I found out yesterday that I am pregnant with DC2. I am really pleased as we only started trying on Christmas Eve so I am only about four weeks pregnant.

I have told my best friend but I think DP and I will wait to tell family and friends until after the scan. Anyone else due in September and fancy a chat?

anyone else ravenous at the moment... craving is driving me mad that hubby now looks like a giant hamburger.

NatzCNL · 11/04/2011 20:03

We told our two DD's today that there is a baby on the way, went down a treat! DD1 aged 4 1/2 ran outside (back garden) and told the neighbours, then rang her nan & granddad (my parents) to squeal the news down the phone, whilst DD2 aged 3 kept talking to my tummy and listening to my belly button to see if the baby replied, so so so cute!
Really getting a tummy on me now, will be 17 weeks this week and still slightly in denial which is always a shock when I catch my reflection and see a little bump. How is everyone doing? Smile

PrincessScrumpy · 11/04/2011 20:06

Is anyone buying stuff yet? dh and I suddenly thought this weekend, maybe we should start thinking about it. So far I have stuff left from dd, 2 new baby grows and I've ordered a steriliser (with two bottles) as the one I wanted was on offer.

lolajane2009 · 11/04/2011 20:12

lol i've bought a lot... so naughty but hubby is rather enthusiastic and I have to tell him to step away from the clothes. also as we have very little ready cash buying little and often will help us.

Anyone else ravenous? i am fairly sure that atm anything not moving is fair game for this baby.

CrazyAlien06 · 11/04/2011 20:14

hey ladies, not sure I should be on here at EDD is 2nd Oct .....
I have no bump still and am concerned where it is! and when its going to appear!!

lolajane2009 · 11/04/2011 20:44

lol it depends on you really? theres lots of factors... how you are carrying... how big you are pre preg... whether this is your first...

mine popped properly last week... I am 17 + 3 atm. I was a size 10/12 before and seem to be carrying at the front with a tilted uterus. Also this is my second preg after a miscarriage about 6 yrs ago.

NatzCNL · 11/04/2011 21:14

Ha ha, lolajane - I was like that with my 1st pregnancy, had to eat every 20 mins or so, this time (3rd DC) I am rarely even hungry but am so so tired. Am sure this will all change as baby hits the growth spurt due this week! Princess - we've not bought a thing, but have 2 DD's so still have cotbed, moses basket, clothes, toys, steriliser, pram, high chair etc so no need to really buy anything, although now our girls know am hoping they will want to start buying things for baby.
We bought our pram for DD1 when I was 3 months gone, but just because it was on sale and a good one. Think I was about 6 months when we started ordering furniture, but definately started picking up clothes almost as soon as the line appeared on the pregnancy test... Grin
CrazyAlien, agree with Lolajane, all depends on if it's your first pregnancy etc. I didn't show with DD1 till around 6 months (had such lovely tummy muscles, they are deeply missed), with DD2 I was around 3 months and this time round (after losing baby number 3 in September) I began showing around 9 weeks.

CrazyAlien06 · 11/04/2011 22:37

This is my first, size 10 and 5ft 10" . that area is totally the same as pre pregnancy! as I said I'm 15 +1 . am concerned somethings gone wrong

lolajane2009 · 11/04/2011 22:41

You are very tall so might take longer. I'm only 5ft 2 so tiny weeny so it is hard to hide anything. It is normal to worry (I worry about other things) but I wouldnt be overly concerned.

CrazyAlien06 · 12/04/2011 07:33

Thanks for your lovely words. Hopefully mw can put my mind at rest next week. Anyone know what protocol is at 16 week mw appt?x

Jojo1983 · 12/04/2011 08:17

Hey ladies I has my 16 week appointment last thursday and the midwife has put me on a daily dose of asprin and Vit D anyone else on this?? Bit worried as she mentioned higher risk of blood clots and pre eclamsia. Someone please put my mind at ease.

pinkdaisy · 12/04/2011 08:56

Hello!
I am due baby number 3 on the 20th of September too!
We have:
ds (4)
ds2 (21 months)

Am very nervous about the birth!!! Am a right wimp with the whole labor thing!
I live in Surrey! I feel really fat as opposed to pregnant, and am sure most people are thinking that too!
Lx

NatzCNL · 12/04/2011 09:00

CrazyAlien, again, I agree with lolajane, being tall will give your baby more room to grow up without having to grow outwards IYSWIM? A friend of mine had 2 children and at 9 months with both she looked no bigger than I did at 5 months (obviously 5 months with number 2 as wasn't really showing with number 1) and she was about your height and size. Which also meant she got no stretch marks, unlike me, and her tummy muscles were pretty much back to normal within 8 weeks. Jealous? Me? Totally!

Jojo, speak to your midwife so she can explain exactly why you have been put on these tablets, although I didn't have this I know that a fair few have. Try not to worry, they will have good reason to put you on these but I think they need to spend a bit of time explaining why they feel you need them. I can only imagine that your BP was high and therefore they are trying to avoid it turning into pre-eclampsia, as they say, prevention is better than cure. Call your midwife and have a little chat with them xx

NatzCNL · 12/04/2011 09:05

Hi Pinkdaisy, welcome to the thread! I am also feeling fat rather than pregnany, although DP reassures me that it is obviously a baby bump and not a cake bump, I slightly disagree! Im also on DC number 3 with a 4yr old and 3yr old at home. And funnily enough I am getting a bit nrevous about the birth too. Even though I had relitively quick labours and births before, I am convincing myself that this time I will be overdue and in labour for days.... [Hmm]

I hope you are coping ok with two little ones to look after. There was only 16 months between my eldest two and I found running after a toddler whilst pregnant and with a new baby rather ard work! x

NatzCNL · 12/04/2011 09:06

Typo after typo, maybe I need to go back to bed!!!

Jojo1983 · 12/04/2011 11:37

MatzCNL Just been to the doctors and spoke to her about it she dont agree with the midwife and now im even more confused!
My BP was normal both with the midwife and just now at the doctors so cant be due to that.

PrincessScrumpy · 12/04/2011 11:54

At my 16w check dh couldn't make it so she decided to give me a big talk on domestic violence. DH is lovely and would never hit me or even insult me - I'm the fiery one so it would be more likely to go the other way (would never hit him though (except during labour but that's a different matter).

The twins have given me a very obvious bumb but my boss, who is 5 weeks ahead of me, hasn't got much bump at all and could easily be missed that she's pg.

DD1 gave me an amazing lie-in this morning. I went to her room at 8.30am but she was still asleep. I climbed into bed with her and she woke up at 9.20am! She seems fine now and not ill but we're having a lazy day at home and haven't even got dressed yet! Think we'll have a picnic in the garden later.

Oh and mw thinks we're having 2 girls - I had a scan yesterday as I'd had a little bleed (I think it's going to be one of those pgs but everything is fine. Had to have anti d as I'm rhesus negative). Am 16 +4 so she had a look and said one looked like a girl but the other kept legs crossed so she couldn't double check. Will confirm at 20w scan but as they're ID, looks like we'll have 3 girls in the house - poor dh Grin

lolajane2009 · 12/04/2011 12:10

Even my mother is now admitting I look obviously pregnant. I cant wait till two weeks tomorrow as I get my twenty week scan then. Hubby has booked day off and I am hoping to see the sex....

really hoping for a boy and hubby is hoping for a girl.

NatzCNL · 12/04/2011 12:19

Jojo, sorry you are getting such mixed views from your healthcare providers. Are you able to speak to your MW at all about it? Although I value my GP's opinion on health matters, midwives specialise in pregnancy and pregnancy related issues so would reccomend seeking out an appointment to discuss this especially if your GP disagrees with the care plan. There is nothing wrong with asking questions, and even more so when it is to do with the care of your unborn baby and your health during this time. Hope you get some clearer advice and reasons xx

Princess, dont you just love the domesic violence chats?! I laughed when during our last pregnancy the midwife approached the subject, as my DP is such a sweetheart. I know they have to bring the matter to attention for those women who do unfortunately suffer with domestic violence, and pregnancy is a very vulnerable time. However the midwife had already met my DP and was quite embarrassed when she had to talk about it because it was obviosly not an issue for us. Just protocol!

Yay to having more girls!!! I have 2 and love having little ladies in the house. DP is desperate for this one to be a boy, but I really wouldn't mind if it was another girl - would save a fortune on toys and clothes if anything! However I guess a boy would be nice to even up the numbers a bit.

Hope the bleeding is just a one off, but am guessing with the rapid speed your uterus is growing there may be a few bleeds. Look forward to finding out if your house will be all pink Grin

We are still umming and ahhing about if we will find out the sex or not as we didn't with the girls, and it was so lovely finding out at the birth. But now the girls know we will see if they can be patient and wait for the big day or not.

Hope everyone else is well. Am in such a good mood today, and feeling some proper little belly pops now which I am loving!

lolajane2009 · 12/04/2011 12:59

I got cornered while they did my weight about domestic violence... I have admit I was so shocked I laughed. Just like princess I am the one with the short temper and I really don't think hubby would hit me, especially as we met doing karate and he learnt that while he didn't particularly like sparring against me I saw him as nothing but another opponent.

Valiant1 · 14/04/2011 13:41

PrincessScrumpy · 14/04/2011 13:59

Hi Valiant love Abigail - not so keen on Connor but that's because I know a few naughty ones at the school I work at. I just bought a steriliser - a microwave one for £21 (including postage) from the Mam website. I loved Mam bottles with dd1 as she hated the Tommee Tippee style teats. She took to the Mam ones straight away. I only had the second size teats though as I bf for 8 months. This time I want to be prepared incase I struggle with feeding twins. The steriliser came with two bottles and a dummy. You can also sterilise the bottles individually without a box in the microwave if you're visiting someone and don't want to take all the kit. (It's quite tragic how excited I am about these bottles!)

We've decided to wait until 20 week scan before ordering buggy etc but we have seen the cot bed I like on Ebay locally so will keep an eye on it and might make an offer on Monday. It's £150 new so how much would you pay for second hand? (I'll buy a new mattress).

lolajane2009 · 14/04/2011 14:10

I'm not buying cot or pram myself so will wait a while, although I know what pram I want and will get my inlaws to order it at about 28 weeks.

I have a busy week too... got a teddy bear event on sunday then two medical appointments on tuesday and thursday. i have my scan the following week and at the moment all i want to do is lie down and relax.

Misty9 · 14/04/2011 14:22

Hi all
I think I've posted a couple times on here; there's so many Sept threads!
I'm 19+3 now and had a bit of a scare this week when I had spotting/light bleeding on Tues morning. A visit to the doc and the maternity day assessment unit later, and all was pronounced okay - and the 20wk scan is tomorrow which will be extra reassurance.
My GP did take one look at me though and signed me off for a week (said he would have done same without bleeding) as I looked knackered apparently! I don't do a particularly strenuous job and this is our first (so no other tiddlers to tire me out yet!) so I didn't see a reason for being so tired. I have been pretty stressed with academic work due in (doctorate) but just wanted to say to everyone it pays to listen to our bodies and do as they say :)
After a few days off, sleeping lots and generally taking it easy, I feel a lot better which has made me realise how tired I was. I know it's not always possible, but taking time when we need it really is important.

Hope no one finds this patronising....I think sometimes I find it hard to stop without a really obvious reason (uh, being nearly 20wks pregnant? duh!).
No bleeding since (touch wood) and can't wait to see poppyseed on the scan tomorrow :)

eastegg · 14/04/2011 16:07

Crazy my due date is 2nd Oct too! When I found out I'd already been on this thread with an official 'last period' date in September for ages and nobody has tried to boot me off!

My 16 week MW appt (not 16 weeks yet but appt fixed when my due date was officially earlier; see above!) was just a lovely chat with a lovely MW who was the same one I had last time. Like meeting up with an old friend! Told her about my stomach upsets and she was a bit nonplussed I think. The very next day I had an apptmt with a consultant MW to talk about mode of delivery. Thinking of going for ELCS due to 3rd degree tear last time.

Haven't been cornered about domestic violence yet.

Can't wait for Easter; 4 days up north with my parents who we haven't seen since Feb. I've just made some hot x buns this week to get in the mood.

Can't believe some of us are about to have 20 week scans! Mine's early June.
