/2011 19:16

Hi, I've just seen this thread and wondered if I can join you guys? As you mentioned on here, the other one is rather busy and my due date is nearer the end of Sept anyway.

This is my 3rd pregnancy. DS is 2, I had a mc in Dec at 6 weeks pg and I've been really lucky in becoming pg again almost immediately after so I'm now about 6 weeks again. I don't have an official due date as I had no period in between the mc and pg but by my calculating I'm saying 19th Sept.

I'm feeling positive about this pregnancy and the signs are good for this one sticking but I won't relax until I've been for a viability scan which my GP's referring me for if I get to 8 weeks.

Symptoms so far are painful boobs, slight nausea and random light-headedness.

Congrats to every one else on your BFPs

reddaisy · 23/01/2011 20:27

Welcome MummyToMax! We all seem to have only just found out we are pregnant so it feels right that we have our own thread.

Congratulations and how lovely that it is your third, I really hope everything goes well for you.

How old is your eldest child? My DD is nearly two like your DS, I am hoping it will be a nice age gap.

Not a teacher - was on senior editorial team at a newspaper but was made redundant after 5 months back at work, so went for admin job in a school. Hours suit and I get school hols. Mat pay is much better than the bare minimum I got at the paper - I think I was the only person in editorial to ever have a baby! Job isn't very taxing but I will not have to worry about childcare when dd starts school.

Not sure I could teach - I do occasional business-related lessons and they're fun, but not all day everyday. I think the kids would drive me crazy.
