I found out yesterday that I am pregnant with DC2. I am really pleased as we only started trying on Christmas Eve so I am only about four weeks pregnant.

I have told my best friend but I think DP and I will wait to tell family and friends until after the scan. Anyone else due in September and fancy a chat?

Princess, sorry head all over the place. Very busy term for me too (primary), am taking class on 3 day trip so no sleep then plus 2 more school trips. My class were excited about me having a baby and I know they will be really helpful and tell me to sit down more. 11 weeks and counting.

Valiant1 · 03/05/2011 08:21

getting my dc ready for school then going to sit in the stinky college all day the joy Confused wish i could get a job in a school all the sports days and school trips Grin.. have fun ladies xx

lolajane2009 · 04/05/2011 11:55

i finally cracked this morning and tidied up the mess I've been nagging hubby to clear up... I think I should have 'MUG' written across my forehead.

vallinnapod · 04/05/2011 13:35

Hi all!

Clock watching as I finally have my 20 week scan today - it is also my 5 month marker! I have decided months are much better milestones than weeks (22+4) Grin

I just want to know all is fine with everything, we already know he is a 'he' but to know everything is where it should be and is doing it's job will be great. I also feel very small, bumpwise - unless I am lying flat, when he is really obvious, I just look like I have eaten too much (waaaay to much, but still not really baby shaped!)

Lola ours is a Edward 'Teddy' too! He is def a Teddy, I don't think I have once referred to him as Edward!

Tick tock tick tock Wink

CrazyAlien06 · 04/05/2011 15:33

How did it go with the scan?x

Lollyheart · 04/05/2011 15:41

Hello everyone.

I've got my 20 week scan tomorrow, I've said from the start I don't want to find out the sex, I'm so tempted to find out lol.

Valiant1 · 04/05/2011 15:46

i am finding out defo!Grin my sister rang me today to tell me my Nephew has Shingles so am running round trying sort that out and find out what will happen OMG AM NOW SO STRESSED [SAD]

summerpixie · 04/05/2011 18:08

At last the 20 week scan! I seem to attract all the students! Last pg I had a student midwife in on my appointments, when I had my CVS I had a student nurse helping out and today I get the student sonographer! She was taking AGGGGGGGGGGEEEESSS. Eventually, the senior sonographer took over. I don't mind being the guinea pig for students but I wish they would grow some balls and be more confident!
My scan took nearly an hour to complete. Had to make DH leave half way to get another parking ticket. Thankfully, all is fine. I kept having a check of the dates they had at the bottom of the screen and they were all around 21+ weeks. Hopefully, this little one will be early and arrive dead on 31st of Aug to get in the school year.
My students are starting to ask me if I am expecting. It's quite funny watching them giggling and telling each other to ask me.

Anyway, we found out we are having a little GIRL.

I'll be looking forward to finding out what you're all having. Maybe we should start a count of each.

PiousPrat · 04/05/2011 18:18

May I please poke my nose in here too? I am due on September 11th with dc3 which we found out a couple of weeks ago is in fact DS3. Now to work out how to stop the 'oh another boy? You must be so relieved/disappointed' comments Hmm

DS 1&2 are 10 and 11 and quite looking forward to having a baby brother, as DS2 has always been the youngest and DS1 was so young when Thing 2 came along that he never got to see the whole 'firsts' of everything.

I have finally waved off morning sickness, only for it to be promptly replaced by cluster headaches, an increase in migraines and severe joint pain. Of course all at a time when I can't take painkillers. :(

vallinnapod · 04/05/2011 18:25

Fab scan here Grin

Teddy bear was having a shy day and hiding his face in the placenta and behind his hands! Everything is where is should be and performing the functions it should! He weighs 1lb 3ozs at the mo! All measurements bang on the 50th percentile - apart from a little tum which was at 73! I was also told several time what a lovely cervix I have! I was Confused and Grin in equal measures. Was told it was long and closed therefore very low probability of pre-term delivery.

Can't believe that is it for scans, bar any issues!

CrazyAlien06 · 04/05/2011 18:37

Yay glad to hear scan went well :D I can't wait for mine in few weeks!
we re having more scans at 28 and 36 weeks as part of a research study so they will be amazing to see we don't want to know the sex so will have to close our eyes on later scans if all obvious lol.
Time is dragggggging until my next scan! Technically I shouldn't even be on this thread as due 2nd Oct ..... But original EDD was 28th sept..

X

PrincessScrumpy · 04/05/2011 20:17

I'm welling up reading the scan stories! That's how emotional I am right now. Babies aren't moving much but I guess they don't have much room. Heart burn is annoying but I'm feeling surprisingly well, just need more sleep than usual. Feeling quite fat right now but it'll be worth it.

My scan is tomorrow. Can't wait to find out if they are the girls they think they are. People keep telling me boys would be good as I have dd1 - really makes me cross. I don't care what sex.

candr don't apologise - I've become a mini expert/biology teacher since finding out. So much I didn't know.

Valiant1 · 04/05/2011 20:37

i am going to moan again.... i am sorry but had a pants day!!!!!!

I went to college and it was hot and yukky then rushed home for a dentist appiontment which had been cancelled then i get a text from my niece to ring my sister [confussed] my Nephew who i looked after on Friday has shingles [worried] i rang my m/w who said i needed a blood test and went to the dr. the receptionist rang the midwife and booked me in for bloods grrr... am soooooo ichy i know it all in my head and know i shouldn't be angry at my sister but i just don't seem to have things going for me at the moment. i just feel pants. i have to go in to college from 9-4 tomorrow and friday then sit through the weekend praying nothing goes wrong. till i see the m/w on monday!!!grrrrrrr moan rant over sorry ladies such lovely time all the scans and stuff another girl please save one for me .. will make my dd day to have a baby sister and too be born in the same month!!(she only 5 bless) keeps asking if we having a baby for real and if we keeping it xx

have to go shower see if i can stop itching sorry for moaning xx

candr · 04/05/2011 20:41

Congrats on the scans ladies, so pleased they went well. I am looking forward to mine next week as feels like so long ago from 12 week scan but have reached a 'grumpy' stage. Class was not well behaved and had some kids do something I was really dissappointed in which was upsetting plus double staff meet, needed like a hole in the head. Grrrrrrr! Have had loads of parents telling me that it is great I am having a boy as they love their mummies more than girls which annoys me (being a girl who loves her mum loads) and think most of the boys being talked about are slightly wet mummies boys, doubt it makes a difference what sex you are. Even had some mums say oh! I bet you are dissappointed not to have a girl! - not sure how to talk to them now. I know they are interested and being friendly but still..... Rant over, come back sun I think I need another heat hit to chase my grumpiness away.

summerpixie · 04/05/2011 21:37

Can't wait to find out what sex your ID twins are PrincessScrumpy. Twins are so fascinating whether they are ID or Not. All the non-ID girls I teach do not get on with their twin but ID ones do.

Valiant, have you had Chicken Pox before? Also, did your nephew have blisters when you were looking after him? If you are feeling quite well in yourself, no flu/cold/illness then you should be OK from the shingles. It's not nice when these things happen as all you can think about is the damage it may cause.

I'm desperately hoping DS doesn't catch Chicken Pox at Nursery or no kids turn up at school with it as my immune system is being real pants at the moment. 7 Days of penicillin and I am still coughing my guts up and (TMI) my pelvic floor seems to have gone on holiday :( I may have to brave the GP again soon.

Valiant1 · 05/05/2011 07:51

not had chicken pox and he had the blisters Sad i am being positive today 9i always say that after a rant) lol i am sorry ladies am exited to read about more scans i thjink mine is the lat one not till the 23rd of may x

PrincessScrumpy · 05/05/2011 17:43

We are having Id girls! Grin

candr I'm getting the opposite reaction as I have dd1 so people assume I want boys - I don't have a preference, I just wanted another baby in my nest Smile! Children grow up with their own personalities and their behaviour is linked to upbringing, not sex. Makes me so shocked at some people's nerve and opinions!

Lollyheart · 05/05/2011 17:47

I hope it all turns out ok valiant1

I've had my 20 week scan today and all is ok Smile the baby wad being very stubbon and wasn't in a very good position to check spine and lungs, I managed not to ask the sex Grin

Hope your scan went ok ps

Lollyheart · 05/05/2011 17:49

God knows why I said lungs when I meant heart Hmm

candr · 05/05/2011 19:01

Had a mum freak me out today saying she relised she is only 3 weeks ahead of me for due date and then said that my bump was tiny and was I sure everything was ok WTF! that is not an ok thing to say to a pregnant person even if it is someone pregnant saying it. Had to come home and look at loads of preg pictures of people around 19weeks to reassure myself how different everyone looks. Got given a stethascope as well by an ex DR to try and hear baby, do I put it where MW puts doppler cause I cant hear anything (on't worry, am not panicking as I know even home dopplers can be tricky)
Princess, crazy that twins did not skip generation in yr family as everyone told me that I was unlikely to have them although recently found out DH uncles are twins too. Please tell me you won't dress them the same, did you have that growing up?

G1nger · 05/05/2011 19:08

I had my scan today. I'm 19 weeks and five days along. I keep thinking I could already be beyond half-way if it's early! (Ladies - I hear from my friend that the school year intake cut-off date is being moved back to June??).

In any case, back to the scan: everything appears "normal", and he's a boy! This is my first.

summerpixie · 05/05/2011 19:40

Bumper day for scans! Glad they're all good and you've confirmation of ID girls Princess. CandR, everybody is different so don't worry about what other people say about size. I was convinced I had a small bump but a woman asked me if I was over 6 mths in the waiting room yesterday. It's all subjective.

PrincessScrumpy · 05/05/2011 19:58

ID twins aren't hereditary - the fraternal ones are on the mum's side (ie. 2 eggs dropping is hereditary, but splitting isn't). We were the first twins in the family so it's a bit of a coincidence. Won't be dressing them the same - I think it'll be a challenge to be that organised tbh. My sister died very young so I don't remember but I don't think we were dressed the same (maybe for family occasions?!). I bet they'll want to wear the same clothes when they're 4 and go completely against my good intentions to see them as independent children.

Ignore comments on bump size - everyone is so different - it depends on your size, torso length and baby's position. We have 2 women who are the same stage at work and one is very obviously pg but the other has just put a bit of weight on.

What weights are people's babies? I'm curious. I've been told my girls are both 10oz which is great news as they don't seem to be affected by twin to twin transfusion (yet).

CrazyAlien06 · 05/05/2011 20:03

Hey great news from all the scans:-) two weeks until mine - hoping it goes aswell as all of yours, don't want to find out the sex x

NatzCNL · 05/05/2011 20:49

Lots of good scan results!! Wonderful! Im 20 weeks today - officially half way Grin Scan is on Wednesday and still in two minds as to finding out. Princess, great news on the ID girls. I secretly always wanted twins.

Sorry not posted in ages, busy with the kids and struggling with the energy levels. Am going to ask MW to check my iron levels.

I had a brief skim through the thread and have noticed quite a lot of absent names. Reddaisy who began the thread has not been on for a long time. I hope everything is ok?

CrazyAlien, good luck with your scan, and to all that have scans coming up xx
